Inukami was a random anime which I found online. I liked the artwork, so I decided to take a look to see if it's good or not. It turns out it's not that bad...

The animation was done nicely. Some parts of the anime were drawn in a way that makes you kinda laugh....Kinda... Most of the anime you'll see macho men with speedos and guys naked left and right... The girls; however, were very cute! :D

The sound was pretty interesting. I love some of the episodes cause they made you think of old movies such a Rocky! The OP and ED were decent(I really didn't care much for the animation or the songs).

The story is pretty interesting. Keita is the thrown out of the Kawahira's family for being too weak. This family is known for their pacts with the Inukami, which are Dog Gods. Together they fight evil spirits and whatever comes their way. Keita makes a pact with a peculiar Inukami named Yoko. Yoko is deeply in love with Keita, but he prefers humans over Gods. Their fights make up the comedy in the anime most of the time. You also have 10 other girls who serve his cousin Kouro. Keita can't hold back when seeing so many pretty girls in one places, which makes Yoko jealous and starts the fight all over again. The plot of the story revolves around the idea of one man trying to make the city indecent. Basicly the whole anime is about perverts(Some episodes are kinda serious) except the last 3 chapters which turns into a serious plot.

Keita gets rather annoying after a while which might make you lose interest. Surprisingly enough, he gets some character development in the last few chapters of the anime. The last couple of chapters are definetly worth it though.

"I call in the name of the wise ruler of Hakusan!"

Inukami is a tale about a guy named Keita who is a member of the famous Kawahira family known for working with inukami (special dog beings that can transform into a human-like form) to fight for justice against evil in the world. Though in reality the majority of the story is about a pervert named Keita who seeks to get a harem (and basically fondle the women of the world) and his "loyal" inukami, Yoko, who would want him all for herself.

It is an interesting story that develops nicely incorporating a mixture of comedy, ecchi, and action. However, it is definitely a long watch for the amount of content and certain aspects of the story (and strange, strange focus on macho males and "elephants") detract from the otherwise enjoyable tale.

Inukami is a fun watch, but also a stretched one. There are better stories out given the length but nonetheless it's a decent show overall.

Inukami plumbs the story of an average high school boy and his unaverage female companion Yoko, a "dog demon" if I get my facts straight. It starts off mundanely and light heartedly but soon tails off into some seriously dark and thrilling.

Welcome to the perverted world of Inukami!

Inukami is a story essentially about perversion. You could try argue a point that its about trust or that it’s a typical harem anime, but at its core Inukami is about perversion.

I tend to classify Inukami as a reverse-fanservice anime. It does all the things that would lead up to some typical ‘clothes disappear’ situation but then and goes flips it on its head. Kind of hard to explain so here’s an example: The two leads, Keita and Youko, are together when suddenly in comes a cosplay rooster which instantly changes the characters clothes into some ridiculous form of cosplay. Now this is where Inukami stands out. Your usual fanservice anime would put the guy in some sort of funny girly costume, like a magical girl, and put the girls in some sort of revealing outfit, but not Inukami. The girl’s put into a magical girl costume but the guy…a girls school swimsuit, cat ears, a tail and flippers. If you can laugh at that then Inukami is for you.

Inukami does have some bad points to it. For example there are way too many characters. This might be ok if they were one-dimensional comedic characters but since they try to make them more rounded most of them are very boring. The star characters, bar the main two, are one-episode guys. The ‘professional perverts’ are a hilarious bunch. You have to respect people who can come up with lines like ‘the path of underwear is the path of war’.

You need a very specific sense of humor to enjoy Inukami. You only really need to watch the first episode to see what I mean. While they do take the perversion to a totally different level (such as an alternate dimension full of macho men in thongs who challenge our hero to a hip-thrusting competition), Inukami will make you laugh fairly consistently.

Watch the first few episodes and if you’re laughing then carry on. This anime is certainly not for everyone but hey, what anime is!

