Think Star wars, then imagine Luke Skywalker to be a immensely strong but retarded kid who only cares about food, big boobs and keeping promises. Imagine Darth Vader is a pervert in striped underwear. The stormtroopers are cute and optimistic cheerleader blobs of lard. And Princess Leia actually looks good...

Then add a couple of other stuff, and you got Photon! A hilariously funny and still epic story set in some kind of fantasy future.

Photon is a very silly, very gross-out ecchi anime, with a cast of very stupid characters.
If you want something a little different from the average ecchi comedy, give it a go - just don't expect too much ^__^

Photon is a silly little show. It has exactly things speaking for itself: ecchi and humor. The story is about a galactic empire that uses some kind of "aho" as a power source. It enables them to use magic-like powers. There's also some internal conflict as the inventor of this power is betrayed and he hides an "aho-furnace", a machine that controls aho. With that you can basically become the ruler of the universe. This machine happens to recide on Earth, a back-water planet of the universe. And thus an interesting cast concentrates on the planet.

On Earth there are couple of kids who have special relationship to this machine even though they don't know it themselves. Photon is a young boy who is the focal point for anti-aho making him very powerful and immune to aho attacks. He was a bit too childish for me to enjoy. He talks with incomplete language and sounds like an infant. He isn't too funny either, he's either hungry or fighting all the time. Despite this every woman on the show falls for him. His sister on the other hand can use aho to stop time. This usually happens under extreme stress, unintentionally and it affects herself too so Photon has to come wake her for time to flow again. Again a not too interesting character who has really little to do during the whole series. I expected her to do something in the last climax but no, her powers aren't used much. When Keyne, the grand-daughter of the aho inventor, crashlands on Earth everything starts to roll. She's a bit more funny than the previous characters. Unintentionally Photon marries her in a strange ceremony and her attempts at being a good wife are a source of some laughs. Who is the true source of laughter is the idiot lord of the galactic empire Papacharino who comes to hunt previously mentioned aho-furnace and grand-daughter. He is so full of himself that when he meets Photon and gets sorely beaten time after time, it's bound to be hilarious. In addition he has a collection of identical servants who he abuses and who happily fulfill his every wish. Rather cruel but funny anyway. There are also the galactic emperor who is crazy enough to win any prize on mad, distorted faces and the galactic princess blindly in love with Papacharino. All the characters work quite well together but they could be funnier. Now most of the humor comes from the idiot lord.

The story isn't any special. Although this only a 6 episode series, the actual story happens mostly in the two last episode. The first ones are mainly wandering around and having fun. When the story unravels, it also throws some very maniac twists. All the sense is forgotten when secret after secret is revealed and massive battle begins. They pack a lot of emotion in the end but it didn't really reach me. The show isn't serious enough for that. What reached me was the gratious amount of bare skin. If there's even a small change that someone loses her clothes, it will happen. It somehow spices up otherwise a little dull show. Animation is fluid enough but character desings aren't most appealing on today's standard. Good enough for the fan service to have an effect anyway. I don't have anything to say about the music, nothing memorable there. But I do hate Photon's voice. It's supposed to be adorable but only induces annoyance.

Photon is far from anything remarkable. Good for some ecchi fun but isn't really glorious in that department either.

Photon is about a young man living on "the Sandy Planet" (Earth) The anime seems to be somethingof a parody of The Fist of the North Star somewhat. Photon is sent to rescue his friend (NOT sister as some have said) named Aun. She writes the word baka on him while he's sleeping. Then he encounters Keyne, a hot babe rebel that has crashed on the planet. Because he writes baka on her forehead, she thinks that they have married. She wants to find the aho generator and take control of it. Wanting the aho generator for himself is Count Papacharino, a pompous man with 18 wives already and trying to make the galaxy princess his 19th wife. Helping him out are the various Pochis.
What I think many reviewers are missing is this: Aho means "mentally retarted idiot" or "foolish." Baka is more of a clueless idiot; the person should know better, but does not.
All the cast seems to be the baka idiot.
I'm not sure why this wasn't classified as ecchi; there is a LOT of nudity (if memory serves, only Pochi and the emporer don't get naked,) and some private-places groping in it.

Definitely one of the most underrated animes of all time. Also one of the funniest. I never knew Japanese were so good at being funny! At first I thought only Americans were good at making good comedy animations, but Photon really proves me wrong, badly. What sets this apart from other comedies, especially Futurama, is that it follows a serious plot that’s surprisingly not half as bad as it seems in the beginning. And yet it’s still gut bursting hilarious.

