| Referred to as the “fifty-second” episode of Kaleido Star, this OVA (titled New Wings: Extra Stage) centers on Rosetta and her dream to create a stage of her own. This is all fine and dandy, but there is no reason why this shouldn’t have been part of the series itself. It could have easily fit in with the arc in which Rosetta is first introduced into the series. As it is though, this OVA is only about twenty-five minutes long and it starts something without finishing it. See that last line of animenfo’s description.
What was the old secret hidden in the picture?
Oh, you won’t find that out.
And I was somewhat interested in discovering a little something-something about Fool. Depending on how much you liked the series, this OVA should or should not exist. It doesn’t add anything (but dollar signs, perhaps) and if you haven’t watched an episode of Kaleido Star, pass this up.

Watch this only if you watched the series or better immediately after episode 51. Or else you will not grasp a lot. This OVA focuses on Rosette and her relation with Fool and a mysterious painting. Unfortunately the viewer never gets to know how Fool turned into the Spirit of the Stage and whats Rosette's similarity with the princess in the painting. Instead we have the usual stuff as it occurs in the individual episodes of Kaleido Star, with the various funny gags, Rosette's self-doubt, other members trying to help her etc. But this time there's not that much amazing
animation during stage performances.
For the other characters theres hardly any time left.
Since I liked Rosette in the series I'll give the OVA more points. I'll watch the other OVA about Layla soon and hopefully it will be better.
this OVA is too short and should be in bundle with the series.

| Wie das “Extra“ im Titel vermuten lässt ist Aratanaru Tsubasa eine Zusatzepisode. Sie schließt direkt am Ende der letzten Folge der Serie an und nimmt Rosetta in den Fokus, die nun auch in der Lage ist Fool zu sehen und somit zum Star geboren ist. Inhaltlich geht es um eine Bühnenshow in der Rosetta die Hauptrolle spielen soll und natürlich sind die Vorbereitungen auf ihren ersten großen Auftritt von Schweiß und Tränen geprägt. Selbstzweifel und deren Überwindung sind also mal wieder das Thema, welches Kaleido Star schon von Anfang an geprägt hat. Auch wenn ich sagen muss das dessen Vermittlung an den Zuschauer mit Rosetta in dieser arg kurzen Zeit nicht ganz so gut geglückt ist wie bei so manch anderem Charakter in der TV-Serie so hat mir diese Episode doch gut gefallen, vor allem weil ich Rosetta ziemlich gern hab. Der Charme von Kaleido Star den ich so liebe ist auch hier gegeben und allein die ganze Charaktercrew wieder in Aktion zu sehen reicht schon um ein Lächeln auf meine Lippen zu zaubern. Sogar Fool bekommt eine kleine Rolle spendiert die mit seiner Vergangenheit zu tun hat, leider wird nicht besonders nahe darauf eingegangen (trotzdem ist Fool als Comic-Relief nach wie vor ein Brüller ^^). Ebenfalls schade fand ich dass man die Bühnenshow, auf die ja von Anfang an hingearbeitet wird und die ja mit der Mittelpunkt dieser Folge ist, am Ende gar nicht mehr zu sehen bekommt, besonders da deren Thematik sehr schön ist. Da hätte man ruhig noch ein paar Minuten drauf hauen können. Nichts desto Trotz ist “Aratanaru Tsubasa“ eine gute Addition zu einer großartigen Serie.
