The second season is for people who haven't yet gotten enough laughs in season one of School Rumble. Expect more humor, more character development (actual tense moments), more relationships, and less of Karasuma (thank goodness).

While the majority of the second season is very good, it takes on the "arc" approach at certain times. It will dedicate a few episodes to a specific subject such as "basketball" for example. Luckily, it does so while still progressing the plot line and character relations.

Overall, this was a hilarious and very enjoyable harem/romance/comedy.

It has been a while since I saw the first season of School rumble. I don't remember much of it, except it was a lot of fun. So I had to check this one out too.

Overall, it is a shallow but very fun comedy.

I'd have the say. Most second seasons are worst than the first. I don't know what it was but it just seemed School Rumble lost a lot of its originality of its first season and some of the characters begun to fade and disappear. It isn't as good as the classic although I'm glad Yakumo was brought in more.

Might be one of the greatest comedies all time (not just the 2nd series but the whole thing). Actually, for me it is one of the greatests.

Animation is ok, nothing special.

Sound: superb seiyuus but you already knew that from the 1st series.

The rest: 10. This series is mainly a comedy, and for that it is really great. I can't remember when I laughed so loud last time (maybe when I was watching GTO a half a year ago?). Funny story through the whole series, though 3-4 episodes could be skipped, they were too abstract. Superb characters but again we knew that from the 1st series.
Rewatch value: 100%.
Enjoyment: 100%. I didn't laugh this much long ago.

1st series was great and the 2nd one isn't falling behind either.
Actually, it makes me wonder why it has only 7.8 now with 15 reviews...

School Rumble season 2 departs from the crazy classroom situations, and focuses a lot more on the love story progression. Well, more accurately it focuses more on character development. A lot more 'feelings' are expressed, couples are created, and sentiments are developed. All the characters who essentially have little potential in finding a girl have a very minimal role in this series - e.g. Hanai, Nara. Thankfully, they also toned down Karasuma's role in this season and I didn't have to roll my eyes at Tenma as she tried her clumsy best to get his attention.

Contrary to many other people's thoughts, I enjoyed season 2 more than season 1. True, season 1 has more wacky comedy or crazy stuff, but it also fails in developing interesting character relations. Season 2 actually made feel attached to the characters and care/cheer for them whereas Season 1 just made me laugh and then think 'how silly.' In other words, season 2 really takes the story one step higher. Now we get to see Harima's relationship improve with Yakumo, Eri and even Tenma! Truly a great blessing. Needless to say, because of the increased character relationships, we also get more of the 'love' in love comedy.

There are those that are irked by the fact that it is 'apparent' that no solid resolution or decision will be made. They are annoyed by the fact that the plot goes off in some tangent and makes no 'sense'. They are 'disappointed' by the fact that they were expecting a lot. But to those of you who said that, can you honestly say that you are better off without the sequel? Did you not feel some sort of stronger bond towards the characters? Did you not understand or appreciate their feelings? If not, then I don't know what to say other than that you were looking for the wrong things at the wrong times.

Season 2 just has a different overall feel to it. Although a bit less intense than season 1, the jokes in season 2 are just as interesting. We still get the same familiar Harima doing his best to impress Tenma (but ending up hitting on the other girls indirectly), Tenma being her silly gluttonous self, Eri awkwardly expressing her feelings, Akira and her sly tactics, Yakumo with her gentle sweetness, etc. The only difference is that the characters feel a little more genuine.

School Rumble 1 must be watched before School Rumble 2 in order to fully appreciate the character developments. While it may be still be inconclusive, the romance situations feel a little more realistic, genuine and deep. The clamor for 'resolving' the love-triangles is just plain silly - even angsty love animes rely on such stuff to keep their material going. At least School Rumble has comedic jokes to help the enjoyment factor. For those who are considering watching this, by all means do so. School Rumble Ni Gakki is a well-done continuation of the first season, there is no reason not to watch this.

This is obviously the sequel to School Rumble, an anime that is funny beyond belief. Did this anime in any way surpass the original? No. Did this anime stand up to the original in any way? Yes.

