| Bleh, even though Final Fantasy VII and its setting rock, somehow they managed to make it suck. Oh well, it's not like I was expecting much from the beginning. Basically, there is little plot in this movie, while characters are as good as non existent. Even though, this anime is still worth seeing, for its eye candy that is. It possess possibly the best visuals out of any show I have seen before. It makes me ponder how many money went to it... Again, I wish at least a little bit of that money had went to hire a good screen writer.

| I only was really drawn to this movie b/c I am such a FF fan, and have played and own every single title in the series. =D That said I still have to dump some categories for this review. :(
Animation/Sound: Both the animation and sound imo are very good. The 3D graphics are truly top-notch as well as the story has excellent voice acting and a decent soundtrack. I'm simply going to have to go with a 10 in both these categories for somewhat obvious reasons if you watch the DVD copy of the movie. The structure of this movie is in fact very well done.
Story: Ok, admittedly the story doesn't make probably any sense at all if you haven't played FF7 and it isn't very deep at all even if you have played it. It kinda feels somewhat like an aftermath story. Although I did enjoy it, cuz I know everything about the FF7 franchise I doubt people who have not finished, or not even played the game would enjoy it at all. Thus its only fair to give this pretty shallow story a 4.
Character: >_> OMG! If you haven't played this game don't even TRY to figure out who is who. I was already familiar with basically every character, but they don't even tell you half the people's names. You are left to kinda sit there and blindly guess at who is who. This could be VERY frustrating for the viewer if they aren't up to par on FF. Additionally all the flash backs, etc... are kinda "insider scenes." Meaning that once again, if you haven't played the game through certain points you won't get anything at all out of this movie.
Value/Enjoyment: The animation and sound are great, and personally since I know the story so well, I ended up enjoying seeing all my favorite RPG chars return to the big screen. I'm going to rate the Value and Enjoyment up high then b/c personally I did really enjoy this. BUT... If you haven't played the game and beat it you are in for a nasty surprise b/c you will be nearly completely clueless as to what is going on at any point in this movie.
Good movie, its just targetted a bit too heavy to FF fans for anyone else to enjoy it. So if your like me and a FF groupie you will LOVE this film. If not, meh, you prob won't understand more than 4 minutes of it.

| DISCLAIMER: I have poor grammar and spelling abilities, and I am very sorry. I believe that a decent Final Fantasy Advent Children review is needed, so I will write one.
I have not plated all of the FF games, I have only played a couple. Just like most of the self proclaimed FF fanatics out there who keep saying that I need to play the games to understand the movie. I should not have to play a video game to understand a movie's storyline. The movie should be able to explain its self, which Final Fantasy fails to do.
My overall review of FF:AC is this:
It is an overrated, melodramatic, fanserviced pile of garbage.

| Okay, I watched this last night(or early early morning, whichever you'd rather call it). Certainly first thing that makes this anime stand apart from all others is the animation. I personally value animation above all else. That said, this is the best CG animation probably ever created. There is nothing I have ever seen to compare to this. If anything buy it just so you can marvel at how the creators possibly could have done something this fantastic. Definetely the animation of the future, but all CG, so if you're not into that, this isn't your type of shin-dig. As for the movie, characters I kinda like, but the story can drag a bit and be confusing. Really, this movie's value lies in its style. So if you really love state of the art 'art' and awesome fight scenes with the coolest moves ever created, I recommend this completely. This is unlike anything ever before seen.

| Though it is considerably better than I thought it would be, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is highly pretentious, attempting to string together fragmented fight scenes with a "philosophical" thread so loose that the film is painfully incoherant.
Mind blowing visuals and high quality scoring save the movie from an abysmal score, yet ultimately it is little
more that a 90 min clip show of fight scenes with a story so bare that even the most dedicated Final Fantasy
fan would be scratching their heads.

