| overall I would place this at as an average show. Given that it was based on a game, I would like to say that they did a pretty good job following up on the storyline and maintaining characters. The drag is that basically only a few episodes carry the main storyline. Fight scenes are stereotypical with fast gun shooting action but not much innovation on the part of the fighting styles. Fights become monotonous really really fast. I am a fan of the game and I am trying my best to be objective here. Add 2 points to enjoyment if you're a fan since seeing dante in action really is nice.
If you really liked Gungrave and aren't a fan of devil May Cry per se, you might find this a bit disappointing.

| I'm fan of this game series so anime kicked me quite good, I might be little too nice DMC.
Animation is the weakest part, it is most of the time smooth, good looking etc. But some critical times like middle of good action, it get so fuzzy and watcher just drops out hole scene. So sometimes U have to watch that fighting scene again, its little frustrating and eated couple points out.
Sounds are great, I liked voice actors and musics are really good too, if U like rock music.
Story ain't strong point either, but it was enough to me, somethings maybe doesn't open all viewers and leaves questions, but I hope not.
Main character is charismatic, quite same way as Alucard in Hellsing, but Dante is little darker his own way.
DMC is really good even if U think it as only Action series without any other bonds to it.
I like to compare it Hellsing series, because they are quite similar after all. So if U liked Hellsing U should like this, at least little.

| judging from the first episode: I guess I had too high expectations, but the first episode didn't really impress me. The atmosphere is simillar to Hellsing, but the story was really predictable and i got a familliar, mainstream feeling from watching it.
the animation and sound is fairly good. They have kept several elements from the game, which is good. I hope this anime will develop positively, because it has potential to become great. The first episode felt like watching a filler. Devil may cry is about a half devil/half human named Dante who works as a devil hunter.
I've played all the games, so i know the true story behind the characters, but the anime hasn't included those yet, or ever for what i know. The anime takes place somewhere in the US, at Dante's HQ called Devil May Cry.
Every episode so far has started off with Dante eating pizza while someone suddenly shows up with a job that he usually reluctantly accepts, because he owes several people money, mainly "Lady". Lady hasn't been introduced in the anime yet. Why is her name Lady? when Dante and Lady met(in the game), she told him that she didn't have a name. Actually she does, but Dante just called her lady.
I've watched 4 eps now. No big improvement. There's no story as of yet, just new clients and monsters to kill. I have high hopes for this anime, so i'll keep updating. It seems like new characters, and people from Dante's past are slowly being introduced in this period. It appears that there are only 12 episodes total. I'll finish the review when i've watched the last episode.
