| First off, I'm a 24m guy with a GF (if this makes any difference...)
This great series starts out with some comical bits. A great way to get a new viewer drawn into the anime. Overall, it is an emotional roller-coaster from light comical fun to serious heart-sinking moments.
The main character (Renton) starts out great, but he went down hill IMO.
Eureka is wonderful all the way to the end. Does a great job portraying a shy girl with many mixed feelings. I like her the best. XD
There are 3 kids in the series, and they are annoying until the last 2-3 episodes.
The other characters are unique and pretty cool, however, some are kinda lame.
Great job on the story and values as a person. Teaches to release your feelings and accept others to lessen your emotional burden.
Yes, the romance is the ideal juvenile type, but certain parts of it are very important to a healthy relation.
The emotional conflicts between the 2 main characters near the end of the series made me cry at times, because some of them have personally happened to me before.
1st opening title was great, and regular BGM is great too. The music during the emotional scenes are beautiful. Fits the scenes perfectly and draws out the viewers emotional feelings even further.

| Eureka 7: Psalms of Planets is a highly praised 50 episode mecha action anime released in 2006 that truly stands out from all other anime. It effectively uses its length to develop every aspect to a level of practically unmatched brilliance in the anime world.
The character designs of Eureka 7 are excellent, as can be expected from Studio Bones, the same studio that made the stunning Fullmetal Alchemist. Every character featured in the anime is totally unique in appearance, and some characters are also created using a totally different style. Repeated scenes and animation are non-existant, and although there is nothing to complain about in the animation, the final episode stands out with some pretty impressive albeit shortlived computer generated scenes. Still, the graphics and animation pales when compared to the other factors of Eureka 7.
Right off the bat, the first episode of Eureka 7 will start off with a brilliant opening theme that will give viewers a flavour of both the top quality soundtrack that will be present throughout the anime, as well as a feel for the sense of freedom the storyline and characters in the anime strive for. The really surprising fact however, is that the soundtrack of Eureka 7 actually keeps getting better as the anime progresses. Pretty much every theme song and insert song is highly memorable, and never becomes tiring to listen to. In fact, the music and songs will leave viewers wishing for more. Eureka 7 has a soundtrack that is arguably the best I've ever listened to.
The Japanese voice acting in Eureka 7 is excellent from start to finish, and although the English voice acting pales in comparison at the early stages of the anime, the acting audibly improves, and strongly rivals the original Japanese dub in the later stages. As a result, it is highly rewarding regardless of which version you listen to.
Eureka 7 has a storyline which is of such a high calibre that there were numerous occasions where the producers could have ended the anime, and still resulted in one of the best anime ever created. Although Eureka 7 starts off rather slowly, the anime reaches an incredible climax between episodes 20-26. Had the producers stopped there, Eureka 7 would have no doubt been a very outstanding standard length anime with little room for improvement. However, the storyline of Eureka 7 actually manages to improve even further, and reaches another even higher pinnacle only a few short episodes later. This trend continues throughout the second half of the anime, until the very late stages. The ending of Eureka 7 is rather precarious however, and might not please all audiences. Nevertheless, the storyline of Eureka 7 covers everything from parenting to religion in a wonderfully superb fashion, that in my opinion easily outshines Fullmetal Alchemist.
Apart from entertaining, the cast of characters in Eureka 7 are inspiring, and the character development is first-class. Almost every character in the anime undergoes significant changes in the anime, and this is all done in a very subtle manner. The level of realism of the characters in Eureka 7 can be surprising at times, which complements the storyline perfectly. This degree of realism is further heightened in the way the anime is not afraid of killing off its characters. Still, the way in which the characters in Eureka 7 develop is definitely some of the best I've ever witnessed in anime.
I cannot imagine that anyone would be disappointed by watching Eureka 7. It literally has something for everyone, and viewers who appreciate good anime would be easily impressed by Eureka 7. Apart from the 2006 remake of Kanon, Eureka 7 is the only anime I've ever given a perfect score, and it easily deserves more. There is no doubt that Fullmetal Alchemist was a masterpiece, but Eureka 7: Psalms of Planets is just simply better in its awesome soundtrack and rocketing storyline, and at least en par in its animation and character development. I think I've made it pretty obvious by this stage that I would strongly recommend this anime to everyone.

