| After finishing the brilliant Yotsubato manga I thought I'd give a look at this too. I havent watched the anime and after reading the manga the anime is put further back on my anime-to-watch list.
Too bad because Yotsubato was very nice and funny manga. Obviously the short panels didnt help for a better story and more funny moments. I seriously dislike that kind of humour where actually nothing at all happens. If this manga is supposed to make you relax, Yotsubato does this better and Yokohama Shopping Log manga even better.
One of the most boring mangas I read and I skipped some pages. Probably vertical panel mangas arent to my liking. Same feeling while I was reading Ebichu.
If you dislike it from the first pages already, avoid it alltogether.
Nice and cute design though.

| Its an impressive series. Azumanga chapters are about 4 panels each (some have 5) but the series still delivers the funnies and truths about everyday life

| A must read. This is probably one of the best vertical-paneled mangas I have ever read.
It's horribly funny, random, and adorable.

| My problem with the manga version of Azumanga Daioh starts early and last till the end - The characters are way too empty. The manga is formed with collection of four boxed strip episodes. This are clearly immensely short. Now in all these strip not much can be done. It is hard to really establish the connection between the readers and the characters. Despite this problem, I think they could've done a lot better with four volumes. But the manga is just constantly bombarding us with jokes that are many times funny but very empty.
also these short strips make it impossible to establish any real moments that we can remember. there is no develop in any of the moments. I think they should have made the whole testing for college process into a longer lengthed chapter in order to convey the emotion a lot better. There are just too many inconsistencies, and stoppages of emotion in this manga. I ust couldn't really enjoy it.
Also in the anime they had voice actors!!! Perhaps I may be fair for this criticism. Since I myself am a big advocator of looking at mangas and animes separately to see their true worth for themselves. But in this case that will have to be broken, because voice acting is what made Azumanga Daioh so amazing. It is just not the same.
Character designs are absolutely generic. There are time where I couldn't tell who is who. That is a big problem for me. there no detail background art of any sort. In may way this manga really is effortless manga not because the makers didn't put in any, but because it is not necessary. Designs really don't because much merit.
Despite all these problems, Azumanga Daioh is still pretty funny and it is a super fast read. If you wanna kill some time in the airport or in a college class with a boring professor, I think this is a good pick up. Although a disappointment, not a complete failure to disregard it all together...

| WHAT?! No one has reviewd this?! My God! What is the world coming to...
One word to describe this is excellent. Not as good as Kiyohiko's Yostuba, but they're almost equal.
