| DCSS revisits the story of Juunichi several years after the cherry trees died. The series direction wastes away so much (Kotori!) wondrous promise (Kotori!) from its start (Kotori!).

| D.C.S.S. is a fairly interesting sequel which introduces many new characters and features a roller coaster of a plot sequence. It tells a story of what happens two years after D.C when a young magician named Aisia goes to the island in search of Jun'ichi's grandmother. Watch only after the first series or you'll probably be utterly lost.

| Watched this immediately after I finished Da Capo First Season. I found that the first episode of DCSS was great (had signs of romance developing between Kotori and Junnichi). Also, the whole atmosphere was really romantic and dreamy. But sadly the second season either had a lot of forced drama or pointless silly filler "humor" (with all the new characters on top of the old ones from the previous season). Furthermore, it was kind of obvious how things would end up despite how they kept throwing in all this drama and giving false hopes to the other girls having a chance with Junnichi.
One thing about Junnichi is that he became one of those typical angsty emotional high school students - I guess puberty set in. Instead of being the patient nice guy in DC 1, he's now unstable, drama-causing and quick to misjudge.. Now... DCSS has turned into this sort of anime full of 'misunderstandings', 'accidental slip-up fall on girl things', half-naked walkins, and bad drama. Not to mention, there's a lot more fan-service - which I guess isn't bad but it kind of tells you what kind of direction this anime takes (cough.. formulaic and typical)
What I was hoping for in DCSS was some sort of huge (well... any) development in love romance. Instead, the story is almost like a re-hash of everything from Da Capo 1. We begin with a series of 'fun' in the first half. From the trouble Aisia makes to physical examinations (all that usual stuff). Then things start getting a little serious - but never fully serious. Then we get more filler episodes, then more drama, and then we're left with a happy note. None of the new characters have any spunk, but at least Kotori had a larger role in this series to make up for it.
Overall, this is a mediocre anime that wouldn't be any good without watching the first season. It also doesn't really have much originality to it. Although the original Da Capo wasn't spectacular, but at least it went somewhere and had a magical and dreamy feel to it. The fact how the relationship between Nemu and Junnichi basically almost starts from scratch (all their original lovey doveyness disappeared) makes it kind of annoying and a waste of time. (Well, I guess this follows the definition of Da Capo) Also, I didn't appreciate the forced drama they threw in. Not for those except the most hardcore Da Capo lovers. Just a typical angst high-school romance with the old characters and a familiar setting.

| Oh dear! I for one LIKED Da Capo first season and was highly anticipating this sequel, but what happened? A disaster struck and all is bad in this show!
First off, i have to get this off my chest, Aisia. She is the 'WORST' main/side character that i've seen of recent times, her presence is annoying, her usefulness is there abeit not a really enjoyable character to be with. Her voice, her character design, her personality, pretty much everything abotu her reeks of rubbish and in some respects, this show could do a whole better without her.
Ok, now thats gone, lets look at the fownfalls about this show, the story is top offender, with a stupid, intricate, nonsense, semi-enjoyable plot, you just know that things are going terrible for this show. Aisia's persistent mindset and her 26 episodes of 'Im trying to make the world a happy place' etc makes this show hard to stand. Of course, there are one episode fillers detailing the other minor/side characters, they pale in comparison with the main dish between Junichi and Nemu/Kotori.
Maybe its the fact that the firts season concentrated more on the romance aspect between Nemu and Junichi that i appreciated that season more. Couple with the fact that Nemu didn't appear until later, maybe there's a slight bit of misfitness with Kotori there, though im not bashing her presense at all, im all for her but their romance wasn't solid enoguh for me.
In the end, DCSS is a disaster because of numerous problems, mainly Aisia, too many minor characters with too many fillers, this shwo has a sense of reptition in it which makes it bad. However, DCSS does neatly finish off the whole series and unlike many love/comeies, actually comes up with the final conclusion to any romance show. Nemu and other minor characters are distracting becauser they are nicely designed and the presence of older characters are much more enjoyed if you're a fan of the first show.
Overall: 5.5./10

