| Each season of this series gets better and better, this being the most recent series makes it the best and it does so by a landslide.

| The fourth instalment of the Initial D. As always, the main formula remains the same - a lot of racing and some minor romance stories. The first thing I noticed while watching this is that the pacing is way faster now, as well as episodes are longer. It's the first time I have seen TV episodes to be as long as 25 minutes and that's after cuting opening/ending times out. One race usually takes one or two episodes to finish, furthermore fillers between races are very short to non-existant. I think this show is what Initial D First Stage was supposed to be, it's a lot more polished than the previous instalments. Still, I liked Initial D First Stage the better, of course that's solely because I do not like racing in general. First stage offered me crazy music, which would fire me up like hell, as well as a storyline full of show offs. It could be just me, but the Fourth Stage lost the power in show offs in comparison with the First Stage. While in the First Stage everybody made fun of Takumi's eight-six, here they already know that he's crazily fast, while in the First Stage all Takumi's victories were surprising and intensive, here they are becoming repetitive and easily foreseen. Even though Takumi's opponents are supposed to be way stronger than the ones he fought in the First Stage it feels like he's not driving as good as he did in the first instalment, that's probably because he's no longer relaxed when he's racing, so it kills the spirit of "my god, he's so fast, yet he doesn't break any sweat?!"

| Fourth Stage still has the touch of the original Initial D. It never lost its glory till the end of the series. I thought the battles will be repetitive and there will be dozens of comeback enemies, but it was the opposite. They introduced new enemies, fought new battles and a new Fujiwara Takumi.
The first few races was centered to Takumi alone afterwards they'll just mention that Keisuke won, it made me a bit disappointed thinking the races will focus only on Takumi, but I was wrong. When I think about it, the whole Fourth Stage might've focused on Keisuke. In the end they both grew in this expedition. Though I don't like the idea of Ryousuke being like a god. All-knowing, giving them the directions and predicting matches. There are still battles that left me stunned, which is really good considering this is the fourth installment.
The story was balanced; it didn't focus on racing alone but the ordinary life of the racer. Even though Mogi was never in this installment, the Kyoko x Keisuke relationship somehow replaced it. It is one of the few things I look forward to other than the races.
The art improved from the first and second installments and the background music in battles is nice. All in all you won't be disappointed in this series.

| I really like watching Initial D. The Fourth Stage is much more about the races than the people, which has its positive and negative points.
But man, those races have become exciting! If you're looking for an incredible action anime, don't limit yourself to mechas and swords, 'cause there's also fast cars.
Definitely an anime to watch.

| First, this show is all about cars and races, so don't watch it if you hate those. As someone has said this anime is about racing, nothing more and nothing less, but it's wonderfull in what it is. The story is basically what happens to takumi, who's getting better and better at street racing. The animation is a lot better than the former episodes of the series, and the music just ROCKS. I think the music helps the atmosphere a lot, and with a good animation it's enough to make the show very enjoyable.
Well, i must admit the story itself is not very original, but the theme itself (car racing) is responsible for that.
The characters are ok, but as the anime is focused on cars, you won't find much depth in the characters way of thinking.
I highly recommend this anime for all those who like cars and car racing.

| Much more SF (special Effects) and CGI (Computer generated images), then in their first stage; draw the attention of the viewer.
Unfortunately, the plot, story, and seeing/learning to know new character(trait)s has been going down by each stage.
The second, and fourth stage is all about racing, and races.

| Let me start by saying that if you possess a love of cars that goes beyond looking, then you'll love this show. If you like a show about the quintessential underdog from the days of old beating on the newer styles of today, this show is for you. If you love giant robots, busty girls, powering up by screaming and fantasy worlds, this show is not for you.
That being said, I recently began watching Initial D, starting from the first stage. Being as dated as the first stage one, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the story flowed and the excellent music choices. Now with the steady release of each of the new fourth stage episodes, my excitement and awe at the artwork, music and all-around scheme of things is growing by leaps and bounds. Fourth Stage has vastly improved artwork and visuals that do not disappoint, even in the CG scenes for the car races. Music is brilliantly picked out and fit the mood of the scene nicely every time. Character developement varys from person to person. It comes highly recommended that you watch all previous stages to grasp just how the characters are developing. Buying the DVD's though, that's a different story. I've always felt that only getting 3 or 4 episodes per DVD is kinda cheap, but that seems to be the norm nowadays. If that doesn't matter for you, then by all means get the DVD, you won't be disappointed.
Overall, I give this series a 10/10, keeping in mind that I've followed the show since the first show.

