| Dragon half, a weird little slapstick OVA with an unfortunately unfinished story, but what most people don't seem to realise is that this was kind of intended as a parody of anime itself.

| If you take Excel Saga, set it in a swords-and-sorcery style fantasy world, and tone down the insanity just a tad, then the result would be Dragon Half. I can see now why this show has been hailed by many as one of the funniest anime ever created. To me, it was just too short, but, in a way, that's understandable. Comedy is hard to perfect and for it to maintain a certain for a long time is a difficult task. This anime is fun and enjoyable and I recommend it to anyone who wants a good laugh.

| Well i was a little disapointed after watching two episodes of the ova(?), cause really its just two episodes.... really it feals like theres supposed to be more of the show... but alas there isnt. i guess it got cancled
ANIMATION:
The animation is old, naturally seeing as it was released in 93. The animators played around alot on this show, or so I feal because the animation style constantly changed from a kinda serious looking animation (as serious as something silly like this can get) to chibi kinda stuf which I like alot so i bumped the rateing up
SOUND:
lol the ending theme was a bach song that they added wack lyrics to... the other music wasnt that bad,,, but when the "idol singer" started singing, it was pretty,,,, yeah. Lame is probably what I would call it
CHARACTER:
Well how much do you suppose character can be developed in 43 min of show time... not tons, thats for shure. Anyway dispite the lack of time for developement, I decided that I liked the characters, and since this is a comedy, you know what kind of silly characters you can expect, both as protagonists and antagonists

Id tap that... lol yeah I might watch it again but probably not on my own

| (ADV ripped version with original Japanese stream and German and English dubs, so rewatch value is high! If you've just the subtitled version you miss a lot!)
First I read the manga. Sadly I didnt get the last manga chapters to see the conclusion of the battle between Mink and the Demon Lord Azatodeath and whether she managed to become human.
This is one of the funniest OVAs I've seen even though I knew some of the jokes after having read the manga. Probably the best fantasy/comedy anime putting Slayers to shame. And sadly the Violinist of Hameln manga (one that reaches the humour of Dragon Half) had a more dramatic anime adaptation
Animation looks mediocre but the fact is it stays faithfull to the manga's style so it becomes even funnier in some moments. You have to read the manga to understand why the animation looks so mediocre.
Sound has some funny FX and music and the voice actors are ultra-funny. Lets not forget the hilarious ending theme, probably the best ending theme in anime.
Story. Originally the manga had a very funny story. It parodises many animes and mangas (including Berserk!) in a hilarious way unseen in many mangas. The manga story continues after the tournament, till the final showdown with the Demon Lord. Here a few edits were done to squeeze the story of the adapted manga volumes (eg Mappy the Mouse isnt introduced later as in the manga, the dance between Mink and Dick Saucer is omitted too etc). Though the anime adds a couple of new jokes so even the manga readers will be delighted.
Regarding characters, two episodes were very few for good character developement. Reading the manga is necessary to know more about them before watching the anime. The anime shows some hilarious jokes and thats all.
I plan on rewatching it in English and German. If you liked the anime then read the more hilarious manga too. Too bad the anime didnt have 6 episodes at least. It could have been one of the best comedy titles.

Combining fantasy and comedy is usually a sure fire way of getting a pretty good show. No matter how silly, no matter how dumb, no matter how absurd…comedy and fantasy almost always work. Amidst the few examples that come to mind as failures is the Villgust OVA that I had no patience to finish. But that’s another story, for another time.
Dragon Half comes across as being a funny, short and unfinished OVA. It pokes fun at a lot of the fantasy anime clichés and it tries, in the limit of its possibilities, to be a worthwhile waste of one hour of the anime fan’s life. The characters that come on screen are a fun bunch, their few misadventures are in the very least amusing and the idea from where it all starts…let me be franc, it isn’t half bad.
But what actually goes and kills this is the lack of time allocated to it. It has a universe as diverse as the one from the Dragon Ball franchise and equally as diverse in beings and places; it has a good start for an adventure and a good background for the characters…but time it has not. Two episodes are just enough to show us that the anime is nothing more than the beginning of something much larger and which could’ve had quite some potential (like its later sisters of genre: Ruin Explorers and Slayers).

