Kirameki Project is the tale of a bunch of mecha designers attempting to demonstrate how powerful their robot is by having it defeat the robotic champions of various countries. However, when the robot (named Big Mighty) goes to the small European island of Genes, they meet their match in the form of Junerin. Designed by Princes Kana, Junerin is a multi-story tall kawaii robot girl with a nasty punch. Comedy ensues when Kana doesn't want to see her robot hurt in combat, and won't let it fight.
Add to this two slab-of-cheesecake older sisters of Kana, princesses Krone and Rincle. Rincle's sole function seems to be to let the camera look up her skirt while she's wearing a power armor Nene designed. Krone's sole function seems to be to let four bishonen guys who are Genes' "last line of defense" swoon all over her.

This one is bad. VERY BAD. I had to do the MST thing to get through it. Urban legend says that the American voice actors walked out on it after doing episode #3 rather than endure more of this turkey. I can't say I blame them.

The animation of the anime is beyond what I've seen so far. Maybe Geneshaft or Appleseed comes close to this, but nevertheless it looks magnificent. Sound is also not all too bad, but it could be better. For one I didn't like the closing themesong, among some other aspects. The story is kinda old. We've all seen big robots fighting and we've all seen the small fighters prevail against the greater ones. But still an enjoyable and satisfying story. The same goes for character. Rincle is cute, but the other characters are nothing out of the ordinary. Good, but not overly superb.

Overall conclusion: watch it if you like "cute" animes and you're not really into mecha.

First of all, it is not a kind of anime to enjoy the story. Watching this anime, I recall AIKa. Like AIKa, this anime is to enjoy fan services. Of course, fan service means upskirt shots etc. However, there are other interesting scenes. The funniest part is the main robot. It is a very strong giant robot drawn using 3D computer graphics, but its appearance is very cute. I laguthed at the scene that her armors(?) are detached with explosion and smoke and school swim suit appears under them. On the other side, the robot of the opponent looks like those of 70s, such as Mazinger Z or Tetsujin 28. This mismatch is very funny. Furthermore, it is interesting that the anime draws the sorrow of the enemy. He is just a middle aged salaried worker who has his own home. However, he is neglected in the house, and his daughter and mother doesn’t love him much.

Anyway, I don’t recommend this anime if you like to enjoy stories, but it might worth while glimpsing at the fighting scenes between robots.