This anime has the same underling plot as the original, however this time it is no where near as convincing. It feels like a big rehash of the original except no where near as well executed. Then again, what does one expect from this type of comedy sequel. So I can’t say it failed in being a sequel because it had its utterly hilarious moments, it had its dramatic character developing moments and all in all was a fun experience. It does well in that aspect in that all it does is continue your story of lovable characters doing crazy things. It may not be as fresh as the original since the story never makes sense and some of the jokes are repeated over and over again to the point where you just want to skip the episode – this mainly happened through the middle portion of the show when it seemed that they ran out of material. Another problem is obviously the fact that the end is yet again non-conclusive to the “romance” issues faced in the anime. Although the ending is still good, it leaves you with a bitter sweet feeling since you know there will more than likely be 4 seasons of school rumble.

The story starts off good; it seems to spin off nicely from the original. But after some episodes the whole show takes a 180 and becomes dry because it becomes apparent that the producers are not going to resolve anything and that the jokes are becoming less and less funny with the plot becoming more and more ridicules. The fillers were poor since the humor in them is below par, not something found in the original fillers. The “humor” can become a bit much after a while since it becomes more and more repetitive and more and more annoying.

The show has a good ending sequence though for the most part, the relationships between Harmia, Yakumo, Tenma and Eri are all well done for the few episodes and moments that focus on them. This will more than likely be a series only appreciated once we have seen all 4 seasons because by then we will have become attached to the different characters. Hopefully by then they can at least come up with an original ending as not to make the sequels worthless.

Overall not bad for a sequel, although it is nowhere near as good as the first (but what can you expect when the original was just so damn good). I recommend this to the all who enjoyed the first because it is basically a continuation of developing the characters in very wacky circumstances, even if the humor at times is a let down. I think you will enjoy it as much I did. I did not expect much because I figured this show will be 4 seasons long. So just enjoy the character development and various jokes until then and hopefully if a memorable ending is present this sequel and ones to follow will mean more than what they do right now.

I've just finished watching School Rumble 2. After watching this series I'am a little bit dissapointed because I was expecting a lot from this anime. Well there were still some parts in this anime that I like but I think that there were some episodes that should not be included, from my opinion I think the anime should focus more on the storyline.

But I must say that school rumble 2 has a better and clearer ending than school rumble 1, well I still have high hopes for the next season. But overall I still recommend this anime esp. to people who loves comedy and high school life.

Ahh... School Rumble, one of my favourite comedic anime series. Ni Gakki continues the story of the first season, following quite closely to the manga.
Somehow, I felt that Ni Gakki lost alot of the magic from the first season of School Rumble. School Rumble was fresh and really funny. The story was very creative and the characters' interaction was done very well. In Ni Gakki, the level of jokes were toned down considerably and the story seems very incoherent sometimes.
I am not sure if reading the manga after finishing the first season affected my perception of Ni Gakki but I can do say that I enjoyed the first season alot more. Even so, I still rate Ni Gakki to be a well done anime, recommended to all.

Now that the Second Semester is over, how did this sequel fare when compared to the first? After all, this is supposed to be a continuation.

Can you say the word "random"?

This is exactly the impression SR Second Semester gave me. But I shall cover that point later.

There are slight improvements to the graphics and animation, but considering the high standards of animation in 2006, I can only say this is slightly above average. I think the producers spent a lot more effort back in Season 1 in terms of artwork. Second Semester utilized the "Chibi" versions of the characters too much for my taste. But that might just be my personal opinion.

The sound...the OP and Ed are decent, but not great. Seriously, the theme songs are way inferior compared to the catchy song of the first season. The ED theme of the first season was also more creative than this. Many reused bgm, nothing groundbreaking.

The story...as I and other reviews probably mentioned, is very random. The first few episodes were of good quality, because it showed promise of an actual storyline. But after the first 10 episodes or so, it's almost complete filler to the very end. The relationships were never resolved nor did it progress any further. The fillers were filled with random events such as Hanai's random adventures in another civilization or a sea cruise. I would've have enjoyed it if the humor was well played out. I was a fan of the original series because of the humor and could only feel cheated to see such poor attempts at comedy despite the fact that this IS a comedy show.