| To start off, I've played FFVII before... twice infact. I love the game, and in my opinion it's one of the best in the whole Final Fantasy franchise. After so many years, SquareEnix has finally decided to give the fans a little something back - some spinoffs from the title. It's not like a little fan service is ever bad, but FFVII:AC doesn't exactly carry on the storyline of FFVII all too well. It's definitely NOT the greatest movie out there but it's sure to please the fans of one of the most popular RPG franchises in history.
Animation-wise, there is nothing to complain about. This movie has some of the best CGI graphics to ever grace the television screen. If anything, watch it just for the graphics. They're just stunning. For fans, it's just a really cool way to see your favorite characters come alive in 3D animation.
The soundtrack to this movie is amazing. Songs from the original FFVII game OST comes back and get a facelift, like One-winged Angel. I'm sure we've all heard the new rockified version of that song some time since this movie was released. All the tracks on the OST match the fight scenes in the movie and have a very rockish feel to them. The voice actors in this movie did an excellent job as well, and did a wonderful job of bring to life my favorite FFVII characters. As for sound effects, I normally don't pay much mind to sound effects, but I guess I can say that they were pretty good too.
Now, the story... the most important part of any kind of show one's watching. To be quite honest, even after playing the original game, this movie confused me. I've watched this movie twice already, trying to actually make sense of this movie, but I haven't worked it out yet. From what I can gather, this movie takes place a while after the events that happened in the game, and a new illness that's resulted from Mako has affected the people of the world. On top of that, there is a gang of three new villians who are trying to revive Sephiroth. That's pretty much it. Don't expect much depth in this movie, because there is none. This movie focuses so much on flashy fight scenes that it's easy to forget what the overall plot of this movie is.
Characters... Can't really complain much about the characters. It's pretty much all the same characters from the video game, though none really play a very important role in the movie other than Cloud. The rest of the gang just make short cameo appearances throughout the movie, which is ok since there's really no need for further characterization for this after one's played the video game. But the new characters presented in the movie are bland, boring, and typical.
Value & Enjoyment: I tried watching this movie the first time it was released onto DVD, but I couldn't sit past the first twenty minutes. The next time I tried to watch it, I had to force myself to sit through all of it. I watched it a third time in an attempt to make sense of the plot, but it's not like I paid too much attention to it the third time. Overall, I didn't enjoy this movie too much. It's pretty mind numbing, and was a pain to just sit through. I most likely will not go through a fourth sitting of this movie. I've wasted enough time with it already. But I did enjoy the appearance of my favorite FFVII characters popping in and out of the movie, despite how seldom that was.
Overall, this movie is a disappointment. But it might please other fans of the Final Fantasy series.

