All I can say is... best ending ever =P
I was frustrated throughout the whole anime but when the ending came I was like "Ah... finally"
The animation was decent but nothing special, as was the sound.
The story was mostly very annoying and the characters were... well 'special' might be the right word(though I truly adored Setsuna) =P
Value... I'll never watch the series again... ever... not even if someone put a gun to my head.
I actually enjoyed the end so much this gets a decent grade =P
And seriously, someone please but psychological or something in the genre, otherwise people will be as mislead by this as they were with narutaru. Though this series isn't close to the twisted f****** sh*t narutaru was, but it has it's moments =P

*WARNING!!*
*some spoilers ahead*

Makoto has got to be the sorriest excuse for a guy I've ever seen, seriously. There's a limit to indecisivness and how much you can think with your groin.
I would like to say I feel sorry for the girls but honestly, I just feel sorry for their stupidity in actually falling for him and wanting to be with him.
I just wished they had bombed the whole school instead... with most people in it... cuz they were almost all corrupted in some ways with a few exceptions ofc.

Generally speaking, it's hard for me to get disappointed by animes unless they are for the lack of a better word, pretty horrible. This anime is just that. I didn't care for it for numerous reasons. One of the first things a viewer may notice is the awkwardness of this anime. I felt the scripting was awful, more over the voices of these characters - whoever the actors were - were always overdone, with awkward studdering during unnecessary moments. Another vocal problem was the mismatching of the actor with the character. I felt the actors sounded a little too old to be associated with highschool kids, especially the voice of Makoto that sounded like a man in his 30s was talking over. It was poorly done. Secondly, this anime lacks a storyline. It's stagnant and ultimately, goes nowhere. For some odd reason all of these girls are attracted to this one guy who doesn't give them any reason to like him. It's just not plausible. I felt the story was too pushed and too convenient in many parts in order for certain occurrences to take place and I didn't buy into it at all. the characters lacked depth. They were simply put all out of place without any inner motivation to direct them. I especially had a problem with the character Katsura because she was just there, always quiet, always awkward and she randomly changes in the middle of the anime and becomes more aggressive without any internal evidence of a desire to change or the reason for it. I wouldn't recommend this to any one. I just felt very weird and awkward watching this anime. I know I keep saying that word "awkward" but quite honestly, that just sums up this whole anime. There's nothing special about it and the characters lack originality.

This is not your average high school love story. The first episodes give you the impression that this is all totally cliché (I even made a bet during the very first episode I could tell how the ending was gonna be. Boy was I wrong...) . After a while, though, this turns into a quite strong drama.

Despite a good story and interesting characters, I wasn't entirely captivated. I think the directing let this anime down, because it really had potential. As it is now, you could call it a "poor man's kimi ga nozomu eien".

This is far the worst anime series I've had the dislike to watch. Although it is not a hentai I've never seen so many slut school girls ever! Of all characters in the series there is noone at all who have character. It is a full compilation of weak and disgusting people. If you don't believe me, just watch it, but after you saw, you cannot unsaw it!

After I finished watching this anime three days ago I have to say this is my favorite anime, the starts with Makoto on a train on his way to school and he starts to get interested to a girl that rides the same train as him almost every day but he never says anything to here until he meets Sekai who helps them together but I dont want to dive to deep into this anime's story but I loved the ending very dramatic.Overall this anime has everything that I wanted in an anime love,a good story, diverse characters and an awesome ending so if your looking for a new anime to watch and you havent seen this one yet then this should be on the top of your list to watch its a great anime.

I came across School Days by reading some of the people's reactions to it and being given recommendations from a friend saying it stands out from other romance anime right now. Of course, I took it with a grain of salt and started watching it. What I got was a show that made me want to punch the screen on my PC...really bad.

The anime is an adaptation of the H-game which is given its notoriety for its gory endings. The story revolves around a schoolboy named Makoto and his "love" between the main heroine's of the story, the aloof and quiet Kotonoha and the lively Sekai.

I'll change things up a bit by focusing more on the story and the characters for School Days.

