| In all, maybe I've judge this anime to harshly. I would say it was meant for kids but some of the comedy or "serious" tone becomes very sexual. But it was not enjoyable. You will not love any of the main characters. People compare this to Cowboy Bebop or Trigun (great anime)... There is no similarities. Maybe in the character design. But if it were anything like those shows... Maybe I would've enjoyed it more.

| With the endless plethora anime programs being released nowadays, it's become really hard to know what's really good out there. A lot of animes are being released [albeit sub par storylines and low entertainment value] simply to capitalize on all this anime craze as of late, while there are others that are being created for the sole purpose of titillation and fan service. After a while, with all of this anime flotsam floating about it all begins to take its toll on the anime consumer, and eventually the interests of even the most hardcore and long term of anime fans [& otakus], begin to wane. But every once in a while comes salvation, every once in a while an anime comes along to remind us what it's all about....reminding us what exactly makes anime so special. Gun X Sword is such an anime. Not since such landmark animes such as Trigun, Cowboy Bebop and Gundam Seed has there been an anime series to provide such total and well-rounded entertainment.

| After just watching the 26th episode i feel disappointed and a little annoyed i used up the hours of my time watching the series. Fair enough its got great animation and the sounds alright (altho i always compare soundtracks to bebop or trigun and it doesnt come anywhere near to their brilliance) but the story is incredibly unoriginal and the characters just the usual bunch. It's true it does pickup halfway through the series as many anime's do, but even in its best episodes it feels like a rushed copycat of every good anime to come out.
The mechs aren't as good as evangelion or full metal panic, the fights are nowhere near anything as fun as say bleach or scryed, and the emotions, world eradication theories and back stories don't feel like anything new at all.
It's a shame because it's mainly originality that kills it, as if it came out 10 years ago it might've been rated higher, but it just isn't anything new. Oh and the fight in the last episode was pretty anti-climax.

| I didnt expect much of gun x sword in the beginning. i thought it would be the usual hero suffers pain then fights the guy who seems stronger and wins the end. perhaps that came true but the twists that occur on his journey are really convincing. the main character is van. the best description for him is that he is a combination of vash the stampede and spike. that is the first thing you will notice about gun x sword and it will annoy you for sure but as the story progresses you come to forget about it. van travels together with a little girl named wendy who is in search for her brother who was abducted by a man with a claw hand. now they share the same enemy because the beloved woman of van was killed by the same claw man.
that is pretty much the story but what follows is a really cool concept of not knowing who really is good. perhaps the claw man is right with what he is doing and van who solely seeks revenge is wrong. this may be a unique point in anime but teh end just couldnt satisfy me. was the claw man really bad in the end? is what van did the right thing? overall i have seen an entertaining anime with lots of chilling scenes and some annoying parts. gun x sword has a cool ed and op because it is kind of unusual. especially the op reminded me of the ninja scroll intro (which was probably the best about ninja scroll tv). the animation was great for a 26 eps anime. fluid movements, action packed fights and beautiful scenery make it good to look at.
my main critcism about the charactersis that you dont really know why vans`woman was killed. you can just guess it. there is not a single person whose background remians hidden in the end but why cant there be a single happy person once in a while without losing someone important. always the same stuff about having lost precious people. that all could be sad when it is done properly but gun x sword wont be famous for the dramatic past of its characters.
i can recommend this to anyone who is not a big fan of cowboy bebop or trigun because they will be angry and come up saying it is all copied. everything has been done already by anyone and gun x sword may have stolen some parts in other anime but it still has its own unique feeling.

| A new age Trigun. Some call it Bebop 2, and some the new Big O, with narration and music from S-cry-ed. Truth be told, when watching this show, you can't help but feel they ripped a LOT of popular ideas straight off of other shows and simply ran with it. But there's still a lot of likable elements that actually mesh in an entertaining way. Why this isn't airing on CN is beyond me, it's the most surefire success I've seen in a while.
Ultimately, you have a lead reminiscent of Spike, kicking arse in a Trigun-esque setting, and wielding a giant mecha eventually against a group of baddies and their leader. Sound familiar? It sure feels that way.
But the audio, including the dub, is phenomenal. Chills will run down your spine. The show is fun albeit a bit forgettable. And, while possessing few original elements (if any), the MIX of the elements is quite unique.
There is literally a girl who pilots her mech.....by straddling a pole like a stripper. No joke.
Not original by any means, but this show does one thing exceptionally well - entertains.
SEE THIS SHOW.

