| Firstly I would like to say I’m glad I waited for the Kaizoku-Fansubs version of this movie (K-F are the best hands down everyone knows that, even tho they are behind a lil).
This was hands down IMO the best One Piece Movie to date; it was like a long version of a very good episode with a VERY DARK & DISGUSTING turn of events. I’ll try to keep this spoiler-free.
Animation
Animation was great, they seemed to have spent more money on it this time so the scenery was wonderfully designed and the action scenes where just straight forward and excellent ESPICALLY the ending parts.
Story
Story was great this time because it was more like an episode where they go somewhere and just have a little fun, this is what makes one piece - the series great, then later when you do get to see the DARK & TWISTED storyline trust me you will find yourself shocked and excited....compared to the last movie this was a good change of pace.
Character
Character is what makes one piece what it is and as usual the comedy and action makes the characters great. The other (movie) characters are also quite interesting but nothing out of the ordinary…..this is what makes the actual storyline a bit of a surprise.
Value
I’m gonna go a tad off topic in relation to this and say I’m glad to hear Funimation are going to do a REAL English Dub of one piece and not that bullshit that almost destroyed/tainted one piece. One piece’s value is always high that’s just
a constant fact of life, I would be happy to add this to my anime collection when its
released for us westerners. I LOVE the Jap version tho don’t get it twisted!!!!!

Overall
If you watched the other one piece movies which are generally all good look forward to this one as well it does not disappoint at all its just classic ONE PIECE!!!!!

| Von allen One Piece-Movies fällt dieser hier am deutlichsten aus dem Rahmen und das sowohl inhaltlich als auch optisch. Was dem Zuschauer buchstäblich mit Sicherheit als erstes ins Auge sticht, sind die eigenwilligen Charakterzeichnungen die sich in punkto Qualität sehr stark vom Rest der Optik des Films abheben und das nicht gerade im positiven Sinne. Die Figuren sehen aus als wären sie nur lieblos hingeschludert worden und machen mit ihren dürren, krakeligen Outlines den Eindruck als würden sie aus einer Vorabversion des Movies stammen bei der den Charaktermodellen noch der letzte Schliff fehlt. Wenn man sich die wirklich sehr gelungenen Backgrounds und CG-animierten Objekte anschaut, wird einem klar das dieser Umstand sicher keine Folge eines zu geringen Budgets, sondern wohl als Stilmittel zu verstehen ist. Jedermanns Geschmack wird damit sehr wahrscheinlich nicht getroffen, aber wenn man sich dran gewöhnt ist es nur noch halb so schlimm und der Unterhaltung tut es keinen großen Abbruch. Und Spaß macht dieser Film auf jeden Fall, denn er hat neben dem typischen erheiternden One Piece-Humor auch einiges an Kreativität und Abwechslung zu bieten die ihn von allen bisherigen OP-Filmen grundlegend unterscheidet. Die Story ist zwar einmal mehr mit der Basis versehen das Luffy & Co auf einer Insel landen und dort einem Obermotz trotzen müssen, aber diese ist gut verpackt mit einem Davy Backfight-ähnlichen Wettbewerbsplot der der Handlung vielseitig gestaltet und der Langeweile kaum ein Chance lässt. Mit steigender Dauer des Films gesellt sich dann auch erwartungsgemäß der eigentliche Hauptplot hinzu, der sich erwartungsgemäß um die wahre Bedeutung des Wettbewerbs dreht und nach und nach die wahren Beweggründe des Bösewichts zu Tage treten lässt. Auch hier überzeugt der Film mit guten Einfällen und streut auch noch gegen Ende eine gute Portion an Dramatik mit ein. Was mir ebenfalls gefallen hat war, das der Film die stärke des Bündnisses der Strohutbande unter anderem zum Thema macht und die Crew dieses mal sogar mit aufflackernden Beziehungskrisen kämpfen lässt. Das alles führt am Ende zu einem tollen, mitreißenden Showdown der um einiges düsterer ausfällt als gewohnt und mal wieder eindrucksvoll Luffys Hingabe für seine Nakama untermauert und sogar dazu im Stande ist für ein wenig von dem Gänsehautfeeling zu sorgen, welches die emotionalen Höhepunkte aus Eiichiro Odas Hauptgeschichte immer wieder vermitteln. Was die Supportfiguren angeht, so gibt es hier nicht unbedingt sonderlich überragendes zu sichten aber sie spielen ihre Rollen gut aus und sind auch nicht völlig nutzlos, sondern tragen auch ihren Teil zum Gesamtergebnis bei. Sogar der Hauptfeind wird mit einem guten Motiv und Hintergrund ausgestattet und kommt wenigstens nicht so leer und kanonenfuttermäßig rüber wie die anderen Fieslinge aus der OP-Movie-Riege. Fazit: Mir hat dieser Film insgesamt ziemlich gut gefallen. Optisch ist er zwar nicht unbedingt der Ästhetischste unter den One Piece-Movies, aber vom Inhalt ganz sicher einer der Besten!