Animation is what you expect from an H-game adaptation. A little touch up here and there, but otherwise the same quality as its game counterpart. Character designs can be summed up in a few choice words: cute, carbon copies. Reminds me of the ol' palette swaps video game designers still love doing. Then again, this IS an H-game. Nothing more, nothing less.

Music takes a form of an atmosphere setter during the series proper. The staff took the liberty to include a number of J-pop inserts especially when a key moment is taking place. The same goes for the ending theme. Unfortunately, I could not find a particular track that interests me which is a letdown. Even "Look at Me" made by YURIA, one of my favorite J-pop artists, did not leave an impression for me. Be warned, if you have a dislike for bubblegum pop, you really shouldn't be watching this. Voice acting was decent. I've heard it is better than the game, but I've yet to confirm this.

Now we're on the meat and potatoes of it all Story and characters. The plot goes into a huge rollercoaster ride of ironies and conflicts, typical of any drama. As I watch School Days at first, it was rather painful. The events and execution just feels like you've seen this before and can't help to ask how this is unique. It would have been alright, but given the hype of it all, it was disappointing. The show isn't all bad though. Given its title, the story goes for a bit of realism of everyday school social life, like gossiping and scandals and I found that rather amusing. It was a bit like watching one of those teen dramas that cable shows like throwing at us. Then again, like 99% of all teen dramas, it suffers from melodrama that reaches asinine levels. If one takes this seriously and applies real life rationales, he/she would likely watch no more than ten minutes of School Days. The ending is a tragedy, probably the highlight of the whole series. This is the part where viewers see it as "sinister," but I can't help but laugh as to how everything resolved. Yeah, I know some of you might see me as cruel, but trust me, I've had my fair share of sick anime.

Next comes the backbone which sets up the frame for any drama, the characters. During the series run, viewers will invoke a plethora of emotions depending on their values and opinions of love and romance. Therefore, not surprisingly, Makoto would be the most hated among the cast with good reason. The guy acted on his lust and could not decide on what he truly wants thus destroying the feelings of everyone around him. On the other hand, a few juvenile individuals congratulate him(dubbing him a pimp), going so far as seeing the moral of the story as "don't get caught" or any other retarded stuff. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, I guess. The likability of the rest of the cast is varied. There will always be some sort of "favoritism" for this kind of series (see SHUFFLE! or any other romance anime). As for me, I have none since there wasn't anyone that caught my eye and stood out in an epic way. They all danced in Makoto's tune.

The value of School Days remains dubious at best. It's one of those "one-hit" shows which is once you've seen it, you forget it. If it weren't for the hype that's been plagued by it (like the infamous inside joke, "Nice Boat" meme), it would've been just any old run of the mill series. There's also the OVA's if you just can't get enough of School Days.

If you're ever trying to get a friend into anime, especially a girl, this is probably the worst thing you can introduce the genre. It objectifies women to the point of misogyny. Don't be surprised if you end up with a slap afterwards. If you can't resist, see it alone and be done with it.

Okay I decided to review School Days TV earlier than expected because I see other people review. And then i said yeah let me get this over it since this has been disturbing my mind. And i just need to say what i think about it. SO this can go either good or bad but i think this is not going to be so good for me.

When I first starting this anime I thought hey this is gonna be a cute love-romance anime. Boy was I COMPLETELY wrong.

Now some may think that School Days TV is going to be a nice cute happy ending or something they wanted but didn't happen or happened. I for once can say this I was shocked nothing else. Why? I'll get into details later. However some will say this is one of the best stories or one of the worst.

Okay we got Makoto the main protagonist. He's the one who starts this WHOLE MESS. He keeps seeing a girl on the same train that they ride to school. He takes a picture of her so his wish for loving her would happen. Her name is Katsura Kotonoha. Of course they start dating. Next we have Sekai! She's the one that helps those two go out.

As i said before i thought that School Days TV was going to be romantic love story. My impressions of that was the title, because of a typical high school love. However that was wrong. The second was how the the love-romance pace was going in the early series. However this love-romance pace quickly turned into a harem story. And then somehow develops into a sex story. Well not really a sex story. Yes it's Makoto who causes this commotion. So basically the change starts in episode 4 when he's all alone with Sekai who tries to teach him about how to pleasure a woman properly.

