Take V for vendetta, Full Metal Panic and Death Note, blend together and you get Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. A show that has managed to captivate me from beginning to end, like only a select few others.

Code Geass features vibrant animation, very adaptive to the situation. When our main lead Zero is scheming, we have a dark atmosphere, yet when we are in the midst of highschool mayhem, everything is bright and cheerful. Character designs are hardly original, yet they are very carefully chosen and really represent the animated characters. Furthermore, Code Geass is undoubtedly, a mecha action series (one of the best out there). In the first half of the series, the action is hardly notable, but as the series progresses, action really starts to come off the screen, which is simply awesome. The only complaint I have regarding animation is the fanservice. It's hardly there, but when it is, it doesn't go unnoticed, and Code Geass can really do without. Still, animation is top notch, but this anime shines on a whole different level.

Sound, is where Code Geass shines. The voice acting is no less than top notch. Code Geass is a very theatrical series, and the main character, Zero/Lelouch only apmlifies that. The voice actor for the Emperor could've been cast better, but the VA for Lelouch/Zero makes up for everything. The moment the masked terrorist Zero appears, there is no more room for fun, happiness, carelessness, or just fooling around. Instead, a powerful voice takes over the role of a merciless face, to command the destruction of the very world as it is. Fukuyama Jun has done his role to perfection and beyond, as Lelouch/Zero. The rest of the voice actors are also very noteworthy. When a British noble appears, the voice is very befitting for the part.
Yet, voice acting alone doesn't make this anime shine. The BGM is on par with the voice acting. Despair and uneasy tension are often indicated and amplified with high notes from violins (players of the game "Supreme Commander" will recognize this) and as such, Zero's dark victories also have their own heavy dark sound. BGM was as crucial in Code Geass as it was in Escaflowne, and it was done to near perfection.

Story is hard to review. For some reason, Code Geass was made as a 2x25 ep series, instead of 1x50. This has a serious negative effect on the story. This is because the story does contain a few little arcs, yet there is a clear red line throughout both seasons of Code Geass. In the first season, we are presented with the high school anti-hero Lelouch. He obtains the power to command anyone, yet his power has some limitations. Lelouch plans to bring the Empire of Britannia down. He is a master strategist, and schemes his way from terrorist to warlord. His character drives the story, the very plot of Code Geass. Although Lelouch is but a terrorist, his actions do make sense and it's very easy to root for him. Where this goes wrong however, is that the first season raises numerous questions which are not answered until the very end of R2 (second season). As such, there is no ending in the first season. Still, it's no less than intriguing to watch Lelouch plot and scheme with the sole objective to destroy Britannia.
Although our main character is in high school, this should not mean that we get some episodes that are comletely devoted to high school mayhem. Alas, although somewhat amusing, we do get such episodes, and more often than not, they are right after an episode when a cataclysmic fight happened and a character died. The progression of the story of Code Geass is too often hampered by this abrupt change of pace, mood and setting and surely, the series could've done without.

When we talk about characters, only two come to mind in Code Geass (at least in the first season): Zero/Lelouch and Suzaku. The first is our high school student who wants change using his scheming terrorist alter ego, the second is the man who wants change by playing by hte rules. A man who solely cares about results and a man who cares more about the means than the actual result. Both create a great mind breaker as to what defines power. Intellect, or brute force? Zero/Lelouch uses his wits to create a nationalist army from mere terrorists, yet he treats them as pawns on a chess board. Suzaku uses none but himself, and is the embodiment of virtue. Lacking strategic insight, he overcomes obstacles by sheer physical ability, rather than intellectual abiity. Both characters outsmart eachother in their own unique ways, yet they are unable to defeat eachother. Out of these two characters, Zero/Lelouch is definately the most intriguing one, if only because he is also the main character. It's truely a joy to watch how our main character gets his desired results. He is ambitious, compassionate, merciless, brutal, cold, affectionate, pathetic and powerful, all depending on the situation, and his feelings drive him to act, so that he will get what he wants.

