| The Guyver becomes bishounen but without the help of aliens ^__^ Generator Gawl is what the Guyver could have been if the charaters had been a little prettier (that sounds so shallow, but I don't care LOL).
GG is a very interesting sci-fi anime with a time travel theme - which is always a good thing in my book. I could imagine H.G. Wells writing something like this if he'd been a modern day Japanese manga artist LOL
Anyway, as sci-fi anime go this is very entertaining, but maybe a little too short.

| That's the best short anime I've ever seen and uderappreciated too.
Anime is only 12 episodes long and if I've had 5 hours I would surely watch it at one go. The plot is complicated and interesting, when you watch it, you want more and more. The characters are superb and Gawl is one of my favourite characters of all time. The art is great too especially when considered that it was made in 1998. Such beautifully drawn characters isn't ordinary. When the anime ended I had tears in my eyes (and I have to admit that I'm not someone who is moved easily) not because it was sad but because it ended too quickly. Thanks to taht I will remember that serie to the end of my life.
All in all this is a must watch anime, it has great humour, interesting characters, marvellous plot and art. I highly recommend this one.

| Definitely a very enjoyable series based purely on the fact that it is saved by really good characters. The story was nice as I really am a big fan of the whole time travel bit and that plays out quite well at the end even if it borderline goes to the realm of being too farfetched.
I do however must point out the obvious fault. The animation is simply bad for an anime of its time. My guess is that they chose to have more fluidity over quality. The characters are very well developed, the ending was a bit rushed and wouldn't mind a sequel to finish things up more properly.
In conclusion the series was above average and if fan of scifi and mecha, something you'd definitely enjoy.

| Well, times come and times go. As such, anime like Byo Booster Armor Guyver came and went...somehow I couldn't get that anime out of my brain while watching Generator Gawl. The first half of this anime was boring. I mean dead boring. It mostly went on by the cliche: monster comes - monster goes...in pieces. Nothing really interesting except for some bits of story.
The second half ain't half bad but I have a terrible problem with the time-travel part of the anime. Why? Because time travel is paradoxal, it always is and always will be. There is no way for the story to get an ending so it was forced into it through Gawl. I won't give anything away but my sheer discontent in the time-travel part of the story. Although it is nicely told and put into scene, because of it's basing in time travel it gets to stink. The story had potential, it had strength but, for me at least, it was dissapointing. The use of time paradoxes with such elegance that the anime shows kept me from giving a lower mark to the story.
The opening sound is a gem. The ending could've been polished...nothing much in the sound sector.
The animation? Sad! The fights are poorly scripted and poorly executed. One of the reasons why this anime was somehow boring.
Moving on to characters! I must say that these chars were a great bunch. I dare to say that's the strong point of Generator Gawl: it's characters. I'm usually pretty much right on the money when I'm guessing about future situations based on individual characters. In GG, my gueses proved to be wrong most of the time and that's a major plus for the anime. Somehow, these characters have depth through their action, through their pasts, through their guilts. And, because of the clever use of time paradoxes, I must say that very pleasent surprises arise.
I won't be rewatching this any time soon. It was fun but too damn boring at times to consider it on the list of "to see again". I enjoyed myself and I did not...the time travel part and ending really killed my impresion on the anime. As a side note: DBZs time travel idea is far better than this...that's what time travel aught to be like, not this. My opinion!

| Thought it would be avrage stuff at first but the story just keep twist and turns. My first thought it gonna be like come back from the future to save the world and that's it turns out to be a interesting story because of time-travel and characters intervene. Nothing annoy me and the plot and thoery can become truth in the real world. I'm sure you'll like this one if you have intersting in time-travel. Nonetherless it's a good stuff.

| I'm usually not a big fan of this kind of animes, where the main objective seems to be, basically to defeat the bad guys, that are really, really mean and plan to take over the world. I always thought it was too overdone.
Well, guess what? Generator Gawl proved me wrong... it proved me, that an anime with this kind of storyline can be good... because it's plot has more than just your average action/science fiction anime.
The characters have depth; they are smart; they have their own characteristics, and can be easily distinguished.
There is some romance and drama, that add depth (yes, I know I am repeating myself) to the plot.
The very concept of the story, is interesting. It has very original elements that make it interesting and different.
Plus, it's not very long, which is good. I believe it would become boring if it was too long. So, it's just the right length.
Well, add some very good animation and bearable sound, and you have a very nice action/science fiction anime indeed.