And in episode 5 you can tell that the animation completely changes. Why? At the swimming pool they start to introduce ecchiness. Yes this is where the story starts to go in a whole different direction. Makoto first starting dating Katsura Kotonoha because he wanted to feel love. Now that he has he changes course towards Sekai. Because of this leads to lots of consequences. Because he didn't tell Kotonoha but he keeps lying to her. And in episode 6 strikes the heart. However this doesn't end the strike. The big change that effects the rest of the series is in episode 9. Then in episode 10 the genre completely changes. Instead of love-romance. This became a ecchi mature show.

Now that it turned into this type. I completely lost respect for it. Even though it has some hope. This is the story that Makoto created. This is his life he chose. He mostly wanted to begin with love. But however this love turned into sexual pleasure. And because of that he desired more of it. So he in my opinion didn't care about love anymore. He just wanted to have a 'partner.' And because of this he desired more. However this can be seen in the real world for those who are driven by their own hormones. This IS THE STORY. However I was really disappointed the way how the events turned out. Because of this the two main female characters are infuriated by this and want his love. Sekai and Katsura both love him the most. However because Mr. Jerk only cares for pleasure it results in a BIG consequence. Now i won't tell the ending cause it would spoil it. I can see now that those two girls used dirty methods to get the boy they loved. Yes i can see and it can happen in the real world. However i didn't expect the ending. I mean the genre in my opinion got rid of everything and turned it into a Horror and love-romance ending.

However i did enjoy this until it reached the ending. That was quite disappointing. I was hoping that I would get the ending i want. But i was wrong like i said at the beginning of this topic. It wasn't the ending. It was the sexual pleasures as well. He committed sex with eight girls. The sad part is he keeps lying to the girls and to himself. But this is what builds his character.

I will never buy this. Just thinking about it gives me shivers especially the ending. Of course this anime is a good example that can be related to the outside world.

This particular anime indeed will have many people including myself sympathizing with the main characters. At times I was happy, sad, warm, angry, shocked! I do have to say though, if you are the romantic type of person, this really isn't for you. I classify myself as that and I've paid dearly but being a fan of anime, once I watch it, I must finish and see what goes on.

The Oxford Dictionary defines "astonish" as a verb; "to surprise or impress greatly", It's 3 A.M., I've just finished to watch the last episode of this particular anime and I'm astonished...
To shorten the story, after "Clannad" was over and waiting for the second season of "Haruhi" I stumbled across "School days", having watched it all now I must say that if you're into some candid, cute, heart warming anime that would even make you feel like crying, well... I suggest you try "Kanon" or "Air" but if you like to be surprised (in good and bad ways) then welcome aboard, I'm sure you'll be amazed, just like I did.

Totally not your average school life anime anime. If you are looking for a decent nice anime to pass your time with, I don't think I would suggest this one. This anime is much darker than you would expect and it gets worse as you go along. That being said, I ran into this anime not knowing anything about it but figured I would give it a shot since I like School life and Love Romance triangle animes. I admit after starting it was really hard to get through but I managed to finish. Just to let you know how odd this anime is they banned playing the 13th episode for a while because of its content. (something similar happened in Japan that the last episode deals with)

The animation was good, I liked the style and the backgrounds were really well done. The emotions of the characters were great as well.

The sound was nothing amazing but it was not bad either. So average overall.

I think I docked points on the story because I did not like the premisis of it. The story was really well developed and honestly they way it took things was really well done. It was all character driven and I tend to like that, but... well you will just have to watch to understand.

As I said above the entire story was character driven, but as I also noted I did not like the way the characters went. I like happy things I guess, and this made me feel sick to my stomach. I mean one guy becomes obsessed with having sex with anyone that will let him, one girl goes a bit crazy, and another is just plain mean. But if that is what you like you will like this.

I can't say I enjoyed it but I could stop watching it either. I had to know what happened at the end. The ending actually does end though which is always nice. So if you like this mentally crazy type stuff this anime is for you!

My view on this anime is pretty negative. First of all it's inconsistent in every area except sound. It's awkward and horribly written.
This anime also singlehandedly scared the shit out of me.........
I give it a booo....
Yay for being different... in a bad way.

