| I went to watch a few episode of Yusha Reideen and to compare with this. This makeover was totally unrecognisable from its previous version except for some of its trademarks like the name - Reideen - and some of its attack concepts (less the extended deep-voice screaming parts).
One impression constantly stands out for me: "slow paced". This impression is most evident during the mecha combat. Perhaps it is to give the anime a grand startup in some instances like when Junki faints in the cave as he sees a vision which seems to portray the full glory of the hero mecha during the vision.
The action sequences seems slow but this truly helps to establish the feel of mass in the gigantic beasts. The movement concept was a pleasant surprise too since the show seemed to take Reideen's mass into account and assign it the most effective form of movement...you'll have to watch to find out what I mean.
Reideen puts the perception of "slow paced" in a positive light as the Reideen moves with a certain grace, granduer and highlights the concept of bulk.
The anime has a simple plot and contains the following ingredients:
school life + lost technology + government + aliens + rhetoric on choices + internal conflicts
