This is some kind of teaser for the actual TV series, and all the events in this "movie" is also found in the series. Thus, this one is more or less pointless in the sense that it doesn't add anything to the "story" of AD. It fulfills the role of teaser quite well, though; most of the characters get introduced rather properly, and you get a good taste of what the series is all about.

The animation is better than the real series, even though I think they focused a bit too much on making the girls beautiful or even sexy. That is not what Azumanga Daioh is about, if you ask me.

The "happi hen" song in the end is gorgeous, but a better take exists on the soundtrack CD.

Since it is only five minutes long, you could as well watch this, you might actually like seeing the wierd girls look good for a change. Just don't expect anything new.

Apparently, this movie is meant to be seen before the series as a primer. However, I watched it after, so I had already seen everything it was priming me for. Suffice it to say, though I enjoyed it a little out of nostalgia, this isn't really an indication of the series' quality. On the other hand, it is only 5 mins long (with at least a minute consisting of the ending song), so it won't kill you

Supposed to be a preview for the Azumanga Daioh TV series, this "movie" is a scant 5 minutes long (just like the mini-episodes contained in the 26 episodes of the TV series) and, while being a good representation of the type of comedy in the series, it is not nearly enough on its' own to provide much amusement.

The animation is good; if you are expecting animation this good in the TV series, however, you will be dissapointed. The animation for the TV series is not as good, though it accomplished what it sets out to do.

The soundtrack isn't very good; the TV series' soundtrack is much better. The ending song is fairly bad and there is no opening song to speak of. The voice actors were, however, decent.

Story? If you are expecting a story in this 5-minute "movie" you will be sorely dissapointed. This movie is merely a sample of the Azumanga Daioh expereince, and is only a few random scenes involving the characters of the series.

As to the characters, most of them have brief 5-10 second parts in this movie, which does little to showcase them, and which, while amusing for some of the scenes, does nothing to develop them.

I would only reccomend this movie to those who have seen the TV series and want to watch more of the same. If you did not like Azumanga Daioh, there will be nothing in this short movie that will change your opinion of the series.

The Azumanga Daioh Movie is a sort of intrudoctory trailer for the TV-series. It shows us some of the characters in the series, such as Mihama Chiyo and Kasuga Ayumu (better known as Osaka, originating from where she transferred), .

It's well animated with very fluid motions, if you watch this before you watch the series it might get a bit hyped.

During the trailer we see a few scenes taken from the series which lets us familiarize with the characters.

It's worth watching if you're new to Azumanga Daioh, or if you're a big fan who just has to see it all.
If you've already seen the series, then there isn't anything new in this trailer, except for the better animations.