| (NOTE TO READER: If you happen to read this review, whether in-full, or just a skim, if you have a minute, just let me know what you thought. I will appreciate the feedback, negative or positive, and will return the gesture if you have made your own review.)
Ah, Final Fantasy VII...
When this game premiered back in 1997, it happened in a very memorable, and enjoyable time in my life. I enjoyed every bit of completing 100% of the game, and had been looking forward to the release of this movie for many years following its initial announcement.
To appreciate this review, and to have any interest in reading it thoroughly, I`d have to recommend that you`re also a fan of the FFVII game, as I`ll be very detailed for this review in particular. To the Mainstreamer just interested in some insight, just check out the bold/underlined segments.
First of all, it is not mandatory to have played the game to enjoy this movie. However, you will[ get the maximum enjoyment out of it if you did play the game.
Animation:
Oh how beautiful it is. AC is a sumptuous visual masterpiece. The CG in this is simply the best I`ve seen to date, and I don`t expect too much to surpass it in the very near future.
Every frame of Advent Children teems with the love of its creators. From the opening sequence of an older Red XIII overlooking the grassy remains of midgar, to the final credits, you will be in awe of the amount of effort that went into making everything in the world of FFVII come brilliantly to life.
The action sequences are just amazing. For anyone who has not played the game, it is worth it to watch this just to see the fantastic action in this movie. Even after I have seen AC for the ...15th time? It`s still enjoyable to skip the story sequences just to watch the amazing fight sequences, that tie in absolutely perfectly with it`s epic soundtrack...
Sound:
Nobuo Uematsu has become a household name, not just for video gamers, but for the multimedia mainstream as well. The breathtaking soundtracks of the Final Fantasy games has wowed people all over the world in CD form, as well as live orchestral concerts.
AC is no exception to this. Many of the original tunes that made the bestselling FFVII game soundtrack so popular, are back and better than ever.
The Black Mages (Uematsu`s personal Rock/Metal band) lend their awesome sound to most of the music, and charge every battle scene with high energy, high intensity guitar riffs, alongside Uematsu`s organ work. The remix of "One Winged Angel" and how it so harmoniusly goes with the action and dialogue in this movies final battle still gives me chills every time I see it.
The Voice cast all played their roles well too. I was extremely happy with the choices made for most all the characters. The characters sounded pretty much how you would imagine them too. That`s saying alot, considering they`re taking characters the target audience for the movie is very intimate with and giving them something integral to a movie, that the 1997 game version lacked .. voices.
Story:
To truly appreciate the story of FFVII:AC, you have to have played the game, otherwise AC becomes a glorified, visually impressive slugfest. The story takes place 3 years after the events at the end of FFVII.
The entire premise of the story is fairly simple in this sequel. The same characters are placed in a world now plagued by a disease which was the aftermath of the end of the game. (Which they explain in a lengthy dialogue at the beginning of the movie) The characters are back to their normal lives, when suddenly a new gang of villains with extraordinary power and an evil agenda show up and attack Cloud.
From there on, it`s a quest to find out who they are, how they tie into this new disease plaguing the planet, and what their ultimate goal is. Your typical "Good vs Evil, fight the bad guys, save the world" epic, just with characters that a target audience is familiar with.
The unfortunate thing is that this story will more than likely have a lackluster appeal to anyone who has not played the FFVII game. AC was made more as a fanservice project anyway, but ended up becoming a mainstream phenomenon in the process, due to its insane amount of hype.
Character:
People who are not fans of the game are going to have a very hard time connecting with the main characters. There is little to no development whatsoever for about 75% of the cast, and the one`s who do receive development get it minimally at best. It`s obvious Square wanted to wow the mainstream with breathtaking visuals, while relying on the very appearence of its beloved characters to carry this movie into the homes of its already rock solid fanbase.
Almost all of the characters in AC premiered originally in the game. There`s a problem here though. They made newcomer Denzel one of the main characters in the movie. Even as a fanservice based movie, most fans went into this one wondering who the heck this kid is...
In order to understand Denzel`s story, you have to go and read up on it... it isn`t mentioned at all in the game, or even in any backstory during the film itself...he`s just kind of there, and for some reason, plays an important role.
Mandatory research to understand a character or parts of a story is a big no-no, especially for a movie with the goal AC had.
Some characters were given the proper amount of screentime, and were mirror images of their game counterparts. (Cloud, Sephiroth, Tifa, Aeris, Vincent, Marlene) but some characters were overdeveloped (The Turks, as much as I like them, did not play as integral a role in the game as some of the poorly underdeveloped characters in the movie) some characters receiving very little screentime (Cid, Barret, Yuffie) and others almost none at all (Red XIII had ONE line in this movie.)
It was important for them to develop the newcomers (Kadaj, Loz, Yazoo) and they did that very well. To be honest, I liked the direction they took AC in, but as a movie made for fanservice, it may put some viewers off.
Probably the single biggest turnoff to most fans, was that in the ONE battle the other characters aside from Cloud and Tifa got to take part in, they couldn`t even put a single scratch on the enemy, rendering the team virtually useless. I suppose this was done to illustrate Cloud`s new strength... at least that`s the only explanation I can come up with.
Value:
Now here is a hard one. To judge this from an unbiased Point of View.
I have purchased this movie at probably a quarter the amount I would have paid for it. For any fan of the Final Fantasy series, this is an absolute MUST own.
For a mainstream viewer not familiar with the FF games, it is still going to be a fun experience to watch with a group of friends and just absorb the amazing visual and audio experience. However, the Characters and the Story will be forgettable almost as soon as you`ve stopped the film, when you take away the games preset nostalgia factor.
Enjoyment:
This movie will be enjoyed once for it`s impressive and unique visual effect to the casual viewer.
To a fan however...the fact I wrote such a large scale review speaks for itself. As a fan of the FF series for the last decade, I loved every minute of AC, and if I could give an `11` for what Square tried to do, I would. This is the fanservice that fanatics have been waiting for.

