Magikano was a pretty good one, but it lacked in a good story. It deninitely had some funny parts and was enjoyable, but at the end of an episode I wondered if it actualy advanced the story. It just seems like only a few of all the episodes actually advanced the story and the characters' relationships.

As it got closer and closer to the end I wondered how it was going to wrap things up. The third to last episode i realized that it didn't even seem like was setting up for and ending. Episode 11 felt like it was the middle of the anime, not like one of the last episodes.

The one thing that made me mad was the ending. I knew it had to be one of the greatest endings to make up for poor story progression, but no. The last episode Resolved almost nothing. I thought that Haruo would end up with one of the girls, thats why don't think this one should be called a "love-romance". It set me up for a love story and ended up being a wacky comedy with somewhat of a story line.

Excluding all the bad parts, it was pretty good. I recommend this to anyone with a sense of humor, patience and a tolerence for a bad story line.

This is really more a parody of a harem show than an actual harem. The 'hero' has basically no interest in girls and no attraction to any of them. His main love interest has no personal interest in him until it's necessary to the plot in the last episode. The characters are all introduced as overt stereotypes in the first episode.

But don't be put off - it's a really well done show (until maybe the end). The art is great, very polished with lots of interesting superdeformed moments. Sound production is also high quality, if anyone notices these things. The script is clever and the voice actors are all highly talented and clearly having a ball.

***SPOILERS***
The only downside is the ending. I guess they didn't want to end with the usual pairing-off, and the recursive (look it up) nature of the ending is kind of interesting, but it feels like they didn't have time to polish the last few scripts, so it's a bit of a let down.

That said, Magikano is worth watching if you're into well-produced gag harem shows with lots of ecchi, stupid characters, and magic. I think this show is well suited for an "official" US release, and deserves to do well.

(Please note that I haven't given a score for Story - there really is no "story" as such.)

Magikano is surprisingly entertaining, despite the fact that it is a harem. Like all harems, there is no plot development (only ep 1, 12 and 13 really deal with the main plot). Like 99% of harems, the male lead is really lame. Like all harems, the presence of so many females makes the individual character development difficult and lacking. However, because of all the magic and craziness, Magikano is pretty entertaining and refreshing. Furthermore, the magic battle scenes are pretty fun to watch.

The story begins when this cute looking girl Mamiya transfers into Haoru's school. In order to rid herself of a curse, she has to somehow make Haoru into a 'real man'. Meanwhile, Haoru comes from a family of witches, but he himself has latent powers and is completely unaware of his family lineage, due to the overprotectiveness of all of Haoru's sister. As Mamiya ends up living with Haoru and sisters as a maid, she tries all sorts of schemes to make him 'into a man'. Meanwhile, all the other female witches who have affection towards Haoru are there to prevent her and each other from getting him. In order to protect their own interests, they end up using their magic wildly and randomly. From scenes of trying to manipulate Haoru's dreams, to putting magic in his food, etc... all sorts of plans are attempted... and hence the wild adventures begin.

Despite all the ecchiness and the lack of anything productive, I was able to enjoy Magikano because of the female characters. There were many crazy situations that made me chuckle. All the characters have contrasting and combative personalities that when put together really create a rowdy harem. Meanwhile, Haoru is easily forgettable since he is overshadowed by all the girls trying to win his affection. Nevertheless, I found it very fun to watch them battle it out, randomly use magic, and watch as various plans are foiled.

Overall, this is one of those animes in which you just watch it for the moment. It isn't particularly extraordinary in any sense, but it can be fun. I really liked this particular cast of harem characters, especially when they're all together. However, for those who want substance in plot and story in their anime, then put this aside for a time when you just want to watch cute and sexy magical girls aggressively duke it out at times.

Need some crazy comedy in your harem soup? Looking for a decent and recent reason to choke with laughter? Magikano should be on the top of the menu, and I guarentee that it will taste delicious!