This was crazy! It started off so cute and on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happened and who he ended up with. But it had an enormous twist at the end that i never would have expected. Even though it ended in a tradgedy, I'm glad how it all hapened. I've never seen anything like this before so it was really different. I give thumbs up to the creators of this.

I've finished the series episode by episode, right after each fansub release, I must say, I am very disappointed by the extreme ratings, from a very high 10/10 to a 1/10. So, I'm here to share my side of the story.

Harem? You kidding me? Harem is basically that there are 2 or more girls liking the same protagonist or vice versa. Now do enlighten me where we see this "affection" in the plot.
My opinion? There is none. This anime is a down-to-earth type of which is highly uncommon these days, meaning, a substantial amount of merriment in parallel with the shadows of mankind, lust, ego, etc as the major factor mobilizing the actions taken by the characters. Morals and desires, displayed on stage in this bitter anime isn't for the faint of heart, if you be one of the audience that watch anime for pure simple enjoyment, this anime will occur ,simply, as trash to you. However, from a allegorical standpoint, this anime reflect and teaches lessons in life about lust, ego, hate, and jealousy. I have to agree, the ending was a bit unethical propelled to an extremist state, nevertheless, the reflected motivation by jealousy and hate was lucid and clear.

I am not discussing the art and sounds because, to me, seems irrelevant to the thesis presented by this outstanding composition.

With as innocent sounding (or ominous depending on your own school life) a name as "School Days" and the genres it is listed under, you might be expecting a happy romance story.

Well, you get half.

I would say that "School Days" is a romance story, yet is by no means happy. Genre's not yet applied to this should include drama and possibly mature and horror. To truly categorize it, "School Days" is a romantic tragedy.

The animation is good, on par with all but the best of todays anime. There is symbolism a-plenty throughout the shows. Foreshadowing of events to come and the true nature of the characters is often displayed early. The presentation in the story is impeccable, so well done that they're able to do without the explicit blow by blow of events as they occur.

The music was very well matched with the story, often adding that extra punctuation to events that made them hit home all the more. The voice acting was good, with characters whose voices were suited to them.

As far as story goes, it was all that any drama romance fan could ask for without a cheesy soap opera feel. High quality, though not for the faint of heart. Personally I'm a fan of romance that ends well, so while I was wincing and sitting in shock horror at every twist and turn, I can see that the writters achieved their goal. Things start off nice with the promise of intrigue, yet very quickly what would appear to be a cheery show turns serious. I'm uncertain as to how original the show was in entirety, as the story seemed to be a modern take on a romantic tragedy, though I can't recall which. After watching it there was simply an atmosphere to it that seemed like an age old story, one that would doubtless occur repeatedly throughout history until human nature itself changed. Ahem. Or something like that.

It is a little surprising to look back on the characters at the start as those they end as, are almost something else. Almost, because while some grow it is really more about how they fail to grow, or deteriorate throughout the show that makes the characters great. As I said, this is not something out of which a happy ending emerges. The flaws of the characters are what make the show what it is and in that light they are excellent. Compared with many characters in anime, it feels like the characters here were very human.

There are some real morals to take away from this story. Though I doubt I'd watch it again except maybe to go back and look for all the ways they foreshadowed events (they really did an awesome job with subtext), that's simply reflecting preference for genres other than this. To those who enjoy romantic tragedies and dramas, I whole heartedly recomend this.

Rewriting everything here ...

Its been 1-2 month since I finished watching School Days.Letting out a sigh of relief,I am here to rewrite. So lets get things moving.

Started off innocent enough,School Days is accompanied with one of the most tragic endings I had ever seen from this genre. No,due to my narrow knowledge of animes,it is the most. Thus,I landed in the School-Days-Clutches but had just recovered few weeks ago.

So unless you had already known School Days for its game, judging from the title 'School Days',I say...you would had thought that it is going to be like high-school/comedy anime where there are delinquents and crushes, etc.

Now finishing the series, are you shocked or stunned with its amazing turn-around?If you asked me I say YES!I never expected that!Even KGNE had a happy ending...Ah,well...