| Dragon Half is a story about a girl that is half dragon, half human, who searches for a magic potion to change he into full human so she can be with her idol. It's plane to see that this anime was abandoned and left unfinshed. Thats a shame really becuase I really enjoyed it and it left me wanting more. It's a slap stick comedy that I would recomend to someone who is looking for something short and sweet, rather than deep and complex. Bottom line: it's funny but saddly thats all it will ever be.

| I heard before that Dragon Half was a funny anime, and after watching both episodes, I was left with a mixture of satisfied humor and unsatisfied story. I saw lots and lots of potential for Dragon Half, but because it's incomplete and will likely stay that way forever, it ends up being nothing more than a random mix of comedy with no sense of direction.
For its time, Dragon Half's animation is decent, although they seriously need to cut back on the SD. Magic Knight Rayearth used similar SD as well, but at least it was done in the right places. Dragon Half just goes overboard, which doesn't stomach well with me. The characters were what made Dragon Half shine for me, despite its short length. The totally innocent Mink and her two friends are caught in some huge scandal from the king to slander her name. Why, I don't know, but he's got quite a number of sympathizers, including Dick Saucer, Mink's unshakeable love interest, and his own half-Slime daughter Vina who wants to put Mink down a peg or two.
Very random and comical, but it's not a total waste of time. At the very least, it'll keep a smile on your face all the way through. And the ending theme is very catchy. Dragon Half is an anime for those who don't want to think too hard about what they're watching.

| There isn't really much to talk about, since this is just a random pointless anime that should've never existed. I truely felt the meaning of "wasting time" by viewing this meaningless piece of work.
Animation: Mediocre at best, it is completely forgettable and generic, with some overuse of SD forms. But it's not a pain to watch either, so a 5 looks fair enough, IMHO.
Sound: With the exception of a wierd ED theme, nothing really stands out. It follows the animation in terms of being unmemorable and basic, but the ED theme helps to boost the score a bit to a 6.
Story: pointless nonsense that is random to the extreme. I realize this is a comedy, but at least give me something to follow, like anything to care about. The permise is comletely ridiculous that it makes it rather impossible for me to give a damn about ANYTHING, since I feel that my human intelligence would be insulted if I did.
Story wise, this OVA deserves a "0" IMHO.
Character: A bit less horrible compared to the story aspect, but still manages to generate the same feelings of indifference from me. Even though the characters are totally unremarkable, there are still some glimpses of good comedy that can come out of them. But, overall, I can't say that I liked them, since I wouldn't care at all even if there heads were to be chopped off.
In general, I think I might forget about this OVA right after I am done writing this review. As a comedy, there is very little quality in here, so if you think you like to watch intelligent comedies, then steer away, and I mean FAR away from this one.

| This is an anime of the dreaded "comedy" genre. As expected, it's full of the crap humour that I've come to expect from most anime. Basically, a couple of moments were pretty hilarious, and the rest was just bored me to the point of tears. On top of this, it has no ending, just a beginning - I'm knocking off major points for that.
Unless you're a fan of the most typical of anime comedy, the avoid like the plague...

| A funny little series that had some great moments. Animation wasn't too bad; but for an old series, it made the setting on the story fairly manageable. I seemed to think that there was so much features that could've been so great if they kept this going. That ending theme song, which has to be one of the most hilarious song I've ever heard. And all those characters were greatly amusing. The story was pretty much simple and mindful to the humor that only portrays to the fantasy genre or the RPG type of anime. I also suggest that if you like this series, that you should look into another similar series such as Mahoujin Guru Guru or Slayers; which are longer and has the same strangeness that puts forth in the entire segment. I seemed have some nostalgia on this one as well, since I've viewed this a long time ago. This would only be recommended for a starting anime and something to view for the familiar older comedy, nothing that's given somthing more to it or evolutionary for that matter.

Well, I guess it's hard to finish an Anime if you're in jail.. ^^'
Anyway, Dragon Half is one of the funniest Anime of all times!
The Animation isn't spectecular, but it's not bad either, Super Deformed is used alot for the comic effect, and it works ^^
Sound in Dragon Half isn't special too ^^' Except for the briliant ending theme, there aren't many nice tunes.
On the other hand, the voice acting is kinda good ^^ The Saiyuu for Damamaru really owns!
The Story... Well.. What story..? It isn't even finished. I guess the Anime tries to follow the Manga storyline, but it lets out some parts, then goes straight to the tournament.
I guess if it were longer, it could've been good, now it's just mediocre at it's best.
As for the Characters, Mink is soo loveable! All the characters are super funny and'll have you laughing non-stop the whole time. Because it's so short, there's no char development..
Dragon Half has high re-watch Value imho, because if you watch it again with some friends, you'll be sure to laugh about every joke again.
Because is's so damn hilarious, Dragon Half is greatly enjoying. So for all the Slapstick comedy fans out there, go watch it!