Magikano starts crazy and stays crazy throughout the whole series, with one tried-over-but-fanservice-filled story after another, with a thankfully well built-up conclusion that starts three episodes from the last and doesn't feel rushed (like the majority of the endings I've seen...). Everything is entertaining, from the liberal use of super-deformity to the various advertisings from the Supernatural Science club. Fanservice runs rampant, and over-the-top reactions might crack your ribs. The only downpart is the outright bad idea for an ending - very nicely done, but they should have gone for the natural pick-a-girl ending instead.

While Magikano is not groundbreaking in any way, it will keep your neighbours awake with your howling. Recommended.

The first three episodes of Magikano were great! But then, things started going downhill in a hurry. Or I should say, things stayed exactly the same. There was just episode after episode after episode of "wacky hijinks", with no character development or relationship maturation what so ever. The first two episodes were bearable, but at the end of episode three I thought to myself "is it going to be like this the whole time...?" Even in Love Hina, the quinessential harem show of the past decade had time for some tender moments with all it's craziness. Somehow, Magikano thinks that it's going to gain fans just by being silly the whole time. Oh yeah, and having extremely dull magic fights every so often. I could just see the Ayumi resin statues being mass produced as the episode aired...

Granted, some of the situations are funny, but the executions was just dull. All the jokes run thin VERY quickly (and I'm extremely easy to make laugh). And yes, for the last three episodes, it tries to make relationships real, and does actually have a very original, very messed up, extremely satirical ending, it's too little too late. Magikano is strictly for those love their harem shows, and even then, I would direct them quickly to Miami Guns, while althought not technically "harem", is a much better show by the same creator. Watch that. NOW.

This anime is boring because since I've watch tons of harem/ecchi based anime, this is just the same. Everything from ecchi based anime is here, and none left out. There is really no story, as the story is only the first ep and the last ep. The rest is just plain ecchi which for this anime is average.

It's very surprising to see something in the realm of harem anime (probably the most overplayed genre in anime in the last decade, mecha and monster anime included) so watchable. This is probably because Magikano does not do two things that a lot of other harem series do:

1) it doesn't go on forever (only half a season)
2) it actually has a plot underneath the fanservice (the maid IS there for a purpose)

Not to mention that Magikano fills in so many harem stereotypes that after a while (maid, girl with animal ears, girl with a big-brother complex, the popular student council president, robot maid), it no longer becomes a harem, but a jab AT the harem genre, much like Love Hina was (though we are thankfully spared of perverted male hijinks for the most part. Hajime and Sora are actually HELPFUL to most of the female cast...B and C from Happy Lesson they ain't). Add in some great voice-acting and odd, but cute, character designs, and you have a harem series that's actually worth watching past the akward initial episodes.

Magikano is the kind of anime where if you're just being introduced to the Harem category you'll enjoy it. Seasoned veterans may want to pass on this one.

magikano was a very fun and refreshing series to the harem genre.magikano uses fanservice and wacky characters to create comedy.

animation- for a 2006 anime it was good and also very simple.the charcater design was very nice i thought each character was drawn differently and they use very good color in the animation to bring out the insanity of the chracters.

sound-the oppeningg was such a nice song it something that i find myself humming to quit alot. the funny thing is that throughout the series you can hear the charcters humming the oppening .

story- very fresh storyline its not your typical harem anime because well the cast is witches.this show is a comedy but there is a plot and that is how mamiya trys to get rid of the curse and the other is revealed in the last episode.

characters-this had a awesome cast my favorite characters were miaka i love when she went demon crazy it was so hilarious. the next fav was the money obssed fuuyuno and the rest of the cast was also very enjoyable.

value- this show is 13 episodes of pure fun and insanity so if your into that check it out you wont be disapointed.

all in all i love this show its fast paced fun and just has a awesome cast and funny cursedm cat panties.

Magikano is a pleasant and funny anime, containing quite a lot of fan service and a surprisingly entertaining storyline in the later stages.

The animation is good, every character is well drawn, and the anime is very pleasing to watch. It is what one would expect from an anime released in 2005 with nothing special added to it.

The sounds in this anime are brilliant. The way animal sounds are sometimes incorporated makes Magikano just the more entertaining to watch. The theme songs are great in my opinion, sang by the actual lead female cast! Although there does seem to be an over repetition of the background musics, it is barely noticable and doesn't make the anime any less interesting to watch.