Underrated!I say School Days, you better get in the ranking board.

I enjoyed this anime quite alot. Although few episodes really repeated each other (same thing, different girl...), the ending was really something I didn't expect. Maybe the enjoyment came from how I could relate to the main story line, or about how the characters are brought forth, or that I really like drama series like KGNE.

Wow, I'm really torn about this anime. I absolutely loved the first half of this anime. The drama was great and I loved the characters at that time. The first half had me deeply involved in the story riding a rollercoster of emotions. But the second half, the setup for the ending just ruined the anime.

School Days is not your average 'harem' anime. In fact its plot development is atypical. The main character is actually more of an antihero. He is a pervert, he is indecisive, and he wants it all!

School Days starts off innocently enough. We have one perky, bossy girl Sekai setting up the main character Makoto with a shy girl Katsura.

The problem is that once Makoto has hooked up with Katsura he grows tired of her unwillingness to take things up to the 'next level'.

Sekai suggests that she can 'coach' him into being a better lover and before you know it Makoto and Sekai end up doing the nasty while having all sorts of guilty feelings about cheating on poor clueless Katsura.

And THAT is when the story starts to get interesting. Witness Makoto's fall from grace as he gets into even more degenerate behavior and the inevitable blowups that happen when the girls discover they are being cheated on.

There are plenty of more plot twists that await and an entirely appropriate ending for this chaotic mess. School Days is not recommended for the faint of heart, but it makes for compelling viewing. It is the train wreck in progress that you cannot look away from. Watching School Days is akin to a guilty pleasure. We get to see what happens when people do what they know they shouldn't be doing, but can't help doing because it feels too good to stop.

If that is not your cup of tea then stay away. Otherwise I would say this anime series is extremely underrated. I can recommend this if you are looking for something quite atypical from the normal vapid, harem series.

The quality that separates School Days from other harem animes is that the characters suffer very real consequences from their ecchi actions, lies lead to more lies, and there will be a piper to pay in the end. School Days gives us a glimpse into the dark side of 'love'.

It's sometimes hard to overcome what you've heard about a series and judge it fairly. School Days is show that has gotten some praise and some hate, but regardless of how well-crafted it actually is, it's gotten a lot of discussion. It's hard to believe what you've heard about the series if you've only seen the first few episodes, I was almost sure I was watching the wrong show. Even as the dark depths of the story start to show through, it's hard to be prepared for what's in store.

The show isn't great, though. What it is, however, is a brave look at the conflicted years we face as teenagers, not entirely realistic, but with moments that will remind you of the nonsensical bullcrap you faced when you were in high school. Manipulation, denial, peer pressure and impending doom, all the ingredients are here.

The animation and voice work is not especially impressive. In fact, you'd expect it that way, as all technical aspects of the show are just a necessity; here to present the story. The character designs range from decent to awful, but the principal characters are all drawn competently and do the job. The music is nice on most occasions, setting the mood well. It's one of the best parts of the series. The seiyuu work is along the same lines as the animation; from good to awful, but again, after a couple episodes, you'll find yourself used to them.

But then, this presents the biggest problem. Everything here is just an excuse to tell the story of doomed youth. When things work, it's hard not to like, but most aspects of the show are merely average. You keep watching because there is that sick pleasure in watching the inevitable downfall that the characters are faced with. It's so awful that you just can't turn away. And in that sense, it succeeds in a big way.

I think I will take a stab at my first review here. As some of the forums users already know i absolutly loved watching this anime. But you may be alittle bit surprised by my review. I loved watching the anime, but that really only accounts for the enjoyment part of the review. Which i gave a 10 out of 10. There were some various aspects that i really enjoyed, but other than the fact of the sheer originality of the show, there really isn't much to be proud of. I liked the animation, I liked how the characters looked (none of that fancy hair color). Once you dig into the characters, you notice they have quite some depth to them. They all have their role to play. The concept of the story is cliche and overdone, but the resolve to it was new. I guess the character voices where okay. I didn't really pay attention to the music.

The whole review is kinda short, but I prefer things to be short but sweet.

Well anyway, this anime further proves the fact, sex, lies, and murder make the world go round.