| Overall this fourth stage is mostly about going over the same thing again and again. Some of the idea if you really think about it is that not really different from any of the other stage at all. For example the unhappy ending love story keep occuring, how takumi slowly learn about car and what needed to be done in other to drive his 86 faster. This anime just like anime other good anime but not great out there, it had the intrinsic of a good story and so far I can't wait till there is more out which I hope soon. As other people said it before if you are not really into car or have never drive a car before you won't be able to get the full excitement of all the stuff int there. I would like to see that they put more happy love ending in there, it really sicken me that they keep making everyone separated apart. Once example of this is that episode 14, what with the title anyway? I really annoy by those never happy ending, and that they keep doing it over and over again.

| I'll admit they actually bothered to make Stage 4 different from the other stages. I enjoyed this one alot simply cos it focused more on other racers other than Takumi and his clique of idiots. The girl who has a crush on Keisuke was a great addition. Along with the new and skilled competitors. Like the other initial D's, it's a great watch over and over again.
However, I liked the most is the way shuichi shigeno wrote it so it could go completely serious in one moment then rofl hilarious the next. Those who have seen episode 14 know what I"m talking about. But one caviat, if you don't like racing. this may bore the holy crap outta you.

| I've seen 14 episodes for Fourth Stage, so, it's well past the 10 listed here. It does NOT center around Takumi challenging Bunta. However, there is a little heads up action between these two.
The star, Takumi is a natural street racer, who started driving mountain passes when he was 14 (he's 19 in the series). Fourth Stage like many of the other stages continues Takumi's growth as a street racer on the mountain roads of Japan. Like what has been said here, it helps if you watch at least First Stage before watching this, but you could quickly pick up the idea of what's happening and enjoy the series for the races if nothing else.

| Initial D fourth stage really concentraded on the racing but tehn they added a little twist with that stalker type chick that falls in love with keisuke.comparing to the first stage the animation is WAY better and teh charaters a still pretty much the same but teh cg has gotten so much better...I didnt understand the ending, it kinda left you wondering what the hell happened at the end so im hopeing that they'll clear it up with another stage of intial d =D

cbf going into depth here, but if you think the formula is getting boring then you're wrong... Takumi has problems, is gaining knowledge about mechanics and is progressing as a character and a driver.
The new form of animation (ie more anime-in-style compared to the complete CG fakeness of the past series) is simply fantastic. The only problem they seem to have with it is making it look like there is super-fast velocity like they used to while a car is accelerating.
IMO the music is better now, its not as annoying, although I thought Eurobeat matches the whole series, theres a bit of trance and a bit of rock in the mix now and it all fits together really well.
Don't miss this anime... especially if you've seen Initial D before - even if you didn't really like it I think you would like Fourth Stage.
and omg that WRX is so awesome, fave car

| Let me just say that I was, and still am a huge initial D fan. The way it sucked any person who gives two hoots about cars is amazing. The fourth stage is alright, but I have to admit it's getting a bit tiring. The story is one dimensional as ever and the characters? well it's just the same reactions over and over again. I mean I guess that's the point of this fourth stage though, project D. Its about how they conquer each mountain and through that they grow as drivers. But the process is too repetitive, no matter how good the opposing driver is, Takumi is better.
On the tech side, animation is whole lot better than the first three stages and the sound is also pretty cool. At the end of the day initial D is initial D, it's still good. If you like cars you'll watch it and if there were more stages I'll still watch it. I must say though that the aura is no longer there.