The storyline starts off extremely strange and illogical, but it remains funny throughout. As the anime progresses, the storyline does improve. Several episodes in the anime do not contribute to the main storyline at all, but those are by no means any less interesting. I found the ending to be a bit sad, which ruined the consistency of the humour, but it was not disappointing like the endings of many other comical animes. The ending itself pretty much ensured that there would be no sequel to Magikano, which is a slight disappointment to me.

The cast of characters are excellent. For a start, not all of them are human. Magikano has some of the most ridiculously funny 'characters' I have seen. Despite many of them barely being developed at all during the series, most characters are so unique that there is no way one would ever get them messed up or forget who the character was. Most of the humour is generated by the characters, which makes them all the more valuable and entertainting to watch.

Magikano contains some of the funniest scenes I have seen to date, so, despite only being 13 episodes short, some scenes are definitely worth rewatching.

The anime began quite ordinarily, but it grew more and more interesting to watch by the episode. It was disappointing to know from the ending that a sequel would be very unlikely, but I thoroughly enjoyed Magikano and would stronly recommend it to anyone who enjoys comedy and doesn't mind a bit of fan service.

Wow this one is a blast!

It's a harem show, but it's actually painfully funny instead of painfully embarrassing. The main "I Dream of Genie" perfect girl who drops out of nowhere actually despises the main guy for exactly the same reason we all do (he's a wishy washy weakling).

You get the creepy incestuous sister except she's really family (none of that "not blood related" cop out here), and EVERYONE is creeped out by her! Including the brother!

And when the girls fight against each other, they actually pound on each other.

The male character isn't too bad either, but the Ayumi is the best part of the show. She is just short of being evil. Surprisingly, unlike other harem formula, there is actual chemistry between the two--just not love.

But then almost no harem anime seems to have a loving chemistry between the male and female lead just look at Maburaho, or Love Hina neither of which had a single bit of love between the main characters. Sure they had angst and some kind of wierd obsessive "this is our destiny" type hysterics in them, but not real love. Not even infatuation for the most part... Just some sick and perverted type of obsession...

... I just remembered how harem shows give me the creeps... <shudder>

This is not a harem show... It can't be... I actually want to watch more episodes, please tell me it's not going to end up like Mahoroba!

Guess I'll be the first to cast my comments on this anime. Let's start off by stating the obvious. It's a love-romance, comedy, and harem anime. Like all harems anime... lots of girls one guy. Anyways, the story revolve around Haruo who lives with three obsessive sisters. The eldest is obsessed with her brother(Haruo), the middle obsessed with food and working out(ironic isn't it?), and the youngest is obsessed with money. Their casual lives get thrown through a loop when Ayumi comes to try and make Haruo into a man(if you know what I mean ^^). Her reasons; she was cursed when she was younger and the only way is to awaking the slumbering powers within Haruo.

-The Good-
+Animations are easy on the eyes. Colorful making for a light-hearted and easy-going mood.
+Sometimes there moments that are truely funny.

-The Bad-
-It's a harem and recently there are way too many harems. It's gettn rather tedious because each anime with harems might have a different story but retain the same central idea of a guy surrounded with mass of girls.
-I'm not a fan of the openning and closing themes. Iunno why, but for me musics play a role in the sound department when it comes to anime.
-The cast of characters have a been there done that feel to em. Simple term, a bit unoriginal.
-There's a brother sister relationship in this. I find it a bit disturbing when it comes to "CLOSE" family relationships. But in a way that is cute, I guess.
-The protagonist, Haruo, is rather pathetic, nerdy-looking, and somewhat a wimp. Guess it has to appeal to the mass amount of male viewers some how. What better way than to design a dorky male protagonist that makes the viewer feels better. (No I'm not tryn to offend anyone.)

-Overall-
This anime is quite enjoyable. As shallow as it seem on the exterior it does have some potential. Some moments of the anime can become really hilarious. However, it is not original enough to give it an over the top ranking. I'll continue watching it and see if anything interest arise in the future.
