There are anime where you can't wait for the next episode and then there are those that you can't wait to finish. This anime is certainly more of the latter. Burst Angel has a formula that's easy to dissect from the beginning, sub-par characters and downright boring storyline. Gonzo has been known to have it's ups, this is unfortunately a real downer.

Oh, I have a pain in my side for giving this show such a low score. I felt the enormous potential this show had. The fact that there was so much that could have been done and wasn't really irked me. the 3rd show I haven't given a 10 on enjoyment. ugg. Well, Onto the review.

Mecha, action, and big boob girls with hard nipples, and camel toes. That's sums up the genre.

Story is mainly focused on Joe and Megu. However, there are many episodes about the side character's background as well as trying to tell the underlying story of Sei. Overall it tries to fit too much in from the manga into the animation and becomes a rather bland story.

Don't expect too much out it. It's your average action anime, which you'll soon forget after watching it.

Bakuretsu Tenshi (a.k.a. Burst Angel) is a good action/ecchi/mecha anime with a story that is actually interesting enough to make one want to actually watch it for the anime itself and not just scantily clad anime chicks with huge guns. (Both types of "guns" apply)

This is a fairly good example of what Gonzo can do when they mean it. Every aspect of this anime has been well taken care of.

Beautiful animation with quality 3D CGI well integrated to 2D scenes, good music and ambient sounds that really participate to the "thrill", an entertaining and absorbing story with vivid characters.

Even though it's based on the usual Ecchi complex (1 boy, many girls) that can be found in other Gonzo productions (Vandread, GateKeepers...), both female and male characters are diverse and thick enough and have enough content to make it really entertaining.

Finally, the story is well balanced across all episodes and "temporal progression" over them is rather interesting.

It's a fest for the eyes and a pleasure for the imagination.

Based on 18 episodes.

Set in Japan of the future with different districts turned into their future counterpart, a group of four females with various different backgrounds work together doing jobs for this guy named Barren. Bakuretsu Tenshi is basically a futuristic action anime with various girl types that function together as a team. In the beginning, each episode comes up with a different scenario in order for the viewer to get to know the characters. Whether working together to defeat some common target, or showing a little snippet of each character's life, Bakuretsu Tenshi is a very simple character oriented, CG animated action series.

Each female has a different speciality both in their mobile station and in the field. Sei is the acting mother that takes care of everyone and the public relations person that handles all the negotiations. Jo is the main fighter who controls their only cybot, but otherwise lounges around watching cheesy movies - she's also there for those who are obsessed with Rei-types. Amy is the information specialist and likes to tinker with various technologies - she's also there for those who like loli. Meg is only there to appease those male audiences with her ditzy, fair skinned, red-headed "goodness" and not to mention the not too rare panty shot scenes (she also gets kidnapped and causes trouble way too much). Then we have this absolutely useless male character Kyohei who ends up being this rowdy crowd's cook. He gets dragged along with everyone's mess, but thankfully he has such a little role.

One of the major downfalls with this series is its storyline. With an absence of interesting scenarios to put the characters through, this series takes a serious drop in the entertainment department. Sure it was mildly enjoyable to watch Jo blast the hell out of everything and Meg's sexy ditzy self get in trouble all the time... but there was just nothing there to keep me interested for the next episode. Sometimes, I felt that they were trying too hard to focus on what Japan might be like in the future. Especially with their way too common references, culture, and iconology towards current Japanese life. And sure as hell, things seem way too arbitrary in this series. Logical sequencing seemed to be a problem and they also didn't make good use of their airtime. Most likely, the creators seemed to feel like just putting whatever they wanted in each scene just to fill up time.

Don't let the character designs fool you as it did me. They're cool and all, but this series is just a shame.

A new law's been passed in Tokyo. Ordinary folks are now allowed to freely carry firearms; shoot, they're even legally allowed to use'em. You might think that crime would increase, and you'd be right. But the arrest rate's gone down. After all, the only prison a dead man needs is a hole in the ground. All thanks to RAPT.

The Recent Armed Police of Tokyo is stealing away jurisdiction from the local authorities quicker than a bullet leaves a barrel. What that means is that folks are getting desperate. And desperate people with itchy fingers mean more bodies in the streets.

Now, I'm not sure if she came from up above or somewhere way down below, but an angel's just come to Earth. She's an enigma, but with her partners Sei, Amy, and Meg, she's the best chance this town's got. Her name's Jo. And there's a new sheriff in town.

Another GONZO flop. I've come to expect as much from them these days.

Predictably, the first four episodes had the nicest, slickest animation, after which the budget ran out and the quality plummeted to rock bottom.