Most of the original School Rumble comedy built its trademark on situational comedy. But Second Semester's humor came out flat, uninspired and rather lame. I could hardly even find myself chuckling while watching this. I mean, why would you watch comedy if not for a good laugh? A failed attempt.

The bottom line is: This one is way inferior to the first season. If there is a Third term, I would beg for them to do much better than this.

Hmm... the curse of setting a bar to high to hurdle. Ni Gakki certainly illustrates this point.

To be fair, School Rumble was probably the funniest show I`d ever seen. To add to that, it was done in such an original way, with such a great cast, it was already going to be hard to top.

Animation:

The improvement here is obvious. The diversity of situations the zany cast go through is mind boggling. (Litterally, but more on that later.)

Everything from their typical day of school life, to their adventures through prehistoric villages, cruise ships, school plays, and even an intense hand of poker animated in a musky `gangster` style.

Sound:

The Opening theme: "Sentimental Generation" by Ami Tokito follows the trend of a cheerful and upbeat intro to the show.

The Ending theme: "Kono Namida ga Arukara Tsugi no Ippo to Naru" also by Ami Tokito was less cheerful, more heartfelt, but still retained an upbeat feeling.

The second Ending theme: "Futari wa Wasurechau" by Ami Koshimizu & Mamiko Noto (The voice actresses for Tenma and Yakumo Tsukamoto) is a cute and happy go lucky tune. The illustration of the two girls over Harima at the end was a good way to lead out.

The voice cast remained the same, so no changes there.

Story:

Where our 1st series maintained a noticable progression of relationships and story material, this is not the case in Ni Gakki. I can count on one hand how many episodes actually progressed the underlying `plot` of the School Rumble universe.

More than anything, Ni Gakki was a random series of episodes, with extremely slight things linking even a few of the episodes together. There was a couple events that took place over the course of 2 episodes, but then the events of that episode either seemed forgotten, or irrelevent.

The biggest problem in this shows story, is that is nothing but a tease. In a few select instances, it seems that the major relationships will have some kind of breakthrough, either negative or positive, but that doesn`t happen.

Credit to the the story is due for advancing some of the relationships between lesser characters, but our major ones remain unchanged, even throughout a 26-episode trek.

Character:

The personalities and appearences of all our favorites from the original are back and intact. The interactions between characters are as fun as they ever were, they just don`t develop much beyond the first season.

The new characters (Sagano and Satsuki) play very minor roles, but there is focus more on other characters in this series. Primarily: Yakumo, Imadori, Ichijou, Asou and Lala.

Value:

Without a real clear story, Ni Gakki takes a more random approach to its storytelling, making it kind of hard to sit through sometimes. It`s still a worthwhile watch to everyone who was a fan of the original.

There are instances where they fill episodes with sequences with characters or events that don`t even pertain to this series at all. Those parts weren`t just confusing, they were annoying, and I skipped them without a second thought.

Ni Gakki was a very hit-or-miss show. There are some extremely memorable episodes, and even its fair share of hilarious sequences. Even more than the first series, 2nd Term will hit you with a serious situation than totally refute it with something random and hilarious to end a scenario.

With such a strong cast returning, and at least half the laughs of the original, (that`s still quite alot) Ni Gakki is something worth the watch.

A weakened story with hit-or-miss comedy, but in essence, it is still School Rumble fun, and that in itself is enough to watch this show.

It is said that a sequel is always inferior to its predecessor. While sometimes it's not the case, most of the time it's true. Sadly, School Rumble 2 is no exception. I doubt they have planned to span these series for such lenghts at the beginning, I'm almost sure they got an idea to prolong them after they've seen its growing popularity. That's when art becomes money. That's when the main idea is lost and everything is filled with soulless commerce. If anybody of you have played Final Fantasy X-2, I think you should understand what I am talking about. Something what is created solely for getting money, something what is forced rather than created... It can never be good. While watching School Rumble 2 I was constantly getting ideas of a dark room filled with people who are discussing how to fill those mere 26 episodes without giving away too much story so term 3 could be possible. Yes, School Rumble 3 is definitely under way, not like I'm happy about that, or excited, as I was when I heard about School Rumble 2...