So what or who exactly is Photon? Photon is a super strong adult who has every attribute of a child. His eyes are adorable, his personality is rather timid, and his physical features (even downstairs) is small. Though when he was ordered to retrieve his sister Aun from chasing some dream boy, he accidentally encountered Kyne, a space renegade that crash-landed on earth some time ago. She’s searching for some aho generator that seems to be important. However, Papachariino is also after that same object and races against Photon and Kyne in order to capture it.

All of the episodes are funny, even the last one that’s suppose to smush the story all in a 40 minute special. Papachariino and his Poochi servants combine to make a hilarious combo that will have you rolling on several occasions. Fans of Family Guy might notice that some of the comedic elements are rather familiar here in how the fast paced actions make an average funny scene into a hilarious one. Plus the characters are so incredibly stupid, they’re funny. Seeing Aun and Kyne constantly fight over the sizes of their breasts is rather amusing. Photon, while rarely talking, also has his moments of comedic glory.

However, the last episode, which is as mentioned before, 40 minutes long, kind of ruins the momentum and flow of the entire series. All of a sudden, all these characters are introduced, and a 20 minute long history of what has happened prior to the first episode occurs. The next 20 minutes, which was better off as episode 7, is all serious fighting that wasn’t meant to be funny. Sometimes you’re wondering, am I watching the same thing here? What the frick is going on?

Still nonetheless an excellent series. It could have been better if they balanced it out a little bit. Everything else is fine, especially the animation and sounds. Photon has a really sophisticated model that’s incomparable to any current ones (unless someone tried so hard to be a copycat). Aun’s haircut is also rather unique that’s even more impossible to imitate in real life than trying to get Goku’s hair when Super Saiyan 3. The music, while not noticeably ear dwelling like most RPG’s, is still enough to satisfy. The voice acting, for the dub at least, is rather impressive.

Photon: The Idiot Adventures can be labeled as the Family Guy of Japan. But why that isn’t possible is because it’s only six episodes long, the story is way too serious, and it’s not nearly as popular as Family Guy. Still, it does a good job of making me laugh, and that’s good enough. Fans of American comedy cartoons will definitely love Photon. Oh yeah, I’d suggest watching the dub.

Photon tries to be something like galaxy angels with a good story, good characters, but with animation that seems came from the 70s/80's. Animation is the first that will make people hook for this anime, and it really is very very bad. This anime is not for everyone, it has frontal nudity. It offers few laughs, but few and far in between. A comedy something like Shin Chan but slightly worse as few comedy scenes takes too long to execute. Its a lot like Forest Gump in a lots of ways.

I didn’t seem to like this one as much as I thought, I always thought the idea of the story was too dull and slow-paced in many occasions. What kind of a let down for me on this one was the main character, who just constantly complains about his hunger that was funny at first. But then just became more bothersome during the whole story that makes you want to just yell at this guy and tell him to beat up the bad guy or whatever he needed to do. I can hardly see this as even a good parody, as they were so trying in their life to be one in the first place. The other characters were great though. I really think that they could’ve done a better job on this.

This is actually pretty good fun. as parody animes go, this is a gem. It could've have done with better animation and a few better songs, but as far as the story and characters go, it's parody gold. Baka as marriage crests, anti-Aho magic, weird-as monkey creatures, a nutjob villain and a real basketcase assortment of heroes....ah, sublime.

Keyne is a real highlight, regardless of whether she was clothed at the time in question or not. :) Ever the eager beaver to please little Photon and sporting a lot of attitude and the cat-girl look, can't go wrong there. The Pochis are bloody hilarious, that green-haired villain is a riot, and Photon's simple minded ways make for even more piss-takes.

I quite enjoyed this. It certainyl was the inspiration of parody aniems like Excel Saga. Fortunately, Photon is better than all of them. Especially Excel Saga. Hec, even Photon was drawn better than Excel Saga!

BAAAAAA KAAAAAA~~~~

Comedy at times.. good things it only have 6 oav otherwise this would suck more. The ecchi part are good, atletast I like it. Touching story comes and goes, usually mixed with stupid shit comedy but it really matter since they laughing like a maniac through out the ep.

Try a couple min. with this series, if you think it hit the laughing cord in you, then watch the whole thing, but if you think it too stupid-useless-picece-of-shit type then trash it. Give it a try :)

Photon is a short anime, with a so-so story. It starts off really slow so patience is required. If you continue to watch it turns out to be a decent show. To find out more read my review.

