| Idea of this "plot" was very good and it had a lot of opportunityes to became good anime, but somehow hole thing crashed and ended one of the most boring series what I have seen.
Main character are again super wussy guy, and his most used words is "ugh, huh, puh, hmh" etc. It almost drive me insane.
"Drawing" style, I hated it, because all characters looked so childish compared their age.
It was fun some time to time, but it didn't save it. I recommend it 8-15 years old viewers, but over that... it becomes dull I think.

You've heard of past harems such as Love Hina and Ai Yori Aoshi, but here comes one that's just super-sized. With six pairs of twins (five of them actually liking the guy), why not just stick all ten of these girls on a desolate island with random weapons and see which one survives?
Animation-wise and sound-wise, there isn't much to say, and the story is pretty linear, but the anime itself doesn't try to go for drama or suspense; it just tries to make you feel good. I've been a sucker for these kinds of animes, and I still am. I thoroughly enjoyed Futakoi because of the playful attitude that it offers.
Really though, five pairs of twins going for the same guy and even if the guy did choose one pair, he'd have to choose one of the two. Man, doesn't that just suck?
Unforunately, most of the characters seriously lack depth. After all, there's a whole army of people and only thirteen episodes - you can't expect Grand Canyon depth for any of the characters.
"Quantity over quality" might just be this anime's motto, and I'm fine with that.

| For those who have not seen any harem anime, then this will be very very good. But to me its not really good, but not bad either. Since the genre is saturated with anime's he obvious reason is to make something new about it which is to place twin love=futakoi in it. This concept does work.

| If you are looking for an anime just to pass the time, then this is a place you can start. However, if you want something memorable that you can actually talk to your friends about, then this is not the right choice for you. I'd recommend you pick up something like Shuffle! if you like this kind of stuff. It actually has a real ending!
Futakoi is your typical Harem anime with a twist, but nothing special. It is not all that funny either, so don't expect a load of laughs.
MY REVIEW MIGHT BE A LITTLE TOO THOROUGH, so don't read the rest if you want to see it all for yourself!

| Futakoi is a mostly typical harem- promise anime which ends up fairly entertaining. There was little that felt original or exciting about this series aside from several key choices which do help differentiate the anime from the genre somewhat.
Towards the beginning I thought it was more of a mystical anime, which would have made this a much better series.
Don't expect much, but I enjoyed Futakoi and you most likely will as well if you like light romance comedies like Kanon.

| Well, this series is good enough so that not only people who enjoy the ren'ai kind of anime series will really like it. Althought, the fact that there are so many twins, and also, female, in one single place it's very unbelievable, they try to make it somewhat credible by adding a folk story in the town about twins. Still, this does not manage to really explain why there are so many twins in town, neither why is it that they are all female, a thing that makes this series somewhat dumb from some point of views.
But the unrealistic stuff doesn't end up there. It's okay that there are lots of twins, once you get used to the idea, but to think that besides the Hinagiku twins(who are children), every other twin will also wear the same clothing at all times it's pretty laughable.
Still, the character development is very good. Having the twin teams being different not only from twin team to twin team, but between them. Besides the Hinagiku and the Sakurazuki Twins, every other members of each set is different in their own way. The Shirogane twins being the best example of this, as they are the most different set of girls in the whole series.
From my point of view, the most original thing in the plot is the weird double love triangle that is displayed: the first one between two set of twins while the other one between the girls that form one of those twin teams. The emphasis given to the suffering of the main character because of being loved by so many is something that also should be noticed.
All in all, this series is really enjoyable and fun, besides the not-so-realistic-if-realistic-at-all plot and the only real problem it might have is that people who dislike romantic comedy in a "ren'ai game" style (To Heart, ONE, Air, Kanon, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien) will definitively not like this series.

| Who knew so many twins existed in one place? For me, this was a bit original since I've never seen an anime with so many cute twin girls. I thought those girls were cute in their own way. Futakoi is a romance based anime with a touch of drama at the end. However, I think things could have been better, but they fixed things up with Futakoi Alternative. Still, I thought this was a borderline-decent anime.

| This anime is a ditch attempt at something new in the overloaded romance genre by using Twins instead of individuals. Unlike its 2005 counterpart futakoi alternative, this anime barely pass as a mediocre anime that isn't worth a second viewing, but enough to watch it once to waste some time.
Any anime made after 2004 should have a good animation. It's only obvious the makers didn't have enough money or lacked inspiration to make this anime look good. Colors are bright and fun but all the setting design is lame and dull. Character designs were also very painfully generic. Plus they had work cut out for them because... well... they are twins.
Just like its animation counterpart, music is far from stellar. Music barely pass as suitable for this anime. though that's enough for watching movie i wouldn't be looking for OST or recognize any music from this anime. One word would describe music in this anime perfectly and that word is forgettable,
Story is your typical triangle love relationship senario. I won't go any deeper to not spoil anything but from the beginning things are painfully obvious. You will know exactly where this story is going. Story to large extent is cheesy from the beginning. However around the end of this anime they try to throw around some angst and conflict to keep thing interesting and fresh. However they quickly settle back to its cheesy roots and don't provide any solid conclusion. Nozomu is a cliched character and his relationship revolve around cliched relationship. what a disappointment.
But to kill time this ain't that bad. Second half was interesting enough to keep me watching and i don't regret watching it through. Just don't expect some high quality romance and love relationship like Kare Kano. Just expect cheesy anime like KGNE and you won't be disappointed (yes. i think KGNE is overrated).

