| An interesting take on the Alice books. It manages to catch the dark edge present in the original which is something most alices miss/ The very act of a character taking the story of another has a decidedly dark symbology very close to that of a rape and is depicted as both painful and emotional destroying. I don't think I have ever seen something quite like it in mainstream anime.
Overall the series is interesting and manages to complete the story (though what episode 13 is supposed to mean is beyond me since the series obviously concluded in episode 12. Perhaps this is a sort of compressed second season) Animation is up to the expected modern level though the backgrounds sometime are more developed than the characters.
Overall a worthwhile series if only for its uniqueness.

| I honestly dont know where the plot is going after watching 7 episodes. However, the originality of the concept, some pretty well known seiyuus, and good background music sucked me in.
Someone kick the OP for not indicating that this is prob a harem anime, cause it definitely is. As far as I know, only one main significant guy (Takion hasnt played a big role thus far), surrounded by very obsessive and overly curvaceous moe-ish girls.
All in all, this is an alright series, and I do enjoy it. Not for any specific reason. But the action sequences are pretty tight =). Im looking forward to seeing more story develop as the series progresses.
Another thing, the 13 episodes correspond to the 13 chapters in Caroll's Alice in Wonderland; however, the titles have NOTHING to do with the episode content. That really set me off. If anything, I think the Alice franchise was just a contrived way to make bunny girls a regular occurance >P

| I myself am an Alice fan (the original story by Lewis, mind you), so watching Kagihime has been a weird experience for me.
To me, the graphics looks average and a little too vibrant. While some people like that, unfortunately, I don't. In fact, (personal opinion) I think that the graphics in Gokujou Seitokai looked slightly better. And no, occasionally using CG doesn't make the environment look "awesome", if the characters do not blend in with it.
Sound was alright, I guess. The OP was quite forgetable for me (I'm listening to it right now for a mental refresher), but otherwise, quite sentimental and has a calming sensation. Unfortunately, I hardly noticed most of the background sound/music.
I thought the characters were kinda weak in Kagihime. They were quick to change their opinions and ideology, their personality were sometimes controversial, and the seiyuu... I didn't really like Kiraha's seiyuu. But what the heck, Arisu's voiced by Shimizu Ai! That's good enough for me! But I still want to add, that the REST of the VAs were terrible. The male protoganist sounds likea wimp (he's pretending to be one, which makes it even more irritating), and the other girls' voices were as if the seiyuus were purposely squeaking, which really gives me the chill.
Value and Enjoyment, ... well, I can't say I hate Kagihime, but I can't say I like it either. Till date, things seem a tad too messy, and I'm still sorting out my feelings about the anime. So, there's a high chance that I might come back and give it a higher score as more episodes are released.
Finally, the story. Sure, it's original, it's new, it's unique. But it doesn't belong on screen. I'm pretty sure there are some deeper meaning to the characters' actions and choices (which would've been great in a novel), but on screen, it's like creators have yet to nail down the personality of each character, making the characters seem unrealistic (that's an understatement. Truth is, I was pretty much annoyed by all the characters, including Arisu).
But in the mean time... confused, confused, confused. Mr Carroll must be rolling in his grave at 100revs per second right now. Still, I'm not going to ignore the possibility that it's gotten off to a slow and weird start. So I'll still stick to it for a couple more episodes and let ya know what I think.

| -Based on 5 Episodes-
Five episodes review might seem like a rush to conclusion. However, in reality I've seen this general chemistry all too often. Anywho, I believe this anime should also fall under the Love-Romance ad Harem genre also. Mainly due to the fact the guy, Aruto, is surrounded by women. Some of which has "feelings" for him. Now onto the review.
The animations in this anime are good. The background details are beautiful. However, when it comes to the character that is where the anime falters. The eyes are way too big in my opinion. Some of the female characters are "TOO" curvy. There is a limit to how curvy women should be corsette or not. Look at Kirika and you see what I mean. Anyways that's bout it.
Sound - Ok.. seriously it's in Japanese I can't tell if the acting is bad or good. Nonetheless since it's in Japanese I'm guessing better than it's dub. Mainly because most dubbed anime I have seen when compared to Japanese anime, the voice actors for Japanese versions tend to be more emotional in their acting. The music is decent. I didn't really like it.
Story - The story is original. However, the main theme is kinda uninteresting. It is set in the late 19th century/ early 20th century. The male protagonist is over obsessed with the "Alice In Wonderland" story and wants to write his own. He also dreams of a story call "Endless Alice". Then the female protagonists are Alice Users. They basically fight eachother in a special area locked from the outside world and somewhat seperated into a different dimension. Anyways, Aruto is the only male to be able to enter this "special dimension" and he holds the ability to copy the stories of the defeated Alice Users. Well that sounded cool and all, however, I doubt anyone out there really cares or know much about the "Alice in Wonderland" story. Sorry people watching the cartoon and playing Kingdom Hearts does not count. It sounds all and well but the theme is rather lame.
Characters - Aruto is the male protagonist who wields the power to copy story and obsessed with "Alice". His sister Kiraha is obsessed with her brother. Arise(pronounced like Alice which is stupid) is also obsessed with "Alice". Kirika is obsessed with researching on Aruto to find out what so special about him. Yea.. it's a world of obsession.
In conclusion the anime poses a unique story which is quite refreshing per se. However, due the lame theme, lack of attention to character animations, and the characters' personalities cause the series from being more than an average anime. It is worth a watch.
-P.S-
Review Conclusion May Change In The Future As The Anime Progress.

| I think that the gorgeous background music is the only reason I'd watch such a hodgepodge of pseudo-historic setting, poorly animated (and designed) characters, and confused plot. Granted, it sounded nice and it had potential .. some of the 19th-century European backdrops looked very nice ... but once you see the chracters .. eww .. I don't know what possessed them to use such bizarre and unattractive designs when it's already a stretch to include magical girls. And there are character inconsistencies up the wazoo .. Kirihara-san's sister especially. And naming someone "Alice-gawa Alice" is so ridiculous! Ah well, I guess I'll watch a bit more to back up my claims, but that's the sole reason I'd waste my time with this ... sorry for being harsh. There were a few cute moments .. maybe ..