Inukami is the tale of Kieta Kawahira, a young man of a noble family. He is one of a long line of trainers of Inukami. These are spirits of a dog-nature that have mystical powers. Kieta is very perverted and dreams of having a harem of his hown like his cousin, Karou. The woman he is assigned to train is Youko, a somewhat uninhibited girl but gets very angry at Kieta's philandering. Their job is to fight evil spirits in Japan and send them to the other side.

Youko is a bit different from the Inukami. When she gets angry, sometimes she will teleport Kieta out into public - without his clothing. This is somewhat unusual in that it gives as much fangirl service as it does fanboy service. I've seen all the episodes, and I don't think that there was one where we didn't see Kieta with a strategically placed animal head only.

Another unusal thing about this anime is that it doesn't treat perverts as very sick people that have no hope for redemption - they show that perverts can have a good side too. (Although it does condemn their perverted behavior.)

Doggod... it's the same forward as it is backwards!! Unfortunately for Inukami it's about the same. Nothing spectacular, only worth watching if you can't fully comprehend how incredibly perverted the japanese can be. This anime takes no prisoners and all the libertys for feminine perversion that it just makes a dude like me absolutely sick... unless you like that stuff.
Bottom line, unless you can't get enough of guys in tight speedos, Inukami is not for you.

At first glance, One might think Inukami! is just another super hero anime, with the main characters who have super powers to save the world from bad guys. Well, this is true, but then once you try watching it, Inukami! will totally surprise you and bring you into the world of "Elephants", Nudity & Perversions...

To start off with, the animation was pretty decent for a 2006 anime. The animation was pretty good, The action scenes looked okay, & mmm, i have to say the character designs were just all right, but could have been done much better. Overall, the animation was just decent for a 2006 anime. However, i must say that the constant changing of the ending theme animation was a pretty good idea, to prevent boredom. =)

The Sounds were pretty good. With a Nice OP Theme, sung by the heroine of this series, Yui Horie, the nice Modern techno-ish music. x) ED Theme was a random song, but it had a nice melody... & mmm... The Seiyuus did a Pretty Good Job too. No Complaints here. =)

Mm. now about the story. At first, Many Many Many Characters were introduced in such a short period of time, & I started to wonder, if the extremely large number of characters will affect Inukami in a bad way or not. Well, Inukami! is a fantasy anime with super powers and Lots of Perverts & Ecchi ideas, I seriously don't know and DON"T WANT to enter into the mind of the Creator of Inukami!... =_="""... & Also, i think the creator has a very very weird fascination for Muscular Macho men in White Loincloths... =_="""

Inukami gives More Meaning to the proverb "Never Judge a Book by Its Cover". When i saw this anime, I thought it would be something like Bleach, using powers to fight against bad spirits. Who Knew this Anime had SO MANY OTHER Random STUFF ADDED?! Yes, Very Random & Every Episode Should Make you Laugh OutLoud if you enjoy that kind of comedy.

At the End of the anime, it gives a nice feeling that Inukami! ended in a nice happy way. & it was fun watching those Lighthearted scenes. There was considerably amount of character development in ALL the characters, though some might seem unnatural. I think this anime could be meant for kids, as it gave me the impression of "Power Rangers" or those kind of shows, the good guys, for some reason, no matter how injured/tired they were, they could still stand up and fight, even after being stabbed through their bodies?! Over & Over Again?! =O but then again, this isn't meant for kids with all those nudity and perverts. i think this anime should be MA- 15... =_=""""

Almost Everything in this anime is Super Unbelievable, But I guess it all adds up to the Superbly Unbelievable Wacky Aspect of Inukami!... =_="""...