The fact is, School Rumble, got old. The jokes are repeated over and over, and rather than being romantic comedy, School Rumble 2 became a comedy with romance elements, which was in my opinion the finishing blow which destroyed the series. In actuality, from those 26 episodes I have watched, 18 or more were simply fillers. Some getting as bad as showing minor character whose name I didn't even bother to remember doing his useless routine. Or particularly episode 21, which I have already seen a lot of people complaining about, was a parody of Sailor Moon. Unfortunately, the parody part was so poorly done that even I, who has seen Sailor Moon recently, didn't force a smile even once during it.

School Rumble, as well, manages to introduce the most irritating type of fillers I have ever experienced, and I believe they are School Rumble's autentical creations. Those who've seen the School Rumble OVA knows what I'm talking about... During usual fillers you can almost always see some character development or at least the most minor change in the development in the story, yet, School Rumble's fillers are not the case. Creating a parallel space, with different time and different story, as well as whole environment, and tossing all characters from original School Rumble in it doesn't make it School Rumble, at least for me it doesn't. Really, even by doing this, School Rumble doesn't have such a strong cast of characters who could carry the show on their own backs. The only thing I was interested in, and liked the first installement of the series, was the crazy romance of the show, which destroyed anything known as love triangles and created something which's more likely a dodecagon with its all respective angles having a diagonal. Sadly, School Rumble 2 destroys everything what the first School Rumble has created, becoming nothing more than a mediocore filler filled school comedy.

Recommending this, is actually not a hard thing. I can only recommend this to the ones who've already seen the first School Rumble, it's logical since second installement picks up just where the first one left out. But I can not imagine anyone enjoying this anime much, after seeing what original School Rumble is capable of.

After the 'nearly-got-10/10-from-me' first season, in comes School Rumble 2 to try and muster enough stuff to get my elusive marks. And in some respects, it manages to do things right but also manages to hiccup in some areas.

First off, Anyone who loved the first season would find somethign loveable about the second season, whether its the confused relationship between HarimaxEri/Yakumo or the random displays of comedy by the various characters. Or even the drama played out nicely in some parts of this anime, there is something for everyone here.
Last season, i complained that the lack lustre ending episodes and inconclusiveness of the main relationship between HarimaxTenma, which prevented it from getting a great 10/10. Now this season, the ending is much better to a degree (yet still fails to meet high expectations) and the relationship is now less ocnfusing and futile than before. Its really about the relationship between the characters which gets the highest marks for me, coupled with the obscene comedy and sketches the anime plays out. HarimaxEri/Yakumo are always a joy to watch because of the somewhat awkardness they both display, still the same attitude as the first season but worth watching again in the second season.

What pays off nicely in the romance and comedy department, where the only repetitive joke is Lala and Imadori, the anime suffers with far too many characters and not enough screentime to know them. The people in the basketball team and class 2-C are rarely shown aside form the odd arc and more were needed from them considering they were needed to a degree in this anime where seeing the same old characters is a big hit and miss for me.
Considering what i said about the relationship, the story goes .. uhh.. nowhere, i suppose, it does develop undoubtedly but ultimately it never feels concluded and thankfully, a third term is upon us and that will be the time to show to me that School Rumble can finally acheive my highest mark of 10/10. But for now, this season is just as good as the first season, its wacky, randomness is a blessing in diguise, its great characters make the show, and the comedy is one of the finest ever shown on anime form. School Rumble fot the win!

