G Gundam is unique among the Gundam series, but not in a good way. It lacks a lot o the political and philosophical questions in the mainstream Gundams and seeks instead to delight through a lot of battles. Personally, I found this show a lot shallower than what I expected and didn't like it all that much by the end.

I must say this was something different from the usual Gundam show. It’s very unusual in many ways. The first thing that I noticed was that the Gundams had a new way of being operated. And this was only one of the new and original stuff in G Gundam. For example, there isn’t a war going on in this series. Instead, there are so called “Gundam fights” located on the earth, to avoid wars braking out. Every Gundam represents their home country. Overall, the setting seemed very interesting, when watching the first few episodes.

However, after watching 7 episodes or so, I almost gave up on this show. Stuff like the names of the Gundams for instance, was really stupid. The names represent what their nations are most famous of, and they have a special weapon or technique based on this. I accepted this after a while, but still there were lots of other things that happened which seemed highly unlikely and not very believable. Another thing is that the plot is pretty boring, since it’s always about fighting a Gundam opponent. The setting doesn’t change very much from one episode to another.

The animation was slightly better than in Victory Gundam, but still not very impressive. Also the opening/ending soundtracks are okay. The few soundtracks in the show are also good, but the same songs are being played over pretty often. Neither the characters are too good. Some of them seem really stupid and uninteresting, only some few of them are fine.

So overall, what should I say? One thing that I can ensure is that this is not a series I would recommend to the most serious Gundam fans. I tried real hard to like it more, but it I just couldn’t swallow this plot. However, if you like watching mecha- and Gundam-fights, and also don’t care too much about details, this is maybe something for you.

This gundam is good, but it's also really stupid. One of the things I liked about the other gundams, is they're at least trying to represent humanity at war, and deal with political issues, etc. This is just a fight fest, it's simple and to the point, I would think I would hate it because it's so corny, but it's cool. The characters are actually sort of interesting, which shocked me, because I thought they were stupid at first.

Muahahahahahaaaaaaaa

This is truely a fun series to watch. Even the gundam thing starting to bored but all the stupid corus or stupid moved will amuse you. Like this "SHINING FINGER" come on! give me a break.. can't you come up wih a better name than that?! Althou the moves/name were lame, everyone seem to like it, even I, yes ME screaming out at night "SHINING FINGER!" while i'm dreaming rescue the cute girl from devil gundam lol....

Nontheless, G Gundam is a fun mecha anime. Maybe it a little boring at first with the lame story on to defect teh devil gundam. But it get better later on where more gundams joined and fight together to defeat devil gundam. As for the romance part, we hardly see any relation between Domon and Rain in the first half, but as Allbely joined we'll see one of thouse old-school jeolously :) Oh.. and the story? err.. It's pretty focus on defeat EVIL GUNDAM but it also got a good myster misunderstanding inciddent behind it.

It's fun fun anime, don't think of any cool moves or complex story in it. Think of as... sport anime o.O

G Gundam. Ready Set Go! lol. I've watched the English verison on Cartoon Network. And this is pretty a Street Fighter Gundam. The animation wasn't that great but you can tell where Gundam Wing got it's ideas though. The only character I liked was the main character Domon Kasshu (msp?) His English voice was perfect pissed off all the time. That's pretty much what the main character is. he's full of pride but is usually pissed off a lot. He uses a lot of his anger to win. Of course that catches up to him. The other characters were kind of lame and had some lame Gundams. But when they start fighting at the end, they get pretty awesome fights. There's always a fight in every single episode. The story here wasn't too bad. Focusing on Domon to find out about things. They go a good deal into his past. It repeats a lot of it. But at the end you actually finally see what really happened. And you're like WHOA! The music to the show was good, it made the show intense when the battle was going to get hard or whatever. Then Domon doing his special moves. you'll enjoy it over and over again. My whole highschool back when I was in it was watching this. It was hard to believe that there was another show that wasn't as good as Gundam Wing in America. But able to get a strong crowd and being shown 3 more times on Cartoon Network. With Gundam Wing shown the same amount too. It's quite a Gundam to watch. Hardly any political. Pure Street Fighter Gundam type fighing.

