| After watching this anime, it was obvious that Square was desperately milking from the same profiteering cow, just like they're doing to the Final Fantasy series now. Just because a title has 'Final Fantasy' backing it up doesn't mean it's going to be worth your time. Worse, FFCrystals is based off of FFV, possibly the most uninteresting FF I've played (or attempted to play).
I have to give credit to FFCrystals for a couple of things, namely having Yuko Minaguchi voice Lenaly, the purple-haired priestess whose rear area prompts some strange scenes during the OAV. Minaguchi is one of my favorite 'lesser' seiyuu who also did Sailor Saturn, my favorite senshi. The voice is exactly the same, which allows me to sit through this without going insane. The other credit is managing to conclude this OAV without any loose ends, like many OAVs tend to do.
Unfortunately, the bad outweigh the good. This includes animation that makes it look like sulphur is in the air all the time, uninteresting characters, a boring and VERY ugly villain, a predictable story, and everything else in between. They do make mention of FFV characters and settings, and even a minor character from the game makes an appearance, making this possibly the very first 'true' sequel to a Final Fantasy long before FFX-2 came out. Sadly, it's a horrible sequel.
Watch FFCrystals if you're a Final Fantasy fan who has to know and see everything Final Fantasy. Everyone else can stay away.

| One of the most uninteresting cartoons I've ever seen:
Animation is like that style of old DB, however DB had the charm of a quite interesting story while Goku as a child learned the basics of martial arts etc. In this anime, there's neither a charm character nor a captivating story. The villans are one of the silliest things you've ever seen while they chase after the crystal in weird flying things.. it just... isn't interesting...
I haven't seen an anime that lost my attention as quick as this one, ever.

| I can see where the direction was going when I saw the ending of it. It seems that it took place right after Final Fantasy V, which was probably not really the greatest storyline to begin with. The character were nowhere near interesting, the music and animation were like a daily cartoon show, and I can’t see myself watching this again. I usually do have an interest with Final Fantasy, but this can‘t be acceptable for a respectable game. I don’t think should’ve given it a children oriented feeling to it. Maybe it would be good view for kids. Other than that, it’s definitely not for any anime fan, or even a die-hard Final Fantasy fan on any degree.

| For a Final Fantasy title, a series that has always been innovative if anything, one would think that a trace of originality would be present here. Unfortunately, the viewer is proven otherwise upon being thrust through a variety of generic adventures and boring predicaments with an uninteresting cast of characters flanking him. Appallingly and obnoxiously shonen main character, subdued magical heroine, and sought-after artifact of unfathomable power are all here for the scrutinizing, and it's really nothing special at all. Granted, the Square of the past really tried to breathe life into its floundering media division with this sequel to Final Fantasy V, but all this OVA did was mar the studio's generally good image. Not that it's actively awful, per se, but just a hell of a letdown and so much more average than it should have been.
Man, and to think people harped about Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within...

| Before you even start watching this show, try and forget that it's got "Final Fantasy" in the title, or you're in for a long ride.
With that aside, the mini-series didn't really at any point capture my emotions. I wanted so much to care about what was going to happen, but, not a single character or their backgrounds (what little was explained) really impacted at all.
The plot twists weren't predictable, but when they happened, you still aren't surprised, or even shocked. Again, that probably goes with that "You don't really give a crap" problem.
It doesn't look or sound bad by any means, but the story is predictable, the characters are weak, and it seems more to me like an excuse to once again exploit the Final Fantasy name with just another run-of-the-mill "fantasy-futuristic" story.
Avoid this one unless you have some free time you don't mind spending.

| This show was all fan service (even though there is no nudity, they do have some pretty wierd stuff that crosses the border) and just made for those die hard ff fans. Even after reading the bad reviews I still had to see it for myself, being the ff lover that I am. I grew up with ff, I even though ff unlimited wasnt too bad. But this was not that great, one of the guys sounds like Kuwabara from Yu Yu Hakusho, it probably is the same voice actor. Also the main characters had no personalities. Ugh, oh well, guess it is better to have watched this because I love ff so much. If there is anything that is good about this show it is the sound, even though the quality isnt that great, you will recognize the music from ff games, I love ff music so i had to give this at least an 8

| Final fantasy legend of the crystals is a final fantasy but not the final fantasy of squaresoft caliber that most of us fans are used to. It wouldn't hurt to check this series out. The guy has a big sword..I like this sword...lol, overall, ok....typical rpg plot....but...really...nothing grand and spectacular....
The animation might have been alright...but my encodes of it sucked horribly. I have no problem with real media if it’s encoded right...but lately for me, it seems as if .avi has been the way to go. This tried to I guess capture that final fantasy....essence but it...kinda failed, good for a rainy day with nothing else, but nothing more and don’t expect too much either. I agree with others...squaresoft should continue with their rpgs....these other media doesn't cut it..and will even ruin their good name :)

| A sequel to Final Fantasy V? This is the first time I ever heard a anime show that's a sequel to a video game. But the story isn't that difficult to follow, and you don't even have to play the game to understand it better.
The problem is that it's the old cliche story line...Evil going to destroy the world, a few "destine" people start off exploring a cave or help out a sick friend, etc. Then it evoles into them saving the world. It's an old concept, but I guess people kind of like it. It's enjoyable, you'll probably like the supporting cast then the main characters, 'cause the supporting cast has more development then the main characters ~.~
