| Mecha anime is probably the oldest type of anime there is. For me I think this genre is pretty much “played out” as they say, and I've since moved on to other types of animes that can better hold my interest. I also don't like anthro-art, beast-art or anything that invovles hybrids. Guyver goes that extra further step and hybridizes the mechanical with the organic, to which I say........ew! That being said, I still think it's OK to watch.

| Review From A Hardcore Guyver Fan
One of the first anime series I saw and when I say that trust me catching ANY anime in England in the early 90’s wasn’t easy.
After watching the new series I decided to wait a while before reviewing, as I had mixed emotions about it, comparing it to the older ova version and gathering my thoughts…well in a nutshell an excellent remake.
Animation
Good animation but I noticed the gore level was cut down a notch compared to the ova which was one of Guyver’s highest selling points IMO but still the shading was good, fight scenes were JUST above average and the Opening was actually quite cool.
Sound
Opening is a very nice/sad song very appropriate, character voices were cool, Zoanoids were perfectly cranky as usual, I really would like to hear the new English dub for this one because in the ova sho used to scream all the time and aptom made me laugh the way he used to taunt sho, so that’s something for me (and other fans) are looking forward to.
Story
Excellent, I say excellent because I never read the manga and the ova ended on a ridiculous cliffhanger that always left me wondering will the story continue. Well it didn’t just continue, the story was remade (so to speak). Expecting the same things that happened in the ova I was considering skipping to the rest of the story, luckily I didn’t and apart from the first two episodes which correlate with the ova the rest was a fresh new perspective of the story of Guyver. I wont give any spoilers but I will say that although it is the same story as the ova, key (and I mean KEY) elements of the story and characters are explored and explained like never before giving the story more substance, as well as events taking different turns new characters etc.
Character
Another shining point for the remake. Character development is so much more explored/explaned now between characters (e.g. shos relationship with his father and past, Agitos past.) This really helped with emotional build up with main episodes (cough enzyme 2 cough). The characters themselves are as expected entertaining, whether it’s Guyver 3 plotting or Zoanoids surprising relationshipss with each other. In retrospect its quite amazing the way your views of characters may change throughout this series. Nothing lacking in the charcter department at all.
Enjoyment
I would say enjoyment could easily be increased by watching the OVA series first.
If you do happen to watch this version first I can guarantee you still won’t be disappointed. Guyver itself is a very interesting take on an accidental hero (like spiderman) dealing with a overwhelming situation when just trying to live a normal life.
Unlike spiderman you will get a intense level of action, excitement and science-fiction not to mention storyline & plot-twist that will leave you shocked, surprised & satisfied!
As a hardcore Guyver fan I was very impressed and satisfied with the new version.
Cant wait for the ADV dub so I can watch it again later this year

| In the beginning i was very attracted by this show but later on i was desapointed by some aspect of guyver. first of all the animation is not top notch last exile which was produced in 2003 is way better but in average its not bad at all could have been better. The soundtrack is great and very pleasent. The character design is good but it could have been better especially the charachters perspective drawings, but generally the implementation of some 3D effects gave this anime great visuals. The story is excellent, classic but excellent. In general its an anime to watch. its ranked in my top 30 animes.

| I have been a moderate fan of the original 12 part Guyver OVA. While it started off with a bang sporting some nice animation, gory fight scenes and well-designed characters, it faltered in the latter half when it had to cut it's production short and ended the series on a cliffhanger. No one likes cliffhangers obviously so the series generally left a sour taste in some people's mouth but for others it gave hope for a revival.
Fast forward to 2005 and that revival is here. Seeing the original 12 part OVA piqued my interested in this series. Naturally I had to watch this to learn what happens of the story and the character cast after the cut-off. Here's the full review of the NEW Guyver anime which is 26 episodes and goes about twice as far as the original storywise but still stops abrupty for a likely 2nd season...

| Let me start off by saying I love this show. I have seen the 15 episodes of it so far and I do not regret watching this show one bit. This is definately a remake worth watching.

| Guyver is an epic manga and anime documenting the struggles of teenager Sho Fukamachi in his battles against the evil global organisation Chronos.
In the story Sho obtains an ancient alien technology called the Guyver, which transforms his body into a bio-weapon. Yes I’ll concede that just like the premise sounds, the plot can get a bit contrite (especially the party where the entire world population is transformed into monsters).
That aside, Guyver is a classic series, with good drama, and some great ‘set piece’ moment. It’s a shame that so few people seem to be aware of the anime. For anyone who hasn't seen the Guyver, I highly recommend viewing the anime.
Most people will recall that this is the second time Guyver has been animated. There was a previous Guyver anime released in the early 1990's (this version took a lot of liberties with the Guyver manga).
Story wise the new series is much stronger this time around. The Guyver manga itself is original, exciting and packed with some surprising twists. The writers for the anime have treated the manga cannon with respect this time around, and it really shines through. By adopting the original storyline, the show covers lots of content, keeps a good pace, and even managers to finish with an appropriate ending (well at least for Season 1).
The animation itself is a bit of a let down. The anime is bright and colourful but the attention to detail in the models just isn't there. There are also too many of those zoom-in / zoom-out still frames which gets annoying. I’d imagine this has more to do with budget problems.
Highly recommended series and very underrated. Given it a look.

| When I first saw the original Guyver ova's, I loved them. When I first saw the movies, despite the fact the first one is corny as hell, I loved them...or rather I should say I loved the Guyver itself. The whole idea of a suit that boosts your human abilities biologically isn't done very often...in fact, it's almost never done at all, and this is the only series to my knowledge where that is the main focus of the series, which is a shame. Not only does the armor look DAMN cool, what it can do is incredibly impressive and imaginative given when it was first made (over 20 years ago) and this new remake is something I love as well. I just hate the fact that it's being completly ignored by the anime community in whole concerning the rest of the world....