G Gundam is an alternative universe (AU) Gundam program, therefore it doesn't take place in the Universal Century timeline. In fact, it was the first AU Gundam. It helped breath some new life into the Gundam franchise in the 90s.

The concept is simple. Very simple. Absurdly simple and simply absurd, you might say. Fans have dubbed this (or at least I have) "the Street Fighter of Gundam" because of the multinational fighting competition aspect. Impossibly powerful super robots from around the world (really from around the Earth sphere, since they were constructed in colonies bearing the names of the countries that owned them) doing battle with special techniques and stereotypes everywhere. How, you ask, can this series really be worth watching, with such a strange and laughable concept?

It just is, my friends.

I think the series really shines in the area of characters and their interactions with each other. Among my favorite characters are Allenby Beardsley, Prime Minister Wong, and Master Asia. And unlike most Gundam romances, the relationship between Domon and Rain actually matures and grows in a way that is a lot more natural than say, Kou Uraki and Nina Purpleton's in Gundam 0083.

The art and animation are pretty good. The show was produced in 1994 and it looks like it. Though the music seems melodramatic and straining at times, I rather enjoy it, especially some of the more prevailent pieces. The "Shining Finger" music is catchy.

Speaking of melodramatic, though, this series can get a bit bogged down by excessive melodrama for a show that's somewhat lighter Gundam fare. But it can be overlooked, as the whole series is pretty cheesy overall, and worth enjoying on that level.

G Gundam can be summed up in one phrase : Gundam of Gundams! The feel of a gundam that isn't focused around a war for once is great. Of all gundams this one stands out a lot and it is underrated. Behind the crazy designs and weird attacks, there is a great plot built around solid characters.

I only watched the Cartoon Network version and let me tell you the voices aren't bad. All the character's voices fit their characteristics. On the otherhand, you have really terrible music. The a animation is the best part of G Gundam (well duh, it is Gundam after all). The character are not as developed as Gundam Seed's but still have their own story. Read more of my review if you are curious.

In the past, G-Gundam was one of my favorite series to watch on the Cartoon Network. It had all the action packed excitement necessary to entice the attention of a child but after exposure to many better mech titles, I can see the flaws of this series. For one, I had the story rated in the 9-10 column but I can now see the repetitiveness that is common in various "mainstream" animes. With every episode, there was bound to be a fight with another gundam with and specific trait/ability. I use to think, "wow this is pretty cool and exiciting" but now the show just seems so simple and basic that the process of creating another gundam becomes simplified into a formula for success among the adolescence. Basically, the only change amongst different gundam is the look and one specific power. As far as the characters, their were plenty but they were very stereotypical and I wasn't able to communicate or feel what the gundam pilots were feeling meaning there was no deeper connection between the anime and myself. It was a great anime in the past, well for a child or non avid anime fan, but I must say that upon reflection, it is just a mediocre anime.

A mix of Gundam goodness and a desire to do something totally different, this show does it all very well. There are obvious parody elements that lead to a lot of cheese but that's what parodies are for (and unfortunately some people just don't understand this show due to a lack of exposure to the genre of anime that this tries to parody). The core of this however is the dramatic story and good characters, and no matter how silly some of the mobile fighters can be and how cheesy some of the action is, the story and characters are what really matters.

