| Review based on the first 9 episodes. I just couldn't stomach any more.
Sometimes, in any field of visual media, certain conventions become so overused or unoriginal that even the indiscriminating fan will be repelled by its sheer mindlessness. It recycles, rehashes, and overall makes no effort whatsoever to exceed the mold that others have made for it. Humans may devour the formulaic, but once you accept the fact that your creation is tailor-made to do nothing different, then there's little to be seen or enjoyed.
Izumo: Takeki Ken no Senki falls into this trap immediately and never recovers. This anime exemplifies the old proverb "too little, too late". There is quite literally nothing to set this 12-episode nightmare apart from any other action anime we've ever seen. The plot lacks any sort of verve or energy, the setting is bland, the animation sucks, and our motley crew of characters is the most appallingly generic bunch to ever happen onto the screen.
As you may expect, Izumo is based on a hentai game. Here's where we sigh because most hentai game conversions are lousy and we probably saw this coming. Our main character, whose name I think is Takeru, takes special care to not have a personality so that all of the hormonal males in the audience can imprint themselves upon him. His life ain't too bad -- he has two girls living in his household, and guess what! They're his "not-sisters", a term I just made up for that typical hentai situation where girls who claim to be the protagonist's sisters aren't really related by blood to him. Onee-chan complexes aplenty! Another annoying girl quickly joins him and we learn that they all have the exact same personalities, except the one with blue hair is a little more subdued than the other two. But still annoying. The main character is also friends with the stoic-girl class president who keeps a raven, and naturally these five plus Takeru's kendo rival somehow warp through dimensions and find themselves in a crazy feudal world. Demons subsequently accost them. More boring things happen, another annoying girl joins the party, four annoying god women flirt over Takeru a little bit and bla bla bla.
That's basically all the anime has to offer you. Annoying harem kicks and some awful-looking sword fighting. There was one element that actually interested me, surprisingly. See, the main 'villain' is a two-foot tall lavender-maned thing by the name of Himiko, who wants to restore the world to peace by combining her world and the one Takeru came from. As our hero's friends see it, this is BAD and must be stopped, but Himiko seems so genuinely gentle and pacifistic that the line between good and evil is subsequently blurred. This was done well until the anime subsequently threw it out the window with a plot twist so stupid that I've already forgotten it.
I could write paragraphs about how lame Izumo is, but it would just be a waste of time. Take every cliche you've ever seen in anime, throw it in a blender, add liberal servings of crap, and then pour yourself a tall frosty glass of one of the worst shows you'll ever have the displeasure of seeing. Boring comedy, boring action, boring romance and boring harem trash all set this apart, not in the way an anime should stand out, but by sheer virtue of utter badness. Don't waste your time, please.

| Its rather hard to judge this anime. I did enjoy it, and I think most will be able to sit thru it. It is like Himiko-den. Both from a game, hada great story, poor execution.
Takeru has 9 girls taking care of him. 4 from Ashihara, 5 from Nenoko. And you know that this is from a H-game anyway.

| Izumo have good story but sadly there's no originality in it at all. You feel like you watching somekind of summary of every other anime. Not just that they got no originality, their plots got a lot of holes and bumps along the way. They skip some good part especially the end.
You can predicts this anime for about half of the show. The characters are really really chessy. 2 main harem leader are banging every girls on the show. Takaru got 5 girls that care for him, then he got 4 god-girls in another world. Wow, I couldn't say he cheating since some of them are not on the same zipcode. The romance part is somewhat decent thou. It might not be good to prejudge any romance part but fire the guess bean aways at the lame story.
In the end, Izumo is just another no good hentai-base anime. They have too many flaws in their storyboard and the fighting part couldn't pull it off. LACK OF NEW IDEAS is what made Izumo fail to be a good anime.