Overall: 9/10
Grade: A

school rumble 2, ni gakki. in my opinion, better than even the original school rumble.

in all honesty the two series are comparable. i think the animation went up a notch, as the drawings were nothing short of impressive. the sound was still pretty good, but not as addictive as season 1 admittedly.

but now for the important matters: the story and characters were still admirable as ever. the crazy feel of school rumble 1 did not lessen. if anything, the story got better. i'm sure theres a schism related to how ppl feel about the more series matters thrown into the anime. i for one, love it. the more dramatic elements and serious moments were, in my opinion, something that made the 2nd season much better than the first.

despite all this, i cannot give school rumble 2 a rating that i would give to an all time favorite. don't get me wrong, this anime was awesome from start to finish. its just that it doesn't blow me away. main reasons why might include the sometimes awkward episodes (such as the shoot out in the school). another is the rushed ending. once again, although not as badly as the first season, the ending was ...lets just say, not what i was hoping for. though i must admit, the second season's ending was much better than the first by FAR. and for that reason, and the others i listed, i rate school rumble 2 a definite notch up from its predecessor.

DEFINETELY recommended for comedy and school life fans

School Rumble 2nd Term is in everyway, a worthy successor to its first season two years ago, it is funnier, more characters and improved in its storyline that there is much more depth besides its comedies.

The animation is the same as its first season, with its simple yet effective art style coupled with colourful drawings continues to have one of the best animation in anime.

Excellent seiyuu yet again with a lot of popular voice actress reprising their roles in this anime. And quite a few of them become famous directly because of this anime. Each character are full of emotions and exaggerations, making them all memorable and easy to recognize.

The story is much more developed than the first season. Unlike before where it only contains a simple storyline and mostly comedic slapstick, this time around, while retaining most, if not all of its comedies, the story and its characters are all developed much further. The relationships between the main characters are much more complex than before, yet you don't feel overwhelmed by it because of its slapsticks.

The characters are very well done, with a couple of the supporting characters getting more screen time before getting back to the main story. And unlike other anime, the viewers can recognize most of them if they are all on screen at once, this just shows how good the series is in terms of making good characters.

This overall, is another reason why every anime fan should watch School Rumble. If you are already a SR fan, there should be no reason why you're not watching this. And if you are not a SR fan, there is even more reason for you to go watch all of SR!

I understand that the title is different, but why not put this under the original School Rumble as well? It's a 'second season' and is a continuation, not some totally different story.

In any case, the second season is a little disappointing compared to the impact of the first. Since it's not a totally new story, no points fall for that 'reason', but when the development goes nowhere, it's really irritating. All the main love triangles are not solved yet, and only 2-3 couples ever actually gone out. Root for any factions all you want, but none of them are resolved yet, nor does it feel like they went anywhere.

So after 52 episodes (165 manga chapters), two semesters have gone by. It makes sense, but I'm getting agitated by no development. I hope the third semester will solve everything and not disappoint.

Acceptable followup to season 1. Story is slightly lacking so far, but it seems to be picking up. There were some fairly useless arcs and kinda annoying characters introduced, but they've passed. The main characters and storyline are golden. I eagerly await every ep and could watch SR forever. Very highly recommended, super entertaining and funny. Don't expect serious or deep stuff here, but it's not low quality either. Top notch comedy.

Ah, School Rumble. Coming back in a second season, is apt to convince many naysayers that there is in fact, someone up there listening to our requests. Having watched 4 episodes so far, I have not been disappointed so far. The series is one of the few series which is a comedy, but at the same time, is able to give such a thorough level o character development to everyone...there are no minor characters!

The most well executed comedy of any genre in recent memory, School Rumble 2 has more of those zany relationship pairs/triangles/quads/etc that we all rooted for in season 1. IF you havent seen season 1 yet, shame on you, stop reading this review, and go catch it.

Great animation quality, with very clever CG use, over the top exaggerated humor which will appeal to most anyone, and a world-class VA cast. The OP/ED are very nice (although I liked season 1's a bit more). Most of all, School Rumble S2 is beginning to show its capabilities of not just being another romantic comedy, but an original entity all its own.

What else is there to say? School Rumble is AWESOME! No matter what anime genre you are into, you will find something to like in it. Season 2 is simply there because of the hiatus since season 1...to me, it feels like a natural extension of the original series. Go watch it!
