| A boy, his bike and a few babes. Golden Boy is about all of that and more as the protagonist, as perverted as he may seem, often has a "heart of gold". Learning by life through trial and error Golden Boy teaches that hard work can pay off, if you're willing to ride the distance.

| Golden Boy is one of the rare gems that you'll be foolish to pass up. It's a light-hearted comedy packed with laughs and actually some positive insights into life. Well... not really... but can't hurt to look positively at life now can it?
Animation - I rated the animations high because they are great. You have to consider they were drawn in 1995, so by that standard, they are are great in my personal opinion.
Sound - Little is to be said about the sound aside from the dubbing is actually quite good. I usually hate dubbed anime, but this is one of the few anime that I don't mind watching dubbed.
Story - There's somewhat of a central story consisting of our enthusiastic and optimistic protagonist, Kentaro. He's on a journey of learning about life. Then you can say there's 6 minor stories where he interacts with the people he meet at his part-time jobs and how he changed them. It's really quite interesting. Personally, I like the concept of the story.
Character - Kentaro, the protagonist, has that quality that makes him very likable. He has that perverted side which he can't suppress sometimes, but overall, he's a generous young man who cares for others and hardworking. Rather than seeing a development within his character, you can see the change in the people he meets.
I must admit this anime, as old as it may be, is now one of my favorite. It helps pass the time, and it never gets old regardless of how many times I watch it. My only issue against it is that it is too short, a mere 6 episodes. It is just one of those anime that you wish they made more. I absolutely recommend it, what do you have to lose? It's 6 episodes; sit down and have a few laughs.
P.S.
Some materials may be inappropriate for minors.

| This is one of my favorite series. It consists of 6 45 minute episodes. Each one has its own story and characters. The only constant is the protagonist, Kintaro.
Kintaro rides a bike and looks like a dumb guy working odd jobs at different places. In all of the places he has either one or several beautiful girls around him who look down upon him. One after another, he impresses them. By the end everyone loves him.
You'll have to watch it to see how that plays out. There is a ton of ecchi/perverted humor. But it's really funny and entertaining. There was romance in it too, but nothing too sappy.
Of course this is mainly a guys' series. Highly recommended for that audience though. Truly one of the best cartoons I've seen. Great, catchy ED too.

| "Kintarou Oe, twenty-five years old. Tokyo University Dept. of Law dropout. However, he independently withdrew from school because he had mastered the entire curriculum. Since then, he has been changing jobs numerous times, learning about life. Riding his favorite bike, Crescent Moon, he keeps on moving."
Golden Boy is one of the better short comedy shows I have seen. It doesn't try to do anything extraordinary, it just tries to be funny and in some ways it succeeds at it. Both characters and story aren't meant to be taken overly serious, just a temporal fun, watch it, have a laugh, forget it. Golden Boy is like an anecdote. But it's a good anecdote.
If you don't have anything to watch - then give Golden Boy a shot, I don't think you are going to be disappointed, as there is not really much you can expect from it. However, it uses all of its, not so high, potential to the fullest.

| This is one short but hilarious anime which I must have my hands laid on.Once again,my time spent to my friend house is definitely worthwhile.I found this anime "Golden Boy" downloaded in his computer. He said something like,"oh that?dam perverted and funny."He did said more but that is enough to give you an impression about what anime you would expect.
Golden Boy consists of 6 episode(30 minutes each) with Adventure and Comedy as its genres.Yes,just 6 episode and the viewers are satisfied and happy with it isn't something I would call an simple anime.
Moving on to the anime,it seemed that Kintaro is a genius though a pervert too.He dropped out of his school(I forgot which..) as he already covered(better word?) the subjects required or something like that.He is 25 and now his aim is to keep finding part time jobs to work with(for his knowledge and experience purposes) even without salary.Amazingly all the female boss or whoever that hired him would firstly madly hate him and then ended up loving him as much.
Simply story plan and some hilarious(with a little sexual scene...) random episodes to have the anime work on is what I would give this anime very bad rating and lose my interests toward it(reviews is a point).Upon watching it myself,I laughed a lot too.So heh,you have to watch it then will you really get the anime's point, not the same old stupid comment.p.s I really like episode 5,the girl with the motorbike thing.(who wouldn't lol)
Overall this anime really worth my time and it is only 6 episodes(30 minutes each).Really impressive work.