| A great surprise. This show looks like it could be simplistic and action-oriented, but actually provides quite a good story, great character psychology and development, and beautiful art and animation. The music is quite good as well, with the exception of some of the up-beat poppy endings (and openings) which to me did not capture the mood of the show too well. The more outrageous elements, like hover-surfboarding on rainbows and the transforming mecha are actually written into the story preatty smoothly, and the alternative sci-fi world is rich and well constructed. With a roster of varied, well-written charactes (not all of whom are children!!), and 50 episodes practically devoid of any filler material, it is certainly an anime worth checking out. The only downside to me is where they went with the ending. I would have chosen a different story arc for te last 3 episodes... or a different team of writers. Overall, it's a great anime, and its quality is a alot better than anything the show's premise might suggest.

| This is one of those animes that I feel like I don't really have to say that much about how good it is. This is a mystic robot series so if that's just not your thing then feel free to walk out of the room at any time. Otherwise, watch it. I'll just say that, I can just sit down and start watching this series and people start gather around me. It just grabs you. It feels fresh and a little weird. It's very creative. Also, I could nott spoil the ending for you if I tried. You would see the words on the page, but they just wouldn't be coming together in a way that makes sense. Not until you've seen about episode 40 could I spoil the ending for you. Its one of those series with a big vocabulary.
Another thing I'll mention is the romance between Renton and Eureka. I've heard some criticisms of it, but, as for me, by the time I saw this anime, I was sick and tired of romances where the two participants spent like 4/5 of the series diking around and pretending not to be eachothers' love-interest when it had been goddamned obvious to me by day 1. Renton wastes no time. Come day 1, he knows Eureka is his true love. As for Eureka, she either doesn't get it or she declines to consider at the beginning. Either way, it was a breath of fresh air for me .
There's not much else to say. You know, like, really good animes? You know how those are, right? Like, you watch it, it's fun, then it' engaging, then it surprises you and then picks up the pace while maintaining that same basic pattern. Also, Eureka 7 is a little weird, but that's what makes it a mystic robot anime though its less serious than others I've seen.

| This is an excellent anime all around. The character development and design are good, as is the plot. Animation is excellent, and the writing is well thought out as well. The fight scenes are just as enjoyable as those sweet, tender moments between Renton and Eureka. It has it's share of laughs, and tear, and even suspense. Renton and Eureka compliment each other well, Renton, obliging and helpful, and Eureka, sweet and gentle.

| Great animation. Good sound (sounded like they used some Final Fantasy themes here and there). And then everything else is just painful to watch.
Warning: If your 18 years or older, you will not enjoy this Anime.
Perhaps I should be choosing my Anime in the future with a suggested viewer age, but this one either was or seemingly targeted at 13 year old boys or girls.
Oh my god the kids were annoying as hell. The 2 main characters were also ... very adolescent like with behavior that matches their age. What do you expect 12 year old boys and girls to do or act really?
The entire storyline is extremely streamlined and watered down mysticism/sciency/mechy kind of feel. The one theme that struck me through the whole thing was "Naivet'e".
But if you enjoy very annoying and frustrating characters, little kids crying non stop, some mech action (of course, the main Mech is invincible), toss in an anticlimatic ending and you have Euraka Seven, which I watched because I saw it here in the top 200 Anime and I thought hey, there's a highly rated Anime that I haven't seen yet. Perhaps a great series for kids, but that's about it.

| Simply put, Eureka 7 is amazing, and so far the best anime I have seen. I must say, when I first read the synopsis, I feared another poor anime about robots for the sake of robots. However, I am happy to say the characters are well-rounded, extremely endearing, and very human. The story encompasses many aspects of personal struggle, loss of innocence, the gray area of war, and the value of life. Coming from an animation background, I was impressed by the attention to detail in the art and movement, the color breadth and the aesthetic relationship to the theme. The music was phenomenal, I listen to the original music as well as the pop-music intros and inserts all the time. This is also an anime where the theme takes a while to develop, but when it fully surfaces, it is, enjoyably, well thought out. This anime really takes a different approach to themes already covered by different animes and is not an anime that you're supposed to think and wonder about. It was made with purpose, and made flawlessly. It is one of the anime, nay, one of the few pieces of entertainment, that I have truly enjoyed as much as I have. Eureka Seven is awesome.