| All the hype was surrounding FFVII AC and one couldn't help but anticipate its release. I was a little late at getting my chance to watch it, due to a major exam that I had to take... Nonetheless, I watched it anyway and it exceeded my expectations!
While the beginning could've been more exciting, I was quickly pulled into the movie as I was totally awestruck by the stunning visuals and soundtrack. Trust me, I was having a goosebumps attack, and I only get those when I'm overly impressed. ^_~
The characters were drawn with such detail and the sceneries are breath-taking. The music? Tops! Only to be expected from the legendary Nobuo Uematsu.
The seiyuu was done well too. I especially liked Tifa's, I think the voice really suits her character.
The story was a little confusing to me, probably because I never actually played the game (I was just looking over my brother's shoulder as he played it, when I was about 10 yrs old *heh*), so not much for me to comment about in this aspect. However, I was disappointed with the lack of character development. Cloud and company are deep, beautiful characters but the producers failed to flaunt their qualities. I guess this is the major flaw with all the FF movies to begin with.
Still, my conclusion is that this is one great movie (a benchmark in 3D animation, I'd say) and I'd recommend everyone to watch it, esp. those of you who loved playing the game. This one's not for you, though, if you're looking for storylines with substance.
Be blown away by the action sequences now!!!
(Oh, the re-watch value's pretty high too!)

| Some people like a lot of various anime, manga and video games, and after having finished with them, they can retain the general story, plot twists, and characters, but any specifics are forgotten. Then, there are other people who play one game, watch one anime, or read one manga over and over, look up everything they can about the thing they like, and become obsessed with that one thing for a VERY long time. These archetypes I have set up just now are the situation I found myself in while watching this movie - me being the person with various interests, and my friend being the one who was obsessed with one certain thing, in this case Final Fantasy VII.
I played FFVII one and a half, possibly two, years ago (borrowed from the friend btw). So I remember the basics I outlined before, but nothing more. Not to mention I never actually finished, so that was another strike aginst me enjoying this to it's maximum. In any case, this movie comes dangerously close to being one of those stupid SF movies where everyone speaks as if something really important is going on, using all these weird words and confusing and boring the audience. However, what keeps it a cut above those movies is the sense of humor it has and the action sequences. While the action was kind of fast-paced and dizzying, there is no denying it was thrilling and exciting, even if the final action sequence was WAY too long. And the humor was great - during seemingly important, tense scenes, there would be the Truks - my favourite characters from the game - making everything a little less tense. It didn't feel forced though - it was very natural and the Truks were probably the most developed characters in the whole movie.
On that note, I cannot stress how important it is that the game is played before viewing this. While it has unrelated game points that any new viewer could enjoy, the thing that really makes it is knowing the basic stories and characters beforehand. In the movie alone, there is no backstory given (save a two minute quickie intro that will just leave people scratching their heads), and viewers are dropped basically headfirst into a world they know nothing about. Even though I couldn't remember EVERYTHING from the game, what I knew was what gave every scene such meaning. Whether reading manga or playing a video game, it's such a joy to see your favourite characters moving and talking.
In short, if you're a person who will take jaw dropping visuals over a good story any day, this is for you. if you've played FFVII before, even long ago like me, this is for you. If you haven't played FFVII, and you need substance, you might want to look elsewhere. This movie is still a good time, but it's not a particularly substantial one. A lot of the time, it seems to be the animation team showing off what they can do, and the story is a tad confuisng if you have no prior knowledge of the world of FFVII. But this is still THE anime event of the year, and you'd be damned to miss it.

