the first episode shows that two guys must be bonded. This is probably due to the fact that the same people who worked on Loveless are working on Monochrome factor too. most people say this show is too same sexed!. man/man girl/girl. I only watch heterosexual animes, but you can't really take this too seriously because its meant in a light hearted way. although I can see why many have stayed away from it. but its a pretty funny anime for sure, a lot of action and comedy, although after 9 episodes the action gets a bit samey, very stale!, ala, FREAK OF THE WEEK show. for that reason I started to find it very boring. but what kept me going for the characters. they are fun, and sooner you get use to them,in their next outing.
this wouldn't set the whole world alight, and lacks the true depth of the manga. so if you want cheap thrills, its barely worth watching. because there's much more better animes out there.
if its jokes your after, then it does that very well. the animation of the characters are very funny. a lot better than they are in Bleach.
but overall, I was disappointed by this anime.

This is a review of episodes 1 to 3 only.

There's not a lot of great things to say about this anime. It explores the often used and mostly worn out "monsters attack school" plot line. Though it feels like a ripoff of Kekkaishi, it does manage to keep the viewer interested with the help of good humor and a few surprises.

Most notably, the series deals openly with homosexuality--something that Western audiences are typically not comfortable with. Some scenes are fairly suggestive and a few have a bluntly pornographic interpretation. Of course this anime is far more sexually tame than many popular ecchi series of the heterosexual persuasion.

Other than that, the series leaves few impressions, good or bad. Five or six years ago this would have been viewed as a significant anime, but today it is just above average. This is then perhaps a testament to the rapid flowering growth of that branch of modern art we call Anime.