I write this review after a blitz of about 15 episodes straight to finish up the series. This is the first Gundam series I've ever seen, and I am IMPRESSED. I loved it, although it took a little while to get into. The series flew by once I got into it, though. I loved the music and voices(japanese, of course). Maybe this is just because I've never seen another Gundam show, but I loved the story, too. The characters were great, only a few really streotypical characters were present. I really enjoyed this, and the rating should show that. The only complaint is animation, but the show's 10 years old as of this year, so who's surprised that it looks old? In short, I don't understand all the whining complaints of all the other reviews. Feel free to ignore all the whining, pick up the DVDs and enjoy. Just make sure to watch it subbed. The english voices are bad, as usual. And if you find yourself crying after the final Master Gundam/God Gundam fight, don't feel bad. My cheeks are still drying.

It makes no sense. With that said, this is a great Gundam anime. Deviating from all previous Gundam plots, this one is one of my favorite Gundam series. It's just so screwed up, me and my friends have taken to call it "F***ed up Gundam!" I have found myself comparing this anime constantly to Dragon Ball Z, which is not necessarily a bad thing, considering that this anime is really the comic relief of the series (actually SD Gundam is, but that's another story).

It is different then most of the Gundam series but that doesn't mean that its a bad thing. This is my favorite Gundam title even though it doesnt have the best story. But it has some very cool fight scences that I enjoy a lot. Also I like the characters and they fact that they come from around the world bringing something new to the table. This is a nice anime but since it takes a different approach then most Gundam series it might not be the anime series for some Gundam fans.

This particular Gundam series combines all the style and charm of a 1970's kung-fu flick with giant robots fighting, and oh are the results glorious. Don't come in expecting the seriousness of the original Mobile Suit Gundam or its many sequels or you'll be sorely disappointed. If you watch it expecting an incredibly fun and insane show, you'll love every minute.

This is one of the few Gundam series that doesn't require you to have seen the original (Mobile Suit Gundam) before watching this one. This is good for a new-comer but the series itself doesn't really tie in well with the other 20,000 Gundam series out there. For one, it has absolutely nothing to do with the 'One Year War' and the Gundam designs themselves aren't nearly similar to the ones from Mobile Suit. But if you're up for something new and unique this is a really good series. Each country now has its own Gundam that represents that civilization in the world wide 'Gundam Fight.' This is a pretty cool concept especially because it allows you to see just how Japan views the rest of the world (some of the Gundams are hillariously stereo-typical). The plot itself is intriguing and there's plenty of action but the storyline has this horrible tendency to shift randomly. Hell, the main villan changes about 7 times throughout the entire series on a single story base. Regardless of that, the series is still really good but the ending sucked. I don't want to ruin it so i'll just leave its horribleness for you to discover. Sound? Well as far as music goes, you can't expect too much from an older series but all in all it was enjoyable if that's what you mean. Character development went smoothly not too many mentionable flaws in it. Animation itself is normal for about when it was created. In the end, G Gundam is a great series for any mech fan and a must for a true Gundam fan.

A really good series. Even though it is different from other Gundam series' it proves that it gives the same amount of enjoyment out as the rest of them. However, if you're used to only dark and war stories, you might not like this as much. However, I really enjoyed it and I advise everyone to watch it.

On another note, don't take this series to seriously, it is a bit of fun and nice to laugh about, I mean, look at some of the Gundam designs :)

I do consider myself a UC Gundam fan and I didn't mind Wing, but this has to be one of the worst Gundam's I've seen this side of ZZ.

The animation is ok, a little crude at times, but the plot is just lacking in my opinion. The Gundam designs are a joke, like tequilla gundam and the windmill ones.

I will say that it is a more original gundam, and not a derivative like Wing was. Think of Dragonball Z meets Gundam and that about sums this up. Too bad I can't stand Dragonball Z.

I enjoyed this more than Gundam Wing!
It's really nice and gets even more interesting after the 1st 1/2 of the series.
There's plenty of gundam vs gundam action!
Every episode leaves you wanting to see more, IMO.
The thing that kinda bothered me was that the mechs get repaired way too fast and easily (not talking bout those infected w/ DG cells). The sacrifice made would've had more value if the gundams were seroiusly damaged and could not be used for a certain time.
