Skip Beat is about a teenage girl (Kyoko) who decides impulsively to enter show biz in order to outshine her childhood friend Sho, who after becoming famous abandoned and humiliated her .

The story is full of comical situations where Kyoko's inexperience shows up, however this is masterfully complemented by serious drama.
Characters are also a strong point of this manga: Kyoko has a quite complex and captivating personality which from the beginning shows development.
I also felt from their introduction that there was more to them from most of the supporting cast, which was true later on.

The backgrounds could perhaps use some improvement , however they aren't that relevant to the story.
The characters have an excellent design, with quality face expressions, and that really improves the overall experience.

I want also to point out that although this is theoretically a shoujo manga, I feel that it's perfectly appropriate for all audiences, sinces it avoids typical shoujo clichés in my opinion.

Overall I have to say that I was very positively surprised by this manga, and the proof is that I just finished the first 4 volumes in one sitting , and still want more! Definately a must-try title in my opinion, very enjoyable read!

I love the character development. This is not just about the love love relationship, but you actually rooting for the heroine in whatever she does.

Love this manga. Super funny, the main girl is really cute and lovable. She make me laugh (thanks!). Ren is so hot and cute. Can't have enough of it. The romance between those two is going a bit slow especially if you are reading the english version which is only at book 4. The story get better ... trust me :)

Skip beat is pretty awesome. It has the same humor just like TCP (Tokyo Crazy Paradise), but the story is more....complex. I've read so far up to V.4 ch. 20, so i don't know enough of the story yet to be reviewing it. All i can say however is that, it is enjoyable. It's about the story of some girl (i forgot her name) who's out to get revenge on her childhood crush (who is now a rock star) because he had been using her all the time. For things like cleaning, cooking, maid chores, ect. Now she wants to enter the entertainment industry to beat him. So she gets a haircut, dies her hair, and has a completely almost different personality. (She used to be a sweet and kind girl, but her pandora box opened or somethin.) I find the art gorgeous, but lacking differences.
