| I'm not quite sure why this is called a movie as it was more like 4 episodes from the TV series. The animation was not better (infact worse in some ways), the storyline took nearly an hour to get going, but the ending was extremely good.
Worth watching if you've seen the TV series, otherwise your first viewing will be impaired by not knowing the gist of it all (I know my first viewing 5 years ago was!).

| Samurai X as it is more widely known didnt interest me that much from the beginning. Perhaps as it happens with many animes I hadnt a good introduction to it, having watched just some random episodes on TV without the opportunity of acquiring a more detailed perspective of this remarkable series. So I decided to give this movie a look just to remember a little from the old days. I can get the series any time on DVD but interest faded away. Even more for this movie.

| The Rurouni Kenshin movie is one of those anime that takes itself as seriously as a heart attack, but viewers such as myself may find themselves laughing many a time. Filled with overblown theatrics, cheesy dialogue, and very annoying characters, this movie is obviously meant for a pre-established audience. You know who you are Kenshin fans. If you drool over anything with the initials R.K., then I recommend this. If not, well, it can be enjoyed as a ninety minute popcorn flick that one would find entertaining for all the wrong reasons.

| I don't think this is deserving of being called a movie for the series Rurouni Kenshin since it does not conclude anything. This would be much better as part of the series.
Now looking at this as a part of the series than a movie it would probably score 7-8 in the story because the story is well told. There are no contradicting details. The story follows a chronological order. Pretty much a basic story.

| infamous spin off of the ever famous Kenshin anime series. This movie is just side story of Kenshin and another "how past catches up to Kenshin" senario. This anime shows no real progress in Kenshin storyline nor does it show any character development in any of the characters. It's flat out lame.
The animation sucks. The animation is at the TV show level. From every animated movie i'm expecting some movie quality animation. We got NONE here. infact animation becomes literally distracting towards the end.
The characters are total empty shells. There's little story about how Kenshin killed this one guy in the past have something to do with the past but we've seen that before. Sanosuke, Yahiko, and Kaoru have no significant role in the storyline either.
Music is incredibly low key. In fact music is so unnoticable to a point that it hurts the movie.
Oh yea and what's up with the super Sayan at the end?
This movie is really bad. and when it's horrible to a point of frustration, i have nothing more to write about.
This is more like a bad filler episodes of Kenshin anime series. People just don't know when to stop millking money out of a great and famous series. What a shame. If you are Kenshin fan don't watch this. If you are not Kenshin fan stay away.

| I can’t understand the criticism and relatively low scores this movie has received, the main complaint seems to be that is an extended episode of the TV series (or more like a 3-episode arc). However if you’re a fan of the show (like me) I can’t see what problem you’d have with seeing more of Kenshin, Yahiko etc. It may not be the best Kenshin story ever (hence lower story and enjoyment scores), but it still good nonetheless and all your favourite characters are all here and entertaining as always. Personally I see the movie as an ideal introduction to the Kenshin TV Series for those uninitiated, a good way to tell if you’d want to see all 95 episodes. My only main grievance with the movie is the constant repetitive flashback sequence, it must appear 4 or 5 times and it’s always the same and gets pretty annoying. Once seen it can be thought of as episodes 96-98, with Reflection as 99-100.

| Carries the same animation spirit as the series. Since this is a movie, there should be a higher standard, and therefore this movie is not a good movie in light of this aspect..
Whatever you think about the series will apply to this. Kenshin is his usual noble and calm self on the surface but with a disturbed past.
Not really any meaningful character or story development, more of an extra side story. A little more exploration of events that happened in Kenshin's past and again the aftermath of his actions and the burdens and responsibilities he has to deal with..
Quite fun to watch, and you'll like this extra bit if you enjoyed Kenshin. However it doesn't really increase anything knowledge about the series nor increase any sympathies for the current cast.