| initial D is back! and now takumi and Project D are back to conquer the world!
well just the local areas around japan.
a lot more technical stuff in terms of cars. takumi battles a plethora of other rivals. from cappucino rally drivers to many others. (i can't remember).
there is essentially no difference in the 4th stage from the others.
THIS ANIME IS ABOUT RACING> NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS.
Sure they toss in a love story with that other guy, driving the yellow car, which works better than the other story. But its not really a good love story. In fact, its quite creepy.
Overall, car fans will love this. Anyone else, not really.

| The original Initial D - First stage had a good vision and premise, but it was drawn badly and a lot of the parts were kinda unrealistic and not as engaging as you wanted them to be.
In this Fourth Stage though, it is kind of amazing how much has changed... for the good.
It takes its time to go through the story rather than jump into it and this helps incredibly, because the character developement becomes amazing. And the way they build up the story and characters climaxes in the actual race scenes! Not only are they climaxed, but the music for all the race scenes are *really* astounding even though I am not one to really get into techno and all.
For all the car aficionados: The cg animation of the cars is superb. The actual ideas of the car races and strategies are more realistic and well done too!

| It is like all the other initial D series. Not really a big change in terms of animation, just the story. The only reason why i gave it a low mark is because it doesn't seem like there is really ain't anything spectacular added to the "new series at all. Maybe its just me getting boared of it!

| I'd like to think that this anime is pretty decent, as any adolescent with a motor would naturally enjoy a show all about cars and street racing. The storyline is good, but it gets to a point where it just goes cheesy and more endless cheese.
I hated the animation when I saw the first series, I winced when I saw the features of the characters. Could they be drawn any worse? I would have given the animation a 3 or less, but the CG are top-notch. I love the way the two of them work together, however it's not enough, and I think you'll find it fair that the animation will warrant a 7 and no more.
The overall story is enjoyable but it does get a bit repetitve after a while. In the first stage we saw a young man who knew nothing about cars except how to drive one, and boy did he know how to drive! It's typical Japanese heroism. The underestimated hero who comes along to kick everyones ass without realilsing what he's acheived! 'I beat him? Well he wasn't that great. I was just delivering my tofu and he got in my way so I passed him.' 'What do you mean? This guy is from team ultimate (insert random stupid name here) and he's the best driver in all of Tokyo...' You get my point? And don't get me wrong, because it totally works! But only up to a certain point until you can't hack it anymore and it becomes more like... power rangers... where the good guys never lose, even if they're driving a crap car which doesn't exist anymore against sport cars like Rx-7's and MR2's (which is why the second stage was quite a relief to see Takumi finally beaten by an Evo, because if not it really would've been ridiculous). The characters are a bit lame and boring. They don't seem to have much of a social life and don't seem to be very friendly or open. All we got are a bunch of 'cool' (maybe they're just autistic and don't like social interaction) guys who never smile and always have ladies falling at their feet. It does get a bit ridiculous and stupid after a while.
However, apart from the lameness of the characters and the cheesiness of the story, it is quite an enjoyable series! It's action packed and it does make you want to watch more and more and more... (the races that is) It really does leave an impression on you and you will be (secretly) screaming 'Overtake the g;mp you cool git!' or something along those lines! Overall, a better than average anime, which should be enjoyed by anyone who likes cars really! (If you don't then too bad...)
(Plus the music really adds to the moment. It'll have you bobbing your leg up and down unconciously if not already causing your body to dance in a manner which only seems like you're having a fit! I would highly recommend the music, but it's probably not suitable for everyone! But hey, you can't please everyone I guess!)

| I've watched the whole Inital D series and have some mangas of it as well
almost all of the stages was Great to excellent except for Extra Stage which wasnt that great
yeah from stage 1-3, extra, battle i've seen so far i would probably rate this middle of the pack
doesnt have the excitement of first or even the 2nd stage but it has its own brand of excitement of the driver Takumi turning in to a street driver pro in each and every encounter he has with even more difficult person he faces and the excitement for me is building up every new episode thats released
