I really expected a lot from this movie, I thought it will be as good as the last eps of the series, but sadly I was just disappointed. Well, it's not that it's bad but it was just like watching a regular filler episode stretched out to reach 60 minutes. I expected it to contain lots of interesting events, but there was none of them.

The story takes place before the last ep of the series, a few days before Godai and Kyoko got married. There was a misunderstanding between the two about a letter Kyoko is waiting for. Obviously, Godai got a little jealous and he kinda doubts Kyoko. After things are resolved then it's "the end".

What a disapponitment.

My impression after watching this is that someone switched the writers with the animators.

Very sloppy animation overall, especially on the characters. Yagami, for example didnt even look similar to the tv series version.

There isnt much of a story here either. I really cant tell what was the main plot in this movie. I mean-there is one mystery, but once unraveled you will find it was a rather overblown minor thing. And the characters were seriously oversensitive to anything, it seems. Very shallow dialogues were abundant, in my opinion.

In case you dont know, its supposed to be watched after the series.

The ending sequence was done very nicely and I liked the song that went with it.

There's a couple of funny moments so the Maison Ikkoku movie wasnt a waste of time. More than anything this was a major fanservice.

Follows the same theme and atmosphere as the TV series. Kind of like a more hilarious insert that happens in the last few episode's time frame but is omitted because it ruins the whole mood of the wedding and settling down of the two.

I watched this immediately after I finished the series, so I was kind of disappointed. I was hoping more of a continuation afterwards, none of this 'suspicion' type of stuff that I thought should have been resolved already. However, overlooking these things, its quite enjoyment. Its Ikkoku humor at its best. Furthermore, Kyoko finally makes a semi full confession of her feelings. So, if you want to see that, then this is a must!!!!

Characters all come back to give this series a more sense of finality for a final goodbye.
My favorite character, Yagami looks so weird in this movie, her hair looks so weird... and who the heck is Nikkaido?!?! since when did this guy come ..

Animation is definitely very different, but just like it took time to get used to the animation in the series, it is pretty easy to get used to.

Sound.. same voices... oh. The Dog finally has a good woof.

Overall, nothing impressive - doesn't leave a lasting feeling at all. Just a good way to sum up the whole entire series and to present a little in between storyline that is missed out in the anime series.

This felt like a "look-how-pretty-we-can-make-the-characters" movie, it didn't add much to the story, but it was a nice farewell to the series, which btw is on a shared no1 place in my hall of fame :) This is a must see if you liked the series :)

More of an extended episode than anything else. The Maison movie happens a few days before Kyoko and Godai's wedding and tries to wrap up some of the loose ends with the characters in the story. Everyone from the series drops by Ikkoku-kan to congraduate the bride and groom, as well as get into a few last crazy situations. The animation quality got bumped up a bit from the TV series, but the style changed for the worse. After 96 episodes of the TV series, it's hard to associate the characters with their more modern looks. The only Movie installment of Maison Ikkoku to date, this is a treat for fans of the series who want to stop by Ikkoku-kan one last time.

To me this was a brilliant piece of work. The characters were all there and for some reason reminded me of classic movies like Clerks or Mallrats. It had the same atmosphere as that. Everything taking place in that one apartment building and most of all the comedy was fantastic. I loved the movie and I think it more than lived up to its TV Series counterpart.

The maison ikkoku movie was a bit disapointment. Its just a long episode with a better animation but it doesnt have the ikkoku warm feeling. This movie is a episode between episode 95 and 96. Almost all the character from the tv serie comes to ikkoku.

This just ties a few of the loose ends and is sort of a farewell movie for the series. Taking place a while before the wedding, it’s just almost like 3 episodes of MI in one really.

The animation got better and a bit clearer for me. I think that it’s good they kept the characters’ looks roughly (not as much change as New Kimagure Orange Road Movie anyways) the same. The sound was still like the series’ and nothing much has actually changed in terms of almost everything.

I liked the fact that you get that good old feeling about MI once again. This movie is like a big ensemble of most of the characters in the MI series, which was nice to see.

If you haven’t seen the MI series, this would look a bit boring and you probably won’t like it, however if you have seen the MI series and even if you found it a little bit interesting, you should give this a try, I like it, but it wasn’t as good as it could have bee, they could have made it an “after wedding movie instead.
