A short anime with 6 episodes. Set in a medieval era, it mixes swordplay with magic and alittle technology in it. In a rather unexpected turn of events, Princess Arita's soul gets exchanged with the bounty hunter, Farith's, in turn they make a deal, to protect Forland. Both the main characters have contrasting personalities, which makes it easy to differentiate them.

Although the anime is short, it tries to pack as much character development and story into the 6 episodes, however it falls short of completing the whole picture. The anime's characters each get enough airtime to show their history's, without been draggy. Each episode features enough action to keep you wanting for more, not to mention that the animation is pretty good and smooth. The presentation of the anime makes it look like it's been done with a good budget.

I liked the OP and ED of this anime, the OP is fast paced and sets the theme for the show, the ED is melodic and slower in pace, but still nice.

Overall Murder Princess would have done better with more episodes, but it did a fine job in presenting it in 6 episodes. Worth a rewatch IMHO.

Murder Princess is a short 6 episode OVA, with a fantasy action adventure storyline that ultimately lacked depth.

The title sequence of Murder Princess looks excellent. It is fast paced, well animated, and supplemented with an excellent theme tune. Therefore, it is a shame that the rest of the OVA fails to match the excellence of the opening. Nevertheless, Murder Princess is not too disappointing to watch. The character designs are nice, and there is a sufficient degree of detail.

The theme tunes in Murder Princess are suitable, and the background music is exciting. Murder Princess has a decent soundtrack which complements the scenes very well. Coupled with an experienced cast of voice actors, Murder Princess fares quite well in the audio department.

The storyline of Murder Princess, although quite promising, was heavily restricted by its short 6 episode running length. This ultimately resulted in a storyline lacking in depth and development. Still, the storyline concludes well and Murder Princess is not a huge disappointment in its story.

The cast in Murder Princess contribute greatly to its story. The characters have excellent personalities which complement each other very well. Most of the memorable moments in Murder Princess are caused by the dialogue and the voice acting.

Murder Princess is overall not a great watch. The animation is inconsistent and falls below expectations, especially after watching the opening, and the storyline is rushed and underdeveloped. But it is worth considering if you are looking for something short and fun.

I think that Murder Princess is actually one of Beetrain's most interesting works to date-at least in the form of a short OVA series compared to their longer, more drawn out storylines like Tsubasa Chonicles and the .hack series.

Princess Alita is caught at the crossroads when her kingdom, Foreland, is taken down in an attempted coup d'etat by rebels. Those closest to her attempt to protect the Princess by sending a decoy and telling her to flee the kingdom. In the process, the princess comes across Faris, a rather tomboyish and quick-witted bounty hunter with rather oddball looking comrades (admittingly they look like characters from an Underworld). In the process of calling for help, the princess and Faris fall from a cliff...and end up switching bodies. Now Pharis, trapped in Alita's body, and Alita in hers, has to take the helm and help save the kingdom.

All in all, this was a story that started off with quite an interesting premise and funny characters. When the girls switched bodies and after, I felt they came into their roles a lot more-Faris became the acting Alita and took on a new role in making her a princess with attitude, strength, and perhaps even a little mischievous. And something about Paku Romi playing the voice as the rather awkward, yet sword-wielding Murder Princess really clicked with me (then again, it's Paku Romi, it's hard to not find her funny in most roles she does ^^) The true princess took on the identity of Milano, a humble maid assisting the "acting" Alita.

Admittingly, this series was a bit shortchanged in terms of it's length, and the ending isn't really all that conclusive-probably either lending to a sequel series or movie, if that at all. Yet, I think for an action/adventure/fantasy series, this OVA did a decent job-it entertained me for the most part, but I felt it did lack significant development. The characters were interesting to watch in their dynamic, and worked well in the scheme of a short story, though. Alita and Faris are both nice female leads, and interesting to watch in their dynamic. I laughed at the acting Alita in one of the episodes where she was crowned and started yelling "Whoo-hoo!"-something you'd expect from a tomboy becoming a princess XD I think the series had the right idea to portray this contrast between the two. The supporting cast are amusing in their own respects, particularly the allies, though I was a little disappointed at the predictability of the villains in this series and how they were handled.

Animation standards in this series are quite well noted, from the cel production and coloring to the character designs. Very nice for a 2007 work. Music does consist of some rather rockish themes, the OP song by Back-on included. The mix to "Hikari Sasuhou" is actually well done, and fits the opening sequence to the series well. I think fans of Back-on would really like it, though those who don't know the group may be mixed with the rapping in the chorus. The ED, however, is actually a rather nice contrast, the rather melodic "Naked Flower" by Paku Romi.

I'd give this series a go if you want a short action series with a nice sword wielding lead female character. Don't come into expecting a perfect or even a mindblowing story, but it's hard for me to not admit this was entertaining to watch in some respects. It's a toss up as to whether or not this has rewatch value, because it can be easily rewatched, but at the same time, it may not stick with you as a series to watch repeatedly. I liked it though, and would certainly buy it if it came to the States.

A Short anime (6 episodes long) with a good bit of action and decent story.

This is my first review ever I think every decent anime should have at least 1 review on the site =P

I would definately recommend watching the first episode, if you don't like it then its unlikely you will enjoy the following 5.

Animation:
I would put the actual animation on par with Inuyasha however the actual artwork is slightly better imho. I like their use of colors. They do a great job on the facial/eye artwork transforming the main character from a gentle princess to a tough killer.

Sound:
For the most part its heavy metal style (no lyrics of course) it goes well with the scenes and I hope more animes pick up this style of fighting music. It really brought out some of the fight scenes.

Story:
It was decent story.... for 6 episodes it did a great job in my opinion of forming a small story without cutting back on action. I think they did a pretty good job.

Characters:
I liked the characters each of them had very different personalities but again suffers from only being 6 episodes. Not much character development but again did a pretty good job for such a short OVA.

Value:
At only 6 episodes its a pretty good value.

Enjoyment:
Short, action packed, a story with a real conclusion, a good anime to have around for a fellow anime fan guest that only plans to stay over for 3-4 hours =P.