| "Don't ask for it; go win on your own. Do that and you'll succeed."
Eureka Seven isn't completely original, it follows the steps of many other mecha shows in many situations. However, it has its "different from others" moments. Robots can't fly, they can ride air waves - never seen that in any other shows, and damnit, skating beats flying. Also the whole idea of the plot is different and has its own distinctive feel. If not for the fillers Eureka Seven could have been much better. Let's say it used only around 70% of its real potential. Some characters are original, while some are not. It's unfortunate that most of the main cast fall to not.
I highly recommend Eureka Seven to any mecha fans. Also, if you have no real good animes in your watchlist, Eureka Seven is not a bad addition, just don't expect something groundbreaking.

| This Anime is fantastic ( just finished watching it in four days .. phew ) .. i give it ( 9.5/10 ) for being excellent in every aspect ... but the i feel the story ( being explained and clear by the end ) still had some plot holes or uncleared questions.. but it is ok .. i liked it a lot anyway .. but first let's talk about the good things
-Fantastic art style .. vivid colors .. cool designs .. everything just looks right and the art quality is almost consistant through the whole series
-One of the best sound tracks i ever heared ... the music is top quality and plays a great role in setting the mood for the sad or epic events going on .. also all the punk style music related to DJs and Reffing is cool too ( specially Chales and Ray theme .. i love it )
-The story for my surprise makes sense ... after watching evanglion and rahxephon .. i thought i was gonna end up with some weird incomprehensible messed up story ... but no .. it has its mysteries .. but it all makes sense in the end .. thank god ^_^
-The CHARACTERS are what you should be watching this series for ... and for all those who complain about side stories ... guys .. it is what makes you attached to the characters and makes you worry about them when they get involved in the main events of the story ... how could you care about a character you don't know anything about .. besides .. all the side stories tie well with the main sotry themes and ideas .. and that's hard to do belive me !!!
I gotta say it really has the best character developments in any series i have seen .. all characters evlove and chnage through interacting with each other .. it seems to be a main theme in the series ... even the robot Nirvash evolves .. lol !!!!
And don't get me started about the romance in the series ... it is rare this day to see romance without fanservice .. it was very romantic and enjoyable to watch all the couples in the series .. mostly Eureka/Renton, Holland/Talho & Ray/Charles .. all character relations are well crafted and thought out ^_^

| Eureka Seven is a fairly decent anime overall. While the plot is flawed, it remains entertaining and even somewhat interesting throughout, as Eureka offers enough depth of storyline through its 50 episodes to stimulate interest.
But, I didn't like the anime overall, and so I really can't recommend it to anyone.
It's got some appeal, though.

| this is one of my favorites. if you're in the mood for something that has characters you can get attached to, this is it. if you want a good love story that isn't sappy or fanservice based, this is it. it has some good comical moments early on, some cool action, then leads into deeper drama accompanied by action. pay no attention to the people that complained about animation or the surfing robots. the animation is good, and the fact that the robots 'surf' in the air to move is just how the writters tried to differentiate the mechs from all the other gundams-like things, which we all know are the same. this anime will take you through ups and downs, but the ups are great and you won't feel cheated when it ends.

| Eureka Seven is one of the better titles I've come across this year. The first thing to draw me in was the music, a key element to the success of this series. A stellar list of musicians added something different, ranging from slightly rave-like music to detailed electic guitar. I particularly enjoyed "Storywriter"
As for the anime itself, I personally thought it was great. Plenty of creativity with the environment, although I at first thought the idea of "surfing robots" was pretty stupid. Gradually I began to appreciate the fight scenes, but that wasn't really what I was interested in.
What I enjoyed most from this series was its depth of Characters. Granted, several wern't fleshed out particularly well (holland obviously could have been the main character in this series, his background story was far more entertaining to me than the others) but generally speaking each character left an inpression on me of sorts, and there were relatively few stereotypes.
I particularly enjoyed the episodes involving Ray and Charles, as well as the character developments between Eureka and Renton.
The ending felt a little rushed,(and very nostalgic towards End of Evangelion) the episodes before hand seemed slow and somewhat sluggish, then the last two episodes conclude everything, which is a bit of a dissapointment since this was a 50 some odd episode series.
Far from flawless, but still a notably good anime worth checking out.