| My main thoughts throughout watching this 6th One Piece movie was "is this really One Piece?". It's a travesty of the highest proportions, it goes against the grain of everything else that One Piece has ever offered me; the viewer.
I hated (and I mean HATED) the animation. I hated the out of character characters and the whole storyline had no plot, no purpose and no reason for being in the first place.
I wanted to turn this off around 15 times, but carried on to the bitter end and thought the only other time I have hated a spin-off this much is Samurai X: Reflection (that'll show you how much I HATED this!!).
I'd say if you're a One Piece fan ignore this like the plague; pretend it doesn't exist *lol*

| This was my favourite One Piece movie, because of the different approach. Start of with the obvious, the art style is COMPLETELY different, but the results worked out well. It's darker and more sinister than the others, the challenge is more difficult and risky, actually makes you think " are they really gonna die this time?" Intense and exciting with some good jokes.

| First off, this is not the One Piece you'd usually expect... I didn't find any proof for it, but i am absolutely sure that this movie was done by the same studio that did Samurai Champloo, its exactly the same drawing and animation style and every single moment just screams Samurai Champloo (and when the voicetalent of zoro started talking very much like mugen, i suddenly realized that it was the same voice all along...). And this is exactly what makes the movie stand out so nicely, a totally different style... the animation the drawing, the coloring, everything is not quite as you are used to it from the usual One Piece stuff, everything is totally stylish just like mentioned anime.
I even felt the humor was there and how the mood turned from the usual senseless fun-stuff into totally dark and depressing without the slightest warning was just ingenious.
Unfortunately theres quite a few drawbacks anyway, especially in the finale the animation just isnt as great and mindblowing as youd wish and storywise everything doesnt make as much sense as it should.
on the bright side, the soundtrack is extremly well done and helps to spread general grand movie-atmosphere unlike many other anime-movies i can think of.
i guess this one is definately recommeded.

| Although this new 6th movie bears a lot of resemblance to the prior ones, One Piece Movie 6 is extremely dark and at times just depressing. (especially when compared to the usual mood of one piece stuff). In fact, if I could compare this to something else, I would compare it to NARUTARU.
Why?
In the beginning, one piece goes on its usual happy go lucky pace. Luffy wants to go to a new island, which seems to be one of the best resorts ever, they go about different game activities and participate in many "sporting" events. However, there is a very dark side to this island. (I will not ruin it anymore than that). It is this extremely dark side of this anime that totally sets this movie apart from its predecessors.
However, what does that mean? Does it mean that it isn't worth watching? No, not at all. Even though I thought that the dark aspects were out of place, and the battles to resolve this were horribly done, I found this to be entertaining as one piece can get. A lot of the usual randomness, different abilities of the natives, and a whole bunch of mysteries to solve about why those people look so funny.
In the end, anyone who is liek me and has seen much of one piece would enjoy this darker side of things. those who haven't really appreciated the light hearted humor will not like this (and the subsequent contrasts at the end.) However, I think because of its interesting animation style, and pretty innovative pacing that this is worth watching.
conclusion: Different but good.