| I rarely find any anime funny anymore,but this was a nice change of pace from the serious animes i've been watching.Nice couple of episodes with no plot,just random fun and laughs.Animation was crappy,sure.Music,aside from the nice ending song,could've been better,story could have existed,but still,I had major fun watching it. ^O^ îå

| I am an easy-to-please person with regard to anime, and I read here the reviews before I bought this title. I did not enjoy this OVA as I had hoped. First, major plot holes. The kind Florida sinkholes are made of. Just the basic "why" would have sufficed. It's not rocket-science anime, so I didn't expect anything more than that. Second, SD mode is great, when used effectively. When overused, or badly used, it isn't. Third, this was the most hyperactive anime I've ever watched. Had it been funny, I could have enjoyed the nonexistent plot and flat characters, but it simply wasn't funny. I was expecting it to be nonsensical, and to enjoy it on that level, when I bought it. It was nonsensical, but not in an enjoyable way: not even in a "hahaha, this guy must have been insane when he thought of this" kind of way. Sadly, it was just boring. I can't recommend this. An incoherent, indiscernible plot and flat characters and zany off-the-wall humor would have been fine, had it actually been funny. But it wasn't. Other notes: The animation was of under-average quality, in that the main character did not maintain an even appearance outside of SD mode. (Again, not SD; her normal appearance.) I don't care how they choose to portray her, but they should maintain a consistency throughout the short series. As far as value, since I think this DVD should have been free after watching it, I can't give it high marks there. If you think you want to give it a whirl, go for it. Good luck whatever you decide. :) This is just my two cents'.

| I love this anime, I only wish there was more. It's absolutely hilarious the story about the slime half was especially funny.
Lot's of people say the animation is crappy, but I think the chibi characters make it even funnier.
Damaramu is also really cool.

| One of my all time favorites (as my handle implies).
The story is absurd, the animation is fast paced, and the humor is ridiculous.
If your willing to light up a "J", lay back on the sofa, and set your state of mind to that of a two-year-old; you'd love this movie.
Why is it so short (two 30min episodes)? Well, that would be because the creator of the anime was arrested for possession of hallucinogens. Kinda reflects in Dragon Half.

Good old-style animation (probably a little too much of this oversimplified comedy kind of drawing, but who cares), beautiful main character (I'm very fond of females with wings, tails and horns), very funny jokes - definitely must see for all comedy fans. Only one thing is bad about this OVA - it is definitely unfinished.

| ~SAUCER!~ How can one not love such humor? I suppose the sense of humor this anime has is a selective sort- silly overdramatism, absurd cultural parodies, a teen idol named Dick Saucer, a cute hamster named Mappy that turns into a huge angry guard-hamster when its friends are threatened,- to me its brilliant in its entirety. Despite the fact that the series was never produced to its full-length, I give the story a ten based on its sheer potential.

| This is the only ecchi (I think the description above should say this, although it's very mild) anime that I ever liked.
The interest for me is mostly in the humour, though, and this is definitely something I'd rewatch.

| I think I was expecting a little much when I saw this anime. I was expecting a laugh out loud type of anime that was crazier than Excel Saga. Oh boy was I wrong! It is funny, but considering it's 10 years old, don't expect too much. Personally, I only remember laughing a few times, and the anime is too short, and doesn't have definitive ending. On the plus side, the voice acting is great, both DUB & Japanese (Actually, the same voice actors that played Excel, Both English & Japanese, played Mink in this anime). The animation is a bit of a turnoff. The backrounds are lousy enough as it is, and it pissed me off when they switched from normal character designs to SD (Super Deformed) for no reason. My advice is if you can rent it, than do so. Don't waste your money buying it. For me it's one of those titles that you watch once and then never again.

| Funny as hell. This one will really keep you laughing. Already seen this more than 4 times and I still laugh whenever I watch it. The bad part is that it is unfinished--it's clear once you get up to the outtake at the very end. And the manga is longer, as some say. So definitely a follow-up is needed. As it is, though, this is pretty good.