At first I thought I stumbled upon some lame Tenchi Muyo OVA. After about fifteen minutes I realized I was wrong.

Photon features some very nice animation and an interesting array of characters. The story takes place over a fast moving six episode comedic romp. Though the story telling and comedy tends to fizzle by episode four. Despite all that the animation holds solid and the character designs never cease to bore. While there isnt much of a story, despite a few nonsensical twists of plot, that in no way hinders the anime. The actualy OVAs last roughly 30 minutes (48 for the finale) and at 6 episodes, Photon isn't around long enough to enter the realm of boredom. Photon makes for a good watch at least one.

its a very funny anime ... there is a story not an hard one. so in short terms 6 eps of fun fun and more fun.

Animation:

i cant really say that the animation are great ... therefor a 5 its not the strenght of the anime so no complains here

Sound:

its prolly ment as a low budget serie wich was ment for little kids / or drunk people (me!) who like to see a fun anime and aren't too picky about the quality of sound nor Animations

Story:

there hardly is any story. but i just had to give this an 8 because else the overall would get too low for my liking

Characters:

there not many characters and those who are there aren't really detailed aswell, there times they even forgot to add the signs on the head of the alien raced vistors. (like the sign "stupid" on her head) still there fun to watch to very standard figures with a flare of stupidity makes if much fun to watch

Value:

i now watched it 3 times once with a group of over 10 people, then with a friend and the last time with a girl who really enjoyed it (wich i rearly do showing girls my anime as they dont like it anyway "its childish") so without doubt the value is a 10

enjoyment:

it was fun to watch. very funny. no other words to describe after 3 times seeing it i still find it funny the jokes stay funny even they are easy to get and predictble but hee :) its funny

Very good and funny anime. I really laughed my ass off while watching it. I am aware of the fact that it is not an anime that suits everyone but if you like slapstick and totally brainless characters you must see it!
Yes, there's nudity...so what? I don't understand why people complain about nudity. As long as an anime is funny, interesting, has a good story etc. I don't care if there's nudity or not.

By the way, Tenchi Muyou! ROCKS!!!!!

I was abit wary when my friend (a known hentai/porn aficionado) introduced to me this OVA fansubbed by a hentai group, but it proved to be an astute piece of recommending by my friend after all.

There is nudity, but I hardly noticed it because I was laughing too hard. I didn't particularly enjoy Tenchi Muyo, but I think this OVA carves a niche of its own and should be viewed as such. The humour is wacky and fast-paced, the cast of characters colourful and silly in their own ways (especially that papachump fellow ^^). Recommended for your laughing/viewing pleasure, just bear with the nudity if it offends you.

Lighted hearted comedy that is well worth a watch. Had me laughing most of the time at the antics and misfortune that Photon endures at the ends of Aun.
Papachariino is the cliche bad guy that is very the top but he fits well into the scheme of this type of anime.

Photon is the likeable hero with superhuman strength & all the female cast falling for him.

The storyline might not be its strength, but the overall funny parts & great characters give this anime the thumbs up.

Retarded. Hilarious. If you can get through an episode without cracking a smile at least once...well, I wouldn't want to be friends with you, that's for sure. They cram a surprising amount of story into the 6 episodes, and it all meshes together nicely as long as you remember its all just a backdrop for the characters to all act like idiots. Not the greatest anime ever made, or even close, but I appreciate an anime that's just there to make you laugh.

There's a surprising amount of nudity in here for an anime made in 1997, but I guess that's attributable to it being an OVA without a TV counterpart. Or something. Though I suppose you could attribute it to being part of the humor at times.

I found Photon to be quite fun to watch. Photon has to go after this evil bitch, that's in love with this singing idol, and along the way he meets with this chick that was from outer space(the space battle in the beginning remind me A LOT of Tenchi spaceships and outfits). He puts "Baka" on her forehead(he also has "Baka" on his forehead too and her customs says if a man put's his symbol on her forehead their married). And then their's a holy marker, a half-naked(thank god censored) bad guy, little midget servents, and a wannabe Tenchi empire. For 6 episodes it was actually entertaining, even though the plot was stupid(Humor type anime usually suffers in the plot area).

This anime is amazing. So damn funny lol. Photon is one of the best characters I've ever seen and Keyne is the hottest anime chick since botan (yu yu hakusho) or Beldandi (oh my godess). Aun gets REALLY annoying and there are some unbearable parts because of her, but overall this anime is the funniest Ive ever seen with a really good original idea.