| A pretty good anime overall. I think it this a was one slow show. It takes a while for things to happen.
I felt that for such skinny girls their heads were too big sometimes but oh well. So the animation was good but that I did not like.
The sound was good and solid. Backupped by a good voice cast.
The story was very slow. Once the story did take off near the end I didn't think it was that great of a build to the climax.
They added new characters to this show. The new characters were somewhat predictable(personality wise) but they all had a special talents like drawing, acrobatics, archery and so on. I don't know if that's a plus or not.
Overall this show is pretty good but I'm gonna have to say I enjoyed the first season better than this one. The first season was alittle more dramatic and funnier when the comedy was needed.

| Hmm... How do I put it.. 1 year since I finished the original Da Capo, and I decided to give its sequal a try.
End result, it reminded me how I HATED the non-commital part of the original DC.

| And so two years have indeed passed since the first season. The ever-so sequel of the romance-comedy series has returned with better animation and slightly improved sound. It's a rather nostalgic feeling when you hear that voice waking up Jun'ichi for the first time since the last season...
But.
Having Nemu missing in the first episode, audiences sit tight and glue their faces to the screen while both Kotori and Jun'ichi's heart start rushing in that first episode...
If you did glue your face to the screen and hoped for move of the two developing relationships, that's where you probably have made that mistake...

| Question #27: Da Capo Second Season is to Da Capo as Gundam SEED is to what?
Answer: GSD.
Sure, the new animation isn't bad, although it may take some getting used to by the fans of the original series, everything else is abyssmal compared to the first.
The original Da Capo's animation was one of its strong points, and the sequel does not disappoint. With lushly coloured and beautifully rendered animations, one might wonder whether this series might crown the first and do justice to the franchise. It doesn't.
One thing that is clearly evident in DCSS is the lack of music throughout the show. Sure, the OP and ED are great, but the music during the episode themselves are practically non-existent. Gone are the original Da Capo's orchestrated music, instead DCSS features more awkward silence than music. What little music left does manage to put the viewer into the mood, though, so long as you're able to tolerate all the other flaws.
The story is the downfall of DCSS, upon finishing the second season, DCSS leaves the viewer with the question "Why bother making a second season at all?" To say that the story of DCSS is an extension of the original is flattery. Truth be told, DCSS's story is nothing but the predictable, painfully unoriginal, and functionally retelling of the original story. With the introduction of a new character, it lulls the viewers into a false sense of security with the hopes that a suprising new twist will enter the story. Then DCSS proceeds to dash those hopes repeatedly against the walls as surely as the viewers are doing with their heads.
The characters in DCSS recieved no character development beyond the established belief that you've watched the first season and remember how the characters behave accordingly. In other words, if DCSS was a stand-alone anime, there would be no character development at all beyond pointing out the woefully obvious fact that Aisia (the new character that brings all the false hopes) is an obstinate idealistic imbecile incapable of understanding the most simple of lessons. The remainder of the new cast recieved one episode of ah, "character development" each before being thrust back into anonymousity, leaving viewers with the feeling of "too many girls, too few episodes".
The value of this anime? The rewatch value is the rough equivalent of a hard-boiled goose egg unless you'd like to repeatedly bash your head against unyielding concrete. The anime isn't licensed, and I pity whichever company that actually does license it in the future. If one day it does get imported to North America, Europe, or any other English-speaking locale, don't purchase it unless you're the kind of person whose favorite anime is Wind: A Breath of Heart. The fansub? Don't download that, either, it might contaminate your hard drive space.
In translation: dis anime is teh sukz! go watch teh orignal DC 4 teh uber pwnage!
Ahem, in conclusion, this anime is in no way worth your time, nor your waste of electricity watching it. You're better off reading Shakespeare than watching this stuff (no offense to Shakespeare, of course). While the original Da Capo was a jewel among harem anime, this sequel is merely a Da Capo.