| Awesome movie from beginning to end!
Animation is obviously the best in 2005.
Music tracks were great, its almost as if you're watching a music video sometimes since the scenes sync very well with the actions and events. Voice acting was also great too! Cloud's voice was just how I imagined it would be like, which I found really surprising.
Story well, I felt it was somewhat light-weighted. It seems pretty simple and linear followed by many action sequence. To someone who has not played the game, the story is pretty much hidden underneath the surface. To an FF7 fan, I guess the story would probably make sense in the events. But, the down side is possibly that more time was given to action sequences rather than developing the story, which I thought was kinda disappointing.
Characters, although some argue that character development isnt required since they were already developed in the game, I still feel that a movie isnt complete if there isnt any character development. By the time the movie finished, I felt that I haven't gotten anything out of it; same with the story too. I guess the only thing I liked about the characters is how it still closely resembles the characters from the game (even the things I havent thought about).
This movie was very much enjoyed! I would watch it weekly until I get bored if I had the time. Or, I'd probably watch it daily if I was still a kid too!

| There's many things people don't appreciate about this. This movie was truly enjoyable but not to everyone. To like and/or understand the movie you must be a fan of FFVII and be appreciative for the movie in the first place. The animation was stunning and deserved a 10. Along with the music and sound effects. I always considered the characters in FFVII to be amazing, cool people. The movie was truly amazing. My favorite parts were the fighting scenes and Cloud was great on the Motorcycle. Although I rated everything highly I had to rate the Storyline the worst (8). It's because of the lack of explanation of what's going on and the magical transformation of Kadaj - Sephiroth. Overall I would give this move about a 9/10 as you can see on the left of my review.