| Random is the first word that came to mind when I started watching this. It mixes a futuristic looking world, with the old west, mechs and nutters and a wannabe cool lead male.
Overall I found it a little boring, very slow, the characters are lacking and the storyline isn't new. It's not something I'd bother watching again, but it's not bad as long as you don't expect too much out of it.

| Warped up Peter pan story with additional evangelion-esque elements and armageddon type plot. If you were a peterpan freak like me, you'd know from the start that this story attempts to touch on certain adventure/hopeless desire features of the original J.M. Barrie story, yet doesn't succeed, unfortunately. Read to understand. The similarities are obvious. Endless illusion? Never never land? Utopia for thugs and violence? Never never land. Wendy? Michael? John's missing, but that's okay. Van? Pan? Van's forgetfulness? Inability to grow up? Allusions to his immaturity? Hook? Claw man? Even certain scenes were similar. One could say Carmen was like tinkerbell, except she wasn't stuck around Pan, I mean Van, all the time.

| If you are looking for a mech anime with an decent plot you found a good one here. This is not Gundam deep storylines but it progresses quite nicely. You will learn all about the characters and your not really left with any major cliff hangers like some other animes.
The good:
I like how this anime pokes fun at mecha while at the same time bring certain elements into full force. IE A group of characters has a power rangers like mech while another character has a gundam zacko type mech. The characters each have their own motivations and stray a bit from the cliche roles to leave you liking the characters in the end.
The Bad:
If you want lots of subtlity and dept in your anime this is not the anime for you. If you hate mecha then don't watch this anime. If you have watched TRIGON, COWBOY BEBOP, OUTLAW STAR, or any GUNDAM you will see all the plot twist comming a mile away. Some folks said this anime was like kill bill mixex with cowboy bebop. They are right to a degree. Add in some EVA philosphy with the crazy villain and you have this anime. If you hate anything I just said then don't watch this anime.
The Ugly:
The character looks aren't the greatest. The cg could have been a bit better. YOu really have to stick out past the 6 episode to really get a grasp on the world.
Summary:
Over all I liked the anime and recomend any mecha lover to watch it. It has ok story and the ending will suprise you a bit. If you wish there was another season of Cowboy Bebop or Trigon this may not satisfy your craving but it will give you good memories.

| The anime begins with the usual one villain or problem per episode as the duo travels from town to town in search for something personal. It follows the usual build up to the climax then the sudden summoning of the mecha/armor to deal with the problems, defeat of the enemy, and then move on as the people who were in that town are touched by their heroics. HOWEVER, this is only meant to introduce the characters and to kind of provide context for later development. Soon, this cycle stops and the characters embark on a great journey and then a momentous encounter against the past.
We have a typical main character who is extremely strong, has some sort of painful past. He doesn't take care of himself well (he always manages to starve himself since he has no money) and since the beginning it kind of implies that he barely wishes to live because of something that happened before. Then we have a typical young girl who wants to prove something. She ends up taking care of Van while she searches for her brother who was kidnapped. We also have a few other support characters that pop up from time to time in the duo's journeys that kind of tie the new place in with everything else.
In a way, Gun X Sword's atmosphere is very similar to that of Cowboy Bebop's (the main character has the same cool/silent demeanor about him with the dead lover in the past thing) except this time he also has some sort of Trigun-like mantra of "I don't have a reason to help them". Although very un-Trigun-like, Van ends up helping them anyway for some arbitrary reason or another. Another similarity to Trigun is that this place is very Wild Wild West style with 6-shooters, cowboy clothes, small undeveloped towns with saloons - yet there is some crazy unexplained technology that is super powerful and only a very small handful of people have it.
DESPITE THIS USUAL beginning premise, Gun X Sword soon deviates from the repetitive cycle. There is this very warm feeling among the characters. First of all, Unlike Trigun's Vash who doesn't care about anybody else and pushes them away, Vash indirectly has this warm fiber inside him that allows him to go out of his way to help others despite his verbal expression of disinterest. The main strength of Gun X Sword is that the character's aren't afraid to feel. Because they express emotions in their pure and simplest forms (in other words, NO crazy self mental anguish while grabbing their head in pain and confusion), it is very easy to get into this anime.
The flow of this anime reminds me of Kino no Tabi. In each episode they find themselves in a new town, each totally different than the previous one. Most of the time it is a totally run down yet homely one, sometimes they find themselves in some high-tech town/facility, at others it is almost like a vacation spot, etc etc. In
each place there is also a crazy amounts of problems between the residents of each place which the main characters always get caught up in. However, the main difference is that each place that they end up in has some sort of connection to the man that Van and Wendy are chasing. So in every episode, there is actually some relevancy to the overall plot.
In general, this anime is pretty entertaining and engaging to watch episode by episode. If you start watching it in a long marathon, it could potentially get repetitive especially at the beginning where time is devoted to getting the characters from point A to point B. Otherwise, Gun X Sword is a pretty well made action/journey anime with a good balance with its fight scenes, Van X Wendy character developments, and overarching plot line development. There are quite a few scenes which made me laugh too. Furthermore, there are episodes with quite the depressing tone, which lead to an interesting balance.
I would recommend this anime to anyone who likes a balance among character development, action fighting, and traveling