Code Geass has great rewatch value, and it's a show that makes you think, root for right or wrong, judge brutality and mercy, but most of all, it's increadibly fun to watch. It has enough small problems that prevent it from being a classic, yet it has every element to be a "must watch" anime. I know only a handful of shows that are so compelling to watch as Code Geass, and that is a very good thing. Do note that the second season (R2) is the actual continuation of Code Geass, and both seasons should really have been one.

Despite this, I can recommend Gode Geass to jsut about everyone. It has everything you can wish for and more.

This was a good show. The animation caught my attention, and then everything else decided to follow. I have to be a little objective for this show, as there were some annoying plot points and very little tension breakers. It pretty much angered me or upset me the whole time. that's just mean. This is the only review I have made so far where I didn't place a 10 on the enjoyment. It's upsetting, because it was good, but I need some relax time in a show every once in a while. On to the review.

Code Geass…well..believe the hype people this series is first class all the way and in my humble opinion it even surpasses the often compared Death Note series.

This review is based on BOTH seasons of Code Geass which really run through as one long saga anyway.

Animation

Initially this kind of threw me off because the characters looked kind of wide eyed and girly with thin bodies and yu-gi-oh-ish hairstyles never-the-less it all works very well. Action scenes are excellent with surprisingly cool mecha designs/battles as well as a cool opening and closing sequence for both seasons of CG.

Sound

I had the unusual pleasure of watching each season in a different language (lol) season 1 in English Dub and Japanese Dub w/ subs for Season 2. I found the character voices to be flawless in both cases especially when Lelouch would give the suicide command “Yes your Majesty” in English then “Yes my lordo” in Japanese ROFL.
Again Both Opening & Ending sequences where good no complaints at all.

Story

In the midst of two warring nations a seemingly ordinary young man gains an unforgivable power that will ultimately change the tides of the entire world.

This is the basic premise to Code Geass

This story is a wild rollercoaster of Revenge, War, Tragedy and sometimes a tiny hint of romance which captures and amazes. Upon watching the first few episodes I was drawn in so much I just could not get out of my seat…or even sleep for that matter.
The first season ends on an annoying cliff-hanger which is then continued in the second season (although this can be confusing for the first episode of season 2).

I would say this story is very war-based and strategic but in saying that it’s definitely NOT BORING or DULL. You will get a good balance of mecha-action and dark psychological warfare not to mention dynamic plot twists. People will often compare this series to death note because of the questionable methods of the now labelled Anti-Hero character Lelouch…well I say these kind of characters are more realistic..as the saying goes…with great power comes great…wait a sec this ain’t no spiderman!

OMG this series had a PERFECT ENDING YES PERFECT! and most people find that this is the biggest problem with most anime in general and I personally felt that’s where Death Note faulted a lacking ending.

Character

Code Geass has a great line up of characters from good guys to bad guys they are all very relevant and believable. I could really go into solo character profiles but that would just take too long. Lelouch is a brilliant character that will stay in my mind as one of the anime greats like Guts from Beserk or kazuma from Scryed or Light from death note. (No I don’t think I’m exaggerating)

Enjoyment

To date this is the best anime series I’ve seen since Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When They Cry).
I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s just Superb

Value

Another anime classic up and down. I predict this will climb to (at least) the top 20 of AnimeNfo’s top 200 within the next 2 years. As always I will wait for the thin pack US distribution of both seasons to add to my anime collection.

The Good

Great Story, Great Characters, Great English Dub err Just Greatness

The Bad

The animations can seem a bit funny at times, near the end of season two the story does get a little mind bubbling (aka the whole mother and Father plans) and
This is just me knit-picking :op

Personal Score: 9.8/10

A while since a non-Gundam show was produced by Sunrise- some may be quite skeptical. Code Geass' popularity shocked everyone, even Sunrise itself. Definately worth the watch if you're interested at what the "craze" is all about. Essentially a cross between Gundam and Death Note; Code Geass will appeal to these two groups of minority of fans the most.