| Video game to movie adaptations almost always flop or are negatively received because there is no way to please each and every fan. This is especially true for hyped-up, huge revampings of a time-worn classic, such as Final Fantasy VII. FF7 was an amazing game simply because it not only heralded the RPG age officially entering the third dimension, but because nearly every player appreciated at least one part of the game. I could prattle on and on about how great the game was, but that would not really be fair to its movie counterpart. After all, this is hardly as good.
Some may contest the merits of this movie's source material, but in my opinion the game had a fantastic storyline and some great characters. Everyone was able to connect with at least one member of the crew, and everyone always had their favorite scene that they loved to watch over and over again. My favorite character was Aeris and I was enamored with the Lucrecia subplot later in the game. As typical of me, however, my opinions stood in the minority: the most popular scene was always Sephiroth walking through the flames and no character could stand up to Cloud's big butcher knife or Tifa's bigger breasts. And thus, that is what we get a whole hell of a lot of in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Kick back to what I just said about pleasing the fan. There's quite clearly a biased agenda here; Square-Enix assumes that every single viewer is going to want Cloud and Tifa and action scenes and a lot of them, and thus the movie becomes a gigantic fanservice wank. NO consideration whatsoever is paid to any other characters except the Turks, Marlene, and Rufus (who was brought back to life in an amazing show of retconning -- yeah, of COURSE he survived getting blown up!). Instead, we get a whole lot of pretty silver-haired boys coming out of NOWHERE and babbling about reviving "Mother". Cloud fights them, then a creature attacks Midgar, then children wander around, then Cloud fights people some more, and then some things happen that are spoilers and Square-Enix thinks every FF7 fanboy is now pissing his panties.
Well...what the movie actually does do, it does very well. The animation is unsurpassed in the 3D field. Everything in the Advent Children world is so lovingly rendered; it brings new life to an old canon. Characters look fresh and exuberant and settings are beautiful, but I only wish I could have seen more of the familiar FF7 world in this new light. There are so many locations in the game, and spells and summons, that would have been breathtaking to see all laid out in glorious CGI. God...the Ancient City in 3D...I would have killed for that. The sound is great too, primarily remixes of songs from the original game. All of them sound spectacular, especially the Jenova remix towards the end of the movie. And both of them work together to create some truly kickass action scenes. There's some unforgettable combat to be seen here in Advent Children, except for one major problem. Do the laws of physics not apply anymore? What the HELL was up with that 9000 feet jump that Cloud did when he was fighting that monster? The movie is full of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon-style acrobatics, and even though this isn't supposed to be as real as that movie it still feels awkward and unnatural. I couldn't suspend my disbelief.
Past the aesthetic feast and amazing action of FF7:AC, however, the whole affair falls completely apart. I stand in a minority on this opinion, but I felt the game's ending was excellent and left very little to be speculated upon. I was satisfied with the resolution. In a whirl of really bad retconning, however, Square-Enix came up with something new called the Geostigma. I couldn't really tell but I think the Lifestream causes this disease to children, and so a bunch of children are wandering around sick or something. The story is almost never concentrated on, however, because we basically are treated to Cloud riding on his motorcycle for more time than actual plot exposition. The Turks and Shinra have some doing in this too but whatever. Meanwhile, three really stupid characters, named Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo, all decide to bring back Jenova for no good reason with some cells they conveniently found lying around. Between summoning shit out of midair and brainwashing children, their bag of tricks never seems to end! Um, great. The rest of the movie is spent in a muddled haze as we watch Cloud wander around and kill a whole lot of crap.
Worst of all, though, Cloud is the only character who gets to do anything interesting at all. Tifa gets one awesome fight scene but then sinks into the background. Vincent floats around and acts cool for a while but is quickly relegated to obscurity as well. Every other playable character is strapped in some dinky-ass cameo scene, much to my dissatisfaction. And Aeris barely shows up at all! She has maybe three scenes through the entire movie where she talks for no longer than 10 seconds to Cloud. A fantastic cast of characters is completely squandered, and we are instead forced to watch the angsty cardboard Cloud. What little life or enigma his character had in the game is completely gone now. Elena and Tseng get bit parts...very bit parts. Freaking Rude and Reno get to fight more than anyone else in the movie except Cloud. What the hell? Who cares about them? The lack of character utility is without any doubt this movie's strongest downfall.
In fact, FF7:AC is a lot of wasted potential because it didn't strengthen what made it such a great game. We instead got an absolutely awful original plot and a focus on a mere one character, with some crappy new side characters thrown in to create a conflict. Despite the vivid animation, the world of FF7:AC is so bland and uncaptivating to watch that it was money well wasted. Sure, there are plenty of great times to be gleaned from this movie, since the fight scenes are so amazing. And fans of whatever characters I mentioned will certainly be appeased. Don't expect the second coming of a fantastic old Playstation classic, though. This is nowhere near that.

| a mediocre movie with stunning animation that isn't even really anime. The art style isn't anime but it is very well done and the only point about the anime.
Um I guess the sound was allright. It had a lot of reused music from the game to make it familiar and the music fit all the scenes pretty well.
The story is stupid and barely explained at all. Only a few lines from each of the characters was muttered and this was a huge dissapointment because I was hoping for a awesome movie taking place after ff7 that shows us how the world has developed since then and more of the characters that I loved so much but instead I got action, action, and more action.
Characters? I think this desk sitting in front of me has more character and it was a $40 desk from wal-mart.
No value to this at all. You don't learn anything from it, no moral lessons, no characters you hate so you learn not to act like that, just nothing.
It is somewhat enjoyable the first time you watch it since the action is very well done but after that I doubt you'll be able to sit through it again.

| I thought the animation was great, although it did bend the laws of physics a atd to much to be believable, the thing i didnt like about this is it was half fight scene and if you havent played ff7 you dont have a clue what the hell is going on. also they make cloud look like a big panzy/crybabby/suck. there wasnt really any character developement although the creators were probably counting on the viewers haveing prior knowledge, which i had, otherwise id give this a 3 for character. Lots of the movie and the plot didnt make sence.
if you like ff7 watch it maby
if you havent played ff7, stay away, it will be confuseing

| Advent Children is a computer-graphic movie made by Square-Enix, and part of the Final Fantasy VII Compilation.
It certainly delivers for fanservice, with kickass fights, voices for characters we have been waiting for, and all the characters in beautifully designed CG.
However, if you are NOT a fan or have never played/heard of Final Fantasy 7, stay away, because there are a lot of places where this movie absolutely BLOWS.

