| Beck's charm is how realistic the characters are. Although there is a lot of artistic license used in terms of story events, everything feels as if it could potentially be the story of your best friend who is in a band. The way how every event seems to flow from one to another is amazing.
Even though some things are bit rushed in the story (for example all the things that happen to the band from one concert to gig to road show to another), the strong cast of characters makes up for it. This manga is not too lazy to introduce a large cast of characters. BECK does not solely focus on the band members, but introduces a vast array of other band members, music industry professionals, etc. BECK's character personalities are truly what makes this manga one of the most entertaining and easy to get addicted too.
For those people who feel that the lack of any sound in a music manga, don't worry. Even though the anime's manga OST was pretty awesome and totally enhanced the atmosphere, the lack of sound does not detract from the enjoyment factor. Instead, it makes up for it by having a bunch of great stories and character relations that make you wonder how BECK's fate will be like.
As for the weakness... well I could potentially see someone not enjoy this if they did not like any of the characters. This anime relies SOLELY on the character chemistry and the drama in the band's life. But other than that, give this a try!
