Bleach is second in popularity to Naruto and has an almost-equally massed fanbase following it. Of course, how that started I won't know, but I do know that the source the anime worked with is only slightly better than it's counterpart. Because this is a generic shounen steaming pile, a copypasta since Dragon Ball Z, an excuse of a story to show some uninteresting fights, and a whole waste of characters. Not to say it's not good: read on.

Design: What's with their neck shadows? That's the one main thing that has been bugging me so far. Character designs are mostly pretty cool, but there seems to be an enormous amount of solid blocks and big breasts floating around. Action scenes are okay at best because you just can't really tell what's going on sometimes. Looks like it's leaning towards style over substance.

Story: The arcs are pretty good, but lately (240+) it's been crap. There are now TWO save-somebody arcs (Soul Society, Hueco Mundo; WOW both worlds lol!) and in the middle are some training sessions (power levels are absurd in this manga). The concept of the shinigami worlds is pretty interesting, but it feels like an excuse to bring in some sword action (especially when plotholes occur in several flashback chapters). Shinigami's are suppose to cleanse hollows and bring pluses to the SS, not beat each other up. However, in the arcs themselves, there are some interesting subplots going on (such as the Hitsugaya/Momo/Aizen incident and overarching Aizen plot) and the way they're set up feels pretty grand. Oh, and some fights weren't even drawn - what kind of crummy shounen is this? The humor sucks, too; it's not that funny/it's almost tasteless.

Character: I can only think of three characters that are actually worth craving about: Zaraki, Hitsugaya, and Gin. Everyone else is cannot compare, are canon fodder, or are fanservice (boobs). Ichigo is one big generic shounen lead. The way the story revolves around him brings him only slightly better than average. Several character relationship networks like Rukia/Renji and Momo/that-guy-with-bent-Zanpaktou-double-weight are entertaining and has a lot of potential. Seems like character designs were meant to look cool and stay that way.

Value: Second to Naruto? Read this to see what is missing from the anime adaption. Or when it's filler season.

Enjoyment: I haven't been following the recent chapters.

I didn't read the Bleach manga until after I had finished the Soul Society Arc of the Bleach anime, and up until that point the anime and the manga follow the exact same storyline, use the same dialogue, and have the same character and design models.

While the Bleach manga is by no means finished, (it is up to Chapter 238 as of now) while the Bleach anime must resort to filler episodes about "Bounto" the Bleach manga continues the story arc of Soul Society flawlessly and is becoming more exciting with every chapter.

The design and models of the characters are all good; however it is the quality of the action scenes that really stand out to me. The sheer amount of actions scenes means that the action could have gotten redundant and repetitive, but that didn't happen with Bleach. Each action scene is unique and interesting, and the manga does a good job of conveying the battle to the reader.

The story is well done, especially for an anime of this genre which usually doesn't have the greatest storyline. The plot envolves many twists, turns, and surprises; things you thought were a certainty turn out to be false, characters you had pegged as useless turn out to be important, and characters' loyalties and abilities are always in transition. While the manga is not complete, I expect this trend to continue as the manga continues until the end of the story.

The characters are all interesting and unique; Rukia, Ichigo, Inoue, and the dozens upon dozens of other characters introduced all have their own personalities and grow and develop as the series continues. The most amazing aspect of this anime is the sheer amount of characters which are given a fair amount of page-time: there are literally almost one hundred important characters to know up to where the manga is now. However, because the backgrounds and personalities of each character are fleshed out, it doesn't get overwhelming and each character is still unique.

It is hard to place a value rating on this anime without it being finished; but I have re-read this manga many a time, and from what I can tell this is an extremely popular manga with everything going in its' favor so far.

I started reading the manga after I began the anime, and the one thing that stood out to me, was the similarity in art.

With some anime/manga, the animation/stories are so different that they might as well be different series (like FMA, for example). But Bleach isn't like that.

Basically, it's great, so read it.

Much better than the anime series. Even though you can't hear the j-musics . And there no fillers. Just read, it's enjoyment for sure, because there's story in the middle, not like dragon ball, naruto and crap stuff like that.

Read up to 248 chapters:

The first arc of the anime is essentially the exact same as the manga (minus the stupid Kon interjections and attempts at humor). Same fighting scenes, same content in dialogue, very similar art scenes, etc... in a sense this is basically the quicker way to get through bleach's awesome fights and storyline.

I'm not quite sure what else to comment on Bleach manga as the anime and manga are extremely similar up until the end of the Kuchiki-arc. In the end it all depends on your comfort level and preference in mediums (at least up to the end of the first arc). The manga essentially requires more imagination and filling in the gaps for fighting scenes, but it is much quicker to go through. (I personally prefer the manga form because I do not need to look at the anime's feeble attempt to fluidize the movements in the anime when it is obviously almost a direct copy of the manga). But if you prefer more animated, stick to anime.

Okay, the save Rukia arc just finished and we're getting more into the stuff about Ichigo's internal hollows. Now, I can safely say Bleach has taken a HUGE nose dive. The story wasn't even that original to begin with and the only thing that was kind of cool was the story settings and maybe a few characters (since they got so many, some ought to be cool).

But now, they have decided to go back to the beginning and do the same thing again. Again, Ichigo must learn some new power in some fast amount of time - and the same with everyone else. Again, someone has to be saved... again we have some bad-guy which seems unimaginable strong. We have some whole faction of Hollows which are ALL bad guys except for a handful (just like how before all the Shinigamis were bad guys, but there were a handful of good ones.) I mean, where is the originality? Not to mention, I found Inoue to be extremely annoying - especially her decision. Yuck.

Anyway, Bleach is definitely something that has run out of fresh ideas after the Kuchiki arc. Only absolute scales of power are different, and perhaps there are more people on Ichigo's side - but the basic characters are all the same - the main humans who are fighting to protect their city (which happens to be where EVERYTHING happens). Ah, oh well. Shounen manga without a point.

Bleach is not what it seems at first, much like Trigun starts out. its basically a very deep in depth story arc. the character design is as good as any animes outt here. there's a lot of depth and background on them. this help to give the story enough grunt to fall back on. there's a lot of funny scenes which keeps it on par with One Piece and naruto. as well as seriousness there's enough to make you laugh. right now its taken over Naruto for me just because of its depth with all the directions it could go.
in short, this is just the begining of something great.

Bleach is definitely an fighting-based action story on many levels, but it has more going for it than just a lot of spiffy action shots. The characters are top-notch and likeable, and the story is headed in a definite direction. There are some things that may seem to be inconsistencies at first, but on rereading the volumes you realize that they fit in with the overall story Kubo Tite is telling.

Bleach is an anime that is all about the characters and the fun factor of the series. Those who love an intracate storyline should be satisfied with this series, although the storyline does have holes in it. Lots of comedy, and as a plus the comedy does not ruin the series by going overboard, and is fairly realistic.
