| Street Fighter Alpha: Generations is a 45 minute long OVA following Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie made in 2005 by a totally different production studio.
The quality of the animation is clearly much more modern than all previous Street Fighter anime, but the number of graphical glitches and inconsistencies are also more apparent, and that makes the overall animation of the OVA substandard for a 2005 production.
The soundtrack is excellent. The music accompanies the scenes very well, and the soundtracks are not disappointing either. The only downside would be the voice acting, which is sub-standard compared to previous Street Fighter anime.
The storyline does contradict somewhat with the storyline of Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie, from which this OVA is supposed to follow. The reason would most likely due to the change of production studio. Nevertheless, this inconsistency makes the OVA more difficult to watch and understand. The beginning of this OVA is also quite confusing, and the ending is somewhat inconclusive. As part of the Street Fighter series, the storyline in this OVA is a total disaster. As a stand alone OVA, the storyline is still a disaster, but to a slightly lesser extent.
The inconsistencies with previous Street Fighter anime aside, the cast of characters of this OVA, although interesting, lack development. Some characters look, sound, and are named far too similar to one another, making the OVA even more confusing to watch.
The fight scenes are quite fun to watch, but the storyline would no doubt make even the most loyal of Street Fighter fans confused. It is for that reason that I am doubtful whether this OVA would be enjoyed by anyone, and I am reluctant to recommend Street Fighter Alpha: Generations to any anime viewer.

| This Street Fighter movie concentrated on what most of us was interested in, the story of Ryu and Gouki. So, it should be good right?
Personally, I enjoyed watching this short movie, the scenery was nicely drawn, there was the occasional badly drawn facial movement, but those didn’t dent my enjoyment hat much. The story tells how Gouki became evil and shows the fight we’ve all been waiting for in a Street Figther Movie, Ryu vs. Gouki. The fight itself wasn’t much of a let down, the action was satisfying. Although don’t expect too much mind-blowing stuff during it, as for action, I have seen better.
This is surely one of the more compact Street Fighter movies, there’s minimal time wasting on things that didn’t matter. Although there was a chuck of life in the temple, this was a lead up to the fight. There was however one aspect that wasn’t really up to scratch – the music, sound effects were great, don’t get me wrong, just the music that should have been more imaginative. The raw drum and bass beats did fit in, but there wasn’t much creativity displayed with the use of music.
A welcome installment for any Street Fighter fan, otherwise, you could watch this with an open mind. It’s always hard watching an OVA not having known much about what happened previously.