| Welcome to the review of Cowboy Bebop 2!
At least my first thought when I started to watch GxS was: "Damn Spike! I missed you!" Later in the series I thought something like "A freaking catmecha with cleavage with Lacus Clyne clone pilot!" or "A freaking pole dancing big breasted mecha fighter!"
Hope that got somebody's attention. Well, back to the review. GxS isn't really Cowboy Bebop 2 even if it shares Spike's twin brother Van as the main character and some similar elements. The story has a destination from the beginning: Van's revenge. From the start it is clear that everything will end with Van and the Claw Man meeting and resolving some issues. The get there he must travel quite a bit and meet some interesting personalities. The story isn't really the strong point of the series. It contains some rather incredible technology that wasn't so well thought in my mind. Just an excuse to get people together. Same goes to the background story of the planet.
On the other hand what is very interesting are the characters. Take Van for example, our hero. Hero driven by bloodlust and revenge. Claw man, the bad guy, driven by the will of making the world a better place without violence. What the hey? So I agree that Claw Man's method isn't that great and the guy seems to be quite insane but the fact that Van is totally driven by his will to kill Claw Man gives the series a nice twist. I mean when confrontated the bad guy says 'We're trying to make the world a better place for all", the good guy says "I wanna kill you!!" So sweet.
Rest of the cast is nice too. Wendy with her conflicted quest for her kidnapped brother. Her brother, a good guy to the bone but seeing the world through a narrow window. Joshua and Ray with their own troubles. A dozen of other guys clinging to either side for various good reasons. That's mostly what GunXSword is all about: good reasons to do things. The consequences aren't that important. The characters form a nice group that interacts well with their past and present mingling. Too bad I didn't get any personal attachment to them, so when people died I didn't really care about it.
Animation of GxS is very smooth but sometimes the CG isn't that well placed and looks a bit odd. Characters look nice and likeable (Fasarina I love you!!!). The world is well designed and during the series we visit almost every possible enviroment. Variance is plenty. Music is good too. It has the proper strength for the fights and serious bits and lightness for the comedy. Good voice acting accompanies the music.
GunXSword is a good series. It doesn't have the last spark to make feel for the characters but they have enough appeal to make me think of them after the series has ended with the thought of "wonder what they are doing now".

| GXS is one very under appreciated anime!I Read many commends comparing this to Trigun and Cowboy Beebop in bad way of course, but to be honest i found GXS better than any of those two show, i really do!
First off all, GSX gets very deep after 12 episode, after that its just an amazing show, with beautiful yet not complicated story.Characters are so loveable, all of them, from Van, Wendy, Carmen 99, Ray.....all of them in unique way give something to this anime. There is not even one single character that is annoying and that is a big plus.
To explain plot in simple words, its about guy called Van in search of a man called Claw Man who killed his wife on a day they were supposed to get marry.Van to revenge his wife in a way gives his life so he can control Mecha Robot called Dann. One of best armors in world.
On his way in searching Claw Man he meats girl called Wendy, coincidens her brother was kidnaped by this Claw Man and after Van saves her town from a group of tugs she starts following him in hope that if she stays whit Van, then she might meet her brother. This sounds like cliche, but it much deeper.Along the way many new characters and side characters appear and each time refresh this show. There is great balance in using so many characters later in the show.Music in not the greatest but it fits theme of this show perfectly.Animation is high class.
Over all this show must be seen all the way to the ending so it can really be appreciated.Don't judge it immediately, in worst case wait to see episode 13 and many thing will get clearer, more serious and story gets deep. This is one of my favorite shows from year 2005, maybe even best anime from that year.

