| Loud, obnoxious, self-centered, lecherous, stupid, greedy and devoid of any redeeming qualities, Gokudo is one of the most irritating characters I've ever
come across. If there was one thing I could count on, it was Gokudo being a
total ass about anything at anytime. It certainly made for a nice change. A
light hearted anime, not ever serious, sometimes funny, sometimes trying to be
funny, without skimping on overall quality. The series is pretty much carried by
Gokudo alone. The other characters are necessary, flatter, less developed
hanger-ons. But why anybody would want to hang with this dickhead remains a
mistery. Sound is decent and the animation is fine. Story...ahem better not look to hard for one. Intro- and outro-music...well...they got that too (and we are not impressed).
Of course when it comes to funny, middle-ages, adventurer stories, the paragon "Slayers" comes to mind. And no it's not as good as "Slayers" (what is?). Still if you look for light entertainment and can find humor in an egomaniacal fool
character staying true to himself, Gokudo is certainly worth your time.

| Gokudo is an anime packed with fun, stupidity, great characters and laughter! I enjoyed every minute of it and would recommend it for lovers of comedy, or anyone who just needs something light hearted and fun to watch. It's a definite peaceful evening type anime ^_^

| From the onset, Gokudo-kun Manyuki doesn't deceive. it's just a show asking for a few laughs. the most blatant reason is that every other aspect of the show is just horrible. alright, it isn't half bad, but everything else is simply put there for the sake of being there and it is done very haphazardly indeed.
for instance, the animation can get quite sloppy, often resorting to re-used scenes, and very simplistic character designs which aren't all that to begin with. gokudo himself is a victim of the dreaded mullet curse and because he's in this pseudo-medieval magical world, he has to have a big red cape, as well as a magic sword that shoots fire. then there's his compatriot protector friend who in my opinion has to be one of the worst drawn characters ive ever had the displeasure of watching. there's no point in describing him, it's just awful, fortunately at several points he changes his image. the rest of the entourage that follows gokudo around is your typical motley crew of unlikely individuals who happen to be completely incompatible in any other situation but in this case end up being best friends. if you haven't seen this plot device/gimmick in any other anime, you seriously need to reconsider this hobbie.
on the idea of gimmicks each character pretty much stays undeveloped from beginning to end, merely fitting into the persona their given in order to fulfill the comedy routine. most of the time this is done pretty well. other times it just falls flat. for instance, when you get used to everyone acting immature and just messing around, it's really difficult to believe them when they try to get serious. gokudo is not likeable at all, and the way in which he stumbles across the fruit salad of a plot is quite a marvel to behold since anyone in their right mind can see that even in the most extraordinary circumstances, no character could get away with what he does.
as for everyone else, their likeness resembles a cardboard drawing, albeit with less substance. nobody ever questions anything, in fact most of the time they seem quite satisfied to follow this hopeless person around, making fun of his shortcomings, yet all the while trying to help him where they can, though gratitude on his part is seldomly expressed.
then again, i did say this was all just about the comedy, so maybe all this can be ignored.
the OST is another thing that was put there for the sake of being there. it isn't particularly special, and i doubt anyone would enjoy it as a stand alone track as there isnt even anything to distinguish it or make it stand out between any other tracks released that year. pretty much a mix of your j-pop rock flavours, though the second half ED stood out to me as the best of the main themes. the voice acting for one is pretty good, again not outstanding, but if anything, they fulfilled their basic requirements.
i never really felt like i had to force myself to watch the remainder of the series, even looked forward to some of the eps at times. i mean, a lot of times things just dont make sense, but it just feels like they trying to pull your leg. for instance, the main cast will start off by trying to solve a small problem (always relating to gokudo of course), after a while it'll turn into this big huge event which gets everybody involved, and after 4 episodes of attempts at developing it, one guy comes along and explains everything in 2 sentences. then one quick battle solves it all. it's just very unconvincing.
but it's still funny. sure sometimes the jokes fall a little flat, and do get overplayed sometimes which can often be blamed on overused animation gimmicks. the comedy is crisp though, since they mostly have to rely on trying to be original, since to my knowledge at least, there seemed to be very little material attributed to parody.
at the end of it all, weigh your options. the cons may seem pretty hefty, but i would say the comedy evens it out a bit. it's not the best comedy ever, probably not even in the top ten, but at least it doesnt waver like some other so called comedies these days, and like i said in the beginning, doesn't try to be anything else but funny.

| Gokudou-kun Manyuuki is just one hillarious show, I pretty much laughed all the way through this serie. Gokudou is problebly the most evil, selfish, small minded, lazy and FUNNIEST brat that ever have been created on the TV screen, (Hell, even Alucard seems like a nice guy compared to Gokudou) Why the other characters stays with him through the serie is for me a mysteri. The animation has a very simple, goofy look wich suites the series very well but I can not say that it's more than average compared to some of the other series out there. The opening song is rather OK but the rest of the music/sounds is just average. The other characters is also rather funny, they have a few hilarious lines here and there and they are needed to make the story go forward but in the end this serie is about Gokudou, he is indisputable this animes star.

| Gokudo-kun Manyuki, is a comedy you will like, Gokudo is the hero or so you think but he is more like the vilian, and stays true to his personality and that is what makes this anime so enjoyable. Gokudo is a not so intelligent and has the worst habits that u can or can not imagine, you maybe disgusted with his indecent ways such as: nose-picking, ear-picking, pick pocketing, coning, farting and is totally arrogent but you come to forgive him for the halarious outcome.
Gokudo has a carefree lifestyle and adventures for money, wealth and women.
So far i've only come to watch 3 episodes, it was fast-paced, a decent rpg story for a comedy. I would recommended it, since the anime is very funny. Consider this anime for a fun anti-hero plot.

