So I've been going on a Rampage looking for good Love,Comedy, Echii, Harem Anime. So I came around this one yesterday and watched the whole first season. I didn't have high expectation from it, but I gave it a shot. It turns out its not that bad. It does leave you with a lot unanswer questions.

The Animation was OK. I didn't have anything against it. I love how they draw Misato's doggie(so cute). The only thing I didn't like was Misato's hairsyle. That's about it. =P

The sound was OK too. There was nothing special about it. There was hardly any song during the anime. There probably was, but I didn't pay too much attention to it. The OP and ED were OK as well.

The story was kinda interresting, but they leave you with a lot of quesitons. There's some plot hole which they don't bother to fill up. The story is about an Android who killed Misato's Father (because she has to...wacth the anime) ends up retiring. Why? Because she used too much life energy while fighting. If she keeps fighting she'll die rather quickly, however, if she stopped fighting she could last around 360(?) days. She ends up requesting being Misato's Maid to pay for what she's done. I won't spoil it more to everyone. The story is cute and funny. The love fight between Mahoro and Misato's teacher are always fun. :D

I enjoyed the anime very much. I think it's a little too short. Of course this is only season 1. Hopefully season 2 will be a lot better. I've seen the reviews and I don't like what I've read so far. ~_~ Hopefully it will turn out to be good.

Given its rather cliché filled premise, Mahoromatic is actually quite charming. However, the occasional over reliance on gags stands in the way of making this anymore than a passable effort.

Mahoromatic is a fun battle-maid ecchi anime fit for anyone who enjoys the maid fetish in combination with the battle side of things.

Nothing spectacular in terms of story nor characters: it's a typical 12-episode anime with some (common) short stories, a (underdeveloped) cast of (boring) characters, and a good-vs-evil plot. What makes this watchable is the main maid Mahoro, whose special charming personality creates a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy watching this instead of pulling your hair out for wasting your time. She's cool and cute, and is probably the main reason why you're here checking out these reviews. Mahoromatic's not a blast, but Mahoro will surely make a job of you that will.

what is mahoromatic. is it a parody. is it an own story. i simply dont know. i enjoyed it in some ways but never really got sucked into the whole plot. the details are following.

ANIMATION

the usual quality from this kind of anime. it is routinely done but can never really convince me. it is average like mahoromatic in the whole. first of all the character designs were pretty poor. they paid to much attention to draw the perfect breasts. that stuff was very well done though i didnt really think it was necessary. 5 points for the animation because there is not much change in the characters face according to the situation. when they are sad they have the same expression on their face.

SOUND

the opening song was really good. it suited the mood of mahoromatic. the ending song was awfully bad. what did they think while deciding on this one. the sub was quite good but somtimes it was not synchron to the drawn characters. 6 points for the sound because i liked the opening song and the fight were accompanied by a good sound.

STORY AND CHARACTER

like i already mentioned i am half and half on the story. on one hand i see mahoromatic as a parody with many funny moments. it has every part of very popular anime in it. like the fights against these andriods that remind me of evangelion. especially the weapon she use to fight was originally from evangelion. there are many other examples like the love of the etacher to her student. that is the dream of the makers that must be MAN. i dont think a woman would do this kind of anime.
mahoromatic focuses on mahoro. she is an android that ceases to work in about 380 days. she was created by an organization called vesper for fighting but now as her life comes to an end she is set off duty to live a normal life on the side of suguru. he is the son of the once leader of vesper. but his dad was killed by mahoro. she never tells him that and they get into a deep relationship. mahoro is the usual female anime character. she can cook and does the whole work in the house. he is very untidy and clumsy. they have many friends that come by ocassionally but never really develop. the only character that tries to think is mahoro and she is an andriod. suguru stay as he was in the beginning. mahormatic must have likeable characters otherwise there is no way to stand out from others. and that is my main criticism. they tried to mix parody with an own story and that just dont work. the story has no time to develop and the parodical parts are just not as funny and good as it could have been. 5 points for story and characters because the story is underdeveloped and the characters are simple minded and superficial beings.