| First things first. This movie is intended as a story which explores already known characters. Widens the world already drawn etc. It targeted the audience already captured with TV series (thanks NauXolo). So without watching at least one of them you really are going to miss several things, which is a shame.
So if You are a fan of RK, then You will enjoy it quite a bit, I'd give it even 8 - although fighting scenes are poorly drawn in comparison to OVA's or episodes like 'Shadow of the Wolf draws closer' or 'Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki' from TV series. If You are not - or if You are looking for sth NEW, like I did, You will be slightly enjoyed - that is 6. I'm not gonna give it a 7 though (arithmetical mediana) ;P, and that's because enjoyment is my private judgement and it allways will be. So 6 in enjoyment for me. It's lowest score in Kenshin universe.

| This score for this is surprisingly low. I guess it's because this was pretty much just a prolonged episode of the Kenshin series, both in style and story. Not really much taht is original here.
I, on the other hand, found this to be quite an enjoyable. I judge it to be a longer, above average episode of Kenshin. As always, it was exciting to catch a glimpse of Kenshin as his former self. The characters are all consistent with the series (nice to see the Wolf of Mimbu again), and the story is moving at places. All those are the good points. Bad points are the excessive flashbacks - the scenes in the beginning are repeated a bit too much for my liking, and the jokes sucked.
Overall, good movie. Watch it if you're a Kenshin fan, but it doesn't really add that much to the world of Kenshin.

| I personally don't like movies or short OVAs, because it is nearly impossible to make you care about the characters in such a short time, yet this movie manages to do it, at least a little bit. On the other hand some characters were already developed in the TV series. Though Shigure and Toki are not so bad as well.
I was a fan of Rurouni Kenshin long ago, that anime hooked me to this world too, so I needed to see this movie, it was actually less than I expected, on the other hand TV series would be a lot less to me now too...
We have pretty well developed characters here, looks like Watsuki Nobuhiro never tires to develop Kenshin. Shigure was pretty well done too. His reasons and actions were real and expected. The only thing I didin't like was - he was far too strong... As an old Kenshin's fan I was angry to see somekind of an outsider to be nearly as strong as Shishio is. So I pretented that Kenshin is holding back on him on purpose.
An interesting fact about this movie is that there is no 'evil' villain in here. Well except for some corrupted minor guys, but anyways I liked that Kenshin and Shigure were actually both 'good' characters. They were just fighting for their own ideals, after all in the real world 'evil' side, actually, doesn't exist, the ones 'evil' are the ones who are not by your side, and to them you are probably 'evil'. This movie gives you a feeling of reality. I prefer fantasy over reality, though.
It's really painful to write lenghty review about the short thing, so I have to end it here. Rurouni Kenshin's fans - definetly recommended, others - watch TV series first... If you are willing to.

| Just like every other big name or established anime series out there, when a movie version comes out, it's never really about developing characters or expanding on the world of the series. But creating an exciting story with lots of action to draw people in. And Requiem for the Ishin Shishi is no different.
The animation is top quality as it is the movie adaptation of the anime, thus the quality was obviously much better. The movie have also retained the orginal voice cast but with a better BGM.
The story, unlike the TV series, is focused more on action, rather than bringing in new ideas to move the franchise forward, the writers just expanded on what is already established, by bringing in another character who wants to overthrow the government, and plot some evil scheme to achieve their ways.
As with other anime movies, characters are rarely developed here. Rather, they take what is already established in the TV series, and let them play out the situation that they are given in. So in this movie, rather than seeing Kenshin further developing himself, you would see him reacts in way that only Kenshin would. So this is both good and bad at the same time.
Overall, it's decent to watch even if you don't know the backstory of Rurouni kenshin, but it's definitely much better to have watched either the TV series or the manga in order to truly absorbed in this movie.