This is a ridiculous anime. It follows in the veins of more recent anime, that is, a specific structure, first started by shows like sc.ry.ed and then death note.

The basic premise is of the empire of "britannia", which has taken over japan and named it AREA 11, and the most agreeable part of all of that is the weay they try to make this into a british social satire. Which, in reality, is a hodgepodge of decayed social class and adherence to superiority by how high up you are on the social ladder. In fact the only brilliant line of the show "The britannians are nothing but spoiled, overpriviledged parasites" uttered by the main character is what got me into this show. After that? he and everyone else turns into a wide-doe-eyed fool dropping ham fisted conjectures and political commentary every chance they get.

You have the typical angst wridden lead who would do anything to gain his goals (lelouche - ladouche), then theres his EXACT opposite, christlike, straightforward, cardboard thin, personality lacking goodboy (suzaku) who throughout the anime acts like a robot following "orders and the good side of things". Itcan be argued, this guy is the most unnecessary character in the entire series still i don't think i have seen a chcracter in the history of anime who has so many lives. The character of suzaku cheats death almost in every episode. (He escapes a high energy cannon, survives bullets point blank, survives battles with someone interrupting the second he is about to get killed, oh and later on in the series he is seen running around after appearently being shot point blank by a a mech with a million bullets). I wouldn't give much else away.

This forms the yin and yang of the anime series. Of course in typical japanese fashion all characters have no parents conveniantly met with demises. So everyone is basically a kid, and they try to juggle things like world politics, wars, racism, eliticism, economy, power and OH, robots.

The storyline is paperthin and weaves between episodes filled with chasing cats, hiding identities, and when it suits them, everything is dropped and the story takes a completely different turn.

Somehow lead characters are magically saved out of each seemingly hopeless battle, there are the usual GASPS and moments of saccherine "romance".

All in all, if you have started watching anime in the 90's this is everything you would have come to expect.

For those who watched sc.ry.ed, death note, naruto and bleach, would definately like this anime. For anime fans from the 80's, this is just another abomination of a mixture of old genres, overdone and overcooked in every manner.

The animation style is clean and crisp, and generally of good quality. The sound is ok. Both the dub and jap languages are done very well.

Just don't expect anything ingenious, and like i said, if youre a death note, bleach, naruto, sc.ry.ed fan then youll lap this up like a puppy. Hence the glowing reviews preceding mine.

I know i shall be much reviled for this non glowing review. However i always tend to look more at the low rated reviews, for they often have a less "impressed" hence a more subjective, insightful and most important of all DIFFERENT point of view which i appreciate.

Afterall, who expects or wants to read a 9.0 review. One look at the number itself tells you to watch the show. Hence i tend to not take overzealous glowing reviews seriously.

Code Geass is, overall, a brilliant anime. Here, you will find a complex, multilayered plot, intricately woven characters, and a good dose of philosophy, as well. I find the animation style extremely pleasing, and the action sequences are well done (although they are not why I enjoyed the show so much). The show's music is, unfortunately, lackluster; however, exceptional voice acting for the main character raises the sound score.

To put it succinctly: if you like Death Note, intricate plots, and gripping tension, this is a must watch. If you like mechs too, you might just have a new favorite anime.

Possibly one of the best animes of the recent years. Characters, story and animation are all tcrisp and top-notch. The main characters provide massive depth for the audience to personalise with. Minimal filler episodes which means the plot is tight and often episodes will leave you on the edge of your seat begging for more. THe only minor floor is you will hate one of the main characters *cough Suzaku cough* after a few episodes, but thats expected as he acts as a constant anoying obstacle/enemy but still provides an antagonistical moral depth to Zero's argument. While not being a huge mecha fan this aspect of the anime is overshadowed in awesomeness by Zero's mental planning and public interactions and just how ridiculously good he is. A must watch!