VALUE

i gave 4 points because there was some thinking included. mahoro really is thoughtful in the end and that was the best part about it. and it was not dumb thinking.

ENJOYMENT

i would have liked mahoromatic better if it would have followed the parodical beginning. the sad story and music in the last eps were kinda sad and ridiculous. for everyone who wants to have an easy anime without much depth.

Mahoromatic is a ecchi comedy about a combat android named Mahoro who decides to spend her limited lifespan as a live -in maid to a middle school boy named Suguru Misato.
The animation and sound are not spectactular, but get the job done. This series is fun because; though it may not be the best harem, ecchi, or action anime' it combines these elements well. There is alot of "unimportant" episodes and repeat humor, but if you want a feel-good anime' that's easy to watch then I would recomend this series.

Mahoromatic is a fun series, and though it lacks much depth, it is definately amusing.

The animation is not too spectacular, but I think that is a stylistic choice: the animation was cartoony and reactions overblown during comedic scenes, while during the more serious scenes and battle scenes the animation was much more detailed. Thus, while the animation definately wasn't the best, it fit pretty well with the mood during the series.

The sound was ok, I didn't notice much wrong with anything. Of course, the teacher's voice got kind of annoying, but that might have been because of her personality instead of any sound problems. I also thought the ending song the "Mahoro Mambo" was pretty funny. Overall, nothing spectacular in the sound department from this series.

The story is a failing in this series: we are left with many questions at the end of this series because of the lack of background information given. Also, the first 9-10 episodes don't really have a plot at all, except for utilizing various situations to bring Mahoro and Suguru closer together.

The main character Mahoro was the only truly devloped character who experienced growth in the series; all the other characters, including Suguru, are the same people at the end that they were at the beggining. Also, side characters like the lecherous teacher were overused and all of them seemed to lack depth and purpose besides being material for jokes in the series. The only interesting character besides Mahoro was really the villian, Ryuga.

While I do like the idea of an android warrior spending her final days as a maid and find it very unique and intriguing, it seems to me that this genre of anime has been done better before. I would reccomend Onegai Teacher for a similar genre of anime before I would reccomend Mahoromatic.

I enjoyed this anime, but it was more of a "Ah, that was amusing" than a "Wow! That was awesome!" type feeling.

Characters looked great, background lacked detail, and there wasn't a lot of spectacular effects. I didn't have any problems with the animation, but it does look a little bit aged, or not as great a quality.

Opening song was pleasant, but wasn't anything exciting. The style and tone goes with the plot of the anime. The ending song was very childish and didn't fit into the anime. There wasn't a lot of sound effects, or at least anything splendid. Music is mostly of the calm and pleasant type, and can be easily missed. It does play into the feel of the anime well.

The story is basically about a cute android, Mahoro, who lives with the main character, Suguru, and their daily lives. There's the annoying horny teacher that always causes trouble for Mahoro and Suguru. Later in the series, Mahoro's past is slowly revealed and she gets to fight an old rival. Nothing truly special or unique happens that separates this from the rest of the animes. Also, I noticed Mahoromatic resembled Chobits and DearS.

The only character I saw who developed was Mahoro. By the end of the series, she realizes she wants to be with Suguru. She goes from a reserved maid to a more relaxed girl. For Suguru, very little is known about the way he thinks or his perspective on his past. In other words, I only got to watch what he does, only seeing "on the surface" stuff. Characters in this anime were used the same way, for plain entertainment purposes. Not much is known about the characters.

Mahoromatic was a nice anime to watch. I enjoyed watching their lives past by. There was little serious thinking involved. This anime had a lot of senseless ecchi (especially nudity), and thus this series would be great for ecchi lovers. The comedy gave Mahoromatic a nice feel overall. I would recommend this if you have some spare time to waste.

