THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS PERTAINING TO THE SERIES, OVA AND THE FIRST MOVIE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

And thus it finally ends.

A journey which lasts for our protagonists over 7 years and a franchise which lasted 10 years. Just two days ago I was spitting venom of how much I hated the first KOR movie. A movie which brought misery to its characters, and will bring harsh memories whenever I will think of KOR in the future. And then this movie - a pleasant contrast from the first. Most of the movie is set in 1994 - around four years after the first movie. Most of the pain which was present in the first movie is just a bad memory for the characters now. And then the three people meet once again. And so what will become of our characters now - this is what the movie will tell.

Don't watch this until you've read the manga and/or seen the series.

Okay, so first off, it is a movie. Animation quality jumped up and it was nice to see the characters portrayed quite similarily to what I was used to, yet they were given a refresh look (as in they don't look annoyingly different). The animation isn't exactly a needed strong point for this anime.

Sound is quite plain, small details put in here and there to make it more realistic, but again not a strong point needed.

Now story wise, I was absolutely moved by this movie. Of course, I've read the manga, watched the series, and skimmed through the OVAs, and this was totally new material. Therefore, through past passions with this series, I was brought deeper into this new world that Shin KOR brought me.

Thinking back upon this movie gives me goosebumps. This is a definite must in order to get a conclusion for this anime. Not only do they play upon a lot of emotions previously shown in the series, but Kyousuke is actually more decisive in this one, which ties up a lot of character qualms I"ve had

I dont know how to really properly describe this movie without giving its many many great plot stories away, but this is the movie that lets Kimagure Orange Road end with a BANG.

A definite must see conclusion for the Kimagure Orange Road fan.

There was really no need to make another KOR movie. But the fact that they did perhaps provided a more relaxing closure than the previous, I don't know if I should be thankful or not. The original closure made an impact. This, well... mellows the dramatic end a little too much. Hikaru's change and being okay was by far the best part to have witnessed. The rest is a heartfelt reunion for HardKOR fans. And the creators did know its audience had graduated from child to adulthood, if even just physically.

This movie, which takes place about 3 & 6 years after Ano hi ni Kaeritai, is based on a KOR novel that the author wrote some time after TV finished. As far as the real purpose for this movies goes, that's up in the air, as nothing really new happens to our wonderfull 3 characters. It does, however, let us peek into the future a bit at a more mature version of them and their lives. The updated visuals look great for their older selves. One thing I was really impressed with is how they managed to mature Hikaru. No longer the whiney brat that she was in the television series and original movie, Hikaru is grown up, is at peace with everything that happened, and is doing well for herself. I might also add that she's smokin' hot =)

This is more of a treat for all the KOR fans that needed some more story after all the years. Nice finishing touch.

What a movie this is, another must for anyone who have seen the TV series. This one ties ALL the loose ends have ALL the audience expectations of the 3 main characters Kyosuke, Ayukawa and Hikaru.

It take places a few years after the first movie and the characters had a make-over with appearances, from looks and since I saw this in English dub, their voices too. Though I was reluctant to except and enjoy their new English voices, it got used to it faster than I thought, because one thing is for sure, all the characters’ personality stayed roughly the same.

This is about another of Kyosuke’s time slip, this time it’s rather big actually. I also loved the bits in this film where they showed scenes from the old TV series like when Kyosuke and Ayukawa first met on the stairs amongst others.

The quality of the music was nothing but brilliant, just like the rest of the saga (except the OVAs). Very nice theme tune which was worked into the storyline.

Overall it was great to see the characters again back in action, very nice. They didn’t let me down either, watch this if you have seen the rest of Kimagure Orange road. You won’t be disappointed.

This movie pretty much wraps up the entire series. After pretty much totally ignoring the powers of the Kasuga family in the first movie, here they come back to give us the second movie. Now, I'm not the biggest fan of time-travel type plots (because of the potential paradox arguments it spawns), but this one was ok. Had more humor than the first movie (which had none), but overall didn't affect me quite as much as that one did. Part of it was getting used to the different drawing style. Not bad, just different. Plus, previous to this movie, all the characters were like teenagers; now being presented in a young adult like fashion was kinda....different. Overall, not a bad movie, but not as impacting as the first movie. Oh yeah, this movie also seemed to drag on and on. I felt like there were about 4 points the movie could have ended, and I wouldn't have minded.