Also it isnt some stupid bubbly gum drop awww anime. there is death and killing and stife i hate some of the stupid pointless animne producers have been spitting out and this a refreshing breath of air that reminds me why i love anime so much

CODE GEASS is just simply amazing. Story Character and the animation is just amazing. This is a must see. Seriously. Many people have compared this anime to Death Note and Gundam SEED, however they are related in some ways but Code Geass is shows better value. The Knightmare are similare to Gundam except they do not fly anddo not fight in space. The Knightmares move by using wheels like rollerblades. This keeps the fighting fast and interesting in its own way. Lelouch the main character is a genius like Light however he's not trying to be "God." Lelouch's main purpose for fighting is for the pursue of happiness for his sister and finding the murderer of his mother's death. In pursuing these ideals he uses two powers "Geass" and the Black Knights to rebel against the Holy Empire Britannia under the masked name"Zero". I find this much better than Death Note.

Code Geass background is mostly a different historical setting. Instead of the United States of America we have the Holy Empire of Britannia. They control 1/3 of the world and is the most powerful nation. They basically control North America and South America. They invade other countries and take control of it. They give them a new county name, just a mere number. The success of taking other countries is using their new weapon called Knightmares. They're like humanoid mech. And everything takes place in Japan or Area 11.

Code GEASS" strongest point is its story. The characters are all unique in their own way. They all have conflicts that they want to resolve. Their background is what makes the story even more amazing. Suzaku is probably the most interesting character, since he's Japanese and helping Britannia. He wants to make Japan within the Britannia borders. Lelouch the main protagonist uses his power Geass, absolute obedience, given by C.C. and the Black Knights (the Elevens/Japanese) in order to revive Japan and mostly pursue his goals. C.C has a very mysterious background and her personality is what I've hardly ever see in any other series. This is what makes me admire her character. Karen is a half blood Britannian and Japanese. She fights for the sake of Japan instead of Britannia. Her reason for fighting are her mother.

Like I said before, the reason why Code Geass is awesome, because of its story. At the end of each episode it forces me to watch the next episode, because they always leave it as cliff hanger. I just couldn't wait to see the next episode and see what happens. Of course the ending of Code Geass was a cliff hanger however season 2 has not disappointed me yet.

What's funny is that C.C. loves pizza XD. They advertise Pizza Hut a lot here.

This is a must see anime.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion is a 25 episode mecha-action drama anime released in 2006. It features a rather complex and well developed storyline in the latter half, but is let down by its unimaginative cast, and underdeveloped story in the first half.

Clamp has always been a studio which created interesting character designs, and they have done the same for this anime. It is a shame that I personally found the oddly proportioned figures of the characters to my disliking, but I'm certain there are people who will adore the creatively drawn cast. Apart from the characters, there isn't much else that stands out in terms of graphics or animation. Certainly, this statement goes both ways, since there aren't any graphical errors, or things that stood out in a negative way. Overall, Lelouch of the Rebellion is a good anime to look at, although for me, it would have been better had it featured more normally proportioned characters.

A number of theme songs featured in Lelouch of the Rebellion fail to fit in with the anime in every way. There are a few songs played during the anime which are suitable to their respective scenes, but they are, in my opinion, played too frequently. The voice actors do an acceptable job of voicing acting, suiting their respective characters most of the time, but lacking slightly in personality. The major gripe I have regarding the voices is the corny way in which affirmations are pronounced in English. I was unable to prevent myself from sniggering every time the voice actors had to pronounce those bits of English dialogue, which pretty much ruined the mood of many scenes for me.

Lelouch of the Rebellion features a rather complex storyline which seems to lack explanation during the first half. A number of actions performed by the characters are unexplained, and a few important facts that would have benefited the development early on were left until the later half of the anime. That said, the latter half of Lelouch of the Rebellion is very well executed. A number of interesting plot twists take place while the storyline is developed at an excellent pace, making it both exciting and interesting to follow. The storyline does not conclude in Lelouch of the Rebellion, however, since this anime serves as a prequel to the next season of Code Geass. Nevertheless, it ends on a peak, so most viewers will no doubt move on to the next season without hesitation.