| This anime started out on a rather cheerful note. It's a show with many cute girls and one nice guy who gets all the affection. Though the characters are pretty hard to differentiate because most of them are twins, I think that the story was only average. Nozomu who's the main character is faced with a dilemma around the middle of the show. Where he has to decide whose feelings he wants to reciprocate. That was when the show went from sleepy to wide awake. Cos it just keeps you guessing what's going to happen next. Overall, some parts are rather comical and silly at times. However, the ending was one that left me wishing it didn't turn out like that. Yes, it was a happy one, but it still left me with a pretty empty feeling. Cos Nozomu still couldn't decide who he wanted! After so much dialogue on it, it simply failed to deliver what was expected...A conclusive ending. The OP and ED of the show was only average. I don't think this anime has a high rewatch value, do it only if you're really bored.

| Futakoi is a very good show in the harem/romance genre. Nozomu is a nice boy who has just moved back to his hometown after being away for several years. He is looking forward to reuniting with his twin neighbors who he hasn't seen since they were all in kindergarten together. In all, there are six sets of twins in the show, two of which (four girls) are obviously very infatuated with Nozomu. I don't typically love this type of series, but I found myself very much enjoying Futakoi, despite my best intentions. A word of warning, though. Nothing is resolved in the end, and you are definitely left wanting more. I guess that's better than the alternative though...

| Overall i really enjoyed this anime for its cuteness and the fact that i am a big fan of the harem/romance genre. A reason for the mediocore score i gave it is that the characters were not too much to my liking. The main character Nozomu is the wussiest main character Ive ever come accross in an anime in my opinion, eh, from his personality, to his stature, to even his wussy voice lol. There were a few traits of Nozomu that I liked, that he was a nice guy and was kinda goofy in a fun way at times, but other than that, him being the main characters drags down the anime a alot for me. Most of the twins have alright personalities, Kira and Yura are suppose to be really cute, but instead they overemphasize their cuteness and sometimes it seems like they are retarted (seriously, with all this common sense "fathers tests", lol youll know once you watch it). The romance was enjoyable, thats what made give this anime high points, it is an anime i would probably watch again in the future. The background music for the anime was pretty well suited, but the OP and ED themes were really boring and corny. The biggest dissappointment of this anime was the animation. I could probably count the frames lol (kinda overexaggerating), this is a 2004 anime, usually newer animes have topnotch animation, this one didnt, but this was also an ova which had only like 13 episodes (i think thats how many..) and the animation was still poor quality compared to other anime OVAs, it just doesnt meet the standard, but it is passible enough for me to enjoy it and tell what people are doign when they move. The story itself is a little confusing, but its cool cause it isnt really predictable. I always like the "one guy surrounded by girls that usually like him" story, and this anime pulls that off pretty nicely. Its not the best anime, but if youre a fan of this type of anime, its kinda like a mustwatch, if you dont enjoy the corny cutesy stuff and your idea of bad animation is an episode of gundam wing, i think you should pass.... ehh but i want everyone to watch it anyway cuz i liked it and hopefully youll like it too.

| This kind of anime comes along about every two seasons, its a romance/comedy/drama that just really makes you feel good.
The animation isn't that great and really could be better but the character designs are nice.
I liked all the music thoughout the series and the op/ed were very good as well.
The story is where this anime shines, it takes the typical guy around a ton of girls and basicly adds the twins aspect to all of it creating just a lot more trouble for the main protag. But its a nice loving story that I think anyone really can enjoy, its got something that really got my attention as I was watching it, it starts out nice and ends nice as well.
The characters are surpisingly well done, although I thought that some of the twins could have been developed better (Kira/Yuya and Ui/Koi) all of the twins besides those play an intresting part and I really liked how they developed the two main childhood friends of the protag making them not just a pair of twins but indivduals as well. Lulu and Lala are very cute as well.
This is an easy anime to enjoy, its really an anime thats just good to watch if you want to be in a good mood, great news is that Fukakoi Alternative has started so you can lookforward to watching that (although it will be diffrent) if you didn't think the 13 eps in this series were enough!