| Seeing that Golden Boy had So Many Good Ratings & Reviews, I Decided to try Golden Boy out since it was a short 6 Episode OVA...
Firstly, the animation is pretty old compared to modern standards, but Golden Boy is from 1995. & I Only found that out after watching it. It looked like it was produced from 1998 - 2000. Well, so that proves that the animation Was Pretty Good for that time, & The Character Designs were Really Well Done too. =)
Sounds? Well, the Seiyuus did their Jobs Very Well, & the Theme songs were pretty decent, in my opinion. However, nothing exactly really interesting. They probably could have found better songs for their theme songs. =/ It was just decent, nothing spectacular.
What about the Story? Well, i have to say that the story of Golden Boy is Really Well Done. With the plots and ideas well planned out & the plot of every episode going at a good pace. I have to say that the whole Idea of Golden Boy is Pretty Well Done. With some very shonen ecchi comedy, & Kintaro's toilet-fetish, Golden Boy has LOTS of Perverted Comedy.
But then again, Kintaro will surprise Everyone in the end with his skills and knowledge. Well, Kintaro has this talent to learn things very quickly, and thus manages to solve problems and conflicts within a short period of time, and even able to bring motivation to the people around him.
I Guess, Kintaro is the "Golden Boy". At the Beginning of every episode, he looks like a silly pervert who has no qualities or brains. But by the end of Every Episode, he Proves All those First Impressions of him Wrong, & Triumphantly symbolises What a REAL Man Should Be Like... which makes the women every episode fall in love with him, but unable to locate him as he has already rode off to his next destination.
I don't exactly know how to explain this, but just Every Episode of Golden Boy leaves you feeling Good & Laughing out Loud at Kintaro's Really Perverted Comedy. & Also, Definitely Surprising you Almost Every Episode.
Well, after the first episode, you can start to be able to predict what the end outcome will be? b ut then, the question is, HOW?
& That's what Makes Golden Boy a Very interesting Watch & a Gem from 1995. =)
If you're into some light-hearted anime with some perverted comedy, Try Golden Boy out. =) But it's not recommended for those serious people who can't enjoy the light heartedness and ecchi comedy. =/

| There isn't' much to this series. I had heard alot of good things about it and frankly I wasn't satisfied. You keep thinking there is going to be more in the next episode, but the whole show is about this guy going around on his bike doing odd jobs and helping people out. Thats it. Though for some reason this isn't listed in the echi genre. Let me be clear, this is DEFINITELY echi. Even without a central story, this series does tend to relax you and is nice and light hearted. You are able to understand Kintaro by the end of the series, and he seems like a pretty cool, though I am not sure about his interesting in toilet seats....

| Honestly I really don't care about others opinions but this anime is the funniest of all from this millennium. It's only 6 short episodes and it still cracks anyone who sees it. My only wish is i'd hoped they would have made more episodes but nevertheless this still rates one of my favorite.