The cast of Lelouch of the Rebellion are underdeveloped and rather difficult to be taken seriously by me due to the cheesy English affirmations. The number of twists in the storyline, although very interesting, would have been much better if the viewer were able to develop feelings for the characters beforehand. I would think that the lack of character development is to enable further development in the second season, but it certainly does not benefit Lelouch of the Rebellion in any way.

Since it is so heavily story driven, Lelouch of the Rebellion is a must watch for anyone interested in the second season of Code Geass. It serves as an excellent prequel, finishing at a high point perfect for the next season to follow. As a stand alone anime, its strong points pretty much make up for its drawbacks in the opinion of most viewers. People who like plot twists and an exciting storyline, and don't mind a cheesy sounding underdeveloped cast, would no doubt enjoy Lelouch of the Rebellion very much. For me personally, it was a let down in terms of design, music, half the story, and the characters. Still, the second half had an excellent storyline, and I am definitely looking forward to the next season of Code Geass.

Firstly , it is the animation. There nothing special about it, nor there is any thing bad. The fighting scenes and characters animation are all unique, so i will give credits for that.

The sound, just like its animation, has nothing special about it, just that it is not bad, well made. The voice actress and actresses all succeeded in bringing out the emotion of the characters. BGM is also quite good and came up at the right time. Nothing special about its op and end theme.

Well, we have reach the most delicious part of all, the story. A collision between gundam seed and death note certainly created a new flavour of anime. Well, viewers never get sick of stuff like this. The story itselfs also had its own originality, interesting and kept me engaged for the whole series. It is no mean feat to create a storylien like this, with twist and plots all around while keeping it comprehensive for the audiences. Good work, here's a full mark.

The characters were each designed with its own background, history, and the reason why their goal is different in this anime. Making it logical for the characters to act in the way they did(if u kick out the geass and gundam-like machines). Character design were also good no one looks alike with another char, preventing unnecessary confusion.

The value teaches us about something youngsters nowadays doesn;t know, and that is the vicious cycle of war and hatred, the suffering it brought and the reason that people go to war. They had no other choice. Anime like these also helps to promote peace and patriotism. Good work, here's another full mark.

I totally enjoyed this anime, nothing turns me off in the whole series and i am expecting much much more in the second season. This anime maybe not be my most favoured, but it ranked second, first is aishiteruze baby and third is GS. Here's another full mark !

there are some things I want to write about this series and when looking at the score criterias, I realized they are not going to change greatly after seeing the second season. For example will the animation and sound score not change even if it will be completely different in the second season. Also the story and characters kind of belong the the first season as they were created and introduced there. And I sure did enjoy this first season of code geass, even if the second season is going to be totally nuts I still had a lot of fun watching the first one and nothing can change that.

Animation:
The Animation was pretty nice. There are some people who dislike Clamps char design, however I kind of liked it; it is a question of taste. Same with the mixed CG animations, which actually fit very well into the Anime. Anyway some repeated scenes (However much fewer than in GS for example)and static drawings were a little drawback.

Sound:
I loved the Soundtrack. Some remarkable bgm music and songs in there. Sometimes the music could have been a bit more epic or classical when it was rather modern. The Seiyus are also well chosen to fit their role.

Story
This is where Code Geass scores most. The story is set in an alternative timeline, where the technologically advanced Empire of Britannia has conquered Japan. It is about two friends attending school together, Lelouche and Suzaku. Both have dark secrets and paths are split by their different goals and eventually collide.
The funny thing about its story is, that there is actually nothing new in it. Each element has already been there in another Anime. But all this has never been composed into one anime before. And it has been done most magnificiently I might add.

