| I started watching this anime, as i saw the pic of the main character and thought that she looked like Kurata Sana of Kodocha. And as I'm always searching for another gem like Kodocha, i thought i'll give this one a try.
So, i'm going to split my opinions about this anime into positive opinions (+) and negative opinions (-)
+ I really like its basic storyline. The Alices are a very interesting and new concept, and i also like the school. The character development is very nicely done. and i really like it
- Unfortunately, ithe storyline doesn't flow very nicely yet. It skips from "lets concentrate on her powers" to " lets concentrate on his alter life" to "lets show the audience how great hotaru is".
+ the animation is very cute, very simple, very colorful and makes a happy mood
- the music .. the opening song is very annoying .. the ending song bores me, and the songs in the middle are repetitive ..
+ i really like the characters
mikan is very likeable
and natsume is really cute! i really like him
hotaru annoys me a little bit sometimes, but she's nice as well
All in all, its a nice and enjoyable anime which i really like and will definately follow!
If you like this anime, you should also check Kodomo no Omocha - Kodocha out!

| this show is so kawaii and hilarious.this is good series and im a big fan.
animation-i love the animation it looks so kawaii and very clear.i like how the characters are drawn especially .
sound-the theme song is very cathcy and the voice actors for this series were very good and actually made the charcters sound like children.
plot-this plot is not originol and has been done before but this anime does it the best i love how all the characters have cool alices and i like to watch the action and comedy scenes.
character-this anime has the best cast of characters ever in a anime in my opinion.they are all kawaii and are just to cool.i love mikans attitude and hotarus sarcasm and the rest of the cast is also good and i like the rel;ationship between the characters espicially natsume and mikan.
value-i would definetly rewatch this and buy the complete series when it comes out on dvd.
enjoyment-this is one of the most enjoyable series youll laugh and cry at times but mainly laugh . this is definetly worth the time so i suggest you go watch it i highly recommened it.

| Whee!! This show is SOOOO funny!! yet in some parts, it can also get quite serious, the weird thing is, IT FLOWS! It's not like it's weird for it to suddenly get serious. The opening and ending is so cute. The opening wakes me up but the ending just bores me. But it's still cute. The animation and all. Story, it's not all THAT overused, and it's quite original. Characters, they each have a different personality, which make them all seem different and solid, if you know what I mean. I would so get it dubbed, even if I already have it subbed. Enjoyment, YES, i really enjoyed it. It made me laugh until I fell on to the floor.

| The opening theme I don't think is horrible, but it's annoying listening to it every episode.
The best thing about this anime is the charecters. They're all cute, well voice acted, cool, etc. They're all fun charecters, and it's mostly the charecter that make me want to continue watching. If their personalities, charecter designs, and voice acting are not enough to make you think of them as unique, they have their 'alice' powers as well.
The animation and sound are good. I've kind of got a mixed opinion as far as the opening theme is. I don't think it's overly good, and it's annoying to listen to it through every episode (I just skip it). It isn't bad, though, imo.
The story is kind of cliche, but it's suiting for a kids anime. The whole 'alice' thing is fun, gives charecters a room to develope, and makes the charecters unique.
I don't think this anime is overly comedic. It's kinda funny in parts, but not overly. Again, it's a kids anime, though, so whatever.
The only gripe I have, and it doesn't really have to do with the anime at all, is that it's being subbed very slowly. Oh well... something's better then nothing.

| This review refers to the 5 episodes I have seen so far. Starting from the top, I actually enjoyed the opening theme song and animation whereas a few other reviews i've read for this series have noted how annoying they were. It's not the generic pop + distorted metal guitars and solos you're probably used to hearing in anime music, but I find it highly enjoyable.
Quick run down of scores given
Animation - I gave it an 8. It's not flawless but it is still very good for what I presume is a syndicated TV series in japan.
Sound - 9, the music is very happy and fits the mood of the character it supports or the scenes it's behind.
Story - 7, the lowest score of my ratings. It's the "gifted school for X" plotline we have all seen in live action media, books, anime, video games. Still, I find it has a lot of possibilities for character development, and I also assume it allows another scenario where japanese animators can put little girls into. Moving on..
Character - 10, all the characters are well voice acted and Mikan is very endearing. I would challenge anyone who watched the series to dislike her bouncy, vibrant personality. I think some of Hotaru's gags could have been done better, but this is a children's anime in japan so I keep that in mind when critiquing it.
Value - 9 I would definately recommend this anime to anyone who enjoys light hearted stories. The comedy aspect of the series isn't as strong as other reviewers make it out to be, seeing as how the gags are targetting children....
Enjoyment - 10 However... keeping that in mind, you can view it for what it is. A cute, light hearted adventure for Mikan and Hotaru through the magical school. This is one of those series that just engulf you and make you feel good, without too much cerebral activity.
Overall the series is very bright, in imagery and ambient tone and it makes me smile whether I realize it or not.