| aaaah... Eureka Seven.. funniest thing, i only heard about eureka 7 when it popped on anidb's top 10. and it was #1 for a whole week. i had heard about the show but so many issues prevented me from watching it. first of all it was mecha, and second it was 50 eps. this was during the end of my of my junior year, so I went and read the msg boards on anime suki, and read the reviews on anidb and animenfo. All the reviews were quite astonishing and praise worthy. The fact that it had been ranked so highly to actually debuting at #1 at the anidb charts I was in awe.
Then there was the whole nanashi-fansub drama that spread in the anime community so I was bound to hear about it. On campus we have this DC++ thing and a bunch of folks had all 50 eps so I dl it and said id keep it and watch it over the summer. I watched it and I liked it. And that was it. This was around June I think. Exactly a year ago. I was on campus for the summer studying for med school exams.
But then something happened, sometime in december when I was browsing through adult swim and they were showing it. It was dubbed and all, but I was so caught up in the first episode, and I couldn’t understand y. I had seen it before, why was I so caught up, and excited?? I went and got out my hard drive and decided to watch it again. Shit. As far as I am concerned, I saw 2 very different shows.
You know how one time, there was this girl u knew, she was okay looking, u never thought she was hot, but she was kinda cool. Then one night you actually had a deep conversation with her, and at that very moment, she was becoming a new person. When you saw her the next day, she wasn’t the same… she became ridiculously hot…. U find yourself fantasizing about her every hour, daily, and from nowhere these feelings just busted upon u. And then u begin to wonder, wtf is going on?? Since when did I start liking her, she’s always been cool, but goddamn, why cant I get her off my mind. Next thing u know… well to each his own… I digress.
But I think I got my point across.
That was how my second viewing of eureka seven was for me. It was a totally different anime. The moment renton leaps off the cliff from the very first episode hoping to fly, I plunged and soared with him. Gekko state became my family for those couple of days I relished in eureka seven.
***********SPOILER***********
And one of the greatest moments in all of anime, and I mean all of anime takes place in episode 26 when renton realizes how much he loves eureka and revs back to the ship, only for eureka to realize how much she loves renton and she leaves to go find him. And then ray and Charles attack.
That ep is full of such beauty and poignance, its just amazing. When Charles is chasing eureka and shes dodging all those bullets and then she pounces off her boards and breaks her hand. She slips and falls into oblivion… and renton comes to save her right when she is saying good bye in her heart. He saves her and they declare their love for each other, simultaneously Charles is chasing them like hell but not even coming close to catching them. ~sigh~ at that moment was when the E7 shattered its way into my top 10.
********** END OF SPOILER*********
This greatness of this anime has no specifics. The characters, the music, and the story wow. I dl the ost right after I was done, and I was blasting it on my way to and from class for a whole week. Renton and eureka as amazing as they were in character, they didn’t shine on their own. Each person had a story, and for each story u felt their pain, joy and struggles. Be it dewey, anemone, Holland, and many more. The Art in this anime I don’t think can be topped. I honestly think it is flawless, except for the soccer ep. But top quality animation for 50 eps, c’mon, I give mad props. The only anime that has superior animation is probably Gankutsuo. I don’t think I will ever see something more beautifully animated in my lifetime.
Most of all I love the diversity in this anime. For once they didn’t draw us black folk like monkeys, or fucking black-faced clowns with the big lips and afro. Look at every other anime besides planet es for how black people are represented in anime and u’ll see what I mean. I don’t understand why they draw black people that way… maybe its ignorance or xenophobia…
“Days” was an awesome song. I think its def in my top OP of all time. So many great songs on the ost But the song that gets to me most is Eureka, and Distant memory. These songs just transport me to that beautiful yet fucked up world. At the end of the day, Eureka and renton remind us that life and love are supremely fucked up to the core. Yet within moments… however small and subtle… we can find beauty.