Characters
I mentioned before I liked the character design of Clamp in this Anime. Also there are very many different characters and they all are somehow important. There is also some nice character development for most characters. I really disliked Suzaku, I cannot imagine someone actually likes him. He was so stereotypical good guy and always crosses Lelouche`s great plans. As you might have noticed by now I liked Lelouche. I love the idea of an "evil" guy being the main character just as it was done in Death Note.

Value & Enjoyment
I think this might be affected by watching the second season but up until now I VERY much enjoyed the show. There is suspense, comedy, mechas, cool characters...Code Geass got it all. Just incredible. If you are still unsure whether to watch this show or not, because you dislike mecha shows you should give the show a chance anyway, because even though mecha`s are important, there is so much more to it.

Oh and for the cliffhanger. I agree, this one is most cruel! There was already a very evil cliffhanger on episode 23 and we had to wait so long for episode 24 and 25 (Which were just great!) only to be left off begging for more even worse :)

An interesting anime, while starting out strong with the promises of action, fantasy and a purpose for action- later on the series resembled the dystopic/dysfunctional mindsets of gundum and also of the "evil" main character fighting for what he believes to be morally right (like Yagami Light".

While some people may sympathise with the main character, i never liked watching a 'weak character' or someone who contradicts what i believe should happen and how they should act (my own expectations of the character).

This anime is something out of the Twi-light Zone.

After watching this I couldn't help but swear continuously for quite a while. Code Geass kept me on the edge of my seat through unseen twists in the story, and amazing idea's following out of it. One thing after another the creativity never got boring.

Though the problem with Code Geass is you get no closure, There is not black and white there is only grey, Hellsing is heaven compared to this when it comes to actually choosing a side, Death Note ; A guy who kills unscrupulously is my idol. Hell, even Avengelion had more closure.

Who is the good guy here!. Apart from that the anime is brilliant except for people who love closure to A story!!. I guess I'll have to wait for the second season.

Be prepared to be mind boggled and your morality and ethics confronted if you watch this!. (severely)

This anime is a lot like Gundam Seed/Seed Destiny whichever you like it. In fact it is made by the same producers and a lot of things are actually recycled from Gundam Seed and retold and refreshed for 2006/7. The only problem is that if you remembered GSeed as if it was yesterday, then this has not much difference in it. The only difference is that this time characters are center stage of this anime, but the plot wars, mecha stuff are still there. Even though characters are different, you can relate almost all characters back to gundam seed which makes the story slightly boring in a sense.

Note: This review applies to both seasons of the show.

"My father... if that man is the symbol of Britannia, then I must crush him! If on the way, my older sister raises sword against me, then the same applies! Even if you don't know it yet, I have power! As long as I have the Geass, I can manage everything alone."

A young prince and a direct heir to the throne of Holy Empire of Britannia has been abandoned by his family, by his country. Used as a political tool to divert Japan's attention from the upcoming invasion. Who would seriously consider the nation would start an all open war when its heir himself is inside the territory of its target?. However, even as a child Lelouch vi Britannia had intelligence, sheer talent for war and politics surpassing that of adults. Hence, he survived the diversion, took on a false name and started his life of an outcast. All the while creating plans to overthrow, to get revenge on the empire of Britannia and his relatives who have betrayed him. I will Destroy Britannia - Were the first words after the diversion muttered by the still young abandoned prince. Here starts the show, an epic tale of a man who held his pride, ideals above those of the world. His tiny existence - will it be just a pin in a huge cogwheel of the world destined to vanish without meaning, or could it pierce a critical gear, thus making the whole cogwheel crumble and fall to nothingness? This show has the answers, and I strongly plead you, watch Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, and be enlightened.