This series didn't have much of a story to begin with, and I felt it was banking on fanboys fervent support and the appeal of the four girls to carry it through. Might work for some, but it didn't work for me. Admittedly I liked Sei most out of the four, but that was about it.

Overall, another flop of a series. It could have been so much better, but it failed at the execution.

Watch it once and forget about it. Best if you could borrow it and not have to buy it.

I was pretty disappointed with this one. I love Gonzo and their artwork but something in the story is lacking. I dont know if there is a manga and if it follows closely but I can give you a summary in a couple sentences for all the episodes.

1. some verbal banter between the chef, meg, jo, and the gang
2. mission comes up and meg gets captured
3. jo gets pissed off and saves her
4. rinse and repeat.

Character design is awesome and I actually bought the Alter toy of Meg before watching the anime. Now, I'm going to give it away because I cant stand her. Jo is the typical "action speaks louder than words" character that softens thru the series. The chef (cant remember his name) is an 18 year old that sounds like he's 5 complete with the pre pubescent voice. Really annoying. The other 2 are just there for conversation purposes.

The sound is amazing, especially in 5.1.

Too bad Meg and the Chef were involved in the stories. If it was only Jo, this would have been less annoying and more exciting.

The series was extremely well done. The animation on it was simply awesome. I blazed thru this entire series in 2 days it was just one episode after another. This isnt exactly among my top 5 animes of all time however it is a good series all n all.

A huge HUGE disappointment. In the end I couldn't even give this a green rating.

From the offset, I thought this was going to be a harem genre. The tellings signs are all there: we have a classic harem hero: a nice guy who's a total loser (any guy coming from "The Love and Happy Cook School" deserves to be labeled an Uber Loser), and it looked like he was gonna end up live in a big house (or in this case, a big... uh... armoured truck) full of girls. But, for some reason, I was slightly intrigued. Maybe it was the clear, colourful and fluid animation, or maybe it was the lack of slapstick comedy that are omnipresent in harems.

But, having caught my attention, episode after episode of unspectacular short stories that were only loosely connected at best ensued, and totally wore down my initial interest in the show. It's not that the short stories were particularly bad, but there just wasn't anything GREAT about them. Nothing to tempt me to watch the next episode with great urgency.

Not only are the episodes quite independent of one another in terms of plot, but there wasn't much continuous character development either. It turned out I was very wrong about this anime being harem - turned out the total-loser-but-nice guy wasn't even the main character, and only appears in the occasional episode. The relationships between the characters were mostly static throughout. In fact, I almost wished this anime was harem... at least there'll be SOME non-static interaction between characters then.

Perhaps this anime is trying to find middle ground between having a continous storyline like in most other series and mini adventures like in Cowboy Bebop, but failed to impress in its attempt to do either. Cowboy Bebop's mini adventures were a lot more enjoyable, and had far more diversity than this; it also had more interesting characters, and was more addictive.

The attempt at making the story line continuous is even worse. This anime had what I now see as the Gonzo trade mark flaw, when they present to you a box of puzzle pieces with half the pieces missing. This anime has a futuristic setting that's so different from what we know, that it isn't the kind of stuff you can just pick up as you go along. The anime didn't really explain any of it. The strange social structure; weird cyber technology; the relationships between all these companies and mafias etc are just so confusing. There are a heck of a lot of ideas, but that's all they are - ideas. The lack of development of those ideas probably hurts this anime more than anything else.

This show is a textbook example of all style and no substance. Looking at it episode by episode, it isn't actually boring, but overall I found it took me a lot of effort to watch. The outstanding animation is what carries this anime along. Perhaps it's worth a watch just for that.

A weird anime that has a lot of potential but somehow manages to disappoint with a lackluster story.

The animation is excellent, the 3D fight scenes is some of the best I've seen, and even though I don't like some of the bio-mech designs, the rest of them are quite good. Also, I like how the fight scenes are fluid and with awesome shot angles. The physics defying moves are quite cool too. The only downside is with the fan service. For an anime that doesn't promote ecchiness, it just seems out of place to have the main characters to dress in revealing clothing and having big boobs.

The sound is decent, none of the seiyuu really seems to stand out, Sei and Jo is good, but Meg and Amy is just annoying. The BGM fits the fight scenes, but the OP and ED is a bit of a hit and miss.

The story is a big let down, with a setting in the corrupted future and a great premise, the story just did not deliver. The story is episodic with no real plot, and even the ending is a let down because it just doesn't seem to fit the whole consipracy story enough with the whole gang feeling at the end.

The only memorable characters are Sei and Jo. And even then, both characters should've better developed so that we know the inner feelings of both of them. As of now, what they are is pretty flat. The rest of the supporting cast is just flat out boring.