| A decent anime, indeed. At first I thought that this was another one of those episodic, new-monster-a-day type of animes. Then the storyline picked up and it got really good - the last half was great!
The animation was only fair in my opinion.. not only does it definately show its age, but in many situations they should have zoomed out more on the fight sequences - since you cant tell whats happening. That being said, a few of the fight sequences were also WAY too dark. The sound was alright, watching a dubbed version is usually worse than watching subtitled, but the only voice that annoyed me in this anime was masami's.
The story and characters were the best parts of the series, as it should be. The character design for the generators were cool looking. The characters had their own distinquishable personalities and werent at all bland. You definately learned about each character and how they view things at the end. The storyline appeared weak at first but the last half of the series was great. This series dealt with time-travel the right way, and thats all im saying about that.
I gave value a good score because of the length - if it was any longer it would be worse. Plus i think i wouldnt go nuts rewatching a few episodes.
Overall, i really enjoyed the series. The ending really dropped off which lowers the score a bit, but i felt it was a cool, quick romp that I would reccomend to others.

| This was a fun show. Nothing too deep, just fun action and comedy scenes. It's a great show to watch after you watched something really deep or a long series, because this is only 12 episodes. Everything about it was pretty good. Animation, music, a slightly predictable story, but the characters were pretty good. I just had a good time watching it. Recommended.

| Generator Gawl is a series which for me, started out slow, but was ok. Then as time progressed it just got plan out boring, infact I stoped watching it at six episodes in. Then abot a month later, when I had nothing else to watch, I pulled it off the shelf & started watching the rest of it & low & behold, it was actually good, if not excelent.
It just kept getting better & better as time ticked away up to the very last episode.

| Dieser Anime startet wie eine typische Actionserie mit viel Action und "Enemy-of-the-day" Episoden sowie einem guten Schuss Mecha, entwickelt aber eine sehr spannende Story die sich bis zum Ende immer mehr steigert und mitzureissen weiss. Auch die Characktere sind interressant, sind sie zu Beginn noch sehr Animetypisch (Aufgekratzter, teils lustiger Hero [Gawl], ernst und cool [Koji], labil und zurückhaltend [Ryo], das schüchterne Mädchen [Natsume] und was nicht fehlen darf ist der hysterische weibl. Hauptchara [Masami]) so werden sie im Verlauf der Serie zum Teil sehr ernst dargestellt und haben unter anderem auch mit psychischen Belastungen zu kämpfen die man nicht erwartet hätte. Die Story hat auch einige Ãœberraschungen und Wendungen parat und treibt die Spannung bis zur letzten Episode auf den Höhepunkt. Generator Gawl ist nicht einfach ein weitere Mechaanime mit Action ohne Plotline sondern weit mehr. Definitiv empfehlenswert!

| This series manages to accomplish in 12 episodes what many animes fail to do in 26. The series starts almost insultingly simple but by the end so much has happened you'll be truly amazed. Each character plays an important role and your understanding of their motives, emotions, and overall personality grows with each episode. In addition to that, there's a ton of great action sequences and a great deal of well executed humor. Finally, the series manages to finish strong, something most animes fail to do. This is the total package people, a must see for almost everyone.

| I didn't expect to see such a good anime and the first eps are not promissing at all but don't get discouraged, this is a great anime focused mostly on the plot complexity.
An excelent title that worth seeing and keeping.

| Wow, what a great anime. Gawl turned out alot better then i had thought it would, i was extreemly impressed.
Its short enough so that every episode is packed with substance but at the end youll wish there was more! The whole time travel thing is very well done and the idea of the generator is by no means overplayed. you wont be able to say this is a gundam or eva copy by any means.
Great animation, sound, story, and characters add up to a superb viewing experiance.

| Speaking from the perspective of a girl who didn't really enjoy the almighty Evangelion, I found Generator Gawl to be much more intelligent and tightly-woven than some more drawn out series. On the one hand its short length keeps the pace up, but on the other it makes you long for more! ^_^ I felt that the art and colouring could be improved in some areas, but the mecha moments were very well done and the whole 'generator' concept was interesting and absorbing. The overall draw of this anime was the unusual and highly original plot, a refreshing change from <insert-random-mecha-anime-here>. I had to watch it twice or thrice to appreciate the whole storyline. Plus the Japanese seiyuu did a good job, though I hear that the English dub is good, too. And check out the manga too, it has way cool art!

This anime was amazing, simply amazing. I just finished watching it and it is now my current favorite anime! I didn't think it would be this good, even though I had already seen episodes 1-6, before I watched the whole series now.
I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS ANIME TO ANYONE!!!