| I have noticed that alot of people have said that Gun X Sword is unoriginal and just puts together elements from other animes and etc. Although there might be some truth to that, Gun X Sword is still worth the watch.
At first the anime is all fun and games with a little action here and there, but the anime really picks up after episode 13 and gets better and better after that.
The story focuses on Van, who's on a mission to avenge his late fiancee who was killed by the Claw Man who is the main villain. There are several sub characters like Wendy, Carmen, the Eldorado Five, the (new) Original Seven and even Van's rival Ray who come into the mix and help produce a very nice character setting for the story.
In my opinion the animation, sound, and story were all excellent. I've already mentioned the characters and I definitely think I can watch this anime over again because it was very enjoyable. I highly recommend Gun X Sword to anyone who enjoys mecha, weaponry, comedy, and revenge type anime.
To anyone who enjoyed this anime as much as I have I leave you with this last request...
"give me all the seasonings you have...yes, all of them."

| The animation is superb. Everything is up-to-date and the creaters paid attention to details. The blue liquid is also very nicely done. There's not alot of computer graphics, but the good framerates and effects make up for that.
The opening and ending theme songs aren't great, but the in-show music plays well to anticpate the events. I think the one of the strongest point in this anime is how well the in-show music is used. Sound effects are quite nice and clear; it's superb.
Story, mostly through Gun X Sword, plays on the normal one evil villain and his many pawns to fight the hero. But in this case, there isn't a real hero, just a less evil guy, Van. Near the ending is where the story gets really interesting. The claw man is supposed to be some evil villain, but he has a very kind personality, thus making me question who this guy really is and what are his true intentions. There's a lot of mysteries in this anime. There's also a whole religious aspect in this. Overall, the story and the some amount of depth makes this show quite enjoyable to watch.
Characters are varied and they're not the usual characters I've seen in most other animes, making them somewhat original. Everybody had their own way of doing things. Van only cared about killing the claw man. Wendy followed her own path. Love relationships started to rise in the end and gave something dramatic to watch, but since this isn't a love-romance anime, it never took part. Characters also had their own way of looking at things: what they do and their beliefs. We actually got to see and understand why the bad guys are doing what they are doing. What I'm trying to say is that there's a lot of character depth and development, and clear explanations for that.
For value, the anime was very enjoyable to watch. It falls very close to a collectable series. There's action and there's some nice seriousness about the plot. There's also deep character relationships, but something was missing or something went wrong. But I do give points for the unique and original way the plot is presented.

| The first thing that came to mind when I began watching this particular title was it reminded me of cowboy bepop. It has some good animation especially when it comes to the combat scenes. The sound overall is alright, but I wish they had some better opening and ending music. The story has a somewhat cowboy bepop feel to it. Apparently the main character of the story is looking to avenge his wife who was killed by a claw man. So he goes on wandering town after town looking for this guy. A girl joins him because apparently her brother went with this clawed man. The storyline moves on from there. Even though this anime seems to have a lot of common elementals, there are still quite a few unique things in this title. For example the main character, whose name is van by the way, has an interesting weapon he uses. I won't say anything about it, but if you want to find out, you'll just have to watch it. The characters aren't very unique, but then again the anime has yet to go into them too deeply. Overall value... meh I really believe it's worth watching if you are into anime like trigun, cowboy bepop, etc. I feel these kinds of anime viewers will like it more. Overall I like the anime since I'm one of the people that like trigun and such.

| When I first started watching this show I was quite unsure if i wanted to continue, however from experience, I knew that some animes took some episodes to truly reveal their worth.
That is how it is with Gun X Sword.
The show begins with a very unoriginal plot and many cliches from other animes. However, as the show conitnues it slowly becomes more original. I would say around episode 11 is what really got me into it. As it continues, so does the seriousness.