For the Characters, there were many many characters involved, and there was a considerable amount of character development in all of them, so the balance is good. But well, all the characters in the anime were there to bring an extra laugh or two for this anime. & they did their jobs very well. =)

Overall, Inukami is an anime that One should NOT Take Seriously. Full of Wacky Comedy & Perverts, & Macho Men in Loincloths?! Every Episode will make you laugh out loud. But be warned. Don't expect too much of it. I have to say this was just a decent anime overall, since this anime had scenes where they tried to be sad and dramatic, but it didn't work. =_="""... and scenes of philosophy and the heroes lecturing etc.etc? but they just weren't powerful to work or change your life in anyway. but then again, well, i suppose they just added those scenes anyway just so Inukami will be complete in some way.

Either way, Inukami is a pretty Corny anime & Quite Predictable in Many Scenes, but still forgivable because of the Comedy & Light-heartedness with all the Characters in this Anime. =)

This show made me laugh out loud almost every episode. i had to pause it a couple times so i could stop. HOWEVER be warned! this show has practically no plot to speak of. ok ill just say it dosent have one. excell saga has more plot than this show, but it wasnt as funny...

ANIMATION:
well probably pretty sub-par for a 2006 animation, but i dont mind, it workes for me. I really liked how they changed the ending animation sequence every so often to fit with the story... and im pretty sure the animators had a fettish for muscular men in man-thongs.

SOUND:
Bleah, mediocre... i did like the ending theme tho it was not something im going to go out of my way to listen to... still this is one of the only shows i actually watched the ending theme of more than once

STORY:
<whoooooooosh>
(the sound of wind blowing through a barren place)
I think the director forgot that animes sometimes need a plot even if they are frickin halarious. Well there pretty much was not plot in the first 18 episodes, just relationship developements, if you could call it that. basically yoko just beats keita around whenever he looks at another girl or tellaports him out into the street naked, which causes him to get thrown in jail soon after... the other perverts in jail look up to him, lol. im laughing just thinking about it. anyway in the last 8 or so episodes they try to flesh out the main characters somewhat and intoduce a villan with... omg a world transformation objective of creating a lawless world. he wears no pants...

CHARACTER:
Well inukamis are dog people who can use magic and look cute and stuff. keita and his cousin kaoru are part of a family that hunts monsters/demons along with their inukami slaves,,, i meen assistants. keitas inukami owns him though so its a little different. Think of your generic harem setting and youll probably see a lot of familiar faces. still, them being inukamis makes it a little different

VALUE:
I hope i get to watch this again with one of my friends, if not, i might watch it again by myself.

ENJOYMENT:
This is possibly one of the most vulgar inapropriate shows ever made, but it was so fricken funny that i didnt care. i probably enjoyed this show a little too much for my age, mabey not. its a real riot in any case

Inukami are dog spirits with special powers, and Keita comes from a family that uses these spirits along with their own spiritual powers to rid the world of evil. Youko is Keita's Inukami, but she's not like the others. Not obedient nor respectful, she is a big burden on Keita financially. Youko does, at the very least, love him. She is prone to jealousy though, and extremely possessive, not to mention needy for attention, but Keita is a free, perverted soul who will do all in his power to escape her grasp and hit on all the women he comes across. Too bad Youko can teleport and control fire.

Inukami grabbed my attention but pulled something of a bait and switch. Inukami's animation serves as an indicator: This anime is grossly inconsistent. Hilarious and cute at times, but nauseating at times also.

Inukami's animation looks a little bit like gainax work at first, slick, pretty, and fast. Now and then that will pop up, but sometimes, Inukami cuts corners and skimps on fully animating movements in their action scenes. The quality fluctuations are actually very glaring.

A vast majority of Inukami is episodic. Youko and Keita get caught in situations while extinguishing evil at the request of others. Very slowly, a central story line involving Youko's father and a perverted wizard develops, but it all works within the episodic Inukami framework.

The humor in Inukami is pretty thorough. It can be found everywhere. Scenes that seem like they'll be corny or dramatic will be twisted into humor 50% of the time. Aside from the gags Youko and Keita pull, most of the humor in Inukami is just really wrong, and i mean that in a good way. The Inukami world is full of freaks with all kinds of "hobbies". The villain in the first episode is a restless soul who shoots people with a beam from his genitals, stripping them of their clothing. But don't worry, it gets much freakier than that.