| w00t w00t another good series. Gokudo is all about adventure, they traveling all over the place, Heaven, Hell, or even in some strange land called Trilariran. Our main hero, Gooookuuudooooo is so freaking suck, he lame, he evil, nothing good can came out of this tiny mind, but that make the series REALLY funny to watch. There many character in this story, and most of them were gods/animal/magical being. So... you had to have some idea about japanese or budda gods/folktales. But even you dunno shit about religious, you'll still get the joke and laugh you ass off. OP/ED is really good, i love them both.. too bad i can't find OST for it[REQUEST]. I really enjoy this harlarious series and so you'll too! so go get at your near by store ^_^

| Gokudo....Gokudo...story is messed. but what an awesome watch, I have no regrets watching this. One of the few series I have laughed out loud to. Gokudo is hilarious always thinking of himself, babes, and money, seems he's one half of a fabled prince, the dark half that is. You have Rubette the royalty turned fighter chick. Prince the, well price of magic world who lost his powers and forced to travel with Gokudo and rubette (he has a thing for rubette. and then a whole bunch of other side characters. this series puts Gokudo in many strange situations, He becomes a girl version of himself, then he becomes a useless old man, then he becomes rubette, then a baby version of himself. I recommend this show very good anime, action comedy and mild parody.

| Not bad, not bad at all. Gokudo is a suprisingly amusing 26 episode stunt with the sole purpose of giving the middle finger to any and all forms of organizes religion. With one of the biggest band of missfits I can think of, we get to see Gokudo; who wants nothing more then to lie, cheat, and steal his way into greatness, travel the world trying to screw people over for his own benefit but only ends up doing right by the influence of his friends (although he sees them more as an annoyance).
Gokudo-kun is all about the main charater. If you think you'll have a good time wathing the crazy antics of one of the biggest ill-manered, short tempered, rudest, bastards next to dark schneider then this is absolutly for you.

| Who is Gokudo? It's, generally, almost evil person. Absolute egoist, with total absence of good manners, not really brave, ill-tempered, etc. But circumstances (and companions) force him to do good things, generally, and that pisses him off even more... Entertaining anime, not so good as Slayers, with what it can be compared, but light and funny. Nice opening and ending themes. Original animation, attractive characters (even Gokudo himself, yes). Still, many flaws in the storyline, sometimes unexpected turns of the plot become really disturbing. Good anime, not best, but good.

| Die meisten Leute scheinen Gokudo-kun Manyuuki mit Slayers zu vergleichen was sicher nicht unverständlich ist. Die beiden Serien haben viel gemein jedoch ist Gokudo um einiges abgedrehter und bietet ein weit größeres Ausmaß an Humor was dem Zuschauer kaum eine Atempause gönnt. Tiefschwarzer köstlicher Humor der extraklasse sowie SD Massenweise prägen Gokudo von der ersten bis zur letzten Episode, trotzdem ist die Story gar nicht mal so oberflächlich und bietet sogar hier und da einige Innovationen die sich mit dem Humor super verbinden und ein wahres Feuerwerk an Gags abbrennen. Die Charaktere sind zahlreich und bringen enormen Fun mit ein, besonders der Protagonist ist absolut genial und unterscheidet sich ziemlich heftig vom durchschnittlichen Fantasyhelden, wer sich Gokudo ansieht wird schnell merken was ich meine. Gokudo-kun Manyuuki ist ein Anime den man nicht unbedint ernst nehmen kann, vielmehr sollte man sich zurücklehnen und sich von den Unmengen an Slapstick und Komik unterhalten lassen, denn in der Hinsicht punktet diese Serie ganz gewaltig und wird den Ansprüchen eines jeden Comedy-Fans mehr als gerecht!

| i wasn't too into gokudo. i thought it was below average-average overall.
i think gokudo himself is one of the most vulgar characters i've ever seen. he's trying to be dark schneider (bastard!!!), except unlike D.S. gokudo has not one single charming characteristic. DS is an asshole, but also cool. gokudo is JUST a disgusting prick. the only character i liked in this show was prince niari (i probably wouldn't have finished the show if it wasn't for him).
the animation goes from pretty good to HORRIBLE! the last 10 episodes are consistently well drawn (for the most part). the character designs are nice.
the music is pretty good. i liked the OP and both ED. the BGM is average. the japanese seiyuu did a great job.
i don't really know who to recommend this show to...i guess if you are a die-hard slayers fan, you may enjoy gokudo. it's a very strange show and gets progressively weirder as it goes on. it certainly has it's charms, but not enough that i would recommend the purchase.
also, the ending pissed me off and left a bad taste in my mouth. i won't ruin it, but i will say that rubette is an IDIOT!

| Gokudou is all about the main character; an selfish anti-hero 16 years old adventurer, who happens to be always get into some trouble, and he does that in the funniest possible way :) He is a mean self centered bastard, but there are always some reasons for good guy acts, which he does not do willingly. and he will be the first to escape the scene. But all the episodes are full of fun al laughter and I like the way Gokudou's friends laught at him or he laugh at them for some absurd reasons. Anyway just find all 26 episodes and watch them, they are full of fun. And there is some meaning in the anime, if you look for it. Actually the message is, we do not need gods! a quite heavy message for an anime like this.

| As other have mentioned Gokudo is a sword and sorcery style comedy in the tradition of Slayers. While it may be nothing terribly new, it does what it does pretty well. Much of the humor stems from Gokudo's complete self-interest, bad manners, and body emanations powerful enough to wake the dead (literally). If you like a good low-brow fantasy farce Slayers style you'll probably enjoy it. However if you're the deep though-provoking plot or tender love story type, this one may not appeal to you.