| This anime is basically throwing some elements from Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, various mecha anime and possibly even Kill Bill (once you keep watching, you'll see why I mentioned Kill Bill) into the mix to create a pretty satisfying show, even if it's somewhat derivative.
The show is basically about a journey of the main protagonist, Van, who travels with Wendy unwillingly after she tags along with him to search her brother. Van is seeking the "claw man" who has apparently killed one of his loved ones, and he is totally consumed in his quest to hunt the claw man down. Thow this story in with a whole lot of weapons action and mecha (aka Armors) action, and the show ends up being pretty fun to watch even if the story doesn't seem all that original.
Upon my first impression and watching through 3 or 4 episodes, I thought the show was very derivative and all the silly little moments seemed totally useless. However, the deeper I went through the show until the incredible 13th episode, the show started getting a lot more serious and the characters felt more dark and seemed to have more of a past within themselves.
All that helped strip away any feelings of unoriginality I had of the show since I became hooked to the characters midway through the show (I guess you can say that this type of story structure is almost exactly the same as Trigun's).
Overall, I was very impressed with the show, and it's really worth the ride. Those who want a revenge story, a cute story (involving Wendy), mecha action or martial arts/weapons action should be very satisfied with what this anime offers.
This anime isn't exactly the deepest anime out there (except maybe for the claw man's deep babblings), but the action is packed to the gills and you should find atleast some of the characters to be likeable.
I'd recommend this anime a lot to those who are either new to anime or those veteran anime fans who are not so jaded as to be turned off by the bad impression of the firse few episodes.

| Finished 26 episodes. IT got on my nerve to review and recommend this.
Story is not that creative for a sci-fi series but it's very acceptable.
Animation is great. Character design is surely great, particularly the girls lol
The character development between wendy and van is smooth and touching slowly and promising. The introduction of Priscilla makes the picture a little bit blurred later but oh well, that character brings more lively plots to the whole story.
Not to forget the other lines between Ray and his brother is also well made. And the struggle between the two groups of people. Really got something to think if you wanna get serious.
So Story I would give an 8
Sound is really great, music is enjoyable and the choice of ED music according to chapter endings greatly enchanced the effect. Eg. epiosde 24
Apart from Epi 3, Ep 17 is really funny as well. Every one should have a look even if you don't watch the other episodes :P
Seiyuus performance is basically perfect. Every one from main to small potatoes act really well. Wendy and Carmen 99 are 2 of my favorites.
Someone compared ith with Stampede, well, it has something similar but Stampede is not very original as well :P

| It's a real shame that not many people picked up on this series.
This anime really holds its own in terms of action and animation. The animation is just simply beautiful, from the landscapes to the battle sequences. Some of the battle sequences were a bit unbelievable and exaggerated, but very fun nevertheless.
The story isn't exactly the most original thing there is and a lot of people complained that GUN X SWORD is stealing from other anime elements. Well, it's not too difficult to overlook that, since the story is constantly trying to make itself look cool! From sword fights to gun fights, this show has it all. Although, the story of a main character seeking revenge isn't a new one in concept, the idea of the Original Seven was well done. In fact, I can't wait to see the next ep! The story will slowly draw you in, it's a shame if people started givin up on this anime after the first couple episodes. There's more character development in the later episodes. If you are skeptical about this anime, at least watch up to ep 13, which in my opinion, was an absolutely stunning episode, best ep thus far.
Value and Enjoyment: 10. I will definitely rewatch this again. Afterall, who could hate it when it has all the elements we liked from other anime? Recommended.

| Vann is the pilot of the robot Dann. Vann tries to find a murderer from his past in a western dessertworld.
Together with Wendy (a cute little girl who tries to find her brother) they set out on a journey.
The story is absolutely ridiculous and it tries to be succesful be stealing elements from other succesful animes.
The only episode i liked was one with a few old geezers which resembles the power rangers. This episode incapsulated that much ideas from other series and did it so badly, that it was over the top. It cracked me up!
The story isn't very original and characters are done badly. The animation on the other hand are good and the backgrounds are good too. But it's the story and the characters which makes the anime. On these 2 points, Vann the stampede misses out.
Gun X Sword is hardly worth while.
