| If the first 15 seconds of actual anime footage of half of the episodes are naked boob shots, you practically know that it will amount to nothing good - no matter what they try to do later on. The fact that they have to 'hook' you with breasts is just low and says a few things about their confidence in their work. Anyway, this is no exception. While on paper, this series has some pretty innovative ideas and original bases of storyline, the way they executed it as well as the 'ghost stories' totally ruin the experience.
Horrible story situations aside, this series has a lack of any interesting characters. Everyone has an extremely one-track mind despite the creator's attempts to say otherwise. (What is with the intersperesed kungfu fighting and childhood past flashbacks?) Furthermore, they gave no good reason to put Misaki into this S&M business. She can tie up loose ends and make money in other ways - they just wanted some excuse to put her into various costumes. Furthermore, the comedy about her lack of pubic hair didn't strike me funny in any way, shape or form. In the end, any form of character development fails miserably.
Animation of this series was not bad and it made it somewhat watchable. If only the character designs weren't absolutely horrid, then this would at least have some sort of redeeming aspect. Voice acting is pretty horrid as well... it made Misaki's character even more confusing. I think they aimed to make her something like Haruka from FLCL in both personality, looks and behavior but in the end she's just some weird mish mosh of stuff that doesn't really make any sort of logical continuity. In short, this four episode mini-series is absolutely pointless for anyone who has no idea what or where this story is about.

| Okay, so yes, maybe I wanted to like this. Maybe, even with all the hatred, I still wanted to have some hope that this wouldn't suck at all. The promotional art was so sexy and cool, that I did not see HOW it could suck.
Well, now I do. This is utterly mediocre. Poor animation for the time, a tired storyline (done well, but not fantastically), and the most cliched cast of supporting characters you've ever seen, I know Teireizoku Daydream wanted to be erotic, cool and amazing. However, it ends up sleazy, dull and dare I say, a tad boring (odd for how ecchi it is). There are highlights - the main character is amazingly fleshed out (for an ecchi show), and there are some funny/stupid jokes that aren't hallf bad. However, I would only recommend this to people who like OAVs as much as I do. Others (read - mainstream anime viewers) will not like this at all.
But if you want something different in feeling, yet the same in style, this is for you. When I say this, I mean that the main character is so different. She's angry and lazy and sad and happy all at the same time, unlike most anime women, who are one-note pretty much all the time (at least until their big emotion scene comes up, and they reveal a tragic past. When Misaki reveals a tragic past, she does it without the usual dramatics). However, aside from our unique Misaki, we have the same formula, just with a different cast.

| I bought the region 1 DVD for this on a whim and when it arrived, I wondered if I should have bothered! The front cover shows a really tacky image of Misaki and I'm not really into S&M *lol* but after finishing Wedding Peach, I need something short to fill in the time before bed and thought "why not watch Ghost Talker's Daydream". I kinda breathed a sigh of relief when I noticed the rating was 16+, meaning it wasn't going to be a naff gratuitous sex story - phew!!
Basically it was a mixture of comedy and drama; the comedy made up of the S&M/ecchi parts and the drama made up of the actual storyline, which was actually really good, quite intense and probably the best ghost story I've seen in a long long time. Thankfully this does mostly concentrate on the ghost stories and only has a few sexy/S&M moments, which as I said were very comical and added a little light relief ^_^

| An interesting short series. The dominatrix angle is obviously just to hook people in but the ghost medium story has potential. I wish there were more episodes because the character development felt like there was some depth being hinted at but it ended up being pretty flat. It felt like there was more there that we weren't getting. Probably have to hunt down the manga for this one.
The animation was good but not stellar. The first episode in particular had some really rough character animation. The drawing quality showed the manga heritage but the tranlation to animation left something to be desired.

| I really think that this is a perfect anime, because you can't talk of it in separetly terms. The characters are very good, misaki is a goddes souchirou is fun and the story is good... It's true that the manga is better than ovas, you have to read it... It's the first time that I like a manga too much...
Excuse my poor english

| Argh! I really MUST start reading some reviews and not only the synopsis. This was simply horrible.
The animation was just bad... terrible for a 2004 anime. The backgrounds weren't too bad, but the character designs... were a shame, really.
The soundtrack was almost non-existent (except for the ending song).
The story was BAD! I really have no words left to describe it. Yes, it all happened really fast, but I'm glad it did, or I would not been able to watch it (25 minutes were enough). What was this supposed to be anyway? A mystery story mixed with a bit of mistic stuff? Certainly seemed like it, but just barely.
Really, do NOT watch this. The story is poorly developed, and I think that even if it was well developed it would never be very good. Also the characters are so silly, it hurts. Only if you'd like to see some anime chick, walking around almost naked will you enjoy this. I so, did NOT need to see this... makes me loose faith in anime. :p

| Unfortunetly the anime adaptation of the manga "Vulgar Ghost Daydream" does not retain the same vibe that the manga gives off.
I love the manga: the characters, the story and the eery vibe it gives off while reading it.
but as I said earlier the OVA doesn't retain the fun and lasting appeal the manga had.
Maki isn't as apathetic, souchiro isn't as funny and I just didn't have fun watching it.

| Overall, the first episode has left me with a very low expectation for the rest of the series. Do not let the cute little picture of the main character on the side of the screen fool you, this is an anime in which half of it looks like she is Armitage(with about half the clothes). The story is far from original but it has potential. The animation, while very disturbing in the excessive use of her in a "comfortable work uniform", does get credit for making the characters seem a lot more dimensional than most animes do. The music(or lack of) doesnt really hurt the anime, but doesnt help either and the ED wasnt that good. The characters are cliche. The only one mildly interesting is the suite guy, probably cause he can fight like a punk and provides most,if not all, of the comedy bits to this show. Besides that, though, I dont like the direction this anime is going in but, hey, if they are able to improve on it I will think of changing my review to be a little fairer. For the time being, your welcome to watch the 1st ep.(only one that is out) but don't expect much from it.
It definitly isnt bad, but doesnt look good either. If only she could stay in clothes more often...