| Golden boy is a short 6 25 minute episodes long, extremely entertaining and enjoyable anime, as long as you don't mind the sexual references and nudity in it.
It is about a 25 year old boy (with a toilet fetish) who left Tokyo University Law School before graduating, but had already learnt all the material required to graduate. He goes on a journey to study the world, in an extremely enjoyable to watch fashion, on his trusty pink bike, with his valuable notebook (the paper one, not a laptop).
The animation is absolutely top notch for something released in 1995. The characters all look sharp and modern, and every scene is extremely well done.
Although the music is not the strong point in this anime, it definitely sets the mood, especially the opening tune, which in my opinion really conveys the general feeling of this anime.
The story is absolutely genius. The protagonist is a kind hearted somewhat perverted 25 year old with a gift for learning things extremely fast. He finds a new 'work experience' in every episode, and carries out his duties in the most hilarious of ways. Those methods at times get him into trouble, but the results he achieves with his kind and noble spirit always wins him the favour of the people he works with in the end - usually after his dismissal of work and disappearance - making the anime touching to watch at times.
The main protagonist is brilliant. The voice actor really did a great job of, in one scene giving the character a somewhat stupid and perverted personality, then changing to the true kind hearted intelligent person he really is in the next.
All the other characters only appear in one episode each, but they do seem to have rich personalities, and are developed just enough, making them memorable and interesting to watch.
It seems that all good anime are short, and this one is extremely so. There only exists a short 6 episodes of Golden Boy, and a sequel is probably never going to come out. Nevertheless, I find the anime worth rewatching as it is so extremely funny, but spending around £3 per episode does seem a bit steep, seeing that this was released more than a decade ago.
This anime has been translated in about half a dozen different languages, so it is pretty popular world wide. However, due to the occasional perverted contents and nudity, I have only seen it once during the watershed hours in Germany (in German, a language I'm not extremely familiar with yet). Still, that one episode made me want to watch the entire anime as everything seemed so comical, despite not really understanding what was going on.
Golden Boy is very fun to watch and I enjoyed nearly everything about it (I'm not a great fan of toilet fetish). It does containly have some sexual content and nudity, so make sure you are 17 years of age or over before watching this.

| Golden Boy has a very comedic approach. I would reccomend this anime to anyone that has a rude sense of humor. It's about a 25 year old who dropped out of college to become a freeter and a student of life.

| Golden Boy shapes and molds perverted humor into one of the most original anime OVA series I've seen yet! The premise is that Kintaro Oe is out on a journey to study what life is like in the real world. In each episode, he encounters different female personalities, and they all have some sort of thing against him at one point in time because he is either caught admiring and slobbering over their toilet that they sit on, or he destroys a part of their life that they hold on to. After Kintaro magically fixes each dilemma, he magically disappears... leaving a want for more.
The most interesting part of Golden Boy is how funny he acts despite how aware he is of his surroundings. The viewer initally has the same impression as each female personality because of his stupid and clumsy demeanor, despite how each episode dispels these doubts. Therefore, each episode is as refreshing as the previous when he's off on his weird journey. The only problem is that sometimes aside from the sexy female bodies, there isn't much in terms of entertainment. There certainly are a few 'ROFLMAO' moments that make me laugh on end, but most of the episode is grudgling spent building up the impression of Kintaro's stupidity. In the end, I rate this highly because this has one of the hottest realistically proportioned female drawings I've ever seen. The swimming episode when Kintaro is catching up to the women doing breaststroke is very well animated, among others.

| Like the reviewer said girls and bikes are a hot combo, but I definately learned how "hot" it can really be! It really sheds new light on all the times I went to the laundromat in my "innocent" days and saw these housewives doing their laundry--I mean "doing" has a whole new meaning for me after watching this anime;) I also can sypmathize with Kintaro's fascination with toilets--as any guy who watches this will. Bold fanservice, hence the 8 score for animation, otherwise it is average for its time. Sound was decent especially character voices, but the bgm music wasn't to my taste therefore the 7 for sound. The story was definately a plus and the same goes for the characters, who come of as good, wholesome and geniunely caring while at the same time perverted with a "wholesome" imagination. Obviously the whole point of a series like this is value and enjoyment, in this regards this kicked ass!