| Futakoi is fluffy and somewhat two-dimensional, but it's also often heartwarming and fun. The story and characters certainly don't break any new ground as far as originality is concerned. In fact, this aspect of things is about as cliched as possible.
Futakoi at its best is complex and emotionally real, but far often it is rather tepid and shallow. This, for me, was dissapointing, because I saw that with a little more complexity in the characters' emotions and more emotionally-realistic situations, this could have been a truly great anime. Instead, the story avoids any tragic circumstances and sticks solidly to unrealistic happiness. But that doesn't mean its not fun while it lasts.

| There's SO MUCH FUN in this series. Imagine 6 twins set, 2 are in the same age range in love with the same guy, 2 are underage and thinking of him as oniisan, other 2 is older than the guy but also kinda fond of him. What he gonna do?!! Is he gonna pick anyone at all?!! You need to found out yourself in this SUPER FUN CHEESY ROMANCE SERIES.

| Such a delightful story. At first I thought it was another guy who returns and sees these cute girls that really like him, but he doesnt remember them. I am so sick and tired of those anime. But, it wasnt just that, it had a legend behind the town he returned home to. It was an interesting tale that dealt with the mysterious nature of the town having so many twins. It was an enjoyable series to watch and kick back to. It was a cute, and silly story that I liked. I didnt like the lead male's voice. It was really weird for me and I wasnt feeling it through him. Of course everyone of the voice actors/actresses were talented. The music was delightful, yet simple. If you like cute anime with a feel good touch to it, check this out.

| This anime was excellent but i had alot of problems with it. The theme of twins didn't really have to be there. Each set of twins could have been replaced by one person and the story would still have made sense to a certain degree. The story had a lot going for it then suddenly the anime ended and it begs for a sequel, which it deserves. Other than that this is a pretty standard love story and very nicely drawn. Oh, and another thing, I hated the music, just could not stand it. Overall very good!

| This overall was a pretty decent anime. The japenese voice actors did an excellent job. The reason why i gave the story a 7 is b/c of the last episode. It was in my mind really badly done. It almost seemed like the director "quit"( Note this is the highest rated anime he has produced).

| A nice surprise. Futakoi really seems to be not popular, but it really got over my expectations.
A lovely mix between a superb animation (it's not kawaii-style but it's incredibly well done, both character designs, backgrounds and animations) and a simple but intriguing daily life routine.
Speaking of which, the plot is the factor with most flaws. Here you'll find a lot of twins (6 couples, not a spoiler, you'll find out just from Opening Theme), but beside this, there's not much of a story. This doesn't mean that the show is somehow boring or sort of, it still has an amazing and entertaining pace throughout the whole series, but do not expect great events, they won't come.
Last thing about story, that disappointed me, and it's at the ending. The main-char is surrounded by wonderful girls, and maybe it was hopely he made up his mind a bit more. If you watched the series carefully the ending is predictable, but kinda tastes of nothing.
I won't add for not spoil anything.. just watch and judge by yourselves.
BUT.. that probably was a good way to be a prequel to a Futakoi 2.
In facts the ending was really opened to eventually incoming events.
Who knows, there should be a sequel; aside "Futakoi Alternative" , who'll be aired in april and won't have much in common with this.
Characters: 6 couple of twins are introduced, but yet just 2 of them are analyzed deeply, Ichijou and Sakurazuki. The other ones do acts in the shadows.
Anyway, it can't be helped: Kaoruko, Sumireko, Yura and Kira are so lovely that they deserve a 10. Personal taste: having to choose, i'm for the Ichijou's.
OP and ED are quite nice (especially the ED) but I suppose they aren't suited for anime-themes' history.
What I really liked was the dubbing, the cuteness of all twins is perfectly given by the female actors. One of my preferred seiyuu, Horie Yui, is in the cast of the show as Kaoruko, nice touch ^^
Said this, I had great enjoyment from this anime, although it didn't last much (just 13 episodes), I really had a nice time while watching it.

| I've just finished watching the whole series and I'm kind of disapointed at how it kind of left you wondering some questions but it was really jolly at the end...If they would of progrossed of the relationships nozomu had with the Ichiro twins...I loved the opening and the ending themes and it was pretty funny how most of the twins had someone that watched them and was kind of watching nozomu like the goat or the fan club lol...Overall it was a good light hearted romance drama I would reccommened it to those who like drama or romance

| This is a pretty enjoyable series. It's the typical school kids love drama but with a twist; Twins!
The anime has a few love triangle plots and seems executed fairly well. The only problem I had was the abundant amount of twins. They seemed to pop out of every corner! It seemed to stray away from the story when it introduced two pair of twins that had almost no involvement in the fulfillment of the story.
Character development was good for the main characters. It actually brought you up to date on who is what and whey and why.
The ending could have been better. It didn't seem to close the series off but left it hanging. Had they done a proper ending, it would have been alot more sad but I believe it would have been much more enjoyable and would stick to my mind.
The animation is good and the girls are drawn very cute! There's plenty of humor that is mixed into the story and is very fitting. The ending music is pretty good, better than the OP theme and the music seemed fitting.
