| Once again I find myself enjoying another season of Minami-ke. Yes, in my Hidamari Sketch review, I said I was losing interest in this genre, which is why it took me so long to complete this season. Hell, I don't even know why I'm trying to watch Sketchbook Full ColorS. Anyways, I wish there would be more Minami-ke, but I want Doumu back as the animation studio, because Asread just plain sucks as shown by Okawari and this Okaeri.
If you loved the Minami sisters, they upkeep the comedy here with more of the same but awesome. A new character, Atsuko, gets only one or two skits devoted to her. Hosaka remains being sprinkled here and there (and even if his last joke was predictable, it was still funny to see all that sweat). Okaeri focuses more on Touma (and her brothers, who were mysteriously non-existent last season...) as well as the Minami sisters in general.
The skits are ever humorous, and are even grouped together in the same episode to provide continuity. However, some skits cut short, or did not have a full impact, mostly due to the misdirection of the skit and my lack of knowledge of Japanese culture. I mostly blame the animation studio, even if they did get some help from the people at Doumu. Sometimes I watched a skit with a smile on my face expecting something epic, but it just cuts to the next skit therefore I faced disappointment.
The vast amount of QUALITY probably killed the franchise. Asread just doesn't have the right people to draw anything. They did revert back to the first season's color palette and designs, which is their acknowledgment that their version (Okawari) is subpar.
They used four skits per episode, using up a lot of material. This is probably the last season of Minami-ke. Ever.

| Okaeri revisits the enjoyable Minami sisters. This boring series continues its run of boredom.

| Minami-ke continues on to a third season filled of filler episodes. I was somewhat surprised at the release of this season as Okawari was already pretty much a show about nothing.
In any case, it seems that the characters reverted mostly to their appearance in the first series, sadly the plotline continues along what the second series was.
While there are half a dozen laugh out loud moments in the thirteen episode series, there are also plenty of snoozing moments where my friend has literally fallen asleep watching.
This series is recommended only for those who watched Okawari and still think they can take more slice-of-life. I shall echo my comment from Okawari: If you liked [the previous series] to the point of needing more then watch this. If you need any semblance of action, drama, or plot in general you should look elsewhere.

| Minami ke is a good series to watch, but not to keep, unless some ultra fan thinks it is rightly so. So far as my memory goes, this is the second worse anime animation relased (after Akikan). You will find on anime boards full of okaeri spoof's as eyes not looking same direction, clothes not the same front to back, door which opens the wrong way after entering, 2 different artist drawing frames few seconds apart and much more. In fact people are now playing games on spot the spoofness of minami ke which in the end is sad.
It also clearly shows that the concept has passed its sell by date and even though it has funny moments, I think S1 and S2 were much better.

| Minami-ke Okaeri is the 13 episode sequel to Minami-ke Okawari, and is the third season of the once highly popular Minami-ke series, released in 2009. Sadly, the series has been on a downhill spiral ever since the anime changed animation studios after the first season, and this third season is nothing short of an insult to the hard work of the highly talented voice actors and actresses.
Following the switch to Asread animation studio from the highly acclaimed Doumu after the first season, the second season of Minami-ke experienced a steady decline in animation quality. The same is true in this third season, but the rate of decline has accelerated exponentially. As a result, Minami-ke Okaeri is hideous to behold. Overly simplified character designs, visual errors, and lacking animation are all in abundance in Minami-ke Okaeri. The series has declined in animation quality to a degree which almost rivals decade old low budget hentai productions, and I can only imagine how heartbreaking this can be for fans of the series. Animation quality does pick up slightly in the final episode, but it still pales when compared to the first season.
One area, and most likely the only area, worth praising about Minami-ke Okaeri is its cast of excellent voice actors and actresses. They have managed to maintain the same high quality that was present in the first season, despite everything else in the series flushing down the drain. The theme and insert songs, which are performed by the voice actresses, are very good to listen to and have received high acclaim in Japan. Despite their valiant efforts however, Minami-ke Okaeri suffers from overly repetitive and bland background music. Although the soundtrack has been the same since the first season, it appears that several tracks have been dropped, resulting in what can only be described as a shortage in music.
The original Minami-ke was a comedy, and Minami-ke Okaeri attempts to be the same. Sadly, as with most other aspects of this anime, it utterly fails. There are humorous moments in Okaeri, but the majority of episodes are uneventful and simply boring to watch. There are countless moments where the lead characters simply sit around complaining about how "there is nothing to do" for long periods of time, which ruins the entire season without question. The scarce moments of humour are a short reprieve from boredom, but they lack both in frequency and in quality compared with the material from Minami-ke.
The brilliant voice acting make every character in Minami-ke Okaeri sound as lively as they did in the first season, but the characters no longer act lively, and they certainly don't look lively. If you are a fan of the characters in Minami-ke, Okaeri will make you fall out of love with them. Although the final episode does show a glimpse of the former characters, it is the only episode to do so in this third season.
Minami-ke Okaeri is an anime which doesn't do justice to the hard work put in by the voice actors and actresses. Fans of the Minami-ke series will be severely disappointed, as has been shown by the extremely negative reaction on the internet. The final episode is definitely the best in this season, and is the only episode worth watching. The whole 13 episode season however, is not even worth considering.