Mahoromatic is about a female fighting robot that is near the end of her life cycle. She chooses to live out the rest of her days as a maid. She is assigned to Suguru Misato, a young man who is the son of a general in VESPER, Mahoro's creators. Mahoro was indirectly responsible for the death of Suguru's father.

The story started out pretty good. About an andriod living out the rest of her days, and making the most of it. However, as the plot progresses, it doesn't really seem to be getting anywhere at all.

The comedy scenes were good, but overused. Esp. the ones about boobs. The character development didn't live up to expectations. Except for those involving Maharo and Suguru.

The OP/ED's were not very melodious. It sounded pretty overdramatic in a sense.

One thing I felt lacking alot was the 'action' scenes. Ones which were suppose to get your andrenaline pumping and wanting for more, only left me feeling drained and wanting to get over and done with this anime. Though animation isn't top-notch, it was ok watching it.

How this anime could be in the Top 200, I don't really know, overated is how I feel about this one. (To each his own I guess)

It also seemed that the abrupt ending was just an excuse for season 2.

Here is a story that takes sci-fi, makes it ecchi, throws in some fetish fan service, gives you a loose plot that dangles until the end then pulls tightly together. This is a decent show. Not one of my favorites but I did enjoy watching it. Read on for why I think you will like this story.

The animation is clean and colorful. Not overly detailed and, in the first season, there are few still shots overal. Some room for improvement but the ecchi scenes leave little to the imagination.

The sound is quite good. The sound imagery matches the action and ambience of the story as it unfolds. The Music, on the other hand, is unremarkable and in my feelings, annoying. Skip through the opening and endings, they don't help this anime in the least.

The story is deceiving at first. You think it is going to be an all ecchi show with lots of fan service - there is, however, an underlying plot beyond the fan service and character development. I found the story catching my attention about two thirds into the series and making up for all the mindless fanservice.

The characters are dynamic and changing. I found myself empathizing with the protaganist and wondering how things would change further. The charaters are enjoyably rememberable.

I would pay money for this series and hope that you do. The value of this series is worth paying for the DVD.

As the H-demon inside me laughs and taunts me with ecchi thoughts, this story was enjoyable for the fan service alone. Behold - A proper melding of Ecchi fanservice, plot and character development make this story very enjoyable. This series would be rated NC-17 by American Standards for nudity, adult situations... However, strangely enough, the main characters are only middle school students. Wonderful!

"In real life, common sense says it's unlikely for a nerdy guy to be surrounded by good looking girls."
"That's reality~!"
"But you came along and said, 'let's take a born loser and have girls fall in love with him because he's a nice guy.'"
"He won't finish last~!"
"Is it believable?"
"No~!"
- Real Otaku Heroes

And so... another harem anime. You have all the standard stuff... girls like guy, guy is good-for-nothing, plenty of ecchi and abrupt story development. This genre has really gotten to the point where people expect the girls to fall for the guy, and when it does happen for absolutely no reason, nobody bothers to think twice about it.

As for the specifics, I'll start with the bad parts for a change.

First and foremost, this anime can almost be a dictionary definition for shallowness. No matter where you turn, lack of depth is immediately evident. Aliens attacking? Who? Why? Forget it. Secret organization? How'd it get established? By who? Why? Too much trouble. How did Mahoro get created? Why aren't there more? Why is she going to die soon? WTF stop asking questions you stupid viewer!

Why they even bothered with a story in the first place is beyond me. What little information given is crudely revealed during narrative spiel-athons.

In fact, during the earlier half a nice chunk of stuff happens because of Mahoro's past. But that past is skimmed over so briefly it makes cliff notes look like novels. What's the result? Sense of shallowness.

Even the message at the end of the show is utterly rediculous. They might as well have said "Feel sorry for our main characters now!" instead.

Bottom line: too much is happening but none of it is adequately explained. This is a problem because most of the events occur from the perspective of Mahoro but the viewers don't know what she knows.

However, while the story might've been fit for a picture book, the comedy isn't nearly as bad. The animation has quite a few manga-elements which worked pretty well (and also reduced animation cost I'm sure). And the jokes are reasonably funny. Luckily, said comedy manages to occupy a large portion of this anime, which serves to slightly dampen the effects of a D-movie plot.

