| This OVA is hard to rate in my opinion, but for a lover of Bubblegum Crisis world, it's the paradise. It’s easily the best installment of the entire franchise. For the ones who don't know anything about Bubblegum Crisis, let say that it's a franchise in the like Ghost In The Shell The Movie. A lot of questions are in the air about humanity, cybernisaton and AI. For me, these questions are more and more of actuality. The series bring us the questions we should ask ourselves before getting even further.
Here is a little resume of the series. Mega Tokyo as been built after an earthquake destroyed the original Tokyo. Genom, a company highly known for it's production of robots, named boomers, helped the reconstruction of Tokyo. Since then, Genom is always involved in different activities, sometime highly illegal, for the maintain of the reputation of the company. Boomers are going berserk due to their humanity and their freedom of thinking. That's where the A.D. Police enter in action. 5 years before the arrival of the Knights Saber, Leon, one of the main character of the Bubblegum Crisis series, and Gena, her partner, are going on scenes crime of berserk boomers to maintain the order of the city that Genom refuse to take responsibility.
What is human and what is a machine? What is the thin line between the two if you can't even define what is AI if AI is our own way to reproduce humanity? You may think that I am going to far by saying this, but the whole OVA is about this and every story reflect more and more the inability to clearly categorize what is human if AI is made to be human.
Sincerely, this OVA is the best thing I saw wearing the Bubblegum Crisis name. Sure, the side universe of Bubblegum Crisis is A.D. Police, but everything is connected, Boomers, Knights Saber, main characters and the futuristic 80's feel with original music that feel right on. One of the main thing always present inside Bubblegum Crisis universe is music, the music is sooooo gooood, if you need an anime soundtrack, get the Bubblegum Crisis ones, especially the Vocal editions. With Susumu Hirasawa works, these are my favorites anime OST.
Enough talk, let's get to some more formal points.

| I should have watched this straight after Bubblegum Crisis. For only 3 episodes it is a nice OVA and features some of the traits that make anime so unpopular, namely violence, gore, blood sex and a dose of cyberpunk.
I found the anime darker than BC, considering that the last episodes of BC were more comedy driven, though the first were OK.
Every episode had a different character and wasnt just focusing on the AD police members. Because of the short length the Police members have a fleeting presence and are focusing mainly on action.
The action scenes are plenty and violent. I thought too the last episode to be similar to Robocop but probably it was more influenced by a sci-fi novel.
The first episodes featured female while the third focused on a male cyborg. Many of the themes would later find their apex in GITS SAC,but it is interesting to see AD Police as on of the last animes of its genre.
Animation was very good at times though they used in some scenes still-frames. Music wasnt as rich as BC though the end credits featured an English rock song
Stll the title is dark and it adapts the cyberpunk atmosphere quite well.
If you like sci-fi,action and violence this title is a good choice. THough not as good as BC it is more dark (too dark to be memorable). If on the other hand you like a dose of humour check also Cyber City Oedo.

| I though this was one of the better anime shows out there. It has some very good storys (I love the third episode, it has got to be the best.) Its animation is dated, but was in fact very goo for its day. the colors are a little iffy but the story and characters more than make up for it. Don't listen to d_flex this is one really good anime don't miss it.

| This animation has been on the bottom ten list for too long and its really not that bad. Giving an anime a bad rating because the animation doesn't live up to todays standard is dumb. I consider the art work to be good. The animation movement may not be fluid like todays animation but this was made over ten years ago and there are far worse animations being made than this. What I really like about this series is the story which has elements from good science fiction stories like Blade Runner and other sci-fi classics that share similar themes of man and machine. There is some good character developement of Leon from Bubble Gum Crisis who is a rookie in AD Police with a more serious attitude.
If you enjoy sci-fi movies/novels, or enjoyed some of the themes in Bubble Gum Crisis, then I recommend giving this animation a try. Overall I would give this animation closer to an 8 but no one else seems to be reviewing this series.
