| Miami Guns is a very funny underrated parody of (among other things) the buddy-cop genre. The twist: the two badly paired cops are both girls, and the setting is a ruthless future world where cops are goons hired by the rich to keep the city clean.
The humour is a bit like Excel Saga, minus a lot of non-sequiturity, if that's even a word. As such, if you watched ES and thought it a bit too over the top, you'll probably love MG.
The humour is most definitely the series' strong point, falling a bit short in the graphics and sound areas.

| Bottom line is it made me laugh, and when it comes to comedy that's really all that matters. It took a couple of viewings of the first volume for me to get into it, and by the time I did I was hooked. Yao's antics had me in stitches and the combination of her and the stoic dead-serious Lu is just gold. Yes combinations like that have been done before but who cares... Miami Guns is alot like most of the other anime parodies but not as off-the-wall as Excel Saga or Abenobashi which could make this title appealing to those who couldn't stand Excel. Nevertheless, just leave your brain at the door as you would with other comedies and just enjoy.

| There are 2 kinds of anime series: known ones and obscure ones. This is most definitely an obscure series and that’s a shame. Miami Guns is an excellent comedy-action anime, lacking a storyline but basing itself on a great cast of characters and great humor. Basically, the anime offers everything a standard dual character comedy anime would offer: great character interaction, great fun, moments to be remembered and a tea spoon of character development only that this one brings about parodies of western films and situations.
From the very beginning, the viewer is greeted by a standard comedy couple: hyper-active, annoying, strong character and a calm, calculated, smart one, meaning Yao and Lu. While Yao is somewhat of the main character Lu is a greatly developed character from start to end. The characters that the anime introduces aren’t the most original ones possible but they are extremely enjoyable. Be it the lone gunman, the scientist, the chief, the bad-guys, the father (identical to the boss from Evangelion) or any others, they are substantial and fun to watch. There is a gay couple that appears throughout the anime and that may be considered a bit disturbing. Yao was annoying to say the least about her, her inconstant character being one of the black spots in this anime. She is far too stupid and powerful to enjoy…personal opinion. The cast is wonderful to watch in action I can say that their lack of originality is being counter-balanced by their usefulness.
MG is an episodic anime. There is little to bind it together from head to toe. The only story that there is, it is in the last 3 episodes. And that’s the point where everything almost completely crumbles. But, that aside, the main factor why this anime is great is the great humor. The parodies from films such as Die Hard (there’s even a guy drawn like Bruce Willis who is actually immortal) or the wicked character fun moments (Yao going primal) or even the insane situations (a beauty pageant where Yao is the target for about 1000 assassins), all are extremely well directed and manage to keep themselves interesting.
I seem to be praising this anime more than I would usually do in a review and that’s because I was very impressed with its sheer simplicity in being fun. What don’t tick right are the last 3 episodes. The experimental story in this and the character personality change was horrible and lacking originality more than it is tolerable. The try of introducing some drama in the anime is wasted from the first shot. It is somewhat saved by the last episode which gets back in the rhythm that the anime had set until that point.
A good series, with good music and voices, great animation, lousy story, good characters, fun episodes, great situation and a nice atmosphere, MG is the kind of anime that is remembered for the characters(Lu was very enjoyable) and the light-heartedness which fills every episode. I will definitely re-watch, if not the whole thing, at least the bits I most enjoyed.

| Burn up on crack. Really, that's the best way to describe Miami Guns. These two gals make the clowns over at team Warrior look like the freakin' FBI. Gun's suprisingly intelligent episodes take a lot of jabs at other anime, so if you're an anime vet there will be plenty of times you say to yourself "omg, they did _not_ just do that..." The initial d episode inperticular is probably one of the funniest. From Detective Hachiya Roku to his Trueno squad car, this is just an insane show. If you can catch on to all the puns and parody you'll love this for sure. Every episode makes fun of something. That, combined with the kind of colateral damanged these gals cause rivaling only that of the dirty pair, good times are soon to follow.

| Hey... I like it. Not too funny or not trying to be funny, but it's sure funny as hell. I can laugh agian and again while watching this haliries series, jokes wasn't lame and they stay in the bound of humanity. Also the story are really going somewhere unlike other stupid comedy where they don't do anythign but stupid things.
I thought this one was gonna be trash, but amazingly it's prove me wrong. The story acatually happen with good characters and their relationship match out. They're not joke all the time but they can be silly sometimes. Their friendship, love, and guns... really had a good mix with these kind of anime. Overall this series is not SUCK! It's really HAVE STORY(seriously!) and it's GOOD(seriously!(again))

| Sometimes taking chances pays off.
I saw this at the store for a very cheap price so I decided to pick it up. Otherwise, I probably would never have watched it just judging from the cover. But I am very happy with my decision to give it a try.
I did not expect much from Miami Guns. Maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much. I was surprised to find myself chuckling at Yao's crazy antics. While the animation isn't anything special I found that it did not take away from the story at all.
Everything about Miami Guns was done just right. It never takes itself too seriously all the while delivering some good comedy entertainment with a little action mixed in. If Excel Saga was a little too over the top for you (it sure was for me) Miami Guns maybe just what you're looking for.

| Highly enjoyable anime that makes fun of itself in most cases. Not as zany as "Excel Saga" - but delivers just as many laughs. Both female leads are pleasing to watch, and the mixture of roudy girl / "by the book" girl works extreamly well. For just wanting to pick up an anime series with some fan service - this one really surprised me. Excellent in all aspects.

| I cant find a bad reason not to watch this show...Actually, Miami Guns is pretty good. I like the voice acting, music, animation and story. Great Character development between Yao and Lu and the rest of the characters (Good chemistry between Yao and Lu). There are very funny parts on each episode and at least the show background is in Miami, instead of Japan (for a change..=)...)
Anyway, give this show a try. You will not regret it. Some ecchi parts, Mild violence and Funny jokes (smell some excel saga and shinobuden gags here) make Miami Guns a MUST watch! at least I am still watching and enjoying!

| Miami guns is a little known title from 2000 by studio TAC. This show is really a hidden gem for anime fans. It follows the adventures of two policewomen in a very "American" looking city. Lu is the calm, and cool-headed one and Yao is the wild and completely crazy one. The humor relies heavily on parody and American audiences will probably enjoy some of the humor even more than the Japanese audicnce. Being an Initial D fan, my favorite ep so far has been the Initial D parody but overall many of the eps are worth watching even if some of the humor is Excel Saga-like where you are left with the feeling of "what the...". I recommend all anime fans to watch this at least once.