Support characters are also up-to-par in the comedy department.

Overall, a comical but unintelligent and poorly-executed anime.

wow, i cant belive how good mahoromatic is. its just so full of all the good stuff that makes anime great. the animation was at times extreamly good or a little cheap, but otherwise awesome. the opening and ending song's/video's were really good and addicting, i never once wanted to skip them. the story was great and very well writen, nothing was really left unexplained. as for the characters, mahoro is deffinately an original. shes cute, confident, loyal and intelligent, every man's dream. suguru is alright but he reminded me alot of keitaro from love hina. overall, if you liked anime's like chobits, midori no hibi and ai yori aoshi, deffinately buy mahoromatic. this anime is pure quality.

This is a very sweet series. I don't think the various states of undress some of the female characters undertake ruins the series - so that's out of the way now.

Mahoro is one of the most endearing, if not *the* most endearing character I have ever watched in an anime series. The story is relatively innovate in that an android, given the chance to live her remaining days out as a civilian would choose to become a maid and work for the child of her former boss.

The animation is only ok, and looks a little below the standards of when this came out(2001). The sound isn't overwhelming, but I think the themesong is very well done and the ending theme is awesome in it's own way. I enjoyed the chibi choreography quite a bit with Mahoro popping in "I think perverse thoughts are bad" waving her finger.

Story wise, it's pretty light but the main thing that saves it is the fact you get a jarring shot of reality at the end of every episode in that mahoro's steadily decreasing lifespan is noted.

Overall I enjoyed this series, and it's one of the few anime that actually made me sad without being overly EMO and whiny (see AIR, Saikano). Mahoro is just that sweet of a character and I don't like the prospect of her exploding at the end of season 2 (I assume, I haven't finished it yet)

It is very hard to rate this anime excluding the second season of this show, but I shall try.

We all know that there are tons of shounen anime with no characters, no story, no plot, no nothing, but LOTS OF ECCHI. It's almost tragic that most shounen anime seems to be like that. Fortunately for serious shounen anime fans theres anime like Mahoromatic to keep things hopeful. This anime is not one of your everyday eye candy but legit attempt at storyline, deep character, themes, symbolisms, and romance.

The most appealling aspects of this anime i found to be are the eccentric cast of characters that never gets boring. From Android Mahoro who is disturbed by her past (and also have small breast complex) to Shikijou sensei who dreams of breast feeding Suguru, the cast is diverse and fun. Even the filler episodes are enjoyable due to the hillarity that spurs out of this cast.

I found music is excellent in this series from the mellow opening song to jumpy ending song, there isn't a single music that fails to complement this anime. Sound effects are also exquisite in this anime. I couldn't help myself crack up everytime i heard "OH YEA~!!" as Shikijou sensei went hentai on Suguru.

Story also i thought was very original thinking that this was a shounen anime. The setting and the alien maid set up isn't the most original but the premise is. Mahoro does not have much time left and she dedicates herself to living her life for others and for herself instead of being a warrior. With this premise comes deep thoughts and questions that allow us to contemplate. This element makes this anime more than unique. Contemplation in shounen anime is indeed rare these days.

The bad things start from animation

The animation i felt was inadequate thinking that this anime was made in 2001. The color was not clear, animation was not crisp, and lacked fluidity in action.

I thought that since this anime have very little action, that the maker would make it spectacular but that wasn't the cast. Action was not all that exciting. The last fight was decent but that was about it.

The filler also harmed this animes pacing quite a bit. though i enjoyed many funny filler episodes almost half of the anime was basically filler. But this wasn't a major probalem since all the fillers were hillarious.

I also thought the ecchi went over the top in some of the scenes, but i guess this is totally upto personal preference. I do enjoy ecchi but i believe that there should be fine line where ecchi should stop.

and now considering that this is only the first season don't be disappointed by the inconlusive ending and all the things that are not explained. They will be explained in more detail.

