In order to review this, I will probably have to copy half my review from NGE to this one. The only difference between this and the series is its technical aspects, thus, its recommendation value increases. To some, it increases enjoyment. To me, it did this.

rebuild of evangelion is more like a revised version of the series itself, for people who are going to watch this for the first time even though they haven't seen the original series, they will still understand this movie but for those who have seen the series and end of eva movies, you'll experience a deja vu watching this. although this movie is like a re-mastered version of the 1995 series, there are actually some parts here that didnt happen in the series so people who have seen the series will still enjoy watching this because i think this is not just a replay of eva at all but this might have a different ending and also give more answers to the mysteries of evangelion itself.

For all the hype, the first of four “Rebuild” films for Evangelion is a disappointment, only in the sense that there is too much of a been there, done that vibe to it. Obviously, it is a cash grab; it is a way to bring Evangelion to new audiences without them overlooking it due to its now severely dated visuals. As that, it is fine, very good even. However, for those who have already seen the series, this is just plain unnecessary.