Have you ever read Crime and Punishment written by a renowned Russian author Fyodor Dostoyevsky? It's a story about a man who devised a new (at that time) philosophical idea - He who deserves power and rule shall not be bound by laws, ethics or morals. Just as god does not follow the rules of men, so the man who is worthy to change, to advance, to evolve the world as a whole shall not be bound by them. The biggest controversial detail in Dostoyevsky's creation was that, however the plot, he never either confirmed, nor negated the validity of that idea (Pretty much the same situation as with the smile of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa). Either way, just recently I have noticed that anime is actually picking up the legacy left by Dostoyevsky and is advancing his idea in various directions, much further than the original novel. Three respective shows, which I deem successors of Crime and Punishment are Berserk, Death Note and, finally, Code Geass. Code Geass, especially, evolves the idea to extreme further lengths. Not too shy to proclaim taboo facts like Humans are not equal or the End Justifies the Means openly, Code Geass is not only one of the best shows in anime history, it's a worthy successor to one of the greatest philosophical/political legacies in literature. All hail Code Geass!

Recommended for everybody, especially for people who enjoy philosophy (or are under the influence of megalomania... As I am). Also I am aware of the fact that this show has fanservice, but it doesn't make its ideas, philosophy go bad. Moreover, it's sometimes good to have some fanservice to relax at.

The show doesn't have much as far as animation, sound, or emotional value go, but, like deathnote, its potential for suspense and brilliance make it an extremely enjoyable anime to watch. You will find yourself addicted, and in love with the characters (not in that way :P). The story develops so well and its willing to take so many story altering turns, something i find important in an anime. Its not afraid to do anything and always keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Code Geass is like V for Vendetta, death note, and Eureka seven molded into a storyline driven by mad chaos, twists, and violence - I loved it. this anime is like a chaotic ballet where friends fight against friends, sibilings kill eachother, and lovers betraying one another. At the end the level of emotional complexity, and intensity is unparelleled.

Comparison between deathnote is inevitable, but I think this anime is philosophically different at heart. Kira is like an embodiment of a philosophy, but Lelouch is just a boy driven hate towards his father and love for his sister. It come out very similar, but essentially it is different. Due to this I found Lelouch much more human, though he transforms into a monster of sort as the story progresses. Things that he do to achieve his goal is just heart breaking to watch. As he spiral down this path of carnage he never even wished for, the viewers can really hate him and sympathize him at the same time. It's this emotional complexity that this show demands, that makes this anime so fascinating.

Now that's only Lelouch. There Suzaku who goes through a transformation of his own as well and that's jsut heart breaking to watch. My words really don't do justice.

All and in all what this anime do best is blurring the line between right and wrong, hate and sympathy, and obsession and reason. when all these lines are blurred viewers are driven to think while their feelings torn. It is a delight to watch so much rage and sorrow - battle of death between friends, brothers and sisters, and loved one.

This great achievement is done by several plot twists that just will make you say "OH Nooooo...." I didn't see many of it coming. But when it happens, it happens quick and it will hit you like a rock. with each plot twist though you can just feel the chaos just spiraling down to total carnage and madness. This is accomplished by haunting, stylish, and magnificent animation. At first I was thinking that the characters were just whole bunch of bi-shounen, but towards the end they will learn to look ugly, angry, and evil.

this anime just begs for more attention. It's intense and gripping in every light. I can't wait for the second season and for that I'll forgive the plot holes, and unexplained elements.

code geass is, in short, an amazing anime. very few animes can compete with it in terms of its assets. in addition to a memorable story and a variety of interesting characters, it has superb animation and relatively good sound.

code geass's strongest point is its storyline and character set. with a semi-death note presentation, you have a main character that has to deal with the concepts of power and morality. even more interesting, the main character lelouch has a counter character that represents almost the opposite ideal.

geass is strongly plot driven, so you'll mostly want to continue watching it to see what comes next. for sure the story was very well written. the emotionality was definitely there; all the characters were believable and connectable on the personal level. many of the feelings are completely relatable

the one thing about code geass that was somewhat controversial was its ending. to leave it vague and unspoiled, lets just say it wasn't necessarily something i expected. however, at the same time, though many anime's do not pull 'this kind of ending' off well, geass was able to do it. the reason why is all about a feeling of 'closure', and it was done relatively well.

now we shall wait for season 2. hopefully it'll release soon and won't disappoint!