I enjoyed this anime with all my heart. This anime is unique among the shounen genre and it is a standout. Watch this anime if you wanna watch serious shounen anime with lots of laugh and lots of ecchi. 1st and 2nd season of Mahoromatic is among the best shounen anime i've watched along with Midori no Hibi, Love Hina, and Chobits and it deserves to be.

I have to say there is A LOT of eechi parts in this anime. It is like you can't leave without seen women breats or something. The animation is pretty good (specially when drawing the naked parts!!) They at least make it draw less breats scenes. The sound is not bad, no annoying voices and the openning and closing songs are alright.

The story is about Mahoro, who is a android warrior wishes to live her last few days for Suguru, who she feels guildty for killing his father. She gets to learn what living a normal live means. The characters are really well developed, from the main character and the comedy releave characters.

Overall, i enjoyed watching this anime a lot because it was funny fast pasted.

I was surprised to see nudity in this one. But that soon faded away because it is just like nudity in ranma, its not there for erotic purposes, at least I don't think so.

I mean there are sexual themes like that obsessive teacher who you just can't get frustrated enough at, and the whole comparing of the chests.

I really liked the basis of this story. Too bad she is an android or else it could have been more emotional but the idea of a once super battle android turned someone's maid although may seem like an someone's obsessive fetish , is actually made into a sweet, low-key, and enjoyable anime

There are some interesting characters that are pulled out because of Mahoro's past but her her personality is fun and makes this anime enjoyable. As for the guy, I don't remember that fool at all haha.

A very unique series in its own way. It incorperates current day view with a fictional hitch, giving a very enjoyable semi-real experience. The idea of a Combat Android retiring and becoming a maid, trying to live an ordinary life with what time she has remaining. The relationships she makes, the experiences she has and everything in between, makes out to be an Anime well worth the watch.

I felt many times during this show that this anime is made especially for me.
What makes me think this series is so special? So innocent comedy, and then, after every episode, you see how many days are left for Mahoro, main character. I have always been afraid of dying, so anime that is about that naturally awakens more feelings than something you don't care about. Funny thing here is that we're talking about ecchi series here.

Then there are fights :o
I don't understand people who say that they would like to remove fighting parts from Mahoromatic. I liked this series, thanks to the fact that those happy times were all unique, and every time you watched how Mahoro was having fun with friends, you were bit afraid that someone would come and destroy it all. I liked the way how Mahoromatic puts it: Every moment is precious, and that is much what Mahoromatic is about, for me atleast.

Also, I think Mahoro is cutest anime character ever ^^

This is definatly one of my top5 comedy anime series, really well developed story and characters to die for and really gets you attached to them. The plot in my opinion was original and well done. The sound was tasteful and the series as a whole was a joy to watch. Recommended to anyone who enjoyed Chobits, Love hina, DearS.. This series is ecchi, and be sure to have in hand season 2 for the entire plot goes through the 2 seasons.

Hmmm.. an echi-filled, comedy anime series which is actually good? If its anything like Mahoromatic, more please!

Mahoromatic is a nice little anime, generally heart-warming, entertaining and ghas a little of everythign for everyone.
When it is funny, it's funny (with fan-service), when it is action, its action-packed (with fan-service). This anime is great for those who wish to unwind a bit, take the anime watching flow slowly and will keep you entertained for a good 12 episodes.

Unfortunately for Mahoromatic, that is really what it is built for, for entertainment purposes and thoguh the anime tries to add in a story (which is adequate at best), it also adds in drama which is really good in some respects. Mahoromatic tries with a solid story, but backfires, however, this doesn't make the anime that bad, its primary purpose was to provide entertainment (with fan-service) and it does exceedingly well in most parts.

Great little anime, with good animation and characters to boot! Not really anythign more to say, if you want an entertaining anime, Mahoromatic is good at that, want anything more then maybe this isn't exactly what you are looking for.

Overall: 7.5/10
Grade: B