| I'm really surprised at how tough it is to score Eureka Seven. I enjoyed a large portion of the series, but at times I found myself with my hand over the fast forward button. Perhaps the most frusrating aspect of the series is that (like so many others) it had so much potential but blundered it a number of times along the way. In my opinion, E7 had a plot that drove the characters rather than characters which drove a plot, and in a series that clearly is focused on character development, this hurts. Fortunately, this hurt isn't enough to drive E7 into its grave, as it does have many strong points that make it worth watching.
For one of Bones' productions, E7's animation, shockingly, is of low quality. Character designs were very shoddy and seemed to run by the budget. Character complexions are pale and bland most of the time and don't feel too involving. It wouldn't surprise me if an animation budget for 26 episodes were alloted here instead of for 50. The same idea goes for backgrounds, though E7 is able to get away with it a lot of the time because open skies don't require an abundance of detail. Despite this, however, E7's mecha scenes are a real gem and are animated very smoothly and fluidly. The best part here is that the camera is never still and moves as rapidly as the LFO's (the name for E7's mecha), which does wonders for immersing the viewer into the series. A tradeoff, I guess, but I think E7 could have done a lot better had it put this same level of detail throughout the series instead of in a select few scenes. As much as I enjoy splended animation in a series, I would much prefer it being ubiquitos and good rather than sparse and amazing.
Perhaps the best part about E7 is its music. Of the 4 opening and ending themes, I only really cared for a few (perhaps 2-3), but that's by far the worst it gets, and it really isn't all that bad. Many of the action scenes are accompanied by trance/acid pieces, and to amazement this actually worked out very well. Especially given the upped quality of animation during these sequences, I guarantee you'll have your head bobbing to the beat more than once throughout the series. Charles' theme "Get it by your Hands" is definitely one of my favorite character themes I've encountered yet. Not much to say about the music score besides that; the Seiyuu is okay save for the little kids and some of Holland's flashbacks to a child (I like how the grown men have voices of 6 year olds, it's great).
Overall, the story behind Eureka isn't half bad. It starts out simple enough with a typical 14 year old kid, Renton, who dreams of becoming a member of Gekko State, world reknowned reffers (air-surfers). It quickly turns into a journey of love and war as the masquerade of Gekko State quickly begins to disappear. For 50 episodes they pack in a huge amounts of turns and twists and are always keeping you wondering what's going to happen next. I'm usually upset when series leave loose ends undone in explaining things (like 12 Kingdoms), and I can't say I wasn't here as well. The part about the mecha really bugged me since, from the getgo, you're introduced to bio-mecha, but never get any details regarding them. Little things like that. They do explain enough to not feel lost though and keep E7 moving at a steady pace; after the first 5-6 episodes it picks up and keeps going strong up through 49...and I say 49 because E7's last episode is a total embarassment to the anime. If you make it that far you'll see what I mean.
My biggest gripe about the story though, as I mentioned before, is that the plot drove the characters instead of the characters driving the plot. Many times Renton, Holland, or Eureka would go way out of character for a minute or two just to create a new direction for the story to go. I found myself scratching my head a few times saying "Now where the heck did that line come from?" Being heavily focused on the character aspects of the series toward the beginning, I felt E7 did itself a disservice by shifting toward a story-focused second half while leaving the characters a bit behind (hence the need for out-of-character lines to further the plot). It definitely doesn't kill E7, but it's a mistake that I think really got in the way of making E7's story/character ratings "good" instead of "great."
As far as characters go, Renton wasn't a half bad male lead. He has definite character development from start to finish, similar to Hikaru from Hikaru no Go. Eureka was alright too, though I think she could have been a bit better had the writers chose not to make her so cookie cutter. Sadly, I think she took a step backward in depth from start to finish where, ironically, Renton took a step forward. Talho and Holland top off the hero caste, and I have to say I liked the progression both of them made as well.
The villains, on the other hand, were really kind of lame. Dewey and his entourage of 10-year-old sadists was really pretty pitiful, and the whole Anemone/Dominic thing was introduced but never really fleshed out. Charles and Ray were definitely the pick of the litter, though, and I really liked their characters. My only wish is that they would have devoted my time to this subsection of the plot, as I think is was probably the best arc in E7.
In summation, E7 is an above average series with many highs and lows. Though I definitely don't think its for everyone, it does have a mixture of mature themes to go alongside its childish appeal (it canget pretty gory at times). It's a fun watch and I ashamedly forced more important things out of the way to watch all of it in 3 days. It has its charm and, while I'm not sure I'd watch it again, it is definitely worth one time through. Try it out.

| This is one of my favorite anime's of all time, it starts out slowly but once its up to speed it gets really exciting. Also alot of drama in the beginning to explain things and to develop the characters slowly i liked that point of it i got to know them better. The music is great especially the cherry blossom song. Mecha mixed with drama, action, love is a pretty good mix. I'd recommend it to people who would watch all the episodes instead of letting it hang, like i said it starts out slow. This is one of the animes that is actually worth re-watching.

| For all the pretty fight scenes and stirring background music, Eureka Seven is too long and too
slow to be considered anything other than “for fans” of mecha.