It's a decent anime to admire the action scenes, but I was disappointed with the story. You keep expecting something big to develop, but in the end, nothing came out that satisfy the viewers.

It was both enjoying and dissapointing.

A very controversial anime, just look the results :)

Continuation will be very nice, explaining and showing things, which the series lack in the plot.

I have all the episodes ,started watching it but I didnt finish it.

The animation is excellent. The combination of cell ,computer graphics did the job right.Pretty good action scenes. But what is up with their clothes man,,, did they ran out of o-kane/money to buy clothes.
The intro music is not annoying to me.I have heard a lot annoying ones but this one passed.
As of yet, the episodes I have seen are still trying to develop the characters .The story can be interesting here and there but overall I started loosing interest and moved on to the next anime in my collection.

The animation is amazing, the characters are really likeable, but the music is mainly crap, and the story is very lacking. There isnt really any main plot, but there are many plots that seem to be connected to one another. Because of this, I ended up being very confused with it all and not caring about the story because there were so many plots and changes that I wonder what the writers were thinking. I enjoyed the filler episodes more though. The intro theme was the most painful song I had to endure. It seemed like the artists were just happy that they could sing with "L's," but didnt care if the song sucked ass. I also must say that I hated the ending with great passion because the writers made the newest change of the main plot the most important one and therefore, made the characters act accordingly, but not acting to which would match there real characteristics. Confused? Well, so am i. Thank god for great characters and filler episodes to keep me going on this series. But I have no attachment for it.

In one word: Underrated.

This is one of the most underrated animes of 2004. The show starts off nice and is dropped by many people at ep 5+6 with are the worse/boring episodes of the series, The story picks up around ep 9 and features some nice animation at certain parts. some episodes are just sortoff a filler while other eps just feel like they've been pasted in[flashback eps].
If you watched this show before and dropped it before episode 10 I suggest that you watch it again [skip ep 5+6 if you dropped it here at first] and watch at least till episode 15

Bakuretsu Tenshi, eh? Girls, guns, mechs and an abnormally irritating intro tune. How can it possibly lose?

Well, lack of story is the main problem, I guess. When it gets going, it inevitably stops dead and then paves the way for more filler episodes, which leads up to a promising but extremely anticlimatic ending.

The 'fake' coolness in the series is unfortunately so prominent that it detracts from the sequences that actually are genuinely cool to watch. Double guns getting whipped out over and over again? You got it!

To be honest, if the main characters weren't so exceptionally cool, the series wouldn't be particularly worth watching, despite some cool humour and nice animation.

With these characters, however... well, you at least have to give Bakuretsu Tenshi a go. It's still a good way to pass time, though it has way more potential in it than it eventually delivers.

A shame, but certainly not a total wreck - it's both awesome and overdone at the same time. If the next series (assuming there is one) can show some restraint and a better pacing of the story, we could be looking at something extremely special.

I liked this one and it definitley comes with my recomendation.

Firstly, I'm not too phased by much of the formula, I mean... its anime people. But I have to give it to them that the fighting scenes were made to kick ass.

The animation was really good, the boobs got a little unconvincing at points, but still overall excellent. What I think really makes it (any anime) enjoyable is what is done with the awsome animation capabilities, the style, and this did have awsome style to it.

I liked the plot, the characters, the background, but I have a few qualms. The plot jumped around in some strange ways, by this I mean that most episodes I was second guessing myself on rather or not I had lost my place in the series. The background: Much attention is paid to the main characters, their history, and events surrounding them. But This anime had a problem that's been eating me on a couple, and that is that the world setup is just kinda left haging. I wish I could explain better, but I can't because I really can't gather much about the world that it takes place in. I know its a future where the police forces have been 'decentralized' (I think was the subbers interpretation), leading to packs like our main core 5 characters much like Coyboy Beepop and such. In the area of conflicts between these groups, how this all came into being, and the actual social scene of what was happening, I don't really know, and I'm guessing you'll watch it and not know either, se la vie. But this lacking of flooring for events is really by now a common task for anime, everyone knows its the future, mechas are fighting, the government had some fucked up shit happen to it, but what we really care about is the baito who is making yummy food for the main cast. And boobs.

Now back to relevancy to my review: Beyond all this, the most convincing thing I can convey to you about this anime is that it kept my attention. Every episode did have something now, the makers did show versatility, it really got going and every episode left you wanting to see the next one.

And Joe really kicked ass.

Splendid on a technical point of view, as most Gonzo products are, but weak or disappointing on everything else.
There are gem episodes scattered throughout the show (like the flashback episode, this one had me hoping for more, but no, it was just an isolated gem), but these gems are really in the rough, and the plot (if it can be called as such) never delivers.