| Gakuen Alice is one of them anime that is truly entertaining. It is a shame that the subs for it is very slow. It's sad how unrepresented this anime is. Hopefully there will be a subbing group that will see how good this anime is and pick it up.
Anways, I've only seen up to episode 16 and the show is really funny and the characters are very kute.
Basically the story is about individuals with unique talents or in other words "Alices". It is very interesting, since everyone has a different magical power. No one is the same. Some seem pretty pointless and some are very cool.
Mikan is our main character/hero. She is laugh-out-loud hilarious. She is also very kind-hearted and adorable. The other chacaters are very entertaining. Ranging from Hotaru to Ruka-pyon!
This is definitely an underrated show. It needs for coverage so that others can see and experience a really entertaining show. Hopefully this will happen in the future. Gakuen Alice is not a show to be missed!

| Why isn't it more popular?
Why did the subs stop coming out (it's not licensed, you know)?
It's a real pity (the same thing happened to Twin Spica, another great yet underrated series). I think the reason might be horrible OP as well as
somehow uninteresting first episode (don't let it fool you).
Anyway, I'm at the 14 episode right now, watching without subtitles, which is still not that easy for me.
This is such a great series - the main characters, Mikan her friend Hotaru, and all the other kids at the Alice school are funny and extremely likable.
The story itself isn't perhaps very original - there's a secluded school for kids with exceptional powers and skills, i.e. "Alice". Mikan is pretty simple-minded yet persistant type, as she's making her way through daily life at this peculiar instituion. Of course nothing is as it seems, and soon we have some dark plots unravelling (those powers are pretty valuable and sometimes dangerous, you know).
The very humour, characters and hilarious gags are done so well that the whole mix seems fresh and enjoyable. To me this is one of the best series of 2004, mainly because apart from the funny story and characters, the producers don't try to push any fanservice at you, or use "magical power" theme in boring, traditional way.
In brief, I recommend this highly, although I am afraid it will disappear without a trace, since no subs means that only a small group will have a chance to enjoy it.
One more thing - the music - please don't mind the horrible OP, there's some pretty cool jazzy background sounds which fit exceptionally well, and the ED song is also ok.

| A charming program to say the least, Gakuen Alice appeals to me on so many levels. At its core is a very interesting and fun character, Mikan, and the great lengths to which she goes to see and be with her beloved best friend Hotaru, who is likable but has done nothing at all to merit Mikan's loyalty to her that defies anything that stands in her way.
I'm looking forward to more as it has got me so hooked into it. The character designs have a quantifiable resemblance to Kodocha, but Mikan is far cuter and more interesting than Sana...to me at least.

| This anime is so cool, that I am liking it more and more. It somehow reminds me of Harry Potter, where all the children have different abilities.
I have only seen the last four episodes, and so far the character development pace, is going well. I sense a chemistry between Mikan-chan and Natsume (the fire kid). A lot ppl are hoping that some romance can develop between the two.
The OP music is awesome, it makes me want to dance ( he he he)...
I will rate this again after I see a few more episodes.

| I've only seen two episodes of this anime and I can't help but want to watch more. Mikan is reason enough to watch as it is. Funny, neurotic, and not afraid to stand her ground. Keep on smiling, Mikan-chan!
If the hopelessly adorable and hyper main character doesn't get you, perhaps all the gags will. Complete with a slightly annoying but really catchy opening and little kids who can use their "Alices" -- much like superpowers -- willy-nilly. I can't wait to see more!

| I really love this series so far. I have only seen up through episode four though because that is all that is out. The main character reminds of a mix between Sana from Kodocha and Sakura from Card Captor Sakura. I really love all the characters and they have a lot of potential. The character of Natsume is really interesting and he reminds me of a cross between Hayama and Shaorin. Also Mikan's "Alice" has lots of potential. Lots of cool stuff could be done with her power and I am really looking forward to how they develop it. I really look forward to each episode. There is only one group subbing it in English and they have been coming out pretty slow with it. I am hoping boosting the rating might get other groups interested in subbing it so more will come out. There are at least 8 out but only four are subbed.

| I am really hooked with this series after watching 4 of it.. (have been checking for new releases everyday >_<)
The lead heroine reminds me alot of Sana chan from kodomo no omocha. Really hyper and genki. Then the gags are really funny especially when the heroine and her best friend are interacting. They make a good comical duo.
But don't expect it to be a airy, fun filled anime. In the first episode, it already showed one dark aspect of life. Heard the manga is darker.