The biggest problem with Inukami's story is when it doesn't try to be funny. I don't want to say Inukami fails in its action elements, but that's certainly not its strong suit. What it does fail at is drama. When Inukami drops its lightheartedness and goes for serious romance or emotional scenes, it falls right on its face. Corny and unnatural, but worst of all, it just feels inappropriate in the ridiculous Inukami world. thankfully, these serious scenes are rare. Most of the time, something totally wrong will be stuck in there.

Another problem with Inukami is that many episodes are boringly formulaic, following the love hina pattern of Keita grope, Youko punish. This setup works sometimes, if it's spiced up with a humorous situation or some wacky conversation, but too often is it just your simple grope/punish.

The minor characters; the freaks, perverts, Youko's ridiculous father and the exhibitionist wizard were all awesome. Likable, simple, and amusing as minor characters should be. Most of the real cast was quite a drag though. Keita's cousin's 10 Inukami, which he encounters quite often, are a gang of cliche'd harem characters. Keita himself is something of a cliche harem anime lead. Perverted most of the time, but unnaturally caring at others. Keita is a functional, if simple character when he is simply perverted, but his perversion extends so far that it's hard to see him in any other role, much less the nice guy role. The shift is far too unnatural and i'm left without a strong sense of Keita's character even in the end.

Youko is the most functional character in the regular cast. She has a lot more layers to her personality than the rest of the cast. Not that she's more realistic, just less simple. She has an aggressive and belligerent side, suitable for her action scenes. She has her jealousy and possessiveness, and to top it off, she's a tease as well. Youko really fills a lot of roles in this anime, and with the exception of her teary emotional side (which doesn't show up often), she's fun to watch. Even though her character has a wide range of moods and characteristics, it still feels more fluid, more logical than Keita's random switches from ultra-pervert to prince kindness.

It's very easy for me to recommend the first 2 episodes of Inukami to everyone. The humor does start looking a little dry as the series moves on, but even then, it's still pretty light hearted and amusing. Definitely not terrible for a harem anime.

I wouldn't say this is the best anime out there. But it surely isn't bad at all. Inukami! is very original, if not random at times. All the nude men and perverts and elephants and cute inukamis, you don't see those in your usual anime very often do you? Despite the silliness and pervertedness of the series, there is actually an underlying plot that's worth paying attention to. Even though the ending didn't seem all that satisfying, with Kaoru still dead and all after all the inukamis said he really isnt, i liked the series. They're also making a movie to this. Hopefully, the plot will finish there.

PLUS, Youko's seiyuu is Horie Yui, the singer of the theme AND the seiyuu for Naru in Love Hina. hehe.

Inukami had it moments. However, it presented little to make it stand out.

Animation - The animation was fairly good. Little to be said due to the fact there's nothing really outstanding to make it truly remarkable.

Sound - Also mediocre at best. Not a fan of the music. The voice acting was fine. However, not knowing japanese myself, I can't really judge what they're saying.

Story - Well it tried. A master in this case a Inakumi Tamer and his medium, an Inakumi ( dog god ). Oh look it spells dog god backward and forward, ahahah, ok enough of that. Anyways, the story has a been there done that feel. Well like I said it tried.

Character - Mediocre also. The main male character is simple-minded and can be a real pervert most of the time. His medium, Youko is cute I guess. Well she would probably appeal to viewers who's a fan of furries. Seeing she has a tail and all ( somtimes ). In any case, can't really say much bout characters either seeing they're not that well thought of.

In conclusion, the anime has it moments, such as the random funny situations the two lead characters get caught up in. However, the situations itself are rather idiotic and sometimes wrong and gross. The anime is mediocre at best. Worth a watch if you just sitting there looking for something to do.