| Sometimes it's good to get what you expected. Golden Boy does exactly that. Actually it delivered even more than I expected. The amount of fan-service is suitable and compared to your average tv series it's a whole lot bolder. Heck, I knew that a woman and a motorbike is a hot combination but _that_ hot...
As expected of an comedy/fan-service show, the story is close to non-existant. The episodes revolve around Kintaro, who is sort of a superman. He travels with his bike and tries out different jobs. Jobs that include hot women. He masters everything in a short while and leaves all the ladies madly in love with him. Actually the series makes a clumsy attempt to draw everything together but it felt rather unnecessary. Well, we got six hot women instead of one, so maybe it was necessary after all.
No story so the success of the series depends on the characters. And they do work. Kintaro is perverted in a funny enough way and the women manage to be different enough to keep the viewer's interest. They actually have personalities compared to characters of some harem series. As Kintaro learns the new jobs he makes mistakes/gets caught doing something naughty making him soft enough. Otherwise he might have been too much of an chauvinistic better-than-these-women type of a character. Now he's this competent but fool, perverted but golden-hearted student of life.
The animation is in order making the woman look good, Kintaro funny and the action fluid. On the sound department the only problem was the voice of Kintaro. He's the same guy doing Itsuki in Initial D and as I had watched that not a long time ago I was constantly reminded of him. Kintaro is a bit different and as I thought the voice was belonging to a different personality, it made me uncomfortable from time to time.
Golden Boy is solid fan-service entertainment that's not so easy to forget.

| Kintaro Oe is a college dropout going from job to job and town to town looking for work. Ironically, the people around him don't seem to understand him until after he's left. He's won the heart of the babe only after she ordered him to go.
My only real complaint is that there weren't more episodes.

| This is epitome of perverted anime with morale to be learned. The show revolves around this character named Kentaro Oe, and naturally the marvels and gems of the show revolves around him as well. First off, I like to say that I have never heard english voice actor so destined and befitted for anyone than the man behind Kentaro Oe. He brought the light out and overeclipsed every other crappy voice actors of the show (which is practically everyone) Along with the voice, I felt that animation was appropriate for the atmosphere of the show. Author showed very smooth transition from the funny to serious persona (refer to swimming episode), and was very well juggled amongst the mood swings of the characters. Story line was almost non-existant until it tied everything together at the end. Plus it ended very skillfully, making the audience craving for more of Golden boy.
This was what really got me on the road of anime crusade, but I'm not sure if I would recommend this for everyone. It has very strange humor that requires open-and-somewhat-perverted mind to appreciate. Otherwise, I consider this second funniest show I watched, outlaughed only by Fumuffu.

| After last two titles I watched (being "GunGrave" and "Berserk") I longed for something lighter. So when I laid my hands on famed as 'nothing less than hillarious' title "Golden Boy" I began watching immediately. And I sure wasn't dissapointed.
With Kintaro Oe being led by his nose by any pretty and/or sexy lady there is, fan of GTO in me certainly was amused.
With his inside pervertedness being frequently bared, and only his golden heart being bared more often, I who was attached to Eikichi Onizuka, 'ni-jiu nisai' (22 years old) at once liked Oe Kintaro, age 25.
And with "Golden Boy" itself using the same formula which later was so succesfull in "FMP? Fumoffu!" I had even better fun than I anticipated.
Beware, however. Some of the jokes here are definitely crossing the line of good taste (toilet fetish), fan-service went definitely further than in three average ecchi titles put together (all while fitting, could You believe that?) and don't expect neither story nor the characters to be anything complex.
Enjoyment is still guaranteed.

| A very nice and funny anime. Pity it lasts six episodes only, but some episodes are really too funny. Loved some parts.
Animation and sound are okish by todays standards, but nothing too amazing, they do the job well though. Story however is nonexistant, no real plot here, just some random episodes that ed up with the last episode combining all characters.
Characters is where this anime excells at though, all charcters are well done, and you end up liking the characters a lot.
Overall this is a very enjoyable anime, which will be worth your time, its just 6 eps though, so it shouldnt erally take that long :P