It feels really weird to watch this right after you watch movie 1. I had accepted the more painful ending of movie 1, and then I get this thrown at me. lol.

It somehow doesn't feel like the usual KOR. Yes, it's probably because everyone's grown up and they've all changed. But it's just got a different feel to it, y'know?

Now this displaying what everyone's like 3 years into the future, it kind of makes it more like an ending to the KOR series than the first movie. I guess it's kind of nice, since this way the series doesn't really end on a sour note.

The movie itself is pretty good. The animation is far better than in any of the previous KOR works, and everything else is great. This movie also has a lot of humor to it. That conversation between Kyosuke and Kyosuke was priceless.

Basically, if you're a fan of KOR then you've gotta watch this, especially if you were a little disturbed at how movie 1 ended the series.

Great to see all the characters back and all grown up.

But this is by all mean fan service for people who were pissed off about how the 1st movie ended.

By itself, this movie is well done and a good story that newbies can learn to love.

As another chapter in the KOR series, bring Hiraku back is a bit of a stretch (wishful thinking by fans). It's nice to see they are all back as friends and K&A's relationship is now accepted. But it's just not very realistic.

But still, it's a good movie for everyone to check out and I know KOR fans will watch it no matter what I say here anyway :).

This is the best ending I have seen in an anime so far. And trust me I have seen a lot. You can look at my anime list to find out just how many. Anyway this was just a great anime Good animation because it is more recent than the TV series. 10 years newer.

I really loved this series. The anime is quite old now since it came out in the late 1980's but it is still a one of a kind. If you watch all the episodes, OVA's and the 2 movies then it is a perfect series. It has a great ending which I think was the best ending I have ever seen in a series so far. Just perfect. Anyway I highly recomend this series.

Just like the first movie, 'I want to return to that day', this one deepens the characters even more. It's a must-see for anyone who has seen KOR. If you haven't, shame on you! It's a very nice ending to the series. I enjoyed it very much, but I don't want it to end!

definately end of KOR, after so many years, we must say goodbye to our childhood friends which we know so much... although there is definately a happy ending i'm sad that there'll be no more KOR, no more madoka playing, hikaru laughing, and kyosuke "screwing a big again"...

movie is excellent, what happened to them when they grew up... what they're doing now, this is so much packed with sentiments and nostalgia that probably fans who enjoyed and watched KOR tv series 16 years ago'll be moved to tears, just like i'm

Don't be fooled by the 'new' in the title, this is no Gen-X remake--it's a very solid conclusion to the Kimagure Orange Road story.

This movie is designed to cheer up all KOR fans a bit after crying for what has happened in the 1st movie.
This movie is not really about happiness, rather its like a bitter coffee. All the happinesses and the sadnesses the three experienced has faded into some memory that will be forever cherished yet cant be repeated or retrieved. A new Hikaru, and a new Kyosuke and a new Madoka stand in front of all KOR fans and they do freshly seem to be a lot more mature. This movie is mixed with a lot emotions and a lot actions( exper stuff) and some comedy elements. It gives complex feelings to audience, and it is even more enjoyable and mind-provoking if linking this movie and the former one and the tv epis together. I'd like to consider this one as a real conclusion to KOR, and good luck to all the three main characters, especially Ayukawa Madoka.
In the end, CONGRATS TO KASUGA KYOSUKE FOR FINALLY ACHIEVING THAT THING WITH AYUKAWA MADOKA.

Absolutely great. I can't describe how happy I was when I saw the come back of one of my favorite anime heroes.
They gain a lots of maturity and the anime staff has changed but the taste of the orange road is still the same, or even better.
Besides, the plot is excellent. I won't tell more because it would be criminal to spoil.

PS : you must have seen KOR tv and the first movie if you want to fully appreciate this movie.

Thanks for reminding me of "Kyoksuke No 1". I went back and dug up the cd to listen to this! ;)

The movie that ends the previous movie! :p

Anyways, this movie is pretty well done, although I still liked the novel better. I love the new character look, it definately did justice to their boring and whimsical look from the OVAs and TV series. :)
