| This is probably the second worse lupin movie I have seen after From russia with love. This is another reason why lupin should not be exported to US or make a US version out of cause it sucks really really bad. Its like US cartoons of the 80's are 10/20 years behind their japanese counterpart.

| „Legend of the Gold of Babylon“ ist wohl der mit Abstand langweiligste und verworrendste Lupin-Movie den ich gesehen habe und auch der einzige durch den ich mich die komplette Laufzeit lang regelrecht durchringen musste. Der Film ist im alten Lupin-Style gehalten, ähnlich wie bei „From Russia with Love“, und dieser sagt mir einfach nicht zu. Vor allem ist es die Albernheit die sich durch den ganzen Film zieht. Lupin ist zwar immer mal wieder skurril und witzig aber in diesem Fall übertreibt man es damit und es gibt einfach zu viele Szenen die absolut lächerlich sind. Auch das Verhalten von Lupin ist zu abgedreht und ständig gibt er in heiklen Situationen komische Laute von sich und hampelt durch die Gegend. Eigentlich ist es genau da was ich an diesem Charakter mag aber in diesem Film wird er dadurch nur zur behämmerten Witzfigur. Auch die Nebenfiguren sind irritierend und besonders diese kleinwüchsige Oma geht heftig auf die Nerven. Und damit ist es mit dem ganzen Unfug noch nicht vorbei, denn die Story ist mindestens genauso behämmert. Erst scheint ja noch alles beim Alten und Lupin & Co jagen einem Schatz nach, während ein böser Gangsterboss ebenfalls versucht sich das Gold von Babylon unter den Nagel zu reißen. Das ist zwar auch nur langweiliger Lupin-Standard aber wenigstens noch im Rahmen. Dann aber kommen irgendwelche Aliens mit ins Spiel und ziehen alles ins unglaubwürdig Lächerliche. Hinzu kommt dann noch ein extrem sprunghafter Handlungsverlauf, der insbesondere im letzten Drittel dafür sorgt das die Story einen völlig überhasteten Eindruck hinterlässt. Fazit: Nach „From Russia with Love“ der mit Abstand schlechteste Lupin-Movie. Viel zu schwachsinnig, ohne jeglichen Anflug von Spannung und auch in Sachen Action hat man schon weit besseres gesehen. Der Film ist ’ne Gurke und mehr nicht!

| Yet again the typical Lupin styled over the top globe trotting adventure mystery.
The animation is typical lupin- which is to say average or below average (unless you're a lupin fan and in that case you won't mind it a bit.)
sound and op, ed, and bgm was the good part of this lupin anime.
The story had a lot of potential but the ridiculousness of certain sequences and shallowness of certain characters detracts from it more so than other lupin animes.
The characters who are regular are what pull the ratings up to where they are, all other characters were quite honestly horrible.
The value and enjoyment suffered because of the improperly developed additional characters that made this lupin appear more disjointed than it normally is. the anime suffers because of pointless characters such as the beauty contestants, etc. But for lupin fans it's a must watch.