| I truly think this is a great anime series...i liked the first season very much, too.
Everything in this series is above avarage I think.
The animation is eye for candy, voice actors fit perfectly (well this is true for most anime) and so on :)
The new character, Aishia is a cute little one, bringing some comedy to the series.
But i'd like to watch what will be her 'part' in the story ^^
By the way i really love all the characters.
At first i didn't like Nemu that much (because in the 1st season Sakura was my fav. character) so... u know what i mean ^^
And i liked Suginami too, he is outrageous!
About the music: I think both OP/ED is very great, but I started enjoying them only after i've heard them a couple of times.
And i like the progressing story. I just watched episode 18 and WOW!
It's getting interesting, i think.
I dont wanna spoil anything so I just say I was really happy after watching this ^^
Maybe this is the most 'serious' and 'deep' series in the genre!
It will worth your time I think.
But be sure to watch the first season! ;)

| in my opinion, the first series is a lot better then in the second series... when i first watch it... kotori... personality change...
but i stay watching it anyways
in second season there's more "fan service" and also more ecchi parts unlike the one fomr the first season. The song is better then firstr season especially the bginning song.
Story:
prett much like the same as the one from first season... instead of the cat lady(without name) there's aishi.
Character: no new character expect aishi so far.
Well i myself like da capo so i would give a good mark for it.
the personality of the char are pretty much different for some ppl so u can say it's either worst or more interesting...
Second season... in the beginning u can say pretty much like first season but as u watch on u'll find out it's different.
overall: very good

| The first episode left me so intrigued. It was really a well done anime and many agress with me on that, except for Hangman. Erm you need a check on its "H-content". It really don't have much. And if you are mature enough, there are alot of anime which into ur view of h-content [ for starters: girls bravo, green green tv, mahou sensei negima ], juz becoz they have nudity in them. If you are so sensitive to them, dun watch any anime that is under the category of romance.
Back to topic, I really feel that they didd a nice job in this anime. Into the 4th episode, I compliment on their nice songs for both ending and opening. They also added alot of comedy into the series. The only thing is that Nemu just disapeered without a trace. A guess is in the last two years, she went back to living with their parents, around the same time when Sakura left. The start of episode 1, the letter is so much to be guessed to be written by Nemu [quoted from another forum]. So we can anticipate her not coming back until around the climax or during the epilogue. Nemu also can be the girl in the ending who is standing next to Asakura [other best guesses are either Sakura -not high chance- Kotori -Asakura really likes her now- Aisia -Well how knows? :P]
I am still waiting for episode 5 raw!!! and shinsen-subs episode 4~ :P

| It's a worthy sequel to the first season and it pretty much leaves off where it ended with an addition of three new characters to the staff. However I found it a little annoying with Aishia not knowing things and screwing things up. Of course, she's just interested in learning magic so I guess I shouldn't too surprised. I find the fillers in the beginning a little too cheesy so it turned me down and gave me a little bit of a negative impression. However, as soon as you-know-who came back, things started to pick up as jealousy arose from all side to some degree. Then another former major character returns and adds more to the touch. I think this season can be easily overlooked but also underrated, if I made sense. It's worth watching if you liked the first season and want to continue watching what happens to Junichi, but other than that, it's a basic harem-like anime. Well, enjoy.

| I am updating my review because Im going to try to be more objective and compare to what seems to be a more competitive pool of anime in this romance-hgame transition group.
Overall DCSS was an alright series on its own, but it was a lackluster sequel. It has beefier animation (although you might have fans of previous first season style), more image songs, and lots lots more girls. I think there were too many characters, and wayyy too much focus on one girl, Aisia, which did not seem to contribute much esp to the last third of the story when the plot really goes into overdrive.
I Really think the ball was dropped on this...and this series was going up against other big ones like Shuffle! and Lamune. Worth a watch if you have the time, but I personally liked first season much more.