| Blood drips from Kenshin’s old murderous blade as he stumbles. Around him, everybody is dead even his own comrades. What he didn’t realize is that somebody was watching him. SLASH!
First off, Samurai X doesn’t fit anywhere in the original story because Kenshin was assassinating people with a cross-shaped scar. After Kenshin got his cross scar, he swore never to kill again. If you can get past that, then you’ll find a mediocre story with action that’ll make your heart pulse rise by 10. Oh, and the voice actors aren’t as good as the television series. If you’re a Kenshin fan, pick it up; if you’re not, then skip it.

| Just to get started and clear something important off: you don't really need to try and understand where in time it fits in the series or OVAs, simply because this is a movie. It's a side-story to the series that would be able to happen any other day in the characters' lives (although it certainly takes place after Shishio's saga, since it's when Kenshin meets up with Saitou).
Well, on to the movie itself: the overall concept of it was very good IMO, since it's a touching story. Without giving the idea away, we can say that death of people seems to be the point where the show catchs your feelings -- as well as it works with the OVAs. Certainly it didn't reach anywhere near the OVAs' atmosphere, but the movie did its job so very nicely and movingly as well.
Animation has its details, but unfortunately is below average -- and you'll find it like that specially if you watch this movie AFTER watching the OVAs (it's not like a comparison, but once you come across a top-notch production, you naturally get dissapointed if another installment of the same series does not receive the same treatment). Anyway, some scenes get repetitive and unnecessary, but overall, animation is OK and certainly bearable.
Music was superb IMO. It fitted very nicely with the aspect of the show and flow of the story. Admittedly, it is one of the items in this production that the helps bringing you into tears.
The "heroes" obviously are from your known daily Rurouni Kenshin series. Newcomer Shigure Takimi, the villian for this installment, is a very polished and well-evolved character. It's only a shame that Saitou had so much of an insignificant appearance.
All in all, it is a very good movie if you overlook some flaws with the animation and drawings -- just make sure you follow the story very carefully.

| I saw this anime after the Kenshin TVseries episode 62, and i couldn´t fit it in really. Some says that it takes place after ep62, but cause of some things i could not see how that was, which i cant tell without spoil the series ;)
It has the same animationstyle as the series, which i like about it, but it didn´t have enough story and so to feel like a good movie.
It felt more like a long episode instead.
However, it is not bad, and i liked that it was a little more "serious" than the series often isn´t, and with more violence.

| It has about the same plot as a kenshin episode or storyline, but nowhere near the same flow. You have pieces of a back story and current events mingling and not really drawing you in to the plot.
On a side note, my anime group doesn't like subtitles, so we'll usually watch the dubbed version. The characters have different English voice actors than the TV series and that also throws it off a bit.

| To each wonderful serie, there a "good but not quite as much as the real thing" movie. Like most anime movie taken from the TV show, it's a 90 minutes episode.
Still, this "episode" is full of action and great fighting scene. We even get to see a more indept in Yahiko's character as he play a larger role in the movie than in most of the TV episodes.
The movie keep the anime style of the tv show so if you didn't liked the OVA, the movie is a good choice!

| I still love Kenshin and this movie is pretty good. However, it really doesn't add much to any of the characters, except maybe Yahiko a little, and doesn't really add to the Kenshin storyline. It really could have actually just been another small story arc in Kenshin actually, since it really looks the same.
Overall, it's not bad, just sorta... forgetful you could say. It's not the worst Kenshin thing around, it just could have been better.

| Kenshin movie was a good movie, but seemed kinda a waste of making since it would of been easier to just of added it in the series (simply kill off random fillers and throw this in). It was a nice story but it didn't actually appear any different than the series itself, you'd think there were some changes like special effects/etc but they still have the same exact stuff as the show, so finding it a surprise was not in this, obviously.
Story was nice, but not too original, it was the mere "you killed my best friend now you'll pay" kinda deal, wasnt too original. Ending was quite sad but got great when saitou and kenshin killed the cocksuckers who made the ending depressing ^_^
