I agree with most of the other people that reviewed this. El-Hazard 2 was somewhat of a dissapointment. I ran out and bought it shortly after seeing the origonal. Despite this I didn't totally hate this OVA. If you are a fan of El-Hazard it is worth watching. The story is not nearly as good but it still has the same memorable characters.

What can i say? This sequel should have never been made.

Animation:
I've noticed that the animation is of a lower quallity than in the first OVA, wich is strange considering that this is shorter and came out 2 years after the first...

Sound:
Well the Op/Ed themes are of about the same value as in OVA 1, but the Op is better and Ed is worst.... Voice acting was ok.

Story:
First of all it's not only the shortness of the story that makes it bad, since we're already aquanted with the characters and their relations and with the world... but the story itself wich gets even dumber, it's like some sort of remodelled and shortned story copied after the first one, i mean we get the same Jinnai and Makoto confruntation, another Infurita, another revenge weapon and a doomsday device, and in the end the sme hero... but the bigest problem is that the story just looks stupid and uninteresting... the only thing that salvaged the story was the ocasional comedy.

Characters:
Even the characters seem to be stupider and more childish than in the first... especially Jinnai... and i still hate Makoto, yeah i have such an animosity towards goddy-good characters, you know, the kind that always sais "we can all live in peace, i know deep inside yourself there's a good person even dough you've killed thousants".. come on, what kind of idiot would say that??

Value and Enjoyement:
As value it's not worth much, since it doesn't bring anything new to the original story, maybe just the marriage between Miz and Sensei...Watch this oNLY is you're a fan of El Hazard.

I wasn't very impressed with this addition to the El-Hazard universe, it was a bit of a rehash of the first series and did nothing to further develop any of the characters. Just like it's predecessor, the show suffers from being too short. If you're simply looking to spend more time with the characters you couldn't get enough of, then this series will work for you, but I found it disappointing.

There's not much to say about this uber short "sequel" to the first OVA. But if there's anything to describe it's overall quality it would have to be "Disney Sequel." It's basically something to make a little more money off a popular title. In fact, I'm not even going to write anything in the "Optional Field" just because it's not worth the effort. The story is pretty generic and the new characters are... pretty generic. Actually, the whole four episodes is just one huge mess of generic. There's no more character development to continue from the first OVA nor is there any exciting story. If movies exist that can have a deep and engaging storyline, then a 4 episode OVA sure can. They both end up being about the same length anyway... And now that I think about it, why didn't AIC just make it into a movie. That way I, and anyone else bored enough to watch it, wouldn't have had to waist our time skipping through the intro and credits before and after every episode. In any case, take a gander it if you feel like it. You probably won't hate it, but I doubt anyone will remember it much.

Well, I thought the first magnificient world was about avergae, and this one is no different. I only watched both of them because i wanted to see something less serious to relax a bit . (i am having finals for my freshman year, so it fits with this time for me)

The animation is much better here, and they tried to make the sound better, but it should've improved more within two years i believe.

The story is cornier here, but still told in the same amusing way,,, The better part here is that it is more balanced. The comedy and drama mixed up better than the first OVA, but it doesn't have that much of an effect on the general feel for the story.

The characters are the same as before, so it's the same score here. i thought the new character kila was good, but didn't fit with the general lighthearted tone of El Hazard.

Not much value here, since it's quiet a short and forgettable story.

Overall, this OVA and its predecessor served thier purposes for me as being "on the go" anime, as i preassumed. Those kind of animes are good to watch in exam times for me, like now:)

After seeing the first OVA, this was a big dissappointment.
It's only redeeming quality is that i continues the same storyline of the original, but you can get a much better continuation by getting El-Hazard-The Alternate World.

Really not as good as the first OAV. Animation is the same. I still don't like the theme song. Story isn't nearly as intersting as the first OAV, but it's not horrible. Characters are still pretty static accept for the other Ifurita. It was an okay OAV in the end, but it wasn't anything memerable.

If you liked "El Hazard: The Magnificient World" story or the characters and want more, then try this.
Animation is clearly better, all the cast is re-designed and you can see how the story of El Hazard continues.

But this series is worse than the original. Starts very well, and it's very funny but it doesn't have the magic of it's predecessor and the story is predictable and... typical.

I think the studio should have left the story as it was.

While El Hazard 2 can be enjoying at times, it's brought down by a boat load of problems. The 4 episode second set of OVAs starts off well enough, great in fact. On the day of Miz and Fugisawa's wedding, Fugisawa gets cold feet and bolts for the mountains. Of course it's up to the rest of the El Hazard crew to chase him down. The first episode is a riot, with the Fatora using her likeness to Makoto in order to make advances on Shayla-Shayla, and Nanami. Sadly after the first episode things start to fall apart. The reappearance of an Ifurita clone, and the poorly developed villain Kalia, don't help, and the whole end battle is fairly anticlimactic. Fun at first, but quickly deteriorating into mindlessness, El Hazard 2 is worth watching at the very least for the first episode.

Not as good as the Magnificent World 1, but is worth watching nonetheless.

All the categories are decreasing, except maybe Animation.

Well I have to say. This is a disgrace to the first OVA. I was really dissapointed when I saw it. What I was expecting was some further details on what happend with Ifurita and Makoto...im still waiting for it..
