| "Amon Saga" vereinigt so ziemlich alle gängigen Fantasy-Klischees in sich und präsentiert sich dem Zuschauer von Anfang bis Ende als völlig linear, platt und unkreativ. Wir haben einen jungen Helden der loszieht um Rache am Mörder seiner Mutter zu nehmen, welcher selbstverständlich auch gleich der Anführer einer fiesen Armee ist und mit deren Hilfe die Macht über die Welt erringen will. Dann nehme man noch eine liebreizende Prinzessin die von unserem Helden gerettet wird und sich auch prompt in ihn verliebt und gebe noch ein paar Krieger hinzu die sich dem Protagonisten anschließen um mit ihm gegen den Feind zu kämpfen und schon hat man so ziemlich das gängigste vom Gängigen was man in Sachen Fantasy geboten bekommen kann. Die Handlung verläuft dementsprechend wie an der Schnur gezogen und legt kein Fünkchen Abwechslung, geschweige denn spannende Twists an den Tag. Man weiß von Anfang an wie die ganze Sache ausgehen wird und da braucht man sich in dem Genre noch nicht einmal sonderlich gut auszukennen. Über die Charaktere braucht man ebenfalls keine großen Worte zu verlieren, denn sie sind ausnahmslos nichts als hohle Pappkameraden und spielen die typischen Archetyprollen, weiter nichts. Zwar beinhaltet "Amon Saga" auch einige Action-Szenen, die größtenteils aus Schwertkämpfen gegen irgendwelche 0815-Gegner oder seltsame Monster bestehen, aber aufgrund der schwachen Animationen die ihr Alter nicht verstecken können machen diese keinen Spaß beim zuschauen und können somit den mehr als Schwachen Rest auch kein Stück kompensieren. Fazit: "Amon Saga" ist Fantasy aus dem Ramschladen und wird selbst Fans des Genres mit Sicherheit kaum begeistern können. Dafür ist diese OVA viel zu standardmäßig und einfallslos.

| Amon is a typical anime about a warrior’s revenge on a king. There’s a element of romance mixed into it too.
The characters are okay, nothing too spectacular, I felt that within the hour and 40 minutes or so, there wasn’t much to get audience to sympathise, to associate and to care for the characters. The main character Amon is an enigma, but not much of one to be honest.
Animation was good for its time (note that it NOT 1996 as displayed on AnimeNfo page, but 1986), having said that, it didn’t add much for this anime ultimately. But fundamentally, it’s the story which let this anime down, it was too linear and even for its time, this was no excuse.

| This was a waste of time. The animation could have been done a lot better, it looks like its some low budget movie from the late 80's. Probably they tried to get a old school look, but they failed.
The music is something that lifts the whole movie up, theres flutes and drums mixed up in a good combo so you get a little classical feeling.
The story and characters aint even worth mentioning. The first 10 minutes were somewhat enjoyable to watch but after that it just went downhill. Still this movie got a lot of hype which i find a bit surprising. Even if your a big fan of epic fantasy adventures you should avoid it, if you still insist on watching it, rent it.

| I rented this but could not finish it. Everything was so lame: the story is overtypical fantasy, and the characters don't make sense, while being stereotypical - yes, they managed to achieve that.
The animation and overall technique dit not look like they were from the 90's. Maybe they tried to give themselves an old-school style, but it only looked cheaply done to me.
To make the renting of this worth it, my friend and I did try to mock Amon Saga, but it rather depressed us. Myabe if we should have tried kampai-ing, but it seems like such a waste... I don't know in which cricomstance this could be ok to watch... Maybe with a head cold, maybe....