| Advent Children is all about the action and the artistry. To enjoy this production you should:
1. be a FF7 fan
2. have an appreciation for masterfully created action sequences in and of themselves
Typically an engaging story is key to the success of anime-this is not the case here. Instead, SqureEnix opted to concentrate on what they're good at by focusing on creating amazing CG action sequences that are both asthetically incredible and refreshingly creative. This was a smart move. The first (and probably last) time Square tried to create a CG movie that focused on plot they failed miserably. CG animation imposes certain limits on persuasive "acting."
Again, Advent Children is all about the action, and as such, its not for everyone. It is certainly not appealing for non-FF7 fans, who have no emotional attachment to the characters and do not understand the plot references that are being made. However, my ratings take into account my perspective alone-I do not presume to be able to represent the opinions of anyone else but myself.

| Yes... Long awaited Final fantasy Advent Childern! As a fan of Final Fantasy game series, I'm quite dissapointed.
Animation, fights, voice acting and sound are superb. But where are freaking story and characters? First, story is just so bad, it really hurts... They really spoiled all they have worked on in game. In one word - story is awfull. Rather go and play Final Fantasy 7 and don't watch this...
Second, other characters are just there so no one could comply for not showing them! It was just like Oh, my God!
I shouldn't expect something more from Square-Enix... Since the two companys are working together, nothing that comes out under their name is not even woth mentioning! This is my last time I'll see anything that they are working on. Rest in peace Squaresoft!

| So here it is...the long awaited FFVII Advent Children movie
This movie easily topples any other anime in terms of animation, fight scenes and sceneries.....in the visual department, this thing OWNS
Sound is quite good, although most of them are reused music from the game or something you heard before...it does bring back the memories of playing the game and gives you that FF world feel, so I think the music is quite good and serves a purpose
Now, the story...this movie is almost non-stop action, you will be lucky if you find a character who mutters more than 20 lines total in the movie...it's not necessary a bad thing, since it won't ruin the action scenes with unnecessary talking. However, it makes the movie very confusing for those who never played the game. Reunion? Mother? They only answered some of those questions at a very shallow level, leaving the viewers to mostly look online or research for the answers.
Unfortunately, you will hardly see the minor characters in this movie...after all, Cloud and Tifa pretty much hogs all the screentime. Not necessary a bad thing, but I would have wanted to see other characters more as well.
Those who likes action will simply love this movie. As for those looking for deep, philosophical or drama orientated movies, it might be a bit too shallow for those.

| Perhaps the most hyped up movie of 2005. Using brilliant CG animation Square Enix presents - a movie that was all aniamtion and no story.
Yes, I know that you must play the game AND see Final Fantasy - The last Order to appreciate it BUT a movie is meant to be a stand alone feature. Hence what we have on our hands is not a very good movie.
ANIMATION
Breathtaking would be an understatement. Got to hand it to Square Enix on this one. Easily the best animation produced to date, outshining other anime by miles.
SOUND
All aspects related to music and seiyuu were very well done. The music during the action scenes got you up and running.
STORY
Story? What the hell is that? Let me summarise:
Scene 1: Man on bike. Fights with 3 other men on bike
Scene 2: Hot babe fights with a badass guy.
Scene 3: Man again fights with the 3 men again. This time he's not on a bike.
Scene 4: Something goes berserk on town square. Everyone fights.
Scene 5, Scene 6 ad infintum....
So whats happening? Beats me - Enjoy the fighting sequences. Oh, did I tell you that the action is amazing?
CHARACTER
What's that? Enjoy the fight scenes....
VALUE
Yeah, I get it - Play the game and you'll realise how good this is... I don't wanna play a game. I wanted to see a movie. In a few words - Enjoy the fighting scenes and forget EVERYTHING ELSE
ENJOYMENT
Action lovers will get kicks out of this one. So will CG animators. Everyone else - It's ok as long as the film rolls, then forget about it. Not very great stuff.
