| OK, I'm going to review this from one perspective! That of a BIG fan of Lucifer and their music ^_^
Let me start off by saying THE ANIME IS NOTHING LIKE THE MANGA! The character names are about the only similarity to the manga, so this review will be based soley on the anime and I will try my hardest not to compare the 2, as anyone who has read the manga and wants to watch the anime, should be aware the anime bares little or no resemblance to the original work!
The anime is, however, first rate and does the job of being a series about a rock band perfectly ^_^

| (Review based on some innumerable amount of episodes that made it seem like I've been watching it for forever. Or 12.)
I could understand where Kaikan Phrase garners its fairly cult-classic status among a select few anime fans. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them, and this anime struck foul with each and every chord (musical pun not intended). This poor old bag is about as fun as watching an atrociously lame band opening up for your favorite group at a concert; what with its hilariously over-the-top shoujo conventions, hilariously over-the-top bishounen character designs, and hilariously over-the-top campy drama, even a fairly hardcore shoujo fan such as myself will find them repulsed by this anime.
It's not difficult to imagine that this could only have come five years before Beck, because it possesses a lot of similar characteristics to the latter anime, only with about half of the soul. Whereas Beck seemed genuinely interested in its characters and the plot it weaves, Kaikan Phrase lazily pokes along, reveling in its shameless drama and fanservice. This anime is basically just a big bishounen music orgy for any fangirl desperate enough to watch 44 episodes of attractive animated men interact with each other in an easily slashable way. This series is just ready to inspire hilariously awkward lemon fanfiction pumped out by the droves. And when you consider the fact that each of these characters effortlessly fulfills the Manservice Pentagon of Death (stoic boy, pretty boy, generic boy, happy-go-lucky boy, and studly boy) to a fault, then it becomes painfully evident as to what this anime was shooting for.
There's no need to watch 44 episodes of this dreck. I could barely crawl through 10. Go watch Beck, Full Moon wo Sagashite or just about anything else in the Music category. You're sure to enjoy those series more than this one.

| the biggest turn off of this anime is the animation. for something that is made in 1999, they should have invested more time in drawing more frames or at least improve the art style.
im not a fan of anime that focuses on many guys and contains little of anything else, so i couldn't watch all of this... i also dont like the drama and all this stuff they try to make , while revolving it around the music which doesn't really seem to take a big part.
since i just saw beck, its natural that i should compare the two and obviously i enjoyed beck more because its more for a general audience where this is more toargets towards girls....
i didn't like the music and i didn't like their portrayal of this music society. i didn't feel any energy in any of the characters and the story... just wasn't impressive.

| This series was fine, it was one of few music shoujo that I can really get into. A lot of great characters that had some good personal traits and the whole persona of J-Rock, which I thought had some great moments that seemed give itself a certain struggle of their desire to be band in the first place. And that opening title song was significantly a great addition to the series. I guess the only thing I had with was that it felt shorter than I thought it would've been. A nice recommendation, but mostly for those who are familiar with J-Rock.

| This is one of the more orignial anime out there. First, I think everyone reading these reviews should realize that the music in Kaikan Phrase is not metal, but Its very J-popesque as in its not hard at all. anyway though this series is pretty enjoyable and addicting. Granted it gets corny at parts, its definatley not for the overly critical anime viewer. The series is just plain fun. The music is corny too but enjoyable even after youve heard it a million times i sometimes find myself singing it randomly during the day.

| Awesome anime with a good focus on the band lucifer's journey to success.
The animation is fairly good, all the characters have their own distinct look and pretty much all of them look rather smooth.
The story is very easy to understand, that's why it can reach a broader range of audience. It's a simple and addictive storyline with a good focus on drama, romance, and the band of lucifer.
The characters all have their own little story or hardship that are told throughout the anime (save for Towa.) Most of the characters are well developed, especially Sakuya and Aine.
I thoroughly enjoyed the anime and the music that the anime had to offer. I'd recommend this anime to anyone with a remote interest in drama, romance, or music.

| I started on it after I found out it is about Lucifer, although it is not about the Band Lucifer since the band is actually base on the anime, I thought it is very interesting.....
Well I think the character designs isn't the best out of Shinjo Mayu works, but pretty enough for me to watch. Maybe because I haven't read the manga, but the anime is good enough already artwise.
The music, well let's just say Lucifer's songs. I mean the band is made for this anime.
The story, I only watched the first half which I thought was very good, one of the best I've seen in an anime about music. I wouldn't know about the second half, but I must say that if it turns into a love story, i won't like it. I'll change the ratings if i have to.....
I almost took off points for the lead singers character, but then again that is what made it worth watching..
very good anime, it is well developed considering what it is. Realistic.
I really like it so far.

| From what i've seen so far, it's got enough strong points to keep us girls interested. The story's a little weak in my opinion but overall it's just good clean fun.

| This is definetely one of the better music anime out there. If you're into bishounen, this is the one for you. Good music (starts to irritate a bit to hear the same song for the 27th time, but still, not bad music), good characters.

| Great anime IF you LOVE music with no means. If you have an unlimited amount of love for music you really can't go wrong with this anime, even my brother liked it and that's saying a lot for such a 'bishounen' type anime.
