Reminds me of Samurai Champloo... This one also has got style, similar historical setting and some weird "japan goes to america"-attitude.

The best thing here is propably the music and audiovisual synchronization. Bet guys at Ninja Tune have seen this.

The downside, it's very long. And some hooks in the plot make no sense. Plot is quite hilarious at times.

Worth watching least once. Just don't expect miracles. This is old stuff.

Dagger of Kamui, an epic ninja tale by legendary director Rintaro, is certainly an underrated classic. Its surprising how well this anime holds up in spite of its age. From its highly stylized, sometimes dreamlike animation, to its energetic soundtrack, this film is masterfully crafted. This movie took three years to make, and it shows. The characters are all staples you've probably seen before, but they serve this story well. A must see for fans of classic anime.

Considered by many as the father of Ninja Scroll the movie. I am certainly inclined to agree. The story fantastic, right from the start it reels you in. And the movie is a great ride for the hunt of treasure. I had a lot of fun watching this. It had great action and an amazing soundtrack. The characters too were great and this anime certainly seems to have set the standards in it day. Hey I thought it was pretty cool for a Japanese guy fighting cowboys in the old west (I'm not kidding).

Inspite of the age it stands strong even today and I suggest anyone who liked the Ninja Scroll movie, check this one out. It boasts a better story and better characters. Its a definite classic all the way. Just dont expect too much from the animation which is great for something made in 1985 but falls short in todays standards.

This was the coolest thing when it came out, and no doubt it has faded into oblivion the animation was'nt that great and it's a little too long to keep most people's attention. Overall though i think this is one of the better adventure anime's out there, and while it's not suppose to be fun, it's definately better than alot of the shlok out there.

+: It's a nice history anime and it shows the Ainu culture very well.

-: Just about every element here is average at best.

What a nice history anime. Yes. That's all Kamui no Ken/The Dagger of Kamui/Kamui Mutsube is: a history anime. (The last name is how you say the title in Ainu, since Kamui means "gods".) As an action anime, it lacks some kind of flair.

Just about every element here is either average or below average. You can tell that the animation is totally outdated, though this is a pretty old movie. The movie drags on and on and it does not bring much of an attempt to be exciting. The only category the movie is decent on is the music, but then again, it's not memorable at all.

It's no classic, but at least it makes some sort of attempt to be one. My advice? Only see this movie if you need help on an Asian history report or any other related task.

This anime has all the makings of a cult classic. Its bad, but its *classically* bad. There's really no one thing you can single out. In fact, its animation and sound are quite good, and its story is really quite interesting, and the characters are memorable, though distant.

But trust me, none of this will ever cross your mind as you're watching it. Make no mistake, this anime is awful. The dialogue is corny, there are countless cliches used, and worst of all, the anime takes itself completely seriously when nobody else can. But it has its merits. If you're going to watch it, watch it with some friends so you can make fun of just how bad it is.

As an historical aside, this anime was heavily advertised in the US compared to most animes of the day, which only made it all the more ludicrous, because it was hyped as an instant classic baically.

By far the worst anime I've seen, this one really stinks. The story line is incredibly idiotic, the music is painful and the movie has no redeeming value at all. It deserves at least 1 review so people aren't fooled in to watching it.
